I’ve been going to Dr. Bautista for 6 years at Eyes on 24^th.
He’s always been consistently professional, thorough, and up to date on latest medical instruments and best practices.
On top of that he’s very friendly.
His staff follows suit by also being friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
I would highly recommend him to anyone; including my wife who has also been his loyal patient for years.

I came here for a contact lens/​eyeglass exam, and eyeglass purchase after I found positive reviews on Unilocal.I had a mixed experience so I just wanted to share with others some tips to watch out for. By and large, I’m separating my review for the Optometrist (Dr. Bautista) and the Opticians that helped me (Zoe and Sabah).

–Ease of making an appt: 5 stars and more! I called morning of on a Saturday and I was able to be seen the same day. I was desperate for new glasses and contact lenses after my prescription expired. Zoe and Sabah were able to accommodate me super last minute which I really appreciated.
–Optometrist: 5 stars! Dr. Bautista was efficient, friendly, honest, and overall just great. He took the time to explain things to me and was patient throughout. Can Optometrists have good bedside manner? If so, his bedside manner was excellent.
–Optician/​eyeglass purchasing experience: 2 stars. I have never felt more pressure to buy eyeglasses! Coming out of the Dr’s office with dilated pupils, I was somewhat discombobulated and given maybe 25+ pairs of glasses to try on. Zoe was really helpful but I felt overwhelmed.
Then, I was sold *hard* on ‘extra’ everything: extra padding for my glasses for the nose bit, different types of exams where you don’t have to be dilated, and of course, thinner, better lenses (there are three tiers: normal/​cheap, mid range, expensive fancy — my language not theirs!) I get it, this is a business, but my exam-​glasses experience ended up costing almost $ 800 without vision insurance. I fortunately HAVE vision insurance but it makes me wonder about this whole industry…
Only when pressed, Zoe then informed me about another less expensive lens option called polycarbonate lenses which are in between normal-​cheap and mid-​range. I told Zoe I was on a budget and so ultimately I went with polycarbonate even though I was advised that it a wasn’t great option for some people. For reference, I have them now and they are perfect. I am also practically blind so when I say they are perfect, I mean it — thin, clear, and they don’t make my eyes look buggy etc. After selecting my frames and the lens type, Zoe fitted me for my glasses. This also went great, no complaints here. Upon checking out, Zoe offered me a rebate form on something. I thought it was for the lenses, I said sure! Who doesn’t love a rebate?
When I left the office and reviewed my receipt via email, it turns out I was charged $ 140 for something called Crizal Avance UV which is that anti reflective coating everyone tells you NOT to buy. So here I am, writing this review to tell you again: this stuff is probably great for some people but if you’re on a budget, it’s probably not necessary. I was also just thrown by the way in which this add-​on was «sold» to me. It felt somewhat evasive and I definitely don’t recall being told the cost or the options. SO, consider yourself informed.
I came home to order my contact lenses online only to find that my prescription was not included in my receipt. I had to email them and they did send over both prescriptions the following Tuesday. When I ordered my lenses via Walgreens (they offer 20% off lenses all the time BTW), I noticed every time I logged in that my contact lens order was In Progress for almost 7 days when it normally takes less than 1 day (8 hours to be exact) for the prescription to be verified. I called Sabah and she told me that they had faxed the confirmation a while back. Miraculously, the next day, my Walgreens order was processed. Coincidence? Who knows. Maybe I’m just annoyed. I have been wearing the same grimy lenses for two+ weeks. My patience is wearing thin…
Lastly, after waiting (almost) two weeks (granted) after 4^th of July holiday, I had to call again to see when my glasses would come in. The glasses ended up arriving the next day, but I guess wasn’t expecting it to take as long as it did.
In summary, the Dr. Bautista is great, but my feedback for the staff that work here is around greater accountability (prescriptions should really go out the door with a customer same day, I think that is actually the law), transparency and being direct (e.g. rebate is for this which is an extra charge for this coating that costs $X) and more information/​options for customers.

Super impressed!
A very professional, warm and friendly staff. I had a great dialog with Dr. Bautista about my eye care needs. He spoke in english rather than medical jargon and offered great follow up if I have any further issues/​questions. The selection of frames was decent offering cool brands like SALT, Gucci and Hugo Boss as well as fair pricing on all of it including contact lenses.

