Was here for the birthday bash as 2 of the 3 birthday boys were my buddies. This place isn’t that big, however I was definitely a fan of their restriction of the number of people inside. It never felt too crowded and there was always room to dance. It’s full bar with standard SF club prices, bottle service can also be gotten although there isn’t that much seating. DJ on the day was pretty good with a balanced mix of current music. I’m not sure if this place is normally like this as I was there for the birthday bash. Hopefully it never gets overcrowded. That’d be the only thing I’d be worried about

I had a special birthday party at Monroe and absolutely loved it. The space is perfect for a special event and the hosts were very accommodating to make sure everything functioned smoothly. My guests were stunned by the beauty of the space. I highly recommend Monroe for your private event.

I went to this lounge specifically for an event that my cousin participated in. And I’m happy to say that it was a success! So many different artists attended that night, and it was a great venue to see all of the art work that was provided for everyone. When you’re outside at first it looks fairly small, but to my surprise it was spacious and had great seating. The smoking section was nice as well, they had seating outside and tables, people could still be able to bring their drinks outside and smoke. Loved the fact that they had a «secret» bathroom, definitely beat the line out the door lol. The drinks are definitely a little pricey but what bar isn’t pricey on drinks… Other than that, they had great music, great artwork, and good vibes. I will definitely be visiting this lounge soon with my girlfriends.

Had an awesome time during our company holiday party! The bartenders were amazing and the drinks were delicious. Coat check was a bit of an issue(they had to pull my coat behind the bar and it knocked over a few things) but otherwise, it was a fantastic night!

My company chose Monroe for our annual holiday party and it did not disappoint! The venue is large enough to have areas devoted to different stations – food, dancing, photos, and drinking. The staff was very accommodating and were prompt in service. The décor is also so beautiful and I can’t wait to try this place with friends for a night out.

First time at Monroe. We came out to celebrate the new year. Had a great time. Bottle service was on point. Love the music and the company! Will come back :)

I really wanted to love this place. By the beginning of my 3rd visit I was practically giving off fan-girl pheromones. The décor is cute and staff is approachable and friendly. Folks inside the Friday progressive happy hour are dancing their happy butts out. And then I discovered the patio and saw the ugly reality of this tech-bro haven with fresh eyes. Folks here are rude and socially inept as fuuuuuuck! There is an exit via the patio. It’s just lazy and confusing to rope off the ONLY true exit to the lounge without staffing it. Because it’s roped off it basically becomes a wall and the patio is so small it gets packed and IMPOSSIBLE to keep clear. Tons of people, including SECURITY constantly stream in and out of the ROPEDOFFEXIT and/or shove their pungent bodies all up into you so they can look down the street to see what other muppets are about to puppy-pile on this mess. We had the misfortune of standing near the CLOSEDOFFEXIT. It was way too loud inside to hold a conversation. Tons of young, bright, hopeful tech assholes shoved past us to walk over the rope without even an apologetic glance let alone an «Excuse our socially inept selves, we’re aristocrats from Europe and have no concept of personal space.» Some even still had BRIEFCASES on them lolol. I guess that’s why they didn’t mind bashing their shitty laptops into our knees as they literally brushed past us. The cherry on top was when it was our time to leave some mouth-breather called me a CHINK. Keep it classy, assholes. PS In case it wasn’t clear, I now fucking hate this place and anyone who says they’re a regular

Checked this out for a work event so I may not have the best overall picture here but I’m giving it 4 stars for the interior space and as a good spot to have a private event. It looks cool and swanky inside and I loved the plush tufted couches that line the walls. I can see the space getting pretty tight and stuffy on a crowded weekend night. However, I’m giving this place a thumbs up if you want to have a more intimate gathering for a team event, private bday event, etc. It can comfortably handle around 40 – 50 people in there(probably more). The bartenders serving at our event were super awesome and accommodating too! They also have a nice little seating area in the back with large windows and doors that open out to the street if you need some air. Might be back to check out this spot on a night out!

