I finally got to try Big T’s! At first the service was good but then we got forgotten about. The food was good, everything tasted fresh. One of our orders got delivered to the wrong table. Definitely worth a try.

First experience with Big T’s was last night and I think I’ve found my new favorite local spot. I grew up close to the Florida Panhandle so I was basically raised on gulf seafood. That was the driving point for finding a top notch local seafood bar. I was very impressed. Fresh oysters, $ 5 beers, and an amazing sports driven atmosphere. The mixed house fries are incredible. The oyster shooters were an absolute treat. The calamari was fresh and crispy. I love this place so much I’ll probably be back tonight for warriors game 7 and sharks game 1!

If oysters and great tasting fresh seafood are your thing, then this is a no brainer. Good, large, divey looking place that serves cheap huge fresh portions. Had a selection of oysters, lobster rolls, and sashimi rolls with some drinks. EVERYTHING was spectacular. We come out to California a decent amount, and this is is now on the docket to head to each time.

Straight up I didn’t think I would like this place. I been to Boiling Crab and Kicking Crab but there’s just something about this place that kind just lighten up my taste buds. I’m not exactly sure what I had but it was a seafood mixed steamed with the San Jose sauce and OMG the sauce was good, spicy but goood. They had huge variety of sauces to pick from. I have to say their sauce seems on the light side compared to Kicking Crab, not bad but in a good way. They have a variety of other things as well like ramen which I found interesting. Probably will try next time. The pricing did kind of seem high, 15 dollars for a bag of shrimp… umm at least they have Happy Hour right? Well for drinks and appetizers. The thing that bothered me about the service was how inattentive the servers were.

I underestimated this place— Came during Happy hour(3 – 6:30pm) had 1 dozen oysters– YUM! Calamari rings– super yum! Mix fries– has sweet potato and regular fries with garlic and a whole bunch of other shit = the best. And of course the medium well steak, that’s got to be at least 20 oz’s. Everything was amazingly good! Service was awesome too! Thanks Miquel/Elven/and other unnamed people! I definitely will be coming back!

Parking sucks, even on happy hour!!! Good food, we ordered a dozen platter of Kuschi oysters, monkey dip, mix fries crabmeat dip, calamari tubes. It took 2 pitchers of beer to get our glass of water. TV’s all around which is a plus. It’s a vietnamese owned place so don’t expect awesome service. But if the owner knows you, you get a 5 star service. Sucks we were there when this group came in that the owner knows, when you order a shitload it won’t matter you’ll be shrugged off no matter. I won’t recommend this place to my friends, not even coming back here.

I love this place. I would come here one a week if my friends didn’t keep threatening me with mercury poisoning from a lot of shellfish or whatever. LETMELIVEMYLIFE. Owner is super friendly, I know everyone says that, but Big T will come and chat with you for a bit, get feedback on the quality of the dish and have a beer with you when it’s not too busy. He’s nice and carries a good conversation, but not over bearing. I’m here for Happy Hour mostly, but I’ve had their lobster roll. That being said, migrate away from the sandwiches, they aren’t special. What’s great here is the freshness of the small plates on the HH menu, Oysters, fried oysters, fried scallops and the grilled calamari…(basically everything) is fresh and tasty. I keep forgetting what my favorite type of oyster is so I just get two of almost anything that sounds close enough to what I remember. Food is quick to come out and the HH $ 10 pitcher of beer(any of the draft beers you want!) is a must to pair with these plates of deliciousness. A plus! They have a lot of TVs and show all of the games you want to watch, if they aren’t just ask nicely and someone will change a TV for you.

I came here when my parents were in town and we all loved it! They have a nice selection of different sauces/broths and we ordered some items twice, it was that good. A perfect combination of spices, but their prices were a bit on the high end. Otherwise still very tasty and I’d go back for sure!