Victor (Dr. Bautista) is beyond an expert — he’s like a messiah of eyes. I’ve had trouble with my eyesight on and off for about half a decade, and I’ve seen countless eye doctors to try and find out what the problem is. My vision is basically perfect, but I have a lot of trouble seeing in low light AND high light situations. Which means driving at night is terrifying, and walking through an airport or a Target is just as bad. No one has been able to figure it out, although, rest assured, there were several eye doctors who recommended that I needed $ 10,000 of vision therapy, which, oh by the way, isn’t covered by insurance.
I was with Victor for all of thirty seconds before he noticed my eyes were super dilated without having been given anything to dilate them. He asked me if I was taking any medications, and boom! There was the root of the cause. Lexapro (and other SSRI medications) have a side effect of dilated pupils. Mine were, apparently, insanely dilated, like he didn’t even have to dilate my eyes to finish the full exam. You know how you’re not supposed to drive after you get your eyes dilated in an eye exam? That’s how I was walking around (and driving around) 100% of the time in my life for the last five years.
I don’t entirely understand the science behind it, but basically, my eyes let too much light in. When he shined a small bright light into my eyes, I could suddenly see again. Somehow having the beam so concentrated and so up close in my vision contracted my pupils in a way where I could see. As in, ²⁰⁄₂₀.
Since it’s not socially acceptable to walk around shining a a tiny flashlight in my eyes, Victor had another solution: prisms. Again, I can’t necessarily explain the mechanics, but putting prisms into/​onto the lenses allows my eyes to focus easier (e.g. I can no longer make myself see double on command) and also maybe refract the excess light so I don’t have to strain so much to filter it out.
Anyway, the bottom line is, go see Victor, especially if other eye doctors couldn’t help you. Just like I still fly back to Austin to see the psychiatrist who was able to solve issues no other doctor could, my eyes are now forever entrusted to Victor, so even if I move away from SF, I’ll be flying back here to see him.

Zoe, Sabah and Dr. Bautista are rockstars. My family and I are new to Eyes On Twenty-​Fourth, but the entire staff has made us feel like we have been patients for years. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. The location is convenient and appointments are easy to make. As we all know eye-​sight is never going to get better and I’m happy to have a neighborhood Optometrist that I feel comfortable with. I always seem to leave with a smile.

Great service to detail. Enjoyed the experience, friendly and professional. I recommend! Value the prices and service. Place was clean! Meter parking throughout the area. A good Deli across the street and Walgreens one block away.

I went in for an eye exam earlier this week and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The receptionists were super friendly and very helpful. The doctor was also great. I had been overusing my contacts and sleeping in them, so he recommended a solution that would allow me to keep on a similar schedule with my contacts as I am now, but with a lens that wouldn’t be harmful to my eyes in doing so. I go to the eye doctor every year, and for 6 years no one has ever recommended another solution to me that worked with my schedule.
Office was super cute and it is walking distance from my house which is always a major bonus for me! I definitely recommend them!

AWESOME! One of the most thorough eye exams I’ve ever received. Dr. Bautista was very patient and took time to answer several questions I had. His staff were are very friendly and knowledgeable. HIGHLY recommend!

I paid for my eyes to get dilated. I never got this done because apperently it had to be done within certain time. They didn’t do it the day of my appointment and I never got the reason of why they didn’t. Also I was told I could replace my glasses’s lenses as long as my prescription didn’t changed because they messed up three times on my order. I called and said my lensses were scratched and the optometrist thought I was lying about it so he needed to check for sure the glasses and see them in person. I was told I could just call and they’d order them as long as my prescription stayed the same. This place charged me for something I didn’t get, doesn’t have a reliable policy and I found my $ 250 frames on ebay for $ 65. I don’t wanna any money back or the dialetion, just presenting the facts of ym experience.

This review is long overdue ! My husband and me went for our annual check up last July and the doctor was really good and professional.
My husband has no great eye problem so for him is alway pretty easy .
while I had something wrong with my eyes for the last couples of years and my previous eye doctors couldn’t just just find a solution. This doctor found out the real reason behind my eye problem and got me the right glasses prescription.
We ll both go back next year!

I went here for my yearly eye exam and they were super friendly and willing to work with my insurance — even took me back early when I left myself time for traffic. They also helped me schedule an appointment for my boyfriend and worked around his schedule with a later appointment.
They did a great job on his glasses!

Dr. Victor Bautista is an outstanding eye professional. I have never had a great optometrist here or any where else I have lived. In fact in San Francisco every single optometrist that I have visited before I have always felt rushed and often less than satisfactory prescriptions.
A contract lens fitting at one optometrist was so unprofessional that I wish I had been able to Unilocal that experience (it was BY before Unilocal). Subsequent optometrist I never felt gave the best service.
I will continue to visit Dr. Victor Bautista for subsequent eye appointments. He is thorough, gentle and caring. Now if I could only find a dentist and general practice physician with Dr. Bautista high level of concern, expertise and professionalism – I would be delighted.
