Bergerac puts the Happy in Happy Hour! We started our culinary adventure with the«Hotel Nacional Cocktail» served in a super-sized«prohibition style» shaker and a few of the über-tasty ’70’s Style Munchies. Then we moved on to the dinner menu — It’s global sampler of very shareable dishes. One of the best ways to experience Bergerac’s eclectic cuisine is to bring a group and order several different menu items. Our faves were the Cheddar Fondue with Veggies and Craft Bread; Bosc Pear and Roquefort«South of France» Pizza and the Kung Fu Tacos! Save room for dessert. We loved the sinfully rich and Jar of Chocolate with Espresso & Chantilly Cream and the Rum and Coke Pineapple Fritters. Feel like you need to burn off some of those calories? Check out Audio Discothèque upstairs.

This place is the dopeness. I came here with some friends on a saturday night for some snackies and boozing time. It was amazing: tremendous food, fabulous drinks and good music to cement the vibe. Also Krista. If I could only say one word about this place it would be: Krista. She may be the best server I’ve encountered in SF. Friendly, witty and knowledgeable she exceeded all my expectations and restored my faith in the service industry. Seriously you can ask her almost anything and she will have the answer: What should i get to drink? Blue grass mule. Boom, perfect. What should I eat? Steak tartare and deviled eggs. Again impeccable. What is the major export of Venezuela? Tin. Wrong. It’s oil Krista. She may not have all the answers but the ones she does have will tickle the fancy of the finickiest of diners. She told me that someone named Tammy made my drink. Whoever that is she is a blessing because that ish was delicious. Also the service here is fast, I mean Usain Bolt on performance enhancers fast. Whoever is in that kitchen churning out food is probably part cyborg because damn are they quick. It took about as long as it takes a not very bright four year old to recite the pledge of allegiance for my deviled eggs to come out. Overall my experience here left me starry-eyed and drunk. Which is exactly what i was shooting for when i left the abode that evening.

Had a great time hosting a very impromptu reunion with high school classmates. Have to admit its been harder and harder to find a place that could host an array of people of all ages. The DJ, Russell Vargas, helped get the vibe going. He played a very cool mix of house music, which at one point surprised me as I heard Depeche Mode incorporated into the mix. So COOL! He got everyone in the mood to dance! PS — the drinks are yummy

The interior is great to host a party, however that is about it. The food is so so and the service was nothing less of atrocious. What restaurant runs out of food and drink options at 8:30? for a pre-planned party? Not going back needless to say more and would not recommend !

My friends and I came here after dinner around 9:30pm. There was no line, so we got in right away. +1 for Bergerac It was already a bit crowded when we got in, but that was ok. We weren’t able to get a reservation so we stood around the bar to get a drink and mingle. The first half of our group was able to get a drink after about 10 – 15 minutes, which isn’t too bad. The bartender serving at the end was also responsible for taking care of the table orders. However, after half the group got their drinks, I waited another 15 minutes before some people who were buddy-buddy with the barkeep put in their orders(for like 7 drinks). I politely asked if I could put in my orders next, and he acknowledged me and said ok. After he made their drinks, they asked for a few more, which he got for them. Then, he started making table orders at which point I gave up. I had waited more than 30 minutes to be served while waiting politely. –1 for every 10 minutes we waited We went to join the rest of the group, and somehow we were able to get a table. +1 for this small miracle. We thought we’d finally be able to get drinks now that we had a table. Simply put, I was wrong. The waitress came to our table another 15 minutes after we were seated. Finally, we gave her our drink orders, waited about 15 minutes, and was about to leave when we finally got our drinks. Needless to say, they didn’t even have Johnny Walker Black, which is what I wanted, so we had to order something else. –1 for the wait and wait. Overall, it get very loud in here. The volume increased at least 3 distinct times from when we were here at 9:30 to ~11pm. STORYTIME: By this time, the bar was extremely crowded. There was a DJ and something of a dance floor. Since our table was next to the DJ/dance floor, some people left their drinks at the edge of the table, which was fine. However, I saw one random guy take someone else’s drink, sniff it, take a sip through the straw, and put it back. I was watching him and he noticed me. When we made eye contact, he just gave me a quizzical look and a shrug, and walked away. WTF. –1 for weirdos preying on drinks. While the décor is nice, I would like to think that the happy hour/earlier in the evening is probably a better time to come here.

