i know bay buffet is closed but i never got to say good bye. my cousin and i were excited to try out this place despite having read a review for it that contained the phrase«period blood.» and the first time we went, it was the best. fresh unlimited clams, oysters, crawdaddies… my family went apeshit. and then we spent the last 15 – 20 minutes silently watching my cousin robotically eat about 4 more plates of seafood and chicken wings. but then every subsequent time we went after that it’d drop about 25 percent in quality. nothing gold stays. au revoir bay buffet.

What can I say … Thank goodness. This place finally went out of business… The food at this place was beyond HORRIBLE. I’ve eaten at many Buffet restaurants. and this was definitely the worst. Bad waiter service, bad food, and as soon as you walk in the door, you can see Flies flying around the food on the Buffet area… I hope the Santa Clara Health Department came by and decided to shut this place down, because anyone could go home with food poisoning here.

If you appreciate your hard earned money & have pity for your taste buds, DONOTGOHERE! IT’S DISGUSTING&THEYMAKENOSECRETOFHOWPOORTHEQUALITYOFTHEIRFOODIS! I mean seriously, I’m surprised they are still open! I’m almost positive that they recycle their food here because when I went there, I could barely even look @ the crap they had in those warmers!!! I had to ask my husband what the heck that was(fried chicken) because it looked like something else! I only had steamed vegetable & it was hard to down that! My husband & I are NEVEREVERGOINGTHEREAGAIN!

What do you expect for $ 8.99? Asian buffets are rarely as good as regular Asian restaurants and Bay Buffet is no different. Are clean plates too much to ask for? Over half of the plates I went to pick up were either wet or had pieces food on them. Same for the soup bowls. As mentioned in a previous review, the chocolate ice cream maker is still broken.

$ 8.99 for dinner, stop complaining. «You get what you pay for» is all you need to know about this place. The new owners have left the décor as the previous owners have left it, though they have added regular tables and chairs that are«detached» so you can eat more comfortably. The selection of food here ranges from buffet typical soups, seafood, «American», sushi, salad & dessert. The seafood here is pretty good and in terms of freshness, it’s frequent to see the chefs replacing empty trays with piping hot food. My favorite had to be the baked mussels, the black bean clams and orange chicken. I decided to give the sushi a shot, I grabbed the mini pieces of Salmon Sushi and a California(which had Avocado). Not bad in all honesty, the Salmon was surprisingly fresh and the rest of the rolls were pretty edible(although, I did disregard the Seaweed Salad spewed on top of roll) the presentation made me iffy. The food is mediocre, the service here is consistent and hey it doesn’t leave a hole in your pocket. Sure you might feel a wee bit funny after eating that Sweet Cream puff you found in the corner of the dessert area, but it lives up to the price.

I’m not a fan at buffet’s at all, but the majority of folks wanted to go here, and who am I to say no to the majority of voters? Well the only reason they get too stars is for their prompt servers and the place was clean. The food is so so. For their soft serve it looked is the frozen yogurt was all icy which is not a good sign. This was by observation as there was no way I was gonna eat any of the dessert. They did not look good at all… At least they had my red bean gin doi(chinese donut) so I was happy about that. Cold mushrooms were funky, since the stem and the cap tasted like 2 different mushrooms. I didn’t have high expectations since it was a buffet. The funny thing was this place was the old Bold Knight buffet. It still has the BK shiels on the mirrors and outside they just placed the Bay Buffet sign over the Bold Knight knight.

NASTY. I’m never, ever, ever, ever, even if I’m almost dying of starvation, going here again. There was food gunk in between the prongs of the forks, nasty cheesecake, and pizza that tasted like crap.

