Update: Ok, I still miss the veggies and simple salads they made when they opened. And, the food is expensive, but there’s no denying the quality of the ingredients. BUT, I decided to grab a NorCal Sandwich and an almond flour chocolate cookie today, and they were DELICIOUS. The sandwich was so clean and fresh. It’s not very big compared to what you might be used to, but it’s really just the right size. I’ll be giving Seed + Salt more tries when I want clean vegetarian/GF food. Old: Unfortunately, everything that was great about this place when they opened has disappeared. Where are the simple veggie dishes? Everything now is trying too hard. Please bring back the basic veggie salads and dishes! The shake also is not as good as it used to be, and for over $ 15 it really should be!

I was excited when Seed + Salt opened. In the beginning it was really good but the last months it went downhill. You can really see(and taste!) that they try to save on money… bad service, little food for lots of money. Gladly there are other options in the Marina. Food: it’s hit and miss. And even with dishes you tried and liked before it can be totally different the next time. The beet burger can be very good and the next time it’s only dry old bread with dry beet patty with hardly any sauce. There is no consistency at all. Service: unfriendly and slow. There is always an issue: they forget an item, they bring the wrong item, they charge more dishes than you’ve ordered etc. So check your receipt and your order to make sure that you get what you have paid for. Prices: overpriced. One piece of toast with a bit avocado costs $ 8. The beet burger with avocado is $ 18. The portions are very small. They used to be bigger. Lately they started to save on food and fill the bowls only half way or put the spread on very thinly. Staff: The staff is very unorganized and seems not happy working there. I hardly see the same person twice so the fluctuation of the staff must be high. Not a good sign. Last week we met the owner for the first time. Now I understand why Seed + Salt doesn’t work. She was very rude and arrogant to her customers as well as to her staff. It was total chaos in the shop although hardly any people were there.

Get the Quinoa Falafel Wrap! Unlike any collard wrap I’ve ever had! If you need any recommendations on the menu, ask Tim. He was super kind and knowledgeable :).

I ordered on grubhub and was really disappointed in everything. Fairly bland food overall, the sauces are odd and actually made the flavor worse. I ordered 3 items and they were all terrible and with delivery was $ 53. There is much better food out there! Save yourself the time money and frustration.

I’ve been taste testing plant/veggie burgers and really enjoyed the beet burger here. Patty was a good size, not too thin, and it was served on a gluten free burger bun which was very good. It’s pricey, but next time I will pay to add one of the toppings such as the grilled onions or avocado. Don’t let them forget to give you the pickles that come with it! Also tried the vegan taco salad with walnut chorizo. Enjoyable but it could use avocado and more of the cashew cream to add more substance and richness to the salad. It was very light.

If you’re a vegan, you’ll love this place. If you’re hard-core gluten free you’ll love this place too! It’s a fairly small sized space with a couple six-bench community tables made of wood and some single bar-style seats facing the windows. It’s a casual atmosphere and perfect to grab food on the go or a quick lunch. You order at the counter and wait patiently for the happy chefs in the back to make whatever vegan specialty you pick out from the glass case. They’ve got sandwiches, like a mock-Rueben or plant based burger. They’ve got salads with tons of variations of faux-meats and meat or cheese replacements like Tempeh, Yam and sweet potatoes… They also have some other dishes like«Green Curry Bowl» like the one I ordered. What I loved about my small bowl of vegan delight was the pea sprouts, the yams, the thick flavorful sauce, the other veggies and even the rice. So basically everything about it… The chairs /benches are kind of tight because it’s a small space. Also watch out ordering any extras, because it may not be the same price as on the menu! I saw so many other delicious dishes I want to try and it’s close to Cow Hollow where I work! I’m stoked. I talked to a few dedicated regulars there while I ate at the community table and they were raving about every thing on the menu being phenomenal too! Enjoy!

Great food(yes, it is pricey) — I love this kind of stuff. Breakfast sandwich and choc chip cookie. And the best — Steve the singer made my day with some fantastic blues while I ate. Will be back — hopefully when Steve is playing and making the day better for all.

Really enjoyed the almond butter + chia jam toast. I want to try all of their toasts. I just don’t think the price is worth the flavor. Hot cacao is $ 8!

highly recommend their beet burger, super bowl and gamechanger drink. Beet burger was big portion and came with same side dishes. super bowl was made of berry mix jam, cashew cream and garnish with nuts, goji berries and sesame seed.

