My coworker brought some sandwiches from here yesterday! I was pleasantly surprised because I haven’t had the pleasure of eating banh mi for the longest time. I tried the grilled pork and it was so fresh and delicious. My tastebuds were hit with the umami flavor from the pork, slight sourness of the pickled veggies, refreshing mint, and of course, the tasty bread that housed all of these ingredients. This is my ideal sandwich. I also got to try the iced coffee from here and it was possibly the best/worst thing to drink during work. I literally went from 0 to 100 in terms of my alertness. It was sooo strong for lil’ ol’ me and I fell asleep at 3:30AM after drinking it around 12PM. Now, I don’t have to dream of the perfect banh mi anymore. Saigon’s Sandwiches turned my dreams into reality.

ok this place is pretty good. My uncle would usually come here and get me a baguette but by the time it gets to me, it’s all soggy and whatevers. But, I can here for the first time with my friend and we ate there. I got #2(grilled pork) and it was bomb. Although the baguette is huge, you can just crunch it down and the texture and flavor of the meat is pretty tasty. Sandwiches and eggrolls are buy two get one free! That’s always a plus! The Che(Vietnamese dessert) is pretty pricey at $ 3 for half a cup filled with ice. Other than that, price is good and I would definitely be back.

In San Gabriel everyone has their favorite Vietnamese bakery even in my family. This one is for me. My usual order is #15 with the vegetables inside, my husband #18, my mom chicken(forgot the number, she used to get #14 which had sold out quite a few times by 11). Iced coffee, baguettes, and egg rolls.

Tried out this place the other day. The food and drinks is pretty decent. Their banh mi sandwiches taste not bad, it costs a little more than other places like Lee’s, but it’s also just slightly bigger. The sandwiches can use more filling though. The staff seems pretty friendly too. Only two stars because we ordered two sandwiches and two drinks and couple other ready-made side items. We paid and got a number for our order. We sat there waited and waited for our food for close to 20 minutes, 10 or more numbers after us already got their order and left. At that time I didn’t even get all of my drink that I’ve ordered. So finally I went up the the counter to check up on our order, it turns out our order was never put into the kitchen. We were sitting there waiting in front of them the entire time, the staff could have been aware something is wrong a lot earlier.

I love love love the Saigon special on baguette bread. It could use a tad bit more pâté to up the funk but it is so yummy the way it is. They are generous with their vegetables especially the jalapeño and cilantro which I appreciate. The French baguette bread definitely makes it better since it is baked in house and fresh, you don’t have to worry about having your mouth cut up. I don’t know if I love this place or bahn mi my tho more, it’s a pretty close call!

Love love love the french bread here. I always get the saigon special with the french bread. It’s $ 3.50 for one, which is a very decent price for vietnamese sandwiches. I’ve had their basil drink and springs rolls as well, both are also good. The only bad thing about this place, which I probably should’ve taken more than one star off for, is the cleanliness. I don’t think they mop the floors daily but for sure they don’t clean the place because the place is a bit filthy. They also don’t cover their mouths when they sneeze and their breads are usually sitting uncovered, so that’s a bit gross… but still the best bread and vietnamese sandwich in town.

This banh mi shop is one of my top 3 choices in the SGV. I enjoy Banh Mi My Tho, Bale and here. Always a delicious, quick and cheap eat. You can get buy 2 get 1 banh mi sandwiches for the round buns, but I prefer getting the banh mi baguette sandwiches which are the same price, $ 3.50 but not buy one get 1 free. I usually get a grilled pork, chicken or beef and always add a fried egg for a dollar more. The baguettes are always so fresh, crispy and crunch exterior and soft and fluffy on the inside, you get your meat and the pickled daikon, carrots and sliced serrano chili peppers and that rich, cool pâté the spread on the baguette. Everything combined just gives it such an amazing mouthfeel and contrast and is so delicious. The egg rolls are 3 for $ 1.99 and banh bao(steamed white buns filled with juicy ground pork, hard boil eggs, wood ear fungus and a piece of Chinese sausage) are buy 2 for $ 4.00 and get one free. Anytime I’m in the SGV and I feel that I want banh mi, and I’m in San Gabriel or Rosemead, this is my go to!

