My boyfriend and I stopped into Union Larder one afternoon, fresh off a trip to Spain. The atmosphere was quiet and clean. We sat at a metal counter overlooking the street, and were given menus right away. My coworker raves about their homemade bresaola(cured beef in spices), and their BLT(Cowgirl Creamery Red Hawk cheese, slow cooked pork belly, tomato and aioli on Sour Flour Bakery levain toast). They had an ok selection of nonalcoholic beverages. I had a Mexican Coke(no diet available) and he had a sparkling water. Bresaola — huge portion, served with bread and mustard. The bresaola is sliced paper thin and melts in your mouth. Not too salty and just the right amount of flavor where you can still appreciate the taste of the meat. I would have liked for the bread to be toasted, personally, but this is still a 5⁄5. BLT — ooey gooey and super messy. Don’t order this one on a date. I love that so many of the ingredients are from local, recognizable businesses. I think I would have preferred bacon to pork belly, but for what it was, the pork belly was tender and fatty. The sandwich was served with pickled vegetables on the side. This is a great little place to get drinks and a snack before dinner(we went to Stones Throw right after we went here), or you could easily fill up on a full meal here. They have a great selection of salads, cheeses(though the portion size seemed meager, looking at other tables), and charcuterie meats. The fondue seemed popular with others, but my coworker had told me that she found it to be too heavy on the taste of wine.

Good wine selection — really enjoyed a lovely bottle of tempernillo. Solid cheese and charcuterie plate. A little overpriced for what it is though, and the crowd is a little pretentious for my taste.

It was my first time to Union Larder earlier this week and I loved it. They have a decent wine selection, the décor is really neat and the service was good. I didn’t even look at the food menu, but will definitely check it out next time.

I like my this neighbor wine bar basically, so I came here several times already. But honestly I cannot say here’s wines are in the good state of preservation. Actually I had one of pricey wine today, and the taste is not real taste unfortunately… my frige $ 5 wine is even better… Also closing kitchen is too early and I think they should notice customers when they arrive really close to the cloding time. Want more variety on red wine list.

An awesome neighborhood spot! The wine list is impressive and reasonably priced. Service is great, too. We didn’t have room for meat and cheese after our huge lunch, but the selection was tempting for sure. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in SF!

Wine bar with great food selection. Best ambiance! Perfect spot for a glass of wine and bite to eat. The space is a converted old school garage with large arched windows that look onto Hyde St cable cars. The space is romantic, industrial and features the feel of an Italian market/kitchen. Need more spots like this in the neighborhood. Gets full around happy hour — also difficult to sit groups as they only have a couple tables(the rest is bar seating).

Was visiting SF with friends. This place is awesome. A classic wine and cheese bar with an awesome vibe. On the pricey side? Sure. But what in SF isn’t. Very good service, nice presentation and perfect vibes. Will return here next time I’m in the Bay Area and will recommend to other friends.

Fun spot for a little wine after a delicious dinner down the street. My friends and I tasted some wines on tap. I got the red Zinfandel($ 12). The location is great for small groups(ideally 2 as there is mostly bar seating and only a few real tables). Fun fact: It looked like this spot used to be a garage.

BOMB dot com net org and all of the rest that I didn’t mention. I love salami and really appreciated the selection they had. I ordered the Sopressata and the Ghost Pepper for the board while BFF had the Loma(unsure if that’s the correct name but it looks like prosciutto) and Duck Rillette. Beautifully sliced to paper thin pieces and tasty as hell. The Ghost Pepper salami had just the right kick to it so don’t fear the name, peeps. The Uni spread was on the sweeter side and the 2 cheeses were creamy and pliable. Love love LOVED the pickled veggies. Ugh… getting hungry again. Everything came out to $ 68ish. Inexpensive compared to Trou Normand.

I happened to walk by earlier in the day and bookmarked it because I loved the floor to ceiling windows and loft vibe. Came back several hours later and snagged 2 seats in the window. The wine and cheese/meats were pricey but tasty and came in good portions.

