This is the best place to get Korean food and drinks for cheap price. I got Kimchi fried rice, spicy wings, Kalbi and couple of cocktail soju here. Wings were crispy and souce was awesome, kimchi fried rice was good to fill out my stomach, and Kalbi was soooo good. They have dinner special for 3 dishes for 29 $ and it was big portion that three of us were very full. Lychee, paradise, yogurt soju here is my favorite and I wanna try other flavor next time. The owner there is hella friendly and waitress were nice! I highly recommend here if u wanna try Korean cuisine and soju!

My Friends and I went here at around 11 pm and everything we ordered was over priced and disgusting. We ordered kimchi stew and chicken with a side of rice. The kimchi tasted super old and the rice tasted fine. It’s just that the kimchi was super wilted and sour, not worth the money. When we ate the stew all we tasted was dish water broth. It had no flavor and it just made me want to gag. The chicken was the worst of all, I expected it to be good because usually Korean chicken is seasoned with lots of flavor however It tasted burnt. I’ve tried a lot of Korean chicken before but this one was super burnt and it didn’t even have drum sticks when the description didn’t include that information. It would’ve been a good place to eat because it opens late but the food isn’t good at all. Just don’t come here. We literally threw up all our food and got sick right after.

So they remodeled this place and now are owned by a very sweet couple. Amazing service and food! I recommend the spot teriyaki wings and curry fries, the guava soju is also amazing !

A few things you come to expect from a Korean restaurant were lacking here. For complimentary dishes you get just 3 things and pop corn. Ellen wanted brown/purple rice but they didn’t have them. Kimchi fried rice was alright. Seafood pancake was quite thick. The only strong plus food-wise was that they put a lot of stuff into their Seafood tofu soup. The owner was very pleasant and likable. Came again later with friends and ordered chicken gizzards which we all agreed was really oily. Fries and popcorn chicken were both average. For Soju we tried mango, watermelon, guava, and melon flavor(my preference also in that order). They put a lot of ice in the melon soju and it tastes milky for some reason, though there was improvement in taste after mixing it well.

I’m really sad because they no longer serve mussels here. Everything else is a bit pricey and mediocre at best. We will not be coming back

Bomb ass Korean food and bomb ass cocktail soju. I’m from Korea so I know what’s good with Korean food and I was so disappointed with Korean food in SF. Even tho the spot is a bar/restaurant they make one of the best and was beyond my expectation. And their cocktail soju was so fruity and delishy. When you first walk in they give you pop corn. My friend and I ordered meat stew, half teriyaki half spicy wings and guava soju. The meat stew is so bomb it’s like buttery but has the mild flavor you need and it just goes along super well. And the wings were crispy and big portion. It was my first time trying guava soju and became my favorite. Food isn’t too expensive for college students like me. Must try place. Staffs are hella friendly too.

Under new management: Very good food and atmosphere. From Sunday’s to Thursday’s you can order their dinner special for $ 29. I got the kalbi, kimchi fried rice, and seafood soup. Everything was very good and the portions were just right. The owner is very nice as well. If you’re looking for a Korean restaurant with a laid back environment I highly recommend The Spot Lounge. I will definitely come back again.

I never came before the remodel so can’t make any comparisons, but the exterior and interior looks cleaned and new. The employees were always smiling at customers. But there was an older man behind the bar on his phone which I’m assuming the owner or something. I really hate seeing owners on their phones at the front of the restaurant not helping customers –_– The menu was veeerrryyyy confusing to me. Words and orders were all cluttered up. Font sizes all the same, name or description. The words were so close together without being numbered I couldn’t tell from one item to the next(see photo). They gave my boyfriend and I 3 side dishes(yellow radish-like things, arparagus.?, and kimchi. A complimentary basket of popcorn as well but slightly stale. I ordered: * spicy soft tofu stew with seafood($ 11) — soup tasted good but I couldn’t taste the spiciness to it. Like other Korean restaurants, tofu made up half the soup already. They had a couple mussels in the soup which was nice. * Jap Jae($ 11) — aka clear stir fried noodle on the menu. Beef was really good but probably the only good thing about the dish. The noodle was very dry, even a bit hard, to me. Lots of veggies even though I had asked for less. * Bulgogi($ 16) — again, beef seasoning was on point but the meat tasted dry as well. Usually ordering 3 dishes for 2 people is more than enough for me but I wasn’t completely satisfied when we were done :/

New owner and new décor. I’ve only been here once before they changed ownership, but I still don’t think the food is great. I didn’t get try their soju, but I came here and ordered a few dishes with my girlfriends. We had: cheese corn, fried chicken wings, Kimchee fried rice, and tofu stew. Everything was ok but it didn’t wow us. The Kimchee fried rice was a small portion and lacked meat and flavor. The wings were the least popular, didn’t taste authentic and had no flavor. The corn was sweet in the cheese corn but nothing special, but this place is opened late for a late midnight snack.

