It was awesome to find a place in SoMa close to Caltrain that wasn’t crazy crowded! I could actually talk to my friend and we could hear each other without shouting. However, there is probably a reason for the lack of crowds. Food, drinks, and service were just«okay» and décor is sort of dark and uninviting. We tried the«Amaze-rolls» which were like fried pulled-pork egg rolls. These were recommended by the bartender and I liked the crispiness, but the flavor was just average. They had wine on tap(nice), but ordering one was not easy. The bartender kept disappearing around the large bar, and seemed to spend most of her time paying attention to the bar-back she was working with instead of the customers. I would come back here as a convenient place to meet someone and talk over a drink, but I wouldn’t bring someone here if I was looking for an impressive experience.

The bartender is über sensitive Lili, takes offense real easy(picked-on) n is basically authority extreme dude. The Bouncers love to push and shove patrons deemed«rowdy». It’s Fans who love to talk smack! As soon as sensitivity guy feels unloved he calls his goons to intervene. Personally hope This place goes broke from tweedle dee and dum bouncer, chumps

I visited San Francisco last month with my father. Fresh off a flight from NY we headed to a Giants game and found this place on the walk. We were intrigued by the NY reference and were glad we stumbled it. For a Friday night before a game it wasn’t uncomfortably packed and the servers were friendly & attentive. Seemed like a great menu for pub grub standards. Wings were top notch and I respect any place that puts tots on the menu. Perfect place to go before the game.

Stopped in before heading to the Giants game! From the bouncer — I mean door man — to the waitress, bussers, & bar tenders, this place rocks! Lots of tv screens, friendly patrons & quick service! Prices are reasonable compared to others in the area! Cant wait to go back!

Had some good pregame beers here while taking in the Wyoming football game replay from over the weekend. The Polo Grounds, the name essentially calls all Giants fans to come in and grab a COLDBEER. I was around the area before the start of the the Giants game yesterday and was itching for a beer. I had to choose either here or Momos. From the horror stories that I have heard about Momos I knew exactly where I was heading. I walked in and found this place exactly as how I imagined. Couple of suits and then the rest seemed like patrons. I walked up the counter and order a beer and then took my seat. The first thing I noticed is that there are no stools near the windows for sitting. I guess you are suppose to stand and drink your beer if you are over there, hmmm, ok. The bartender seemed nice enough. Asked if I wanted to open a tab and I told her no. I am more of a cash guy. In carrying cash you don’t spend in excess!!! Cash limits mean moderation and control. Remember that for all you young and underage drinker. Well, if you are underage you probably think you know everything anyway so don’t even worry about it. As far as the entertainment, there are several TV’s inside and they constantly have them going. I think I counted somewhere around 4TV’s I think, maybe more. There is an awesome piece of Giants artwork on the wall on the right corner here. There was one gentleman that came in that left disgruntled. He came in and sat at the bar but was never greeted or served. I saw him sit for approximately 15 minutes. I do not know where the bartenders were but they were no where to be found. I felt bad for the guy. Also, there was a guy and girl that came in and the dude was just odd. He kept lifting his shirt and talking very LOUDLY! Eventually he and his friend descended to a booth but he was just no appropriate for this place. The sad thing about it is that he seemed like a regular. Eventually as it closer to game time more people came in. A family even came in with their baby. It was weird seeing a baby in a pub but they also serve food so it’s okay, I GUESS!!! The pricing of the beer here is decent. Nothing too obscure in the pricing of the beers or well drinks. I will return again at some point. Oh, and nobody bothers you too much either. At least in the early afternoon, I don’t know about at night.

Come here a decent amount since it’s right by my apartment. The bartenders are awesome, always friendly and do a great job. The food is also good. I ordered mac and cheese the other day(not the best mac i’ve had but it definitely satisfied my craving). The mac is LOADED. It comes with bacon, jalepenos, onions, and tomatoes. I passed on the bacon and jalepenos, but maybe the mac would’ve been better if I hadn’t. Who knows. They have a good beer selection and a good specialty drink/shot selection. Very busy on game days but also very fun! You’ll probably end up standing but that shouldn’t be too surprising since it’s right across from AT&T park. Will definitely keep coming back here!

Not the best sports bar out there but pretty good bar. Great staff though, drinks priced right, there’s food if you want, 1 coin-op pool table, chill atmosphere. Can be pretty tight/loud/stuffy during game days but which wateringhole around the ballpark isn’t? «I’ll be Bach»

After a long day at work, a couple coworkers and I took the bus to Polo Grounds for their weekly trivia night on Thursday’s at 7PM. Thankfully, no Giants game on that day so the bar was full, but not crazy. I’m not usually a big trivia fan, but I had an awesome time at Polo Grounds. The atmosphere was very chill and relaxing which was much needed. The bar is fairly standard with their offerings, but they do have a decent selection of food to go along with drinks. Most of the food on the menu was around $ 10 and beers around $ 6(which is not bad). Also there is plenty of seating so bring lots of friends to join your team! If you are looking for a good place to unwind on a Thursday night, Polo Grounds is the place to be. Great atmosphere and fun times.

Close to Caltrain San Francisco station, these guys are open until late. So if you are waiting for the last train and find no other place opened, well, this is the place to go.

Love this spot. My local pub. The food is pretty good. 50c wing Wednesdays and dollar street taco Tuesdays. Enjoy a pint or ten and a game of pool. Staff super friendly and professional. Only downside is they don’t have a huge draft selection.

Best place to have a beer and bite before a Giants game; service is amazing and bartenders are very helpful and actually answer your question and don’t reply by saying«everything is good in the menu», they tell you what’s poplar(steak nachos)!