The first time I went here was for this cheap guy’s birthday thing. He only wanted to go here because he could eat for free. UGH. The second time I went here was because of this team’s anniversary. The sucky part was that I had to pay 20 bucks for lunch. UGH. Never again will I go here. I wish Unilocal had a black dirty star. Pros: Parking lot is huge. The end. Cons: Right when you walk in, you will step on the sticky floor to the cash register where they will make you pay first. After being seated, make sure you have your ticket or you will get kicked out, prepare to order drinks that you will probably get 1 refill throughout the night. The plates may be dirty but you can wipe it off. The food quality is horrible since it seems like they only care about quantity. Fruits are disturbing. Ice cream is liquid. Bathrooms are disgusting. This place needs to be updated. English speakers please!

I don’t know what kind of buffets are everyone expecting, but liked it there. Food is decent, not bad for freaking 8.99 bucks. Service is fine. Nothing is That bad about this place. REALLY Maybe everyone else just had a bad experience, but not me! =] and i definitely want to come back from some yummy clams.

I don’t know why people have given this place such bad reviews. I was there sunday this week and went again today wednesday. It is really cheap for a buffet, now the deal is $ 5.99 for lunch and $ 8.99 for dinner. The food is pretty average for a buffet, a great deal for the price. They have ribs american style, and they are fall off the bone good, but sometimes it’s too dry. They have 4 different kinds of soup: wonton(with steamed wonton), hot and sour, miso, and seafood soup. On weekends, they have clams which are really good. The general chicken is good but can only take 2 – 3 pieces. They even have roast you can cut and ham. The service is pretty good, but they watch over you when paying for the bill. Sushi is decent but no fancy rolls with sauce. I would go here more often, but the ribs are replaced too slowly. Overall the décor is nice and the food is decent especially for the price.

I went here yesterday with my boy for lunch. since it advertised that it was only $ 5.99/person for a buffet, we figured — good deal! right? WRONG! i used the bathroom before we got food. nasty nasty nasty! the food was bland. everything tasted the same. the bread, the chowmein, the potstickers. dude, i swear, nothing had ANY flavor. nothing was cooked right, too. even the freakin french fries. what the hell. how can someone mess up fries? they were soggy. SOGGY i tell ya! i got full, because i picked out one piece of each thing i wanted to try and spit it out onto my napkin. poor napkin. he didn’t even see it coming. i think the only thing i liked about my experience there was that the sprite my bf had. FYI, Unilocalers, this place sucks. don’t waste your mula on this shit hole.

Pretty disgusting. The first thing I noticed here was a big sign behind the cash register that states«WEDONTUSEMSG». oh YEAHRIGHT. like i will believe that. this restaurant has a sticky feel. seats and tables feel sticky, utensils feel sticky, and the food. don’t make me start. There were some items that I liked(fried frog legs are CRACK!) but in general everything was really half assed. I hate how the food is extremely cold. Not even lukewarm! Dinner was $ 8.99 and was disgusting. They advertised lunch for being $ 5.99 so I dont even wanna imagine how that is like. AVOIDATALLCOSTS!

I’m not a big fan of buffets but this one is pretty good. They have pretty good service as well. It’s good for the amount of money you pay. You can always find 10%-20% coupons in the Metro paper. The food? Well, it’s pretty good. They have a wide selection of seafood(crab, crawfish, clams, muscles, shrimp) and chinese food. They also have a hawaiian food bar. They have a lot of soups which i like because I’m a big fan of soup! Other than that, I wouldn’t come here unless I was forced to go.