Really nice wine bar. The décor was really cool and had a good vibe. The wine I had was the cab Sauvignon Cultivar from napa valley. One word. Delicious. The best I’ve had in a long time. This place is known for their wine selection and doesn’t disappoint. The wait staff seemed knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. Would I come back? Most definitely.

My experience is quite different from other’s because this isn’t a nighttime haunt for me; rather, it’s a daytime treat. From Kristi’s impeccable cheese choices to chef Ramon’s deft hand with all things salty, cured, and bad-for-you-in-a-good-way, the food doesn’t just play second fiddle to their stellar selection of wine(though I admit that I’m more of a beer guy myself). While everyone else files in after 5ish to grab a bite and a sip while they wait for a seat at tough tables nearby like Zarzuela and Elephant Sushi, I’m here on Thursday and Friday for a lunch that’s way more luxe than it has any right to be. If you’re here for just a minute, grab a cheese plate and some paté with your friends and split a bottle before your reservation. But if you’re like me, you’ll do the smart thing and avoid the crowds altogether by coming in for lunch. Much has been said about Ramon’s way with incorporating fantastic cheeses to elevate humble bites like their now infamous Red Hawk BLT, but I personally favor the lighter, though no less thoughtful or well-composed, Chef’s Salad. Unctuous speck and bright tomatoes contrast wonderfully while tangy buttermilk lends richness without feeling heavy. Come at night if you’re willing to brave the masses, but I’ll keep my daytime view of the cable car passing by, thank you very much.

Loving this new neighborhood spot. Well, it’s been open for almost a year but it’s new to me. And it was love at first sight. The place is just oozing with coolness, but sophisticated coolness. I mean a rock star wine bar that also has nutso cheese and meat selection? I get to relive my trips to Europe every time I’m in here. It’s fairly pricey, but I think worth it. They are experts. They know what’s up with the wine and will pair the cheese and meat boards with it for you. The fondue was also to die for. Come here if you like wine, cheese, meat, coolness, Hyde street, and me(because you’ll probably see me there).

Dare I say the grilled cheese rivals that of Hog Island’s? Unfuckingbelievable. I can’t wait to come back for more drinking and face-stuffing episodes.

not sure why, but really one of the best wine bars i’ve been to recently! it’s perfect for an intimate gathering of friends and also for dates! the menu is rather impressive — the burrata is so delicious, and the wines are amazing as well! service is fast and efficient and very friendly, and you can sit or stand in any of the corners of the store. and get cheese to go, along with all kinds of gourmet goods. would be totally down to come back! did i mention –super good looking crowd! a tad on the pricey side — 2 carafes of wine, burrata, olives and one additional glass plus tax + tip was $ 180. MEEPS!

Union Larder used to be a garage, but I am absolutely in love with this place and already want to come back. I am more than impressed. I loved everything about it — the mini cheese shop in the corner that allows you to buy cheese to bring home, the eclectic choices in delicious cheese/salumi combos or various offerings(uni pâté? whoaaaaaaa), and the warehouse-meets-contemporary feel of the ambiance. Union Larder is hip but cozy, unique, and just downright wonderful. While there are no cocktails served here, they sell a plethora of wine or beer. As many have said, wine by the glass range between $ 12-$ 20. We ended up choosing a solid Malbec at $ 12 and it did not disappoint. The dishes here are also just exceptional, especially if you like all-things-cheesy. I had one of the best grilled cheeses ever here. And the Uni Pâté? Don’t even get me started! It was like foie gras meets uni — haven’t had it before. Overall — this is a great spot with a few close friends(3 – 4) or going as a pair. Can’t wait to return!

Union Larder is a really cool, rustic and small space with a great selection of wine, charcuterie and cheeses to go. I dropped by for lunch and over all thought the food was very well made but definitely over priced. We spent around $ 60 for a sausage sandwich, a pâté dish and 2 drinks. That being said, the duck liver mousse with jam was a a good option and they have uni pâté here which I’ve yet to see anywhere else.