It bums me out to write a not so hot review for a new up and coming vegan restaurant, but I left Seed + Salt unsatisfied. After looking at their menu I was super excited to head to the city from the east bay, get a long run in along Crissy Field, and then get down on some good vegan grub! When you walk into S+S you feel enthused about having a vegan restaurant in such a good location. They have all the sweets displayed and a menu that looks awesome. I ordered the power house sandwich on bread. The taste was pretty good, but the small sandwich disappeared in about 5 – 6 bites. $ 14 sandwich and I left starving. At that price the sandwich should come with some fruit and a small kale salad.

I feel like a sucker every time I buy a $ 16 salad here. The food is always just ok, never great, never even very, very good. The sweets are ok, but I’ve absolutely had better. The fact that there are so many positive reviews seems to be a reflection of the lack of vegan and/or gluten free or «healthy» options in the City, rather than any excellence by Seed and Salt. And the service is really terrible. Today, there were two people working, and each of them was dealing with some sort of screw up. The woman at the register was on the phone, so no one greeted me for several minutes. I go there often(see above re lack of healthy options…) and there is often some sort of issue: service is slow; confusion with my order; they’re out of something; service is rude… and on and on. The biggest thing, though, is that Seed and Salt just seems kind of… soulless. There are no happy vegans there(absolutely including the staff). No one seems excited. The food in the case looks wilted and old. You receive your food in sad cardboard containers and eat with disposable utensils. The water glasses are tiny and disposable. The seats are uncomfortable. It’s all crazy expensive. The portions are small — there is no abundance. Seed and Salt is beautiful, but it doesn’t seem to have been designed with a great customer experience in mind. Despite how healthy the food may be, I don’t feel better walking out than I did walking in.

I’ve meant to try this place forever! Finally, I was able to stop by and pick up lunch. The woman working behind the counter was super patient and helpful and pointed out all of her favorite dishes. I have celiac disease, so anytime I encounter a restaurant that is 100% gluten-free, I deal with option overload! Everything looked delicious, but I ended up ordering the beet«burger» and buffalo cauliflower. The beet burger was SO good, and I cannot wait to try it again! The cauliflower was good, but not good enough to have me craving it and making a special trip across town for it. I’ll be back soon.

This place is like that super hot guy/girl who by all logic should not still be single. It looks like paradise, with gorgeous design and a healthy glow, and a clean conscience. But then, he/she starts to talk and you know why. In this case, reality arrives on your tray in the form of a tiny pile of lettuce with a few strips of seasoned tofu on top. I was expecting a LOT more wow considering that, plus a cookie and coffee, this cost $ 23 before tip! So disappointing. And the service is atrocious — the worst combination of too-bored-for-you and not in any way listening to your actual order. Why did I ever stray from Blue Barn? Never again.

Background note: I’m not vegan, but my girlfriend is. I don’t buy organic, but my girlfriend does. Thus, a lot of this review will be a mix between our reactions, but more influenced by the girlfriend. I was debating between a 3 and 4, but because my girlfriend enjoyed it so much, I leaned more towards 4. I wish you could give half-stars on Unilocal because this is a 3.5 place for me. Service: Friendly, quick service. The cashier walked us through any item we had a question on. The place was small, but very clean and definitely gave us the«organic» feel(plants on the wall, buckets of nuts/seeds everywhere, etc.). The cashier even gave us a free piece of cookie to try. Food: We came on a Saturday morning, so we got all breakfast items. I got the Super Bowl, which is a vegan play on a yogurt parfait. If you like yogurt parfaits, you’ll like this better I think. The cashew cream tasted light and delicious, and the berry parfait on the bottom was great. My girlfriend got the Savory Chickpea Frittata. Contrary to what some other reviews said, she said it was nice and hot and cooked well. Price: This, to me, is what brings the star rating down. The place(again, to me) is severely overpriced, so much so that I don’t think I’d go back on my own. The Super Bowl was probably about the size of your standard yogurt parfait, but cost about 5 times as much. If you do go here, I get it, organic food is expensive. Still, $ 8 for a 6oz cup of cashew cream and berry parfait seems a little ridiculous. Food? Good. Service? Great. Price? Too much for me. I would suggest going here for a small meal or snack so you don’t break the bank, but don’t go here expecting to leave full on a decent price.