We recently threw a book launch party at Monroe and the event was executed perfectly. From my initial contact through the actual event, Payam and his staff were responsive, helpful and easy to work with. We had about 100 people which was perfect — everyone had enough room to walk around and mingle. They even came up with a few custom drinks related to the theme of our party — our guests thought that was super clever. And they helped us find a caterer with a number of vegetarian options. All in all our party was a success and would definitely recommend this venue.

I’ve been to Monroe a few times, when I visit SF and because it has always been a blast I decided to have my bachelorette party here. Absolutely no regrets. It was the best bachelorette party ever. We had a large group of girls, reserved one of the booths and were treated like queens! I cannot say enough good things about the staff here and how well they treated us. Not only is Monroe beautiful and classy, but it has a chill vibe, especially when taking a break from dancing on the super cute outdoor patio. You can have the best of both worlds with a lounge and socializing feel to dancing the night away to 90s hip hop-which was SO awesome and a blast from the past. Thank you Monroe for making my bachelorette a night to remember … At least some of us remember it ;) you guys are the best! See you the next time I’m in the city!

Monroe plays songs from different eras depending on the time, such as music from the 2000s at 9pm, so you know exactly what you’re expecting. They also occasionally throw in a top 40 song which is also nice. Before 9pm, there’s super cheap drink specials which makes me wonder how they can afford to serve it at such a great price and be profitable at a venue like this. I came here on a Friday night at 9pm and it was half packed along with some undercovers everywhere. The line at the bar wasn’t too bad, there’s a nice area to sit and talk, a small dance floor in case you want to feel the music, which makes it a nice and relaxing atmosphere. The women’s bathroom seemed a bit dirty and there was a lack of toilet paper. I enjoyed the environment here before security kicked my friend out because he looked too intoxicated, which he wasn’t because his dancing was just terrible, which made him look drunk. I’m sure there were people inside that drank way more with a higher BAC, but they were able to stay and have fun, which I thought was a bit unfair.

We threw an event here for our launch party(rented out the space) and we were soooo IMPRESSED with Monroe. The décor? Divine. Truly beautiful and different. The drinks? So good. The DJ? Crushed it. Everybody was on the floor dancing. The hospitality? Amazing. The owner and events staff go above and beyond to help out and make it perfect. They truly make sure everything runs smoothly. So appreciated! We were able to bring some of our own decorations and outside food for branding and Monroe even set their lighting to match our company colors. A lot of our guests had never been to Monroe and they were all AWE’D over the place. The atmosphere is very retro Hollywood glam and charm BUT in the most modern way. If that makes sense! Lastly, it’s a perfect space to throw a rockin’ party or event where everyone has room to roam around but it still feels intimate. We had ~150 people. Would recommend Monroe to anyone wanting to throw a party or event, and of course to anyone just wanting to go and have a great time with friends. It’s always a fun and chic crowd. By far a favorite spot in San Francisco! For more pictures on the space, check out our recap of the night here:

Let me go ahead and set the scene here: Saturday night, September 19. Not a cloud in the sky and the air is crisp yet heavy with a sexual vibe. We decided it was the perfect night to splurge and get down with some old fashioned bottle service. Me and my crew(consisting of men and women) head to the bar excited to try out this place for the first time. We arrived at 11 to find a relatively long line. As we had VIP reservations we were able to skip the line and both guys and girls got in without hassle which can be an issue at times at other clubs. No peasants allowed. The service was GREAT and even more of a plus is our bottle service girl, i think her name was Sarah, was both attentive and easy on the eyes. We danced the night away on the floor and had an epic time. 5 stars from me and will definitely be back.

Monroe is a beautiful, classy place. That doesn’t mean it costs a lot. In fact, the happy hour at Monroe is one of the best in the city. I headed over at 6pm on a Friday evening and had three $ 1 vodka pineapples before heading out for dinner. I could only imagine how much more fun it gets later at night. I didn’t like that in order to get in for free, you have to follow Monroe on Instagram. I followed them on my way in and unfollowed immediately thereafter. The music is awesome and the space is a decent size. Monroe is a fun place to start a night of bar hopping.