It’s hard giving a one star to a small business that’s obviously struggling in today’s economy. It’s down to $ 5.99 for lunch, $ 8.99 for dinner. Shrimp smaller and previously frozen. Sushi consists of wrapping a veggie spring roll in rice and nori, or the California roll without the avocado. No more«Mongolian BBQ» section. To their defense, I saw the lady who was replacing the tray of green beans picking out all the wrinkled ones and taking them back to throw away. There is some sense of quality control here. But everything is so greasy. And a larger number of items are fried or enveloped in a thick batter or bread crumb mixture to give it volume. Ice cream machine is broken so you can only get«Vanilla», and I doubt that machine will be fixed anytime soon. Still that doesn’t stop people from coming. It’s a lot busier now, and to some people, $ 5.99 is all they can afford so why not get all 3 meals in one day even if the food is subpar. After all, there were people waiting over an hour for a free«Grand Slam» at Denny’s just down the street. And finally, the décor of course is horrible. This previous«Bold Knight» restaurant kept all the paintings of King Arthur and fake Family Crest hangings. Walls are peeling in certain sections. Carpet dingy beyond any miracles a good steam cleaning can provide. If you want a cheap and filling deal and just want to feed your face, don’t matter what it is as long as it passes as edible, this is your place. But otherwise, it’s like watching a plane slowly going down in flames. Horribly painful.

One star since its free on your birthday but what buffet doesn’t do that. Anyways… every thing was just okay. Not anything amazing. The only decent thing here was the huge crab legs. However the icecream was horrible… how do you mess up on buffet machine icecream. Even Fresh Choice has better icecream.

this is my first review and it came about because of this pit of joint named bay buffet. seriously, because of this stank place, i went out and bought a laptop, got myself the internets and signed up on Unilocal just so i could warn all the world’s children… after spending the morning at a car show, my companion and i had worked up a giant appetite after eye feasting on a couple of kickass datsuns and a bugatti(a frickin’ bugatti!) and went in search of a buffet. now i was thinkin’ a golden corral or sizzler, but when i saw the words«bay buffet», i slammed on the brakes, busted a u-turn and in we went. i can sum up my feelings of this place with three short observations: 1. the tapatio bottle was missing its lid and had a quarter inch of dried gunk covering the top. 2. the sushi resembled old used up votive candles. 3. the drinks special signage on the table looked like it had been dipped in a booger bath and left out in the sun to dry about four years ago. i must admit, the sign for the place is the bomb. though next time i see a giant viking with a snake on his head and the words«bay buffet» i’ll save myself the trouble and slop up a puddle in the tenderloin. i hate to even admit this, but the mashed potatoes were quite frankly, some of the best darn mashed potatoes i’ve ever had in my life.

ew.ew.ew.ew. I was extremely scared of the produce area because there were tons of little bugs and the food looked like it was sitting there foreverrrrr. and why does it seem like chinese waitresses seem like they never want to help you and they hate you? hahahha well i mean if you like a buffet that’s cheap and um. oily. then you should go there.

1.5 stars. This review just made me realize how many buffets I’ve been eating. I had to come eat here out of courtesy for the Mister’s family. I hafta admit, it was more than what i had expected. They had salt and pepper crab and also some cold alaskan king crab legs. But you can def tell the crab is not fresh. There is a separate area for mongolia BBQ too. It’s also the same area where you can get a sorry looking NY strip steak season with Costco steak rub. The sashimi is frozen. But if you like Mr. Chau’s, you’d really like this place. Surprisingly some of their chinese food was one tiny step above Mr. Chau’s. But looking at all the medievel times paintings and run down booths and walls from the previous occupant, Bold Knight, it kinda degrades the place. Oh gawd, I feel like reviewing this place degrades me!

A couple of friends of mine decided to try this place out of curiosity. and sometimes I wish we weren’t so curious. Right when you walk in, there’s a sign that says, «LOBSTER!!!» We thought we were in for a treat. When we flagged down a waiter, we asked them about the«LOBSTER», and to our dismay, it was $ 9.99. I thought this was a buffet? *shrugs This place is not only a rip-off with below average food, but their selection was a joke. I went looking for a hidden aisle of food somewhere. They don’t have much to choose from. I didn’t even have a full plate. Save yourself the disappointment and go elsewhere.

This place was okay. The food here doesn’t look too appealing. I’d say the food is average and nothing stood out. It wasn’t crowded but there were a lot of people there. The price per person was around $ 13.25 and that’s for the dinner price.
