You don’t need to be a member to enjoy the quiet and view from this great downtown lunch spot. Go to the door to the left of the Four Seasons and go up the elevator to the 4th floor. The restaurant and bar are on your right. The food is healthy and good, though not spectacular. What’s great about this place is the sunny view up Grant Street, and the fact that you can always get a table. It’s my place of choice for a very casual, but somewhat special, business lunch meeting.

If I could: 3.5 stars right now but over the past 2 years it would be 4.0. This is a good place for getting either lunch or post-workout dinner for us. It’s got tasty food and really good prices, who would have thought?! The only thing is that since the beginning of this year, the selection of their yummy salads after 7:30 has become so sparse that we’d rather eat at home. Last year they used to have a lot more choice and it was a nice and easy option to have dinner here after spin class. Hope they get their evening selection up again.

I love this café. You can get a huge plate of steamed brocolli, carrots and cauliflower for $ 4.50.

Great place to come and have a bite for lunch and watch the world go by. So much light pouring through the windows on this miserable rainy day. Sat on a comfy couch over in the corner. Felt like I was Jan Wahl overlooking the Gay Freedom Parade commenting with Donna Sachet to my left(aka my boss Bob). Mahi Mahi Tacos were yummy and very generous portion for $ 11. I could have split it with Donna Sachet. I mean Bob but he took on the beef burger and ate every little crumb. This place keeps healthy choices in mind and allowed for my companions to substitute fresh vegetables for the french fries. Everyone seemed Happy. I’ll go back to see if they can earn two more stars for faster service. It was pleasant service just not very quick and we had to hunt the waitress down to get our bill. But I shouldn’t complain my boss picked up the tab.

I love coming to this place to get a good work out then lounge around on the sofa and get some school work done. They don’t mind if you lounge around but you should buy something. Peanut butter cup smoothie tastes like you’re drinking a recess pieces. Breakfast is great here– huevos rancheros, apple smoked sausage and turkey bacon. as far as dinner the mahi mahi burger is good, and the mini burgers are a hit!

I am biased because I am crafting my ’09 Business Week blog schedule from the café right now as I Unilocal… My Unilocal now«read and regurgitate» other people’s work, so here goes @ML I agree with your thoughts on the salmon bowl. But the benefit is the bar, open seating and multitudes of TVs. I pre-eat here when I do a tweener meal of veggies. The fruit plate is really good too. @wilhelm Beers is good here. Coffee is good here. There is also a secret meeting room tucked all the way in the back if you’re doing a pow-wow away from the adjoining Four Seasons. @emma I agree with the fact that working out more causes you to eat more. The food is concocted to be healthy, but they have the ability to fry it or add a ton of butter. The best use of this space is to use it as a city oasis that feels very family room-ish. You can nurse a beer, smuggle in a coffee bean and do a breakfast meetings back-to-back-to-back. Remember, I am a fan of the space, the location, the water dispenser and easy access to steam room at SCLA. Hope this Unilocal review helps you.

A friend of mine bartends here a couple of nights each week so along with two other friends we went to dine here just to check it out. There are about 5 tables which seat 3 or 4 each, but we took seats at the bar so we could converse with our friend and check out game 1 of the World Series. There’s also a lounge area that the bar staff waits on. I can’t tell you whether our friend mixes a good drink because we didn’t really test her as we all ordered beers. They have a wide assortment of bottled beers as well as Stella Artois and Anchor Steam on tap. I intended to return to work afterwards so I just had a Stella myself. The trendy little menu consists of salads, a daily flatbread, sandwiches, rice bowls and a few meat entrees for the heavier eater. There are nice little descriptions of each selection. Being a restaurant inside a gym it appeared that most of the selections were fairly healthy as I don’t recall seeing anything deep fried on the menu. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken Rice Bowl with brown rice. You can have any of their rice selections with either jasmine rice or brown rice. Our friend put in our orders to the kitchen. This is where the dining experience fell flat. Although we were enjoying good conversation throughout I’d say it took about thirty minutes or more before our food arrived. That was the only downfall I could really think of. The food was very good and very filling. In a large, deep dish rice bowl was a generous serving of brown rice topped off with sliced shiitake mushrooms, spears of crunchy broccolini, strips of crunchy, sweet red bell peppers and chopped, blanched peanuts. Kung Pao dishes are usually a bit spicy, but there was no spicyness in this rice bowl. The sauce was nicely seasoned and just a bit on the sweet side. The all white meat chicken chunks were somehow seared to retain the juices, but for me anyway it was the combination of the flavors between the peanuts, the sauce and the brown rice that made this selection delicious. The bar staff(friend included) was cool in that they didn’t mind us hanging around for another two hours after we had finished our meals. There is no dessert menu because it is a gym so don’t ask. Had it not been for a slow kitchen I may have even suggested that this place be a 4.5 but I’m gonna say it’s a 3.5 based on one visit.

The food is so-so, but not worth their high prices. Their salmon bowl is decent, but not for $ 11. The only thing I’ll come back for is their sweet potato fries! I’m always a sucker for those…

One would think that a café at a Sports Club would know what a correct portion size is. I ordered the garden burger for lunch and could barely finish a third of it. Maybe they want people to eat too much so that they have to continue to pay for a gym membership. After all, one of the personal trainers there told my friend who was trying to lose weight that she had to eat more to lose weight. After losing no weight at all, in spite of hundreds of dollars of personal training sessions, she asked her thin friends what they ate, and they were all eating less than half of what she was eating.