Friendly staff, delicious food, good soju, reasonable price ! Love this place ! Came in with a party of 6, there is a promotion going on right now, each table can spin the wheel and win something ! We got a free popcorn chicken, very well done, crispy and not a small portion were given . The beef tofu soup were great, it is spicy but it is authentic one you can get ! The spot chicken wing is awesome ! Very delicious with unique sauces . We picked the mango soju, big bottle for $ 13? I am down for it ! The staff is the highlight of this restaurant, everyone is so nice and helpful! I will definitely come back again! Love this place

My friend told me this place just grand open. I just come in and try out. This place ‘s interior is fantastic, as a giants’ fan this place is where you have to go. And food is better than toyose. And the cocktails are unforgettable so good. I promise you couldn’t find anywhere else could make like this place.

$ 13 bottles of soju?! Best price around! Pineapple, guava, melon, mango, lychee. I loved all the flavors, the melon flavor was more of a milky soju by it was still good Ordered japchae & bulgogi, super flavorful & the amount for the price is awesome.

I’m pleasantly surprised! A friend and I decided to catch up in the area and she recommended this spot. After living in LA for a few years, I was skeptical if SF could live up to LA’s Koreaton but The Spot came through. The soju is solid! We got the guava and it was really good. Arguably the best soju that I’ve had in the US. The price is also great. You get an olive oil sized bottle for each kind you order. Each bottle is more than enough for two people. And then that kimchi fried rice everyone talks about? It holds up. Perfect balance between a spicy fried rice and kimchi flavors. The egg was a little too cooked for me but I prefer them runny anyway. The service was a little sparse but we did go at an awkward time. Either way, I would recommend it.

I wish I was still living in the city so I could be a regular here. The waiter/waitresses are super nice and they have a bell for you to ring if you need service. The spot is a nice casual place to bring friends and catch up with because you can drink and sit at a table and order food too if you’re hungry or have the munchies. Soju: I believe I saw somewhere that they use 100% juice(?) I’m not sure, but their soju is pretty good and decently priced. Also, when I come with a big group of people and we order A LOT, they usually give us 1 bottle for free which is a plus. Food: The Spot wings are pretty delicious, crispy, and juicy. I’ve also tried the kimchi fried rice once because a friend ordered it and it was pretty good, but I was pretty drunk already. I’d definitely recomend coming here if bars or clubs isn’t really your thing or if you just want to chill with a couple of friends.

The Spot is one of several Korean soju places(Tonight, Toyose, etc) in the area, but it’s my go-to because it’s only a few blocks from my place. It’s a very casual, lounge-type restaurant/bar. It’s best to come with a group for light appetizers and drinks. The service has always been good, no complaints there. The food is consistently good — personal favorites are the kimchi fried rice and the wings. I usually get a regular soju and a mixed soju drink. Yogurt is my favorite. Overall, The Spot is well. the spot! It’s easy to meet up with people(literally right on Taraval, so you very Muni friendly, just take the L!) and it’s a great place in the Sunset for casual drinks/munchies.

Good for late night eats and soju drinking w friends. Foods ok. Service was odd I really think our server was new. When we asked her what noodles if any came with our hot pot she said«oh I think udon, yea udon» and it arrived with ramen. When we ordered our drink, yogurt aloe(per the menu stated) our server brought out a yogurt and an aloe soju. We asked her isn’t it one drink and she said what? Instead of being difficult we just kept it and forced ourselves to drink it all. Also I don’t understand why these places have the weird lighting but I guess it only bothers me.

Top Picks: Melon Soju, File Fish, Grilled Pork Belly! They never disappoint me when I come here for dinner and it’s not the«ideal» place for dinner but with good company, doesn’t matter to me. My go to dishes are always the file fish(its like jerky but thin slices cause its chewy) and grill pork belly. Other dishes included seafood pancake, kim chi fried rice and their popular«the spot» wings. Ever been to those restaurants that get super busy and they never check up on you, you don’t need to worry about that here, they have the service button on the wall you can press and they come right away.

So far, this is one of my favorite places to get soju in San Francisco because not only did I grow up in this part of San Francisco but it’s conveniently located on Taraval where the L runs and most of my friends live around here. Comparing this place to Tonight, the soju doesn’t come in a fancy overpriced fruit bowl and The Spot has a more cozier dim-lit feeling. Sometimes the music they play here is kinda corny for the atmosphere(thinking it would be EDM most of the time, I heard One Direction and Nick Jonas last night…) but if you’re engaged in your conversations you might not even care. Been here about three times; tried their yogurt, lychee, guava, mango, and strawberry soju(one bottle is $ 12.95; melon is $ 14.95) so far along with some hite and good company. I really like all the soju I’ve had here… also because it’s strong enough to get me pretty drunk off a bottle or so. They give a complimentary basket of popcorn and side dishes if you order a main course. Tried their kimchi fried rice which is pretty good. Usually there isn’t a long wait here even on Fridays and weekend evenings which is pretty cool. Highly recommend for a chill night out with a group of friends who just want to play drinking games or celebrate a birthday!