Came her for my birthday last night and had a blast! We got their early around 9 and there was no line. We had so much fun and I’m happy I got to visit. The music was upbeat kinda house and super good. The drinks were great and we got a chance to snag a couch and sit for a bit and dance. So much fun and such beautiful people too!!!

I’ve been here twice, once after a show at Slim’s, this time for a professional organization get together. My review is based on an amazing drink mixed by bartender Luis. I know the High Noon Tea has gin, vodka, and some sort of spiced pear liqueur but that’s about all I know. Oh, wait, I do know one additional thing — it was delicious. I’m of the age that I don’t gauge the quality of a cocktail on how drunk it gets me. Instead, its all about taste. Luis’s cocktail had just enough liquor to give it a little kick without the taste of liquor overwhelming the flavors. It was sweet, but not too sweet. I had two and probably could have had a few more. Would definitely recommend it, thanks for the drinks Luis!

I will cut to the chase. How often do you host an event and the establishment runs out of food? Hopefully never, until we came to Bergerac. One of my worst nightmares when it comes to hosting an event came true– guests were hungry and not all were fed. Last Saturday we hosted 25 people for a combined milestone birthday. We reserved in advance and explained we would be looking for heavy appetizers that would be in lieu of dinner(event 730−930pm). First of all the food took a long time to come out even though we had a large group reservation(was this their first go at large parties, sure felt like it) Sometime around 815 or so our waitress advised us that they were out of chicken sliders and shortly after that, of all meat sliders. This did not leave us with much options at all for a group of 25. The table was empty and guests were still coming in at the Time. Some went next door to crêpe a go go. The waitress asked if I wanted to order more Mac and cheese(miniature side dishes) and some other foods but at that point it was not going to move the needle. I scrambled and spent time calling pizza places to order pizza for 25 people. Purely ridiculous if you ask me!!! The restaurant was not empty but wasn’t overflowing either. I believe there were a couple open tables. Not to mention drink orders took 30 plus minutes. Terrible experience overall and will never come back.

Shoutout to the bartender who was there on Friday 1/15, we came in for happy hour around 6:30. It was empty but it seems like a place that gets the later night/lounge crowd anyway. They have a punch bowl for $ 35 that is amazing and dangerous but in a good way! All of the other punch bowls I’ve had are really sweet and watered down. Not the one at Bergerac! It is slightly sweet(I think the bitters help) and has the perfect amount of alcohol. Oh and it is vodka based for all of you who are also sick of the rum punches. I highly recommend coming here for the punch bowl on happy hour. Also if you check in on Unilocal you get a free app

Service here is realllyyyy slow. Waited 20 minutes to order our food and our whole meal took almost 2 hours. The ambiance is nice but they seem to be understaffed. The drinks here are superrrrrr strong, to the point where you don’t even enjoy it anymore. We ordered the social which is a pitcher and it was basically straight alcohol. The food was pretty good. Had the chicken sliders and steak tartine. Chicken sliders were really tender and the steak tartine was ok… The steak was too chewy in my opinion. The bread pudding was really bad, I would not recommend it. It tasted sour and was really chewy… Not the kind of bread pudding I am used to. Overall, I wouldn’t have came here if it weren’t for the Gilt City deal.

Chill vibe on a Saturday night. Vodka redbull is $ 12. There’s a DJ. Starts to get crowded around 11. I was the only one in my group that liked the music. I felt like I was in one of the rooms in the game Clue. We got a table easily. I’d go back. Ample parking at the Costco garage if you don’t mind paying.

Drinks are SOOO good. And its easy to get seated during happy hour(it pays to get out of the financial district). I ordered the Happy Hour special cocktail which was a vodka gimlet with pineapple juice, lime and basil. It was so delicious I kept ordering them the entire night. For food, we snacked on the deviled eggs, tater tots, and truffle fries. All yummy and the truffle fries were one of the best I’ve had. Two thumbs up! They also play really good music

