My girlfriends and I were visiting San Fran last month and this was BYFAR our favourite dinner of the trip! It was hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had, especially the Dragon Roll and Hot Mama Special Roll. The service was impeccable, and the manager kept checking up on us to make sure everything was tasting delicious. I would fly back to Cali just to go here again.

Love this place! Management is top notch. According to Unilocal,my review is too short thus I’m adding this needless verbiage to ensure that Naked Fish gets the review they deserve. 29 stars!

Naked Fish is a decent sushi restaurant with a bar in the front, and opens into a larger dining area towards the back. The menu items are hit or miss, but the happy hour specials are great. Poke Tuna — marinated tuna w/spicy Hawaiian poke sauce: Good! tasty & spicy cubes of dressed tuna, adorned with seaweed salad and cucumber slices, & topped with sesame seeds Ahi Tartare — tuna, avocado, tofu with wonton strips: Meh! The tuna was okay, but the flavors of tofu and tuna didn’t go very well together, in my opinion. Chicken Yakitori: Good! simple cubes of dark chicken meat, topped with teriyaki sauce Calamari: Okay! pretty good octopus with not too heavy batter, served w/sweet chili sauce Maguro Nigiri: Meh, not the most fresh, or vibrant in color I’ve tried some of the rolls. To me, sushi rolls tend to taste the same, since a lot of them have the same ingredients — avocado, tempura, sesame seeds, scallions, etc. Autumn Delight Roll — Tuna, albacore, avocado, lightly tempura seared and served with lemon ponzu: Pretty Good! The fried tempura cooks up the tuna inside quite a bit. I wouldn’t mind if the tuna were a little more rare. Firecracker Ball — deep-fried tuna roll w/house special sauce, scallions, sesame seeds: Okay! & quite spicy Hot Mama Special Roll — Snow crab roll wrapped with salmon, baked with sweet and spicy dressing: Not bad, but the rice tasted especially cold, like the roll had been sitting in the fridge for a while. If I were in the area, I would stop by during happy hour for some tuna poke and nigiri.

Our go to sushi!!! Always delicious and fresh! I wish they had a bit more of a variety of rolls, or changed up some of their selection. But otherwise a good neighborhood spot and very friendly service!

Expensive. Quality is not good. Doesn’t taste good. Ambiance is not good. Definitely won’t be back! Please work on the quality if you’re going to charge those prices!!!

Great sushi spot and the wine is reasonably priced – went with a friend and we split a bottle. We also split 4 – 5 rolls, and food & drink total was under $ 30 per person. There are a lot of unique rolls here and I’d say it’s a good place to step outside your comfort zone and order something a little different. I’ll be back to try the appetizers also, as I’ve heard they are great but was really just in the mood for sushi during my last visit.

Came here for happy hour. Great specials. Everything was so cheap and the portions were on point. I loved the agedashi tofu. The service could be a little more on point. The restaurant is funky looking. The bar is in the front and the dining room is in he back. Good place though. I would recommend it

The hype is so real. Naked Fish is one of those places that stays consistent. I’ve yet to be disappointed by the food/service. I know there are a lot of competitors out there, but so far I like Naked Fish the best. First of all, it is very innovative. The décor modern and vibrant. It’s cozy and I feel at home when I’m here. As for the fish, it is ALWAYS fresh and pretty much perfect. I’ve had some of the best california rolls here. LITERALLYMELTSINYOURMOUTH. Actually I love everything here. It is worth every single penny.

If you happen to be on Chestnut Street in San Francisco especially between the hours of 4:30pm and 6pm, this place is a must do. Their happy hour is unbeatable for sushi in the city and service very attentive. The quality of the fish is delightfully fresh and the ambiance pretty mellow. Their oysters on the half shell are from WA and being an oyster fanatic, I can say that these are awesome, albeit on occasion a tad smaller than I prefer. Sometimes, size does matter ;) The rolls are fabulous, every one of them, order to taste. My particular favorite is the Sub 1000: «Fuji apple, cucumber & jalapeño roll topped with buttery escolar(Walu) served with cilantro — jalapeño vinaigrette.» They forget to mention the beads of Tobiko which add to more than just aesthetics. Throw on a touch of wasabi and this is nothing short of sushi heaven. Lipstick lady drops 4 kisses XXXX: b

We ordered the uni after spirit tasting at Fort Mason. Even after all that alcohol and having our taste buds killed I could taste the metallic flavor of their uni. Horrible, not coming here again.

Great happy hour. Sushi is decent but hey $ 3 dollar big bottles of Sapporo beer makes everything just so so much better. The interior is pretty drool but you’re not there for the Picasso on the wall. You’re there for cheap sushi. It’s a regular haunt for me.

I read a lot of bad reviews before heading in here so I braced myself for poor service and some possible bad menu options believing that the low priced happy hour specials would prove worth it. Naked Fish is so bad. I have no idea how they are still in business. Contrary to many other reviews, the service was good. The food was disgusting. The chicken kaarage was inedible in every sense of the word. It was gross tough chicken parts deep fried. It say boneless meat and in hindsight, I think they would’ve said breast/thigh/wing meat at the least. The salmon tartare with wonton chips was so oddly greasy and you just fill with regret as you’re chewing it. In no way whatsoever can I recommend the firecracker balls. I was excited to see them come out — they looked good! The inside was revolting. Chewy flavorless gunk was inside of these fried mystery balls. The only ‘eh’ part of the meal were 2 rolls — spicy salmon and spicy tuna. Both were rolled a bit loose but otherwise tasted moderately accurate. They weren’t worth the $ 4 happy hour price if that tells you anything. Overall, I regret not trusting the Unilocal world and can only hope I don’t sick from the awful excuse for food I just ate(no I didn’t finish a single dish for obvious reasons).