A truly solid vegan joint, which are more difficult to come by in this city than one would think. The menu is manageably small without feeling limited, and the couple of times we’ve dropped in the people working have been friendly and helpful with making choices. I didn’t care for the beet burger that’s so popular here, even though(or maybe because?) I’m a big beet fan. The spaghetti squash with buckeye balls, quinoa falafel and kale caesar salad were all hits. They also have a seasonal kale/quinoa/squash salad that was fantastic. Ambiance makes it best for takeout, but the seating works well enough for a quick bite. Great neighborhood for window shopping and people watching, though parking can be a challenge.

I’m between a 3.5 and a 4 here, so I’m going with the latter. My partner and I ordered two things to share including a special, the buffalo cauliflower, and the not tuna sandwich. The first item, the buffalo cauliflower, was awful for me but my partner thought it was edible so he ate it. The sandwich was much better and I really enjoyed the first two-four bites, but something about the bread made it much less enjoyable after those first few bites. The bread was super dense and just strange, I had a hard time finishing the sandwich because of this. I think if there was more sandwich(e.g., lettuce, veggies, chickpeas, etc.) and less bread the sandwich would have been much better. Nevertheless, I’ll still give Seed + Salt another shot in the future.

This place is an organic, local, and cruelty-free haven, especially for a vegan like me. My meat-eating friends also had a similarly amazing experience with our visit here. We were in the city for a weekend, doing touristy things, and happened to find this place on Unilocal for a lunch stop while biking from Fisherman’s Wharf across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. I ordered the NorCal sandwich(cashew dill cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, carrot, radish, and sprouts), one friend ordered the Not Tuna Salad sandwich(chickpeas, celery, red onion, kelp, dulse, dill, and lemon-flax mayo), and the other friend ordered the zucchini spaghetti and veggie balls. What was standout for us was the blend of flavors, especially knowing that they use natural, vegan ingredients. They definitely know how to make healthy spin-offs of classics without sacrificing taste! The staff were friendly and helped me make a decision about which flavor of kombucha soda to pick — I ended up going with the hibiscus strawberry and it was a great choice. I love how this place recycles and composts, as well as plays good music(Bön Iver, Regina Spektor, etc). I found the prices to be super reasonable for the wholesome food they’re making. Definitely coming back if I’m in the SF area!

What a fun spin on vegetarian food! Seed + Salt dishes up a great variety of plant based, gluten free treats, soup, salads, and sandwiches. I had never heard of eggplant bacon, so naturally I had to try the Eggplant BLT. Wow, this sandwich was amazing. I am a serious lover of all things carbs, including gluten :) but this bread totally fooled me, I couldn’t even tell it was gluten free. The eggplant bacon was thin, crispy, and had a great tangy flavor. My favorite was the pimenton mayo, which almost had a chipotle type flavor. So good! The sandwiches are also available as a lettuce wrap for those looking for a lighter option. Note– nearly all items on the menu include nuts, so this is not a safe option for those with nut allergies. Sandwiches and salads are moderately priced between $ 12 – 14.

The S+S Vegan Burger was very good. A bit tiny, but yummy! The gluten free bun was excellent, I asked what flours they use and it is: white & brown rice! Super moist. My husband had the falafel wrap. I tried it and I wasn’t a huge fan of collard green wrap, it was very hard and had strong taste but with the amazing burger and the great looking pastries, I would definitely come back to this place! There are bike spots in the front which was nice. We were able to eat on an outside table with lots of sun, which was very pleasant. Great area to have lunch in.

I was in the area and wanted to eat something delicious and healthy. I ordered the not tuna salad plate, the gamechanger juice, and my husband ordered the eggplant BLT. The woman up front entered my plate as the sandwich version, but I was so hungry that I didn’t bother to ask her to correct it when my food came out. Luckily for me it was amazing! You can get your sandwich served on a whole grain GF bread or collard wrap. As for the eggplant BLT, I wasn’t a fan, but my husband loved it… I’ll stick to real bacon lol. The juice I ordered was called the Gamechanger: romaine, dinosaur kale, cucumber, parsley, Gala apple, lemon, ginger, mint. Since I make my own juice at home, I felt that $ 11 was a bit much for it, but it was good, I was thirsty and it saved the day. As for pricing, nothing in SF surprises me anymore. Yes, it’s a bit on the pricey side, but that’s what you pay for a good clean, organic, free from added b.s. meal. Overall I enjoyed seed+salt and it was fun sitting at the window and people watching.