This bar has a really cool, chill vibe — good music and good(but pricey!!) drinks. The problem was the service — I’ve never been more shocked by customer service than I was here — it was horrendous. As per most SF bars, it was VERY busy but the bartender continuously ignored my friend and I at the bar while people who had just approached seemed to be served before us, multiple times. My friend tried to grab the bartender’s attention several times since it was so busy, and twice she turned to him and told him to wait, which he did, while she continued to serve others who had not waited at all. After he finally got his drink, he left a $ 1 tip for one drink… the service was shitty and we thought that was more than enough. About 30 minutes later the same bartender found us across the room while standing with our friends and she shoved the receipt in his face and said something along the lines of «are you from around here? was there a problem, why didn’t you leave a proper tip», and demanded that we give a better tip because she claimed the bartenders’ wages came *only* from tips. After he explained how he felt based on her service, she continued to berate him and stood around until he wrote in an additional tip. I have never been more shocked and the way she badgered him after SHE was so rude while serving him. It was astounding and I’ve never been back since then. Also just a fun fact, bartenders and all staff who work for tips are required by law in California to be paid minimum wage BEFORE tips are added in — so she did have a base hourly wage. Sadly that base is not enough to live on in SF, but if you can’t provide good customer service, then don’t choose to work in an industry like bartending that relies heavily on tips.

This is a pretty nice swanky, vintage style drinking spot in SOMA. The eats are delicious. Try the sliders, prosciutto and greens pizza and wantons! The specialty cocktails are quite delicious. They also have a fair craft liquor selection. I’ll be back.

A dark but more classy, casual bar(reminds me of one of my fav bars in NYC). I love cocktail bars that aren’t too chaotic so you don’t have to deal with dive bar maniacs no cover charge! i enjoyed my drink that had brandy in it, but I can’t remember what it was called & my friend enjoyed her mezcal cocktail NOTE: this bar also owns Audio, the venue/club upstairs(entrance is next door) with a secret back stairway with access to Bergerac BUT audio has a $ 20 cover charge

Stumbled upon this spot last night with a friend, had to find a spot open and with a full bar to continue the festivities. Great drink selection. A grey goose martini and a glenlivet was $ 31something(usually almost half that price at divey cash-only bars with small ice cubes and cheap glasses, lol). The bartenders are pros — from the quality of the liquor, the way they shake/stir/pour the drinks, to presentation and service. At the bar they even had hibiscus water and varying bitters. And water is served in tall glass bottles that used to be whiskey bottles… pretty cool. Definitely feels a bit on the bourgeois side when you walk in, and def bourgeois on your wallet, but hey you get what you pay for!

Came here with a large group of ladies and were seated at the back couch. It was a good vibe, an older crowd, and definitely not a dive bar atmosphere, but also unpretentious. Their truffle fries were so amazing, I’m pretty sure we went through 5 baskets, in addition to our rounds of drinks. Overall good vibe, and would come back again.

Some places keep you coming back for more. I had been here a couple of times before but last night really impressed me. We were there in a large party, bringing in a friend’s birthday. Drinks were flowing and so was the food. The ambience was amazing, music was upbeat and had us grooving. From what I know the drinks were delicious(Dry Orchard Punch and Kentucky Mule, were both $ 11). The food was scrumptious!(Mushroom Pizza, fries, pita chips, chicken sliders) I’m sure I’m going to go back there soon! Want to check the place out at happy hour :)

There are so many good things about this place. Where do I even begin. The place you should begin is happy hour. It includes shareable, unpretentious bar bites including tater tots, pigs in blankets, deviled eggs, truffle fries. They’re simple, but as long as they’re cheap. They happy hour cocktails are great too. I’ve tried the Karmakaze, between the sheets, hurricane, and piña colada. They also served a absinthe fountain and beers. And they have a large block of ice for the Manhattan Project. But my favorite thing about Bergerac are the punchbowls. It’s a great deal during happy hour and they have a couple more on their regular menu. They change up the punch bowl offerings every once in a while. I’ve tried the Boogie nights and footloose. Now if you’re ready to take it to the next and final level, then go for the fireball shots in cider. If you’re lucky or if there’s simply enough of you, then you’ll be treated to a fire show too. It varies, but the best I’ve had was when about 20 shots were balanced on pint glasses and dropped in when a cloud of fire was blown onto them.

I’ve only been here at night for the bar/lounge so I can’t comment on hh or the food. The venue is cozy — not big but not terribly crowded either. The music was good — top 40s The bar however was horribly managed — not sure if they were understaffed or just clueless — I’m gonna go with the latter. There were about 4 guys bartending 2 looked like they had no clue how to make drinks and would stare into space and ignore customers trying to place orders. The 2 that were making drinks moved at a snails pace and constantly forgot orders. Everyone around the bar was impatiently waving down the bartenders who would just pretend not see anyone. This is not how it works — I know the service industry, been in it myself — faster service — make more drinks = more tips — acknowledging your customers doesn’t hurt either. 30 minutes to get 2 gin and gingers — not cool.