An A-OK bar that is conveniently a block away from AT&T Park! For $ 8, you can get beer or a shot. For $ 10, you can pick between a few choices of bomb drinks(shot and another liquid). Besides bar seating, they also have booths and individual tables. There are tons of people pre-gaming here before the Giants game. And there are tons of people who are staying at the bar to watch the game. They have a jukebox, which is kind of cool. But they put up a sign that says if there’s a(I’m assuming, local team) game on, they don’t allow people to use it so people can watch the game. They have different happy hour deals everyday, so ch-ch-check it out!

A convenient spot to grab a drink before the game. Always seem to end up here before going into the park. It gets hectic and you likely will need to wait for a drink or a table, but before a game that is kind of customary. Ambiance is nice tho, makes you wana get drunk, so they are doing something right.

Went there on 5.8.15 bouncer did a great job keeping control of the crowd, a couple drunk idiots tried to get in with no success. On another note, For over priced drinks I expect better service. The female bartender seemed oblivious and impersonal. Meaning pay more attention to the customer needs and less time on her cell phone.

I’m basing this on the service… or rather the lack there of. I’m sitting here, looking at the bartender who clearly doesn’t give a rats ass about new customers. It’s been 10 minutes and he hasn’t even greeted us. Now upon greeting us, low and behold he’s so trashed it’s no wonder he didn’t want to serve us, he couldn’t even think right when telling us about another place that had an open kitchen, let alone think about making a drink right! It’s safe to say me and my friend will never be going there again.

This is a nice bar to grab a drink at before the game, but the prices are just too high for me make this my regular bar for this area. Beers range in price from $ 6 for domestic draft to around $ 8 for craft brew, with cocktails starting at right around $ 9 for basic well drinks. The mood is very lively in here, plenty of good times to be had, but just know that you always pay for the experience, i’d personally rather make the trek to 21st Amendment to get my money worth.

A fun spot for Thursday night trivia, with an ok selection of beers and THEBEST(pub-style) buffalo tenders I’ve had in the city. They’re comfort-food good. Make sure to ask for tater tots with your order instead of fries — it makes all the difference. :) The staff are cool and down-to-earth, but they usually seem overwhelmed and/or under-staffed. If you don’t mind waiting a bit, it’s not a problem.

Second time here, first time I didn’t have a good experience the bartender was extremely rude and I think she might have even been wasted it was a Wednesday day time shift! But let me tell you the bartender today Jen was freaking awesome the food was amazing we had the nachos that I could for sure eat everyday of my life and be a fatty! She was extremely present in every way and I will do my best to only come in for her shifts when I can make it out this way! 5 to you Jen way to mark your territory on this fine establishment ;)

This place seemed very promising. My coworkers and I came here for a few drinks and appetizers during the 5 inning of a Giants game. We ended up ordering over $ 300 worth of food and drinks. However, I have never been so disrespected and utterly upset at the way we were treated by the staff. There was a pool table that had its cover on and we asked the bartender if we could play. She blatantly ignored us and went back to helping the regulars sitting at the bar top. There were a total of 10 people in the bar, 6 of them were myself and my group. We wanted to play pool so we took off the cover, there were no rules or signs stating that we couldn’t play or use the table, so we went for it. About 5 minutes later, the bartender that originally ignored us came rushing over. She called my coworker a drunk idiot and continued to cuss at him and our group. She told us that we were making her job more difficult than it needed to be. She then grabbed the pool cues and threw them by my coworker’s feet and saying extremely unprofessional things about us like if we weren’t even standing there. She then continues to tell everyone in the bar including the people at the bar, the other bartenders, and the bouncer about how idiotic we are. So we don’t let it bother us and continue playing pool. I guess this made her really upset because she comes back to us to cuss at us some more. Then the bouncer comes over to us and explains that they typically don’t allow people to play pool while the Giants’ game is on because it gets too crowded. Then he tells us that he has to kick us out because we made the bartender really upset. Her behavior just didn’t make any sense to me. If she knew we weren’t supposed to be playing pool at the time, then why did she bring out the cues? Also, there were no instructions about when we could play, so she could have easily come up to us and explained it, just like the bouncer did. Overall, horrendous experience and I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Years walking past Polo Grounds wishing for a decent place to get a beer by the park. With an hour to kill before the game, we made our way past the crowds of people to have a beer. Although the bar was packed, we were lucky enough to get a table. If you think you can grab a table to enjoy a beer — think again. Tables are reserved for customers ordering food, so after looking over their menu we ordered half a dozen wings, fries and two beers. We didn’t come in thinking we’d grab some food, kudos to Polo Grounds on making a bit more money off the AT&T crowd. Coors Light was $ 5 for a pint or you could get a pitcher for $ 20 which has roughly 4 beers. Rather than have our beer sit at the table and rise in temperature, we ordered beers as needed. 10 to 15 minutes later our appetizers came out and although I didn’t indulge in the wings, I was told they were great. I did, however, try the fries and they were better than expected: seasoned, flavorful, and crispy. Service was great beginning to end which was very surprising considering the large crowd. At one point, our waitress forgot to bring me a beer and was quick to apologize and didn’t charge me for the beer. A very nice gesture that was factored in when leaving her tip. With a great layout, plenty of beer, TVs, specials, and great service, Polo Grounds is one of the better(and cheaper) places to drink and eat before, during or after the game. Ambiance/Décor: 4⁄5 Food: 4⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Price: $$ Overall: 4⁄5 Pros: + Across the street from AT&T Park + Full bar with specials(non game days) + Food menu available with table service + Tasty appetizers(wings and fries) + Great service + Reasonable beer pricing($ 5 for Coors Light pint; $ 20 Coors Light pitchers) + Credit/debit accepted + Wells Fargo ATM next door Cons: — Bar will undoubtedly be busy during game days