May the FOURTH be with you! In celebration, here’s a four-star review on the fourth! It’s been awhile since my last… — - — — — —- — — -Happy Hour Smackdown! — — - —- — — — - - Commemorating the awesome performances of the Warriors even without Steph Curry! My friends and I watched most of the 2015 playoffs right here at Big T’s, so this place has a special place in my heart and mind. Typical Happy Hour –=VS=– Big T’s Happy Hour — — — — — — — — – — — — — — — — — — — — Choice of 5 appetizers + 10 appetizers — 2 or less hours to play, 5−7pm + 2:30 — 6:30 every day & All day first Sunday of the month — $ 5 gets you a tiny app + $ 5 gets you a hefty portion — Need to eat dinner after + Dinner was filling, wasn’t it?! FOOD: — — - Really fresh, good quality seafood. * Fried Oysters — perfectly flavored with just the right amount of breading. * Live Oysters(Shigoku) — very fresh and the perfect size. * Grilled Shrimp — savory sauce galore! Be ready to get messy. * Fried Scallops — I’m a huge scallop fan and these made me happy. * Sweet Potato Fries — gotta eat something healthy, right? ;) These are super tasty and go well with all the other HH food. * Blue Moon pitcher $ 10 — not a bad price! SERVICE/AMBIANCE: — — — — — — — - Excellent, very attentive service from the owners themselves as well as all the servers. They always make sure we have everything we need, and keep the food and drinks flowing! The place has plenty of natural lighting and numerous TV’s. Perfect for any sports viewing. It’s in a small center so has a shared parking lot. TIP: If sports and good grub is your thing, check out Big T’s. DATETIP: Date not going well? Just ditch your date for any of the surrounding Vietnamese coffee shops. Who says your evening can’t have a happy ending?

This place wasn’t what I was expecting. It’s a little more divey than I expected but SEAFOOD! And for reasonable prices during happy hour! The two of us ordered: –2 glasses of wine –2 glasses of beer –Whiskey –½ dozen happy hour oysters –Smoked mussels –Grey goose oyster shots –Bread My favorite dish was the smoked mussels, which had great flavor. The oysters were decent for the price. I wish they had wine specials for happy hour but really, if you’re looking for reasonably priced seafood, Big T’s happy hour is a good choice.

Okay, so I may have been a little skeptical at first. I mean. A really great seafood place in East SJ? Not really what I think of when I first think of SJ. Buuuuuut I was pleasantly surprised. Like. Really pleasantly. Brought Ann B. here for her first meal back in the US, after months abroad. Between her, the boy, and myself, we demolished 3 dozen oysters. With no problem. Met Big T, who’s super nice & he told us to come back whenever, so. we came back for Ann B’s last meal in the US [for a few months]… right after. We brought a few more friends, and yes, we ordered 6 dozen oysters(to split between the 6 of us). And we ate them all. Very very quickly. And. I’m coming back this week. For the third time in a month, which is insane for me, as we don’t live or work remotely close to east SJ. But hey — what can I say? Good service, people, food, and an amazing happy hour? You know I’m always down.

I really like this place! I see no problems with them. Their happy hour is definitely the spot to be if you’re in the area and want to try a variety of yummy tastes they offer, plus the currently $ 1 fresh oysters are amazing and beautifully presented! You get to choose where your oysters come from as well, which I have never experienced before, so it was super cool to see that oysters actually look a bit different depending on their source! There was a small problem when I went when the waitress got an order wrong, but I was okay with it. I ordered regular fries but was given a mix of sweet potato fries and regular fries. They were super crunchy, hot, and flavorful, so it is a definite recommendation if you like fries! I also loved their fried prawns and calamari. From this experience, I think all of their fried items are fried until perfectly crisp and seasoned generously — ample amounts of garlic and green onion! I would not order the lobster balls again, however — they were a bit too covered in mayonnaise and didn’t taste like any type of seafood. If I am ever in the area, I will always swing by for happy hour or try some of their other specialties! I love seeing all the live seafood offerings around the place, and they all taste very fresh! If given the choice, choose their non fried options as even though the fried food is delicious, you can’t pass up the delicacy of seafood in its pure, fresh form!

Still one of my favorite places to satisfy that seafood craving. Everything is super fresh and service is just as great as the first time we’ve been here. We had a different server this time, Tyrone, who I think was owner, manager, or part owner… somewhere up there. He provided great service and showed great concern about my allergies. He even knew off the top of his head how to substitute certain dishes. Unfortunately, they were sold out of Razor Clams again =(He said that they come in every Friday, so it only makes sense that they’d be out real fast. Ah… one day! One day I will be lucky to try it! We added a few new items to our regular order, Oyster Shooters and Japanese Clam. The Oyster shooters were yummy, and what I would assume is a mini sample of their Bloody Mary? The oyster that came in it was big too! I’d say it’s worth $ 6 if you haven’t tried it before. The Japanese Clam was ginormous as well, but luckily they shopped it up into small pieces which made it easier to share. Great flavor! And those Cajun Fries… still one of my favorites!