Cover $ 20 Drinks :$$$$$ Crowd: Ehhh Dj: Better than average Area: small/medium Bonus: Across the street from a Hostel so good way to meet people This bar has changed hands several times. In the beginging, it was good. But still had some issues. This was when it first became a bar, I think the name of it was Red Dragon. Then it continously changed names, as did the owners and atmosphere. Now its more of a dive bar/club that carters to more of the lower social end of the population. Not to say that theres anything wrong with that. Every time I try to go in there and dance, it seems as if half of the club is sectioned of for a birthday party or something so you cant even dance. And if you try to walk over to the other section, which is the only way to really get outside, you get kicked out. The security there are racisit and sexist. If you’re white you will get kicked out; unless you’re a hot white girl. Overall, I wouldn’t dare coming close to this place.

MONROE! This spot is made for folks like me and my friends: want to drink after work, don’t want to sit in someone’s living room, OK with spending a little bit of money to do so. We talked about hitting Monroe last week but thought it was strip club and didn’t really want to pay cover so we ventured elsewhere. This time around we were headed to North Beach anyway so we stopped by on the way to see what all the hullabaloo was about. Here’s the gist, and really all anyone needs to know. 6−7pm: $ 1 well drinks and beers, 70s music requests with the DJ 7−8pm: $ 2 well drinks and beers, 80s music requests with the DJ 8−9pm: $ 3 well drinks and beers, 90s music requests with the DJ It made matters better that we got a sweet corner spot for me and my crew of six. It was like drinking in one of our living rooms but we were way closer to our goal on Columbus Café and closer to Tony’s pizza. Highly recommended, I know me and le crew will be returning soon.

Come for THE Battle of the Decades, every Friday. $ 1 beer and well drinks from 6−7pm! I don’t think I’ve ever ordered a drink for $ 1 before prior to this, exciteee! All you need to know about Battle of the Decades: 6−7pm: 70s music, $ 1 drinks 7−8pm: 80s music, $ 2 drinks 8−9pm: 90s music, $ 3 drinks 9−10pm: 2000s music, $ 4 drinks $ 1 drinks are well drinks and there’s a quick guide of options at the bar for those who are indecisive, and beers range from the crappy light beers of Rolling Rock, PBR, Budweiser, to MGD. I’m not complaining. Spacious club/lounge, the lengthy bar is easy on the eyes with its lighting. I don’t know anything about cover since I was there way before the clubbing crowd. The bar area started getting crowded around 7pm on Friday. Safe to say, if you’re there at 6pm drinking $ 1 drinks, there’s a very good chance you won’t make it to the hour when it switches from a lounge to club atmosphere.

I really dig the décor of this venue. It’s pretty classy, so no ratchets please! $ 5 cover if you’re not on the guest list, which is fine. Like I always say, cover keeps out the cheap creepers. Thank goodness the DJ does NOT play EDM(at least on the Thursday we went). He played hip hop/R&B, and then later on, he played old school hip hop/R&B. I am all about that life! Pro tip: order shots instead of mixed drinks to get your money’s worth. Cranberry vodka was basically straight up cranberry juice. PS. Bartender Scott is a little cutie with nice hair. ;)

I went here for a friend’s birthday celebration on a Friday night. The cover was free for everyone before 10 pm which is always good. The place was pretty small too and can get really crowded quickly as the night goes on. The bar was also decent sized and the bartender was really friendly. She was fun and gave us some great drinks! Also, happy hour lasts until 10 pm. On this night, the DJ was whack! The music stopped completely on 4 different occasions and the variety was bad. At one point, it was all 90s R&B, then to EDM, then to 70s music. For a crowd that’s mostly young adults, the vibe was mixed as some people were liking the music or people were absolutely hating it. This was my first night here so maybe it was a one time thing. This is a decent lounge. The music wasn’t the greatest but I met some fun people and still had a great time! The décor was nice and the drinks were good. I had a decent experience and will give it another shot some time.
