Oxygen Bar

Came here drunk off my ass thinking how cool it would be to look like I’m in a hospital with those things up my nose to gimme oxygen. Well, there’s several «flavors» u can try. dont remember what i chose… i was drunk remember. BUT, it totally ruined my buzz. bastards could have warned me.

I just laugh thinking about this place because I remember coming here and thinking this place was weird but cool at the same time. I came here with my boyfriend and he thought the same thing. I tried the scented oxygen and felt calm and good but my boyfriend was just looking at me like I was crazy. The drinks were interesting but wouldn’t do it again… I guess I won’t be able to now because it’s closed!

I was walking by today, and saw that they’re out of business, and selling the equipment.

I was forced to come here, thanks to a company moron’s idea that we all need to bond outside of work somewhere «trendy» and sing kumbaya. Team building is for losers!
What’s more humiliating? Mandatory socializing with your idiot coworkers. OR mandatory socializing with your idiot coworkers at Oxygen Bar, hooked up to «oxygen,» looking like we’re all boarding at the same assisted-​dying facility.
Oxygen is just scented air forced into your nostrils. If too many people are hooked up to the same scent, the flow will be weak. Did not feel any different. Except, you feel like a dorky degenerate wearing the plastic tubing. Tube thingy made my nose itch.
Lousy sushi. LOUSY. The sushi rice was off. Too dry. The avocado was pale yellow, rather than green. I convinced some idiot coworkers that they were actually pats of butter.
Some interesting sake drinks. They also serve Elixir Tonics for the non-​alkies.
The bonus prize was that I finally got to leave after a couple of hours and trek over to one of the luxurious Mission Bart stations. And because I was born under a such a lucky lucky star, I got to hop on to a train 10 minutes before a shooting happened. Lucky me.

I went here before they served sushi and sake… if only I had known I would have waited! Some people stuffed a hose up their nose, I opted for some sort of ‘elixir’ not of the ilk I could get from Jack’s…I guess I felt good, but then again, I almost always feel good, unless it’s morning. Now they have excellent sake and that really makes me feel groovy.

I’m not a big fan of breathing O2, but the sake, DJs, and staff – like Lars – make for a great place to hang out.
The sushi is alright.

Skip the gimmicky oxygen treatments and head straight to the bar. Bartender/​sushi-​chef Lars makes very good drinks, maki rolls, music selections and conversation. I prefer it on the weeknights, when it’s slower and makes a great place to talk to friends without having to shout. When they have live DJs the music is usually pretty listenable, if not the most exciting. I wouldn’t usually spend the whole night here, but it makes a nice retreat from the more crowded Valencia Street spots.

I did feel refreshed (or was it a psychological factor?) but I don’t think I’d ever pay for (fruit-​scented) oxygen ever again.

After making fun of it for months, I finally went to Oxygen Bar to have sushi. The sushi was actually okay but then the owner came to our table and asked us to distribute flyers and then went on to talk smack about Yo Yo Sushi, which just so happens to be one of my favorite sushi places. First of all, your customers are not your promo people and it’s not good business to insult other restaurants. So, I will never come to the Oxygen Bar ever again. The end.

This is one of those places you bring your friends from out of town. Preferably if they are from one of the fly over states and wouldn’t have access to such a thing. They have oxygen, sushi and tea on the menu. The tea is excellent, the oxygen has a placebo calming effect but it sure does smell good and the sushi is dreadful. I personally hated it. They usually have decent DJs and art on the wall. Great place for people watching.
