Do not buy food here!!! If I can give them no star I would. We used to buy soft tofu and soy milk here, but since they change the new owner the quality is going down(maybe been a year or so). My sis bought tofu there twice, it’s spoil as soon as we come home. They told me to not buy food there, but today I was close by and my daughter wanted tofu so I give it another try. I went in and asked them if the tofu is new and asked to see it to make sure. They showed me the big pot, still warm, so I get one. I told them my bad experiences. They told me to put my tofu in the fridge right away if I don’t eat it. I did. I leave 10 mins away not 2 hours. From the time I bought tofu, drive home, put all my grocery and tofu away, I’m pretty sure it’s not more than 30 mins(in cool car and house, not under hot sun). I get a bow to eat at home after 30 mins in the fridge. It’s spoil!!! Can you believe! Not the whole thing. They mix thing up some how. You can hardly smell it bad, but when you eat it, you can taste it, there were good bites, there were bad bites. The bad bites tasted sour and smell sour. Yuck! To the owner: Do not try to fool your customers. If you think you can save money by selling old spoil food, think twice. I will never come back

The quality of this place continues to go downhill. I’ve tried almost every item that this place has and nothing has yet to impress me. Their spring rolls are always stale and the vegetarian food that are in the steam trays are never consistent in flavor. Sometimes the food taste really salty and other times it’s bland. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

This place is such a gem! Quick, cheap and tasty! They have a very large variety of already prepared food that you can pick and choose from. They sell in containers ranging between $ 3 – 5. My favorites are the bbq styled tofu and glass noodle stir fry that comes with a sauce that u pour over. I usually come in and pick 2 – 3 items from their hot food trays and eat with rice. Sufficient amount to feed 2 people and have extra for lunch the next day. They offer much more foods ranging from vietnamese sandwiches, noodle soups, fresh tofu and hot tofu with ginger syrup dessert, all vegetarian! CASHONLY! It is located in a sketchy plaza and their hours are very limited. I wish i can visit this place more often but most of the time, I find that they run out of food after 2pm and closed by 5pm leaving me to only weekends or middle of the week days off. Friendly service but it sometimes can take a while to get food. There is usually only one person manning the front meaning shes packing the containers, making sandwiches or getting stuff for customers.

Very different from what I remembered about this place. I came back here for the first time in over five years and it’s completely different! I usually just get the hot tofu with syrup. The tofu is cooked in this big pot and is scooped out for each order. It is served with simple syrup infused with ginger. Very simple but super tasty!

I love their vegetarian springrolls with peanut dipping sauce Their fried bananas reminded me of funnel cake batter, highly recommended! Go early in the morning between 9 – 10 for the best selection. Good, friendly service

I always come here for the tofu pudding. Its something light and to me, delightful. Reminds me of «taho» from the Philippines. The staff doesnt speak much english but if you point it to them, they usually catch your drift pretty quickly.

I spotted the small store/restaurant as I was walking to Marina next door. I was just exploring the area around and it was lunch time and I didn’t have breakfast. So, seeing«TOFU» on the store front really jilted the chubby-fried-tofu girl in me. I walked in, the two mid-aged vietnamese couple(store owners) quickly greeted me with a quick smile. I browsed through the steam table alined the side of the store. They had a good selection of read-to-eat vegetarian dishes. You could order rice plates/boxes. Towards the end of the long steam table, I spotted the FRIEDTOFU! They looked a little old… guessing they were fried a few hours before. 5 for $ 1 and they only had two kinds, either plain or the green onions/mushroom. I ordered $ 1 worth or the green onion fried tofu, proceeded to the front and noticed the patte chaud(baked pastry filled with ground pork). Good size for $ 1.50(about 3.5 inches in diameter), so I got one. I asked about the«chong fun»(thin white rice sheets) and she pointed to the rolls filled with meat. She offered me 50 cents off, so I decided to get it too, $ 3.50. The tofu was flavorful but not as fresh as the usual tofu I got flor Hung Vuong tofu in Berryessa. The patte chaud was yummy, it had a good amount of meat which I appreciate, good for the price! The rice sheet filled with ground pork was basic. The meat filling was a tad dry and probably I can get better tasting one but for the price, it was all good. They also sell variety of sandwiches with really good prices, around $ 3 per sandwich and they also sell other snacks like sweet tofu soup, soy milk, and other vietnamese style snacks. It’s certainly a great quick bite place on Monterey road :)

