The shrimp dumpling wasn’t even shrimp. It was yellow and white and flaky inside. The pork bun was sour and the Sui Mai was the same meat as the shark fin dumplings. The fried rice was VERYSALTY and the restaurant smelled like a cat’s litter box. Avoid this place like the plague. Yes it is cheap, but if you finish the food, you might regret it later. I ate maybe 3 bites and was done.

I’ve eaten food from street vendors and filthy hole-in-the-walls in third world countries(including China), so I’m not anywhere close to being a food snob, but this sh*t has gotta be the most disgusting food I’ve ever had in my life. It’s the only time I spit food out and threw it away because it was too nasty for me to tough it out and finish it. Yea, they’ve got a friendly girl working the register in the front, and yea, it looks like a great f***ing deal to pay so little for all-you-can-eat, BUT the only thing you’ll be able to eat is the chow mein and the egg rolls. The pork bun was bad, the rest of the dim sum was disgusting, bbq — disgusting, soup tasted like it might have been made with untreated tap/toilet water, and the bok choy tasted like it was boiled in the same water used for the soup.

Came here cos I was craving for some dim sum and other restaurants were so crowded. I won’t recommend anyone to eat here as the food was terrible. The shrimp dumplings didn’t look or taste fresh. Their $ 1 natural soy drink is not home made. It came from those instant soy milk powder mixed with some warm water. Worst food I’ve ever tasted in Chinatown. I will never come back.

The xiu mai was okay. Price was so affordable!!! So come here when you are craving of xiu mai only. Not recommend for other things

I love this place. Though it looks sketchy it’s really a good deal. My man and I come here for dates often!

The sign by the door says it all«no refunds after purchase.» Many of the dumplings had raw meat. The cups and dishes were dirty and sticky. Only go to this place with a significant other if you want to bring your relationship to a whole new level. My boyfriend and I had instant food poisoning at the same time and were sharing a hotel room. At least it’s a funny story though that we will remember.

Ratings are contextual – this is a $ 5.99 buffet in the most expensive city in the country. Go in, devour, leave«fat and happy» as one other review wrote. If it looks strange, don’t try it. This is deep Chinatown, not Panda King. Owners are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet, and they are excited to have you there.

This place sucks, worst dim sum I have ever had. Although $ 5.99 price may seem good, $ 30 doctor fee at kaiser after makes it a total rip off. I feel bad for whoever gets tricked into coming here.

sure 5.99 all you can eat may sound enticing, it sure did to me but eat here if you don’t mind dirty food and food poisoning. by far probably the worst dim sum(chinese food) ive ever had. and i’m chinese. instead, walk past this place for about 4 stores and have some quality dim sum, at a better price.

This place scares me… but I wanted some tea on a cold, rainy Saturday and a quick snack. Plus my co-workers and I had just had a whole discussion about how germs can build up your immune system more than living in a bubble will… so I decided to try a few dumplings. They weren’t bad but they weren’t that great. The staff is extremely nice and friendly, but the pricing for non-buffet items seems somewhat random and arbitrary. Several of the people I was with decided not to tempt fate with the buffet but instead get relatively safe, non-meat items. We all got fairly similar things but somehow paid a anything from $ 3.00 to $ 4.75 And then there’s the health rating score. of 57… Eat here at your own risk, but just remember hot tea or canned soda can help kill whatever germs you come into contact with.

A couple friends and I went traveling around Chinatown over the weekend, and we were attracted by their $ 5.99 «All-you-can-eat». We were greeted by a very nice, kind, sweet, and informative Asian lady who gave us on some insight about the deal. We were fairly surprised when she handed us a Styrofoam plate and bowl, but what can you expect for $ 5.99? Although the restaurant itself was fairly run down, old, and on the unsanitary side but i came to appreciate the urban/3-rd world country ambiance. *For those commenting on how filthy the place is, Chinatown isn’t somewhere you should go in search of a 5-star restaurant. So don’t have your expectations too high – cause you’ll without any doubt get disappointed. As for the food: the food was fairly hot and warm, didn’t feel like it was out too long. There were some hits and misses, but you can’t expect too much for paying $ 5.99 for all you can eat :) Definitely enjoyed my day and the service was nice and the worker(i believe were all family) were very sweet and kind. If you are an open-minded individual you’ll definitely learn to appreciate and love this place :) & my boyfriend said the chicken was crispy as @#$! :) Yumz.

I unfortunately came to Chinatown on New Years looking for dim sum. Unfortunately all the dim sum places I knew in Chinatown were closed on New Years(now when does any place in Chinatown close on any day ?!) and I guess this was the only dim sum place I found that was a sit-in and not to-go. So I unfortunately went here. The price is EXTREMELY cheap but the food was awful! The girl at the cash register was sooooooooooo nice tho so I cannot give this place a 1 star, because of the great service I will give this place a 2 stars. But if you are judging this place for food or how clean it is, it is definitely a 1 star. Overall, do not get tempted by the $ 5.99 all you can eat dim sum, because the food is so awful that I would rather eat my own food that I cook than this(and now that is bad).