This place is awesome, especially during happy hour 3 – 6:30pm daily. You can bet on it being loud and rowdy since draft pitchers are $ 10 and live oysters are $ 1/$ 1.50 depending on the kind you get between those hours. I love going here for the live oysters that are super fresh and cheap. Get the oysters during happy hour! There are also other fried goodies for $ 5 a piece. The seafood combo platter is a lot of food for two people; it consisted of ½ lobster, ½ crab, clams, mussels, prawns, squid, and fish. I suggest not taking too long to eat this dish as it does not taste as good when cold. I have also tried the Spicy Lil J’s grilled squid, which was fairly good. My absolute favorite was the fried jumbo shrimp with GSW Cajun — that cheese & garlic butter sauce is to die for. The shrimps were crispy and flavorful. I actually scooped up all the seasoning left in the basket because it was that good. Big T will occasionally come around and drink with you. It’s definitely a bar atmosphere as suggested by the name of the restaurant. There are 11TV’s total, so it is a hotspot when games are on. I wish this place didn’t charge $ 1 per water bottle and $ 2.95 for soda. In my opinion, water should be free. However, I can’t resist coming back for the food. Remember to check in to Unilocal for 5% off the bill.

4.5 stars Met up with a group of old friends for a Labor Day late Lunch. I wanted to try Big T’s for a long time and since the friends were coming from the south and west Big T’s was right in the middle. The place is filled with big screen TV’s and has the music blaring. –minus– half star due to the decibel level. Luckily, my friends were loud too. We pretty much had a little of every thing on the menu. Geoduck Clams two ways Lobster two ways Oysters and clams on the half shell Abalone Top Shell Snails in coconut wine sauce Roasted Cherry stone Clams Sea Snails with garlic and ginger sauce. Spicy grilled squid. The Owner /Chef came out and checked on our group. He suggested some of the items ordered and explained he does not use salt or msg. All of items were fresh and excellent. Even with the loud music we wound up staying there for the whole afternoon eating and drinking. $ 305. for 6 people. and a couple of bloody mary’s and pitchers of blue moon. Parking is limited in a busy strip mall.

Yes, it’s that good!!! and I’ll be happily come back for more seafood! yummm yummm!!! We went on a Friday night. three seafood-lover hungry ladies!!! I got there at 7pm and got seated right away, the restaurant was half full. We ordered Top snails in coconut wine sauce. The sauce was mild and sweet, snails had to be slurped to get the meat out, yumm yumm… the dish was delishhhh but I personally thought the Kickin crab sauce was better. We ordered sweet potato fries. which apparently was sweet potato GARLIC fries! OMG soooo good, just don’t go to make out with anyone afterwards ahahahah unless that person also just had this sweet potato as well ahahaha! Sweet potato fries came with this spicy mayo based dipping sauce, omg so so so good. but my dining companions thought it was too spicy! Baby Tee’s seafood bowl — we ordered FRIED(per the owner recommendation) with GSW sauce(cajun cheese garlic butter sauce)… omg! this was our favorite!!! There was almost no sauce(I think they just tossed the fried seafood with the sauce) BUT we could certainly tasted the cheese and garlic, so so so so good! Portion was not descent to share but not large(we opted for no fish since one of us was allergic to fish) and perhaps there were about 6 pieces of shrimp(with head and tail n skin, but so crispy that I devoured the whole thing without peeling), about 6 pieces of calamary rings, about 10 – 12 pieces of clams and mussles, and a piece of garlic bread. 1 order of jumbo shrimp(it was probably around 1 pound or a bit less than a pound) Grilled with San Jose sauce! I loved this!!! it’s a bit spicy!(apparently, for non spicy eater, this sauce is spicy! for me, it was mild! It would have been good to eat this with rice!!! but we ordered lots of things that we didn’t want carbs ahahahah We also ordered jumbo shrimp STEAMED with Raiders(cream white wine sauce). The sauce was very very light and mild(not spicy at all). We ordered the shrimp steamed… so it allowed the sauce to get some dripping juice/broth from the shrimp… it’s delicious but it’s something that I certainly could have made myself at home. with tax and tips, we spent $ 90… not cheap but we did order a lot of food though! OVerall, I had a great experience here and will certainly go back with seafood lovers to dine here again. The restaurant has a nice high ceiling, felt industrial but yet modern. Service was helpful and friendly but I forgot about the 5% off Unilocal check in deal when we paid, oh well!!!