Wow was this place popular on a Friday night for happy hour! Four of us had to form a strategic battlefield plan just to occupy some useable real estate to eat and drink. Despite that, the atmosphere is really awesome, lively and has attentive service. We had beer and wine and shared the grilled cheese(asked to add bacon), burrata, and Brussel sprouts. I thought the grilled cheese was good but was not a fan of the jelly they added. The burrata was awesome and the Brussel sprouts were tasty too. Overall this a good spot to grab drinks and a casual bite– maybe not the best place for ‘dinner’. It’s part store and part restaurant but it seems like they could use more room for seating. I’d come back.

This place is so cute. We were waiting for Elephant Sushi and I saw this place right across the street and fell in love with the warehouse windows and great ambiance. I had to find out what it was since it didn’t even have a sign outside. Well, by the door was a menu and I knew I had to go in after seeing that this was a cheese and charcuterie place! We ordered a quail egg over mixt greens on bread, and the uni pâté. Both were tasty and went well with our Wander, Saint Yves wine. This is a great date spot, and I really wish I lived closer or else I would take all my friends here. What a great addition to this neighborhood!

I’m allergic to Nob Hill and Russian Hill. The possibility of running into the ex is real. I’ve always dreamed of what I would do if I ran into him. Punching him in the face would feel SO awesome. *Evil Laugh* Eating mustard sandwiches in shackles? Hmmm, not so much. The struggle is real, I tell you. So what brought me to Russian Hill last week? Meat. Cheese. Wine. Soft opening last week, Union Larder is part wine bar, part specialty grocery shop, and part sammie shop. It reminded me a lot of Salumeria in the Mission sans the hipsters. Coming early to snag seats is highly recommended as Union Larder is small and it was packed by 6:30 pm(they opened at 6 pm last week). Seating is mainly counter seats. On the menu are small bites, oysters, salads, sammies, charcuterie, and cheeses. Page 1: Page 2: Wines by the glass are $ 9-$ 19: . Average price: $ 14/glass. We started with a charcuterie plate and asked they choose the meats for us(3 meats — $ 22): . Although the charcuterie was beautifully presented, it’s really hard to beat Chris Cosentino’s charcuterie at Boccalone. The prosciutto was the best of the trio; salty and rich. The country pâté was ok, more like a meatloaf than a creamy pâté. I believe the third one was the bresaola which was very salty. If you’re an uni fan, you must try the Uni Pâté($ 16): . Our favorite of the night, the uni pâté was like creamy butter of the sea. Couldn’t get enough of this. Skip the Redhawk BLT($ 14): . How can you go wrong with cowgirl creamery, acme bread, and bacon? Well, taking a bite into the BLT, I squirted… well, more like the cooked lettuce and tomato squirted. Also, the bacon was not crispy at all. Really disappointing. My gf ordered the $ 10 grilled cheese sammie and didn’t enjoy her sammie either. I washed everything down with a glass of the Les Vouleurs Chardonnay, Sonoma($ 15). It was excellent with lovely melon notes BUT the markup was high. The year wasn’t indicated on the menu but a 2012 bottle retails for $ 24: . Service was ok, not very friendly. The staff was spread thin. There was only two wait staff so we had to flag them down if we needed something. The charcuterie was delivered without any explanation on what was what(we add to ask). Since it was their soft opening, service has no bearing on my rating. I found it odd that no one asked for feedback. The space was cramped and VERY loud(not recommended for a date). Crowd was Marina-ish. These guys who were standing next to us kept backing their ass into my gf and not apologizing. Real classy, douchebags. Just like Kelly H., we also kept getting elbowed by people passing through. There are no nearby lots so parking is impossible. I ended my night with a fernet neat at a dive bar across town and realized yah, I’m a dive girl at heart. *burps*