I ate here once and thought that the taste was good, but I did have some critiques. However, the sandwiches and coffee were inexpensive at buy 2 get 1 free round short bahn mi AND iced coffees! I would come here more often if i lived in the area. The shop is small, so it’s better to order to-go which most customers do. Otherwise, there are only like 3 tables that seat 2 people in the shop. Parking is free, but the lot is also small. The only sandwiches I ordered were made with the short, round baguettes. The bread was fresh with a thin, crispy shell and soft interior that stayed soft even after 2 days in the fridge! However, the amount of filling was too little versus the ratio of thick bread per bite. In the store, the glass display showed off lots of tantalizing jelly and pudding desserts that i was tempted to buy. DRINKSORDERED — Iced milk coffee($ 2.25). Very strong flavor and tasty. I think it was little to no sugar added, so it did have some bitter coffee flavor. It’s perfect for those with an «Asian» palate for sweets. — Iced milk coffee with cream($ 2.75). The coffee tasted the same as the iced milk coffee, but it was sweeter. The sweetness suited my tastes better; I enjoyed this one better. It was delicious. SNACKSORDERED — Egg rolls($ 1.65 for 3 pieces). I don’t remember too much about the flavor profile, but my general impression was they they tasted standard, but good, and not overtly gingery or anything. Although they didn’t blow my socks off, they were cheap and yummy. SANDWICHESORDERED — #18 Grill beef sausage. The fragrantly spiced circular sausage patties tasted unique; I would order this again. I could see this being an acquired taste for some people, similar to how some people don’t like the taste of chai tea or lavender. — #20 Chicken. Not my favorite! The chicken was shredded and dry, and had an almost seafood-like taste. — #21 Truong(egg). The sandwich was like a breakfast banh mi with scrambled egg. The egg was tender, but a little on the wet side(which I don’t prefer). I thought the taste was very mild and good. It hit the spot, since I was actually there catching up with a friend during brunch time.

Just for the simple baguette, this is a 5 star place for me. Recently Coatco baguette I found it pretty good but the ones here are much better. Even after days and days, the baguettes don’t get hard or rubbery. Outside is very crispy and inside is very soft, yet the baguette remained very light. I picked a couple of plain baguettes when they were closing, so the bread had probably been sitting out there all day, but it was still good!!! I don’t know about other stuff one the menu, but as far as plain baguettes, I wish this place is closer to where I live so that I can check in every morning!

Vietnamese Sandwiches! Nice+yummy Sandwiches with only $ 3.50 Buy 2 get 1 free, pretty good deal :) They also sell Vietnamese desserts I ordered number 18&22, didn’t have to wait for long. Good service too Love the sandwiches from here. Crispy the outside and soft the inside. Lots of fillings too. Cheap, quick, and easy. If you are seeking some banh mi sandwiches and you like them cheap, quick, and easy, Saigon’s Bakery and Sandwiches is the way to go. On the same corner as San Gabriel Superstore, they have a small lot, so we parked in the SG Superstore parking lot and walked over. Not a lot of seating inside, so either take it to go or come in a group no larger than 4 people. I ordered their Saigon special banh mi and it took care of my banh mi craving. The baguette was soft yet crisp and slightly leaves a crumbly mess on your pants. A cash only spot.

Fresh baguettes! I walked in and was in baguette heaven since it smelled so good. Banh Mi galore as well. Everything is made fresh here. Other than Banh Mi… they have some steam pork buns, fresh spring rolls, egg rolls and the very rich and strong ice coffee! Don’t miss the location as well. Thanks to some of the other Unilocalers who posted pictures of the front building with the dentist sign. The location is NOT in the SG market shopping plaza but right on the corner of that lot. FYI…the Vietnamese coffee is very strong…

This is a good place for Banh Mi. They are cheap and pretty good. They have a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal on the sandwiches with the fatter bread. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend getting would be their drinks. Yes, it’s only 2 dollars for one drink, or buy 2 get one free, but they put so much ice in it that I finished my drink in 2 gulps. It was so hard to even stuff my straw in because it had so much ice. Not worth it in this case. Other than that, good place to drop by quickly for some cheap food.

I like this place. I feel like Ba Le Banh Mi got really small and I don’t taste any Vietnamese flavor. This place has pretty decent size Banh Mis and it taste great as well. They advertise buy 2 get 1 free but that only applies to those small bread size Banh Mis not long baguettes.

I usually go to the saigon on Garvey, but since this place was closer to the bank and the park I decided to get my sandwiches here. I decided to pick up some sandwiches cause I was going to go watch my god-son at his summer sport camp at the park. I thought it would be nice and simple. No mess no clean up. I arrived and found parking in their parking lot. I was the only one in the store when I arrived. I ordered and realize not all sandwiches were buy two get one free. I guess if you buy the round sandwiches than you get the deal, however, if you ordered the long sandwiches you have to buy six sandwiches to get one free. Seriously, six sandwiches. I ended up buying six long sandwiches. Lucky, we had exactly six people eating, so I was able to score the free sandwich. The sandwich, of course, went straight into the hubby’s tummy. I decided to go with the saigon special. The special had meatloaf and bbq pork. I went with the veggies on the side. I thought it was okay. The bread was not bad. The taste of the sandwich was okay too, but somehow I felt like something was missing. Remember, this place is cash only, so get your dollar bills ready.

