Came by before visiting the Mission. Cool place, sat on patio. Slow service, but nice waitress. Food dropped off without being asked if we needed anything else (we needed ranch for fries), burger ordered medium rare… was delivered well done… and waited 10 minutes for our beers. Fries cold, …could not really enjoy our food because of cold fries and nothing to wash our burger down with. Food was good (except fries). Fresh fries and beer brought out AFTER we ate our burger. want to emphasize that our waitress was a sweetie, but food could have been better quality. Maybe just came on a bad day?

Such a nice relaxing place the patio was so fun to hang out on Brad was a really nice and helpful with the menu!

Great food, great drinks, great location! The staff are very nice and professional and my friends, family and I enjoy the atmosphere very much!

Bummer. Had such high hopes. Sharing the prime dip. Barely okay. Fries were SOGGY. Irish coffee was good.
Chocolate brownie was good too bad that the meal came up short.

Finally an Irish Pub in my town and all is well. Great food, beverage and very caring service. My family go here 4 – 6 times per month.

So glad to have a Hennessey’s in San Juan. Great drinks, great service and best pub food around. Don’t listen to these other SJC snobs with their Tesla’s. Let em go to the wine bars (alos nice and more suited for their «set»). This is (finally) an alternative to the Swallows inn (also great). Heck… its a pub not a «club»! The back outside porch is beautiful and on a nice evening or lunch is the best outside dining in SJC. Also, I think the staff here is VERY attentive. Food is delicious. Repeat… love Hennnesys ! Just good food, good drinks, reasonable prices, attentive staff and a little bit o Ireland. We need this place in SJC! My favorite, a «Black and Tan» (or two or three) and some irish nachos.

I had a good time here this afternoon! We met a couple friends before seeing Star Wars at cinepolis. We went to the back patio and the bartender was super friendly. Good service and the chicken tenders were soooo good! Everyone ordered chicken tenders (one after another) and we all loved them. I’ll definitely come back for a drink and some chicken tenders!

Hennessey’s newest location in San Juan Capo is just what our little town needed! The location is ideal as it is across from our beautiful mission. My husband and I had lunch on the back patio. It’s a perfect al fresco spot with our beautiful weather. Even if it gets chilly, there are heaters. The sandwiches were yummy – chicken club for me and prime rib dip for my better half. We considered upgrading to fries, but the house-​made kettle chips that came with the sandwiches were just right.
Our service was friendly and attentive. Don, the manager on duty, couldn’t have been nicer.
I highly recommend this restaurant and plan to be a regular.

Fast service and a great outdoor patio in the back. They even have nice heaters and they didn’t complain when I ordered off menu. Little pricy though

SECOND VISIT
We went back a second time since we always give a new place several tries before giving a final judgement.
Well this time proved to be unpleasant. I had to go to the waitress station and ask that our server please check in with us. We needed more drinks and chips for the dip we ordered. She came by but soon after was too involved in conversation with a couple guys and other staff, including the manager, to provide us service.
I had read in the reviews that this has been the case for other patrons and now it was our turn. Not good.
The food is average, the back patio is great but if you can’t get good service, even on a slow night like last night, there is something wrong with the establishment at the management level.
Will not be going back to Hennessy’s.

First time here for breakfast. Very welcomed with are well behaved dog. Leah our server was the best. Enjoyed the Irish coffee n Dublin Benedict. Both were outstanding. Can’t wait to return for an evening of food drink n fun

We visited last Saturday at noon, right at peak time. They got us seated at the back patio right away. The back patio is great, very well done.
If I were only reviewing service it would be five stars. Our server Jamie was awesome. We had a big party (11 people) with 3 little kids, we are used to not getting the best service when we go out, but she was a pro.
This place (as other Unilocal reviewers have stated) will not give you a side of onion rings with your meal (you have to buy the whole side order). I think I am just a little irked by how weird that is, and how obnoxious a restaurant has to be to decide what is best for me. Anyway, I would not shy away from this place, but I will not make any special trips back either.

Went here on a Tuesday night after not being able to decide on what to eat for dinner. Little did I know it was buy 1 burger get on free night! Let me just say, the burger selection is quiet varied. I like the fact that they had many different options and everything sounded appetizing on the menus.
I ended up getting the Dublin burger. It had Irish cheddar, bacon and the most delicious meat patty. It was juicy and pink in the middle. I loved every bit of it.
The best part of the deal was my boyfriend’s burger (a blue cheese burger) was completely free! According to him, it was equally delicious.
All-​in-​all a pretty good first impression, I will be back for more. =]

Quick and friendly staff, scrumptious menu choices with all of the fav Irish choices, nice tall beers, coming back very soon!

Good drinks & good food.

A new bar in town!!! In for a few drinks with friends, had a great time! The staff is really friendly and nice. It’s a great spot and they had a live bad playing. Had their truffle fries and the Mexican mule… so good! Will be back soon!

Great spot and addition to downtown SJC. Patio is awesome. Service is great especially Emily the bartender. However this Shepard’s pie needs some help. It would be great if I got done meet with my mashed potatoes. Seriously lacking. It’s maybe 3 oz of meet. Let’s lock it up here. That’s definitely not Irish.
Update to last review. Added star here. It was a 4 star but they totally redeemed themselves. Another visit and another great experience. Bailey the bartender was awesome. She offers blankets to compliment the heater on the outdoor patio bar. Recommended the Ahi poke and steak and shrimp. Both so good. On top of all that half bottle wine Wednesday. Just don’t get the Shepard’s pie unless they’re willing to double the meat.

Why? Where to start…
Irish Nachos were good, but let’s be honest — it’s pretty hard to screw up potatoes with cheese.
I figured I would order a burger — seemed like an appropriate pub food item. Call me crazy, but sometimes I like to have onion rings with my burger. I attempted to order them, and was immediately informed that onion rings as a side were verboten! Why? Because Mr. Paul Hennesey feels very strongly that onion rings should be a standalone dish, not a side for a hamburger. (What happened to the customer is always right? Apparently Mr. Hennesey doesn’t care. We’ll just ignore the fact that his Western BBQ burger has onion rings ON THE BURGER.) Charge me $ 3 extra if you must, but let me order what I want.
Nonetheless, I continued my meal. The burger arrived (a «Moo Cluck Oink» burger served with bacon and a fried egg). Considering the level of potential flavor here, it tasted pretty much like cardboard. A little salt would go a long way. Bun was good. That’s about it.
Shepherd’s Pie. Classic Irish pub food. Absolutely no seasoning here at all. Tasted like a smashed potato with no salt, no pepper, nothing. Completely uninspired and bland.
Ordinarily, I would give a restaurant a few weeks to work out the food issues and then I’d try it again. In this case, I will not be returning to this, or any other, Hennesey’s location again — because a specific point was made to tell me that Mr. Paul «I know better than you, scum customer» Hennesey did not approve of my food choice. (And also that they did not carry Ketel One, a staple in any bar, again because Mr. Hennesey doesn’t feel that they support his brand.)
This confirms for me that the employees were specifically coached about what not to do, and specially why. So, Paul Hennesey, I hope you can find plenty of other suckers to leave their money in your establishment because I certainly won’t be one of them. I’ll be leaving my money at one of a dozen other restaurants within walking distance that aren’t run by complete D-​Bags.
