In the Marina it’s hard to find authentic food, especially Japanese. Yuzu breaks the mold with quality sushi and innovative rolls. I highly recommend the Tokyo Mango and Geisha rolls. For sashimi, the king salmon reigns supreme. This restaurant also has hitachino ale for prices that are significantly cheaper than what you could get at other sites in the hood. Service is also top notch. If you have Ainslee she offers great recommendations for sake. If you are unsure what to get at the sushi bar, make sure you let chefs Ken and Young know. They can definitely help out

Love this place. Amazing sushi and none of the typical Marina crowd. The happy hour menu is killer, kanpachi jalapeño and a Sansho Ale(the best beer). They have high-quality fish, and their Sushi Chefs do a phenomenal job — Young San is one of the best guys around! The front of house staff has always done a great job of making my company and me feel welcome, Fred and John have always been friendly and greet me with a warm welcome. I’d love to see the restaurant expand to a neighborhood close to where I live, maybe the Mission, or Divisadero?! ;)

Sat here for almost an hour waiting for food. No one ever came by to provide any updates on when the food is coming or anything. Food is okay but seriously they need to get their Sh*t together. That is all.

I’m not a sushi person, so this review will not be about the sushi. I’m going to focus on the teriyaki chicken that I ordered and the service that my group received. **TL;DR: Service was a little unprofessional, and we had to wait a while for our food, and not all of the food came out at the same time** Lets start with the service. Out of the group of people that I went with, about 75% of them are gluten free. One of the gluten free people at our table asked for Tamari because they couldn’t have soy sauce because of the gluten content. A man brought out tamari, and then our main waitress came out and asked if we needed tamari. We then said that we had tamari already, and that it was in this specific bottle on the table, then she said ’ oh, that’s not what we put tamari in usually’, so that might actually be soy sauce, and with 75% of the people at the table having already used what they thought was tamari, they kinda freaked out. She then brought out what she was sure was tamari and we continued eating. Was just kind of an unprofessional experience, but I can only assume that this was a rare situation that probably doesn’t happen to them very often. There was a long wait for the food. Also, not all of the items came at the same time. Two of the dishes arrived(both teriyaki chicken). And by the time that the food came for the other people at the table, the people who ordered the teriyaki chicken were taking their last bites. Teriyaki chicken was good. But it wasn’t what I was expecting. It was two bone-in, skin-on fried chicken breasts, with a side of teriyaki sauce, sitting next to yam mash/purée and bok choy. I ordered a side of brown rice and it was a very good mean. Just not what I was expecting.

My sister and I went here on a Friday. Our service was amazing; very sweet hostess and waitress. They gave us drink suggestions: HIGHLY recommend the cucumber limeade. The green bean tempura fries were delicious; we also had a buttered scallop appetizer and a Kobe beef appetizer that were amazing. We will definitely be going back for the Threesome roll and the Spicy Tuna Tempura roll. Everything was delicious and the people were so friendly. Highly recommend for dinner and drinks. Great for date nights or dinner with friends.

Great food, people and the bar has a tv at the right place. Good place to go. I can tell the staff cares based on their service.

Really nice atmosphere and authentic sushi chefs. Tried four(spicy tuna, scallops, kobe beef, cali roll) different kinds of sushi plates here. Ordered a few off the weekend special menu and the standard. Everything was rather flavorless and had to be drowned in soy sauce. Staff was fine.

Great Happy Hour! My friend and I were here for Happy Hour and did a mix of HH items and regular-priced items. We ordered 7 things and paid about $ 24 — great price/quality, especially hard to find in this neighborhood. Loved the mushroom trio from the apps!!! HH drink menu is short but gets the job done.

Definitely my go-to sushi spot in the Marina when it comes to getting back for the buck. They have a basic happy hour menu that is worth checking out(can’t be too picky with prices that low) and the rolls are all really good. The salmon belly sushi is amazing. I only knocked off one star because the service can be hit or miss, I think they might be a bit understaffed. But my boyfriend and I are always full and happy when we leave and have never spent more than $ 60-$ 70 including tip. Check it out!

My husband and I love Japanese food and we were looking forward to trying out this restaurant, but we ended up being very disappointed. (1) We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time, and stood for awhile waiting to be greeted. The hostess seemed annoyed and took an unreasonably long time to look up our reservation and seat us. (2) The restaurant is basically a small sports bar that serves sushi, which would have been fine with us if the service, food, and overall dining experience had been good, but they were not. (3) We were seated in a cramped corner booth that did not have good back support. We were left alone for a long time before we were brought water. Several minutes later our server showed up. She seemed frazzled, although the restaurant was only about half full. We ordered drinks, and waited several minutes for her to return with them. Meanwhile, my husband’s back was bothering him and we politely asked if we might move to a table for two with a chair that would support his back. Our server got annoyed and argumentative, which was very perplexing given that we asked nicely and there were empty tables with chairs available. A few minutes later, she returned and gave us permission to move to another table. (4) After being reseated, we waited several minutes more for her to return to take our order. She warned us that our sushi would take awhile – she wasn’t kidding. Thankfully, we ordered some miso soup because after a very long wait it was the only food that arrived at our table. The miso soup was lukewarm and flavorless. We waited a long time before we finally got one of the sushi rolls we ordered. It was decent, but below the quality you might get at a cheaper sushi joint, and certainly not worth the wait. Our other rolls came out very slowly, one had some sort of very unpleasant seasoning and was not good at all and the other was mediocre. (5) The entire time we were in the restaurant some obnoxious patrons at one of the nearby tables proceeded to get very drunk and harass their server, the food runner, and the other patrons in the restaurant, including yelling threats and obscenities at the individuals seated a few tables away. Neither the staff nor the management did anything to make these obnoxious drunks settle down or leave the restaurant. When the drunks started pounding on the table and shouting, I told my husband to flag our server to get the check so we could leave. We waited a long time for our server to bring the check, and then we waited an equally long time for her to process our credit card and return. (6) We will never go back: Miserable service, miserable atmosphere, bad to mediocre food, and somewhat high prices.