*DONOTEATHERE*!!! Perhaps you noticed that most of the Unilocal reviews for this place have rated them a disgraceful«one star». Basically, that’s «zero» stars, but Unilocal doesn’t allow a «zero» rating. – Upon seeing this place, I had pretty much the same thought as everyone else: «Wow! A buffet? In Chinatown?!? No way!» So I had to try it. The chinese woman at the front register seemed friendly, and full of energy welcoming us in. She tells us that we could eat as much as we wanted for only $ 5.99(which is a great price). So after we pay, she proceeds to hand us Styrofoam cups/plates/bowls.(I’m not joking.) At that moment, I should have decided to go eat somewhere else… But, you live and learn. So, we take our Styrofoam plates to the food line — there I see your typical run-of-the-mill stuff: house fried rice, sweet and sour pork, chow mien, egg rolls. A few other items were there, but that was about it. The food selection was pitiful. None of it tasted above average, the egg rolls were disgusting,(made me want to puke) and the onions in the house fried rice were not cooked at all. They had(by far) the worst selection of food I have ever seen at a «buffet» in my entire life… And that’s saying a lot. As far as drinks are concerned, on the house they offer hot tea and water to drink, in a Styrofoam cup. Well, you could buy a $ 2 dollar glass of iced tea, but that just seemed out of the question. Oh — and the«bathroom key» — that was nothing short of ridiculous. I felt like I was in a prison. First you had to embarrassingly go to the register, and ask for the key, which had 3 or 4 rolls of toilet paper pad-locked to it, via a big flex cable.(You know, those cables you use to lock up a bicycle.) And in the bathroom(which was hardly clean), they figured it was a good place to store cleaning equipment, vacuums, mops, and other miscellaneous junk in there that wouldn’t fit elsewhere in the restaurant. Is this some kind of a joke??? I agree with one other Unilocaler who said«This is the kind of establishment that would most likely fail an inspection on the spot, should health officials care to drop by.» I think if this place was anywhere else, they would’ve been closed down a long time ago. But in Chinatown, they apparently have their own rules. Somehow,(probably because of all the tourists) even shady businesses can thrive. As I said earlier, don’t go here. It’s awful.

YUCKYUCKYUCKYUCK. I’d give it no stars if I could. Don’t get me wrong I love greasy, cheap, awful Chinese food. And for $ 5 I thought I wouldn’t complain. But oh my god it was foul. After having so much great, cheap food in Chinatown this was such a disappointment. The dim-sum was awful, the noodle and rice dishes were even worse. Even the hot and sour soup was inedible. We didn’t eat anything. I’d probably go as far as to say it was the worst place I’ve EVER eaten. Don’t go.

After reading the countless 1 star reviews, I couldn’t wait to get to this place. Perhaps everyone on Unilocal is new to the country, but I’m not sure what they are expecting for a $ 5 buffet in Chinatown. Yes, the place is a shithole and probably has some questionable sanitary practices, but it is what it is. I had 3 heaping plates of average Chinese food and left fat and happy. Even if you don’t like the food here, you can still fill up on fried rice, chow mein and vegetables and get your whopping $ 5 worth.

The food made my cousin cry. It was foul! Like spit out and vomit foul. Do your stomach a favor and save your 5.99 for McDonalds! If you like greasy slimy fried cold food… then take your chances… if not run!!!

Please give me a barf bag… Don’t fall for the cheap price and persuasive microphone projected voice telling you to come in and give it a try… it is not worth your time, money, and most of all… don’t do this to your taste buds/stomach. They deserve better than this!

After a hard day of walking around acting like tourists… well, you’re gonna be hungry. The various options of foods in China Town is mind boggling — multiple dim-sum joints, seafood restaurants… a fast food joint like the MacDonald’s is nowhere to be found. But you’re in China Town, so why not give it a shot and eat some food from the local flavor? We were hungry, tired, and HUNGRY; a street vendor passing out fliers for this little restaurant, a la Vegas with the card flapping porno promoters, we saw this restaurant. It’s dim sum at it’s…um…I’m not even quite sure it would be fair calling it dim sum. But with the buffet running only $ 5.99, why not, right? The restaurant is moderately sized, with an open area for people who would like to buy dumplings and not have to walk into the restaurant. The seating is seat-yourself. We grab our plates and walk over to the buffet. I grab a piece of just about everything; Taro, chicken wings, some noodles… quite honestly, a FEW of the items are specific to dim-sum; the rest, are borderline, simple Chinese Buffet foods. The food quality was… not the best I’ve had. Also, there’s a loud speaker shouting«This is a buffet. We have dim sum. We have desserts. Only $ 5.99.» Um… this was absolutely awful. Why? Because it reminded me of some of the old school video’s I see of the hardline stance of the past of China, where they’re telling you what to think, eat, pretty much live. Luckily, I was hungry as hell, but really, after 10 minutes, the loudspeaker was annoying. Folks, if you’re on a budget, give it a try. If you have about $ 10 more, try somewhere else and leave this place alone.