How do you get rid of bad food from your system? Erase it from your memory? Ban it from your psyche never to be seen, heard or even thought of again?! I flushed it down the toilet. You’ve been warned.

Was in the neighborhood and needed a cheap bite. We made it to their happy hour and the deals are totally worth it! Lots of apps for $ 5, $ 1 oysters, and large beers for $ 4! The boyfriend and I got some oysters, two rolls, some nigiri and a beer, which all came out quickly with great service. Everything was fresh and the oysters were super fresh. My only minor complaint was that the rolls are a bit small for $ 8. They have one small TV in the front of the restaurant with bar seating, so that filled up pretty quickly since it was Game 6 of the NBA finals. More seating in the back, but I don’t think they had another TV.

This is a cute little sushi spot right on Chestnut in the Marina that my friend took us to. I loved that it was really easy to get a table here. Frequently that is a challenge in the Marina. They had cute little intimate tables so it was a great place to catch up. The sushi was good. We enjoyed our rolls and the edamame. That being said, I haven’t been inspired to go back. There are so many good sushi places around that this one just couldn’t tear me away from.

Naked Fish is still my favorite for a long lunch break while in the Marina. Even with a little slip up — was served teriyaki beef instead of chicken; no problem they took it back and fixed it — I’m still impressed with the quality of the food and great price of $ 7.95 for a lunch bento box. This time for my choice of two items I had the aforementioned chicken teriyaki and the 4 piece California roll. The chicken is still really tasty, with that nice grilled char on the outside, and the California roll was a nice size and full of tasty crab and avocado. I overheard one girl order her bento with double salad, no rice and I think I’ll do that next time! The portion size really is not skimpy in the slightest. You WILL leave full!

I went here for happy hour with my roommate before we went off to our respective events(for me it was a Unilocal Elite event, and for her a work-related event at a bar nearby). The happy hour menu is an extensive one compared to other menus I’ve seen at sushi restaurants. And the prices were really good too. I ordered the crunchy cannon roll, which was $ 6(normally $ 8). It was really delicious! It was fried to perfection, and the honey mustard and unagi glaze gave it sweetness. I can predict that some people might find this signature roll too sweet, but I enjoyed it. What I also like was that they didn’t skimp on the portion. I got about 10 pieces, which didn’t make me full, especially since I also ordered ahi poke. Which, btw, was also very good. It came with wontons, and added a salty flavor to this acidic dish. The atmosphere is dark, and it can get loud inside. The wait staff are really friendly and are happy to answer any questions you have. I would definitely come back here and take advantage of their happy hour menu. You get the best of what they offer at a good price, especially for the Marina.

Cute place. But, it’s not the best sushi ever in all the Bay Area kind of deal. My cousins and I thought the portions were small. ***Oysters were super good, that I recommend. Some small, some bigger than others, but it was a pretty good size for each. I don’t recommend the soft shelled crab(just cause I’m not into that, but maybe the rest of my table would disagree with me). We had happy hour sushi. So I couldn’t find some on the menu but one interesting one was Mango Tango(no seaweed), the wrapper was cucumber, and there was mango purée on the plate. It wasn’t great, but it was interesting. This was the place were I had my first hot sake experience, so it’ll always be memorable.

I came here with some friends for a Sunday night dinner. For a Sunday night this place was quite busy. We got seated in the back room that has an interesting sunroof and a small backyard in the back. There were 2 – 3 other large parties and the room was quite loud. It was a bit hard to hear everyone and I was(jokingly but not really) saying to my friends that I was going to deduct 1 star in my Unilocal review for acoustics. If you come here for a quiet date night, you’re going to have a bad time. I always feel a bit strange reviewing restaurants that focus mostly on sushi since I actually don’t eat sushi. I always get entrees at these places. This time, I tried their duck in a miso vinagrette sauce. The duck was actually cooked pretty well and the meat was on top of a bed of lettuce. My only gripe is that by default there is no rice — dude, I’m super Asian, and if I’m ordering a meat dish, there should be rice with it. The edamame on the table was actually salted well. I’ve had my fair share of bland edamame so I’m always glad when I stumble upon salted edamame. I like salt, so what. I did try a fried scallop(I think this was the fire cracker ball sushi dish). The others at the table liked this dish a lot and one of my friend who is a regular claimed this was one of his favorite dishes. My opinion was oh god this is gross but remember I don’t like sushi, so let’s just go with my friends’ opinions. The fried green tea ice cream was okay. The batter tasted like tempura but the dish was mostly cold ice cream. I would probably NOT go out of my way to go here since their menu is so focused on sushi but if you have sushi lovers, this might be a good place to take them.

Decent for happy hour — $ 3 beers, $ 4 wines and $ 5 appetizers. The sushi, however, is nothing special. It’s not particularly fresh, not particularly flavorful and not particular melt-in-your-mouth-y. I would definitely not come here for a sushi dinner(too many great sushi establishments in the city to do such injustice to my belly). However, I would continue to come here for happy hour as it’s close to a lot of my friends and their happy hour specials are definitely enticing. I recommend ordering the firecracker balls and the sake mojitos. However, if you’re feeling a little risqué, the sake bombs serve as a great opener for Friday nights. Enjoy!