There are few things better than the spicy tuna roll at Yuzu. That being said, the service here is sub par. I’ve been twice now(that spicy tuna roll though) and waited at least 30 minutes to have my order taken. The Fusion roll is also delicious. 4 stars.

I really, really, really like Yuzu. It may not be the best sushi in San Francisco, but it is darned GOOD, fresh, and has a little something for everyone. I find service always friendly(bar, servers and sushi chefs) and most of all, their happy hour is one of the best hidden gems in the Marina. Go sit at either bar and give it a try if you haven’t. No one will find you, it’s one of those places.

I am a very picky eater and new to sushi. My boyfriend and I don’t even traditionally eat fish! But Yuzu is one of our favorite places to eat in San Francisco. He loves the Tokyo mango roll, and the California role. Very«white people» options but the presentation is beautiful, the fish is fresh, and the different sauces they have make it amazing. As a vegetarian, they’re very accommodating to me. I get the black rice role which is tempura vegetables, wrapped with black rice and seaweed and it’s unbelievable. The happy hour is extremely reasonably priced as well, so it’s a great spot to go after work on a Friday night. The first time we ever went to Yuzu, we both got 2 rolls, and 2 alcoholic beverages, and the bill totaled $ 35.00. Can’t beat that in SF!

We came here on a Friday night with a reservation, and the place was not that crowded. The atmosphere here is pretty nice, casual and slightly artsy, with a Japanese movie projected on the wall and light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. There is no air conditioning or fans though, which was definitely noticeable in the over 80 °F heat. The experience started off encouraging — we ordered some edamame and it came right away. Then 30 or so minutes passed before we saw any more food. The waits for sushi were ridiculous. It seems the kitchen was way overbooked when the restaurant wasn’t even fully occupied. We spent over an hour and a half here after ordering immediately upon arriving. As for the food, pretty good. The fish was fresh, and they had some creative rolls. Our waiter was also pretty nice — frequently encouraging us to maintain hope, our food would be out soon. He gave us a discount at the end to apologize for the waiting. I’m giving Yuzu 2 stars since they can’t handle the load from a partially full restaurant. I will note: if the waiting times for food had been normal, this would have been a 4 star review instead.

I’ve only been here for happy hour so can’t say anything about their normal menu, but the happy hour is a true gem. They have quite a large selection of appetizers, hand rolls and basic cut rolls for $ 2, $ 3, $ 4 each. My friend and I chanced upon the place when we were walking to the bus station right around the corner and we left happy and full, in the tummy and wallet. We shared the mushroom tempura, miso glazed eggplants, spicy scallop hand roll, shrimp tempura hand roll, spicy tuna cut roll and salmon and avocado roll. The glazed eggplant was exceptional, with tender eggplant drizzled with a sweet miso sauce. The rolls were pretty basic, but really hit the spot. Will definitely come back for more happy hour soon!

This will be the bar for which all others must attain. There maybe better, may be many others who are better, but me… this is the best I have had. The whole experience was pitch perfect. The low key exterior, crisp clean interior, excellent selection of sake with a dutiful bartender to guide in selection. And then the plates. Art. Edible fabulous Art. Enjoyed every single aspect on its own merit. That it was literally across the street from where we were stay — get out of town! Too fun.

This review is just for their happy hour! Decent prices, good balance of drinks and food! Service was quick! They were rather slow when we went, so I can’t speak to dinner. However, for happy hour, this isn’t a bad place! Everything was good.

Came here with an old friend for dinner on Saturday night. I recommend making a reservation! Be prepared to drop some $$ if you want drinks and dessert. Food: + Emerald City — a refreshing cucumber melony cocktail that was small but refreshing + Awa something cocktail– looked like pink champagne; friend loved it + Akamiso Soup– a good hearty miso soup with tons of mushroom and tofu(recommend this!) + Mushroom Trio– a Yuzu Signature dish; it was pretty acidic tasting but not bad +Fusion Roll– our favorite roll; you MUST order this! shrimp tempura and avocado + Orange Blossom– shrimpy tempura with salmon on top; not bad but the Fusion is a better option + Black Rice Veggie Roll– tempura’ed vegetable roll. pretty tasty! recommend! + Bento Box Dessert: came with a scoop of Fiorello’s Gelato(yum), 2 pieces of Mochi Ice Cream(yum yum), Yuzu Cake(kind of hard and not that great) and Crème Brulee(deelish) +Mochi Sampler– Chocolate Espresso, Guava, and Tiramisu. one piece of each. = heaven Service: We were promptly seated with our reservation but because it was busy, we only interacted with our waiter twice through the whole meal. Our server was sweet and made some recs that we took. Ambience: Classy sushi place tucked away in the Marina. You can seat at the bar, a high table or low table. Can’t wait to come back here! –Hungry Hungry Pongy