I LOVE the egg rolls! Parking here really sucks. Service is order, pay, and get the hell out, typical 626. Egg Rolls — 3 for $ 1.45 — We usually order party platters of this but that’s the price if you order in the restaurant. Super simple egg roll but it tastes so good. The ground meat filling is seasoned perfectly and the amount in each is just right. The egg roll is fried crispy and flaky. My favorite place to get egg rolls. Thit Nuong — $ 3 — Pork has good seasoning but I have had better banh mi’s all over 626.

I don’t eat much banh mi sandwiches but this place is making me become more of a regular. The thing that makes this place better than other banh mi places is the bread. I’m not sure if this place makes its own bread but it sure tastes like it’s baked fresh everyday. Whenever I eat a banh mi sandwich I feel like I’m going to dislocate by jaw because the bread is so dense and chewy. The bread here is slightly crispy and flaky on the outside but soft on the inside. Even when I eat the leftover the following day, the bread is still soft. The menu looks quite extensive at first glance but it can be broken down to about half the size because most of the sandwiches are the same except the first 12 items on the menu are on smaller, oval shaped bread and the rest are on long, baguette bread. The price is the same for both size but it sure seems like you’re getting much more with the baguette bread. The only advantage of getting the ones on smaller bread is you get one free when you buy two. It’s good if you want more variety but size-wise I think you are still getting a better deal with the baguette. So far I have tried #16 Thit Nuong(grill pork), #18 Nem Bo(grill beef sausage) and #21 Trung(egg). The egg sandwich didn’t sound exciting but I couldn’t believe how good it tasted. There’s really nothing special about the sandwich. It just has the usual pickled vegetables and mayo with egg, but I never had this combination before so it was a new experience. The bread seemed softer for this sandwich as well. This makes a great breakfast sandwich. The grill beef sausage and grill pork sandwiches were also just as good but I prefer the beef sausage a little more than the pork. The beef has a hamburger like texture with a nice balance of salty and sweet flavor. The beef wasn’t too greasy either, and balanced out well with the pickled vegetables. I also tried one of the non-sandwich items — mini chicken pâté chaud. You get one free if you buy two. It’s only $ 0.75 so I got three for just $ 1.50. It makes a great snack and quite filling despite its small size. It’s quite rich and greasy, but all so tasty. It’s like a miniature pie in a sandwich form. Outside dough is crispy and flaky like a pie and the middle part is filled with minced chicken that is flavored with some type of herb mixture. This is also the cleanest banh mi place I’ve been to. Décor is modern and minimalistic. There is a small shared parking lot right next to the business but is usually packed. I just park on the northeast side of SG Super market parking lot if I can’t find parking here.

I came here the other day to pick up sandwiches and a couple of baguettes. There’s a deal when you buy 2 round Banh mis, you get 1 free. I don’t know what it is with the round sandwiches, but I prefer the long baguettes! The prices are very affordable and the bread is really good. Ordered: — Banh mi dac biet. $ 3.00 each(on a long baguette) This sandwich was really good. I like the freshly baked crispy baguette that it comes on. I will not eat a round sandwich, I like these baguettes! haha. Anyway, this comes with pâté, mayonnaise, a variety of meats and vegetables. Filling sandwich for only $ 3.00! — Plain Baguette. $ 1.10 each Good baguette, it is only $ 1.10 each, what’s there to complain about? Overall, decent service, yummy bread, yummy sandwiches! Great prices!

In terms of best bang for your buck, I’ll put Saigon’s Sandwich & Bakery between Lee’s Sandwiches(2.5÷5) and Banh Mi Che Cali(3.5÷5). Instead of buy two($ 2.75 each sandwich) get one free sandwich at Banh Mi Che Cali, here is buy two($ 2.75 each sandwich) get one BAGUETTE free. However, Saigon’s Sandwich & Bakery has a slightly bigger banh mi than Banh Mi Che Cali’s. 20 — Chicken banh mi(vietnamese sandwich, $ 2.75): Good bread, but not enough fillings. Quality was average at best. 16 — BBQ pork banh mi(vietnamese sandwich, $ 2.75): Slightly better than chicken, but both chicken and BBQ pork banh mi only had one slice of jalapeño. This place is a good example of average banh mi restaurant. P. S. — Cash only.