Mama, auntie, and uncle love their rice plates where you can choose your vegetarian sides. Uncle made a stop here after my doctor’s appointment same day we bought him a plate already just to get this green pickled /cucumber dish. I couldn’t try it since I was on my low iodine diet, but the way he described it was good. Service is a little biased, but always serves people. Vietnamese people serving people so communication is key. Even if I’m Vietnamese I still point at things because I forgot what it’s called or don’t know sometimes.

I grew up drinking homemade soy milk, so I have a basic idea of how fresh good soy milk taste. This place was surprising to me. It’s a little hole in the wall. The outside and strip mall it’s located in look pretty ghetto honestly, so I wasn’t expecting much. But either way I go inside, buy a gallon of soy milk, taste it, and am now extremely curious as to why more people haven’t Unilocaled it. I don’t know about the tofu stuff they do, only tried the eggrolls which were also good… but this is hands down the best soy milk I’ve tasted store bought in San Jose. Inside was very clean and bright, true meaning of a hidden gem.

I’m totally pissed off at this place. One time me and my cousin bought some food here we found a cockroach dead inside the food. My cousin politely pull the store owner over and told her about it, she did NOTHING. If I were her I would tell everyone in the store at that moment. Second time I found couple long hair in it and brought to attention, the store owner never apologize just give me a different portion. Vegetarian food here is not even average. It taste so off one day to the next. If you want good vegetarian food go to Dong Phuong at Story & McLaunghlin

Yes, the location is definitely not the best, but the food here is pretty good. Almost everything is vegetarian, and here’s what we had: — Vegetarian bo bia(spring rolls) with peanut sauce: The peanut sauce is so good; it tastes just as good or even better than the non-vegetarian peanut sauce. My husband loved it! There were tons of delicious vegetables, herbs, and my husband’s favorite Thai basil in these yummy rolls. Very refreshing and healthy. — Rice plate(rice + two selections/portions of dishes for $ 5.00 = great deal): The rice was pretty good, but the selections we made were a bit bland and a little too sweet. We had the Thai basil eggplant/tofu and the sauteed pickled greens/tomatoes/tofu. There was plenty of delicious basil in the eggplant dish, but it seriously needed some salt for my taste. The sauteed pickled greens were a bit too sweet and also needed some salt. — Tofu pudding(silken tofu) with ginger syrup here is really good and fresh. — Fried tofu with mushrooms/onions is really good, but my husband thinks the skins are a little tough and the insides are too silken/soft. P. S. I thought this tofu dish was fine/delicious, but I recommend this tofu over the plain or the lemongrass. TIP: CASHONLY TIP: Come in the morning/noon-ish to avoid eating old food that has been sitting around. This is true for most small«delis» like this. TIP: Not all the dishes are vegetarian, so if you are a strict vegetarian, double-check and ask which dishes are vegetarian.

Okay. this place is in a pretty ghetto location. right beside Marina but I always come back for their tofu pudding. I JUSTLOVEIT! Highly recommend if you want to buy tofu pudding. I haven’t had any other food from there though but my bf said their sandwiches are good. Oh yeah. their tofu pudding is 2.50 but they put it in this big styrofoam container and fill it up and they give you the brown sugar sauce on the side.

this place has a good selection of vegetarian dishes but you should get the food early in the day cause they won’t hesitate to give you food that has been sitting out for a few hours. And at the end of the day there isnt much selection left. Cash only!
