Honestly I’ve been to this place for years and seen this place progressed and boy has this place progressed. The presentation of the rolls are amazing. Layout looks nice and the food has gotten better. Long story short I would recommend this place to anyone who wants good sushi!

Beautiful restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff, but not over bearing attentive. Yummy food. We had a Hawaiian Roll, Lemon Roll, Deep Fried Philadelphia Roll and Garlic Edemmame. Everything like we asked. Thanks guys!

Umai was the family favorite for sushi for years, however no more. We decided to order take-out and when I called everything I tried to order, I was told sorry we don’t make that anymore. Ok, so I got a couple of suggestions. The order was ready very quickly – Great! I brought it home and it looked beautiful! However, the rolls were so HUGE, they fell apart, drenched with sauces, included lots of fried fish and tasted HORRIBLE! The wasabi was gross! I ate about ½ of my order as well as my husband. Immediately my stomach was upset. In a few minutes, my husband stated the same. The fish was bad! My poor husband is still sick this morning – trying to work. Sorry old friend, read the reviews and saw there is a new owner/manager – farewell:(

Used to be regulars here before the change in management. Now, we go maybe once a month or so. Some of the changes that have been made are nice, and for the most part the staff seems decent. I still don’t like the new menu and they still try to tell me that they may not be able to make rolls from the old menu… even though I know the chefs know the old rolls and have been able to make it for me every single time.

Came here for lunch with friends, and was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed my meal. So we ordered the red bull, dragon, Hawaiian, rainbow, crunchy roll, lemon drop, windy & a spicy chicken. Great presentation & very fresh. Weren’t a fan of the lemon, just too much yogurt sauce. Also wanted to mention that the wasabi was very mild & soy sauce seemed to be watered down. But customer service was great. We will be coming back.

Fresh Fish & Good Sake! The presentations for all the sushi rolls are pretty amazing(: And all the kitchen food is as delicious as sushi! Chicken Teriyaki is one of my favorite food items they have(; Fried Rice, Yakisoba, Ramen and Udon are so very tasty, too! They have«the real Japanese Food» there. They’ve got cool music and lighting inside the restaurant(: All the servers are pretty nice and good, too. It is definitely worth trying!

So good! First time here with a few friends. Service was okay, some servers are awkward and walk away after asking a question. But overall great deals. A little pricier than other sushi around town but worth it. There’s this boat for $ 12.95! Such a great deal.

My favorite sushi place! We go here every couple of months and they workers alwasy remember us and greet us kindly. I looooooove the catepillar rolls! My favorite! A great roll that I just discovered without rice is called the Green Aqua! It’s really good if you’re looking for a low-carb roll! I recommend this sushi place to anyone looking for a great authentic experience with wonderful and fresh sushi!

The sushi was cold, they had it out fast and service was fantastic! They made a custom roll for us we named ring of fire. It was as delicious as it was decadent! To go orders are quick and get this; you can get many of their rolls for $ 5! And it is a full version roll with nothing spared! Also try the Edamame with garlic, my wife’s favorite appetizer.

This is a good place for sushi. The price is reasonable. They had a renovation since the last time I came by, looking good now, I like the new design. Staffs are all young and happy. I came around rush hour so the wait a little long, but they keep on informing you, making it less a wait. Good location too, just across from Walmart, can stop by later, plus it is right by the 78, so convenient. I would recommend it as an escape for the traffic.

I like that this place is walking distance from my apartments, has decent sushi and they food/drink specials throughout the week. What caught my eye was the banner outside that said they brought back 50% off rolls. I came in with my husband and friend and we were lucky to have come during sake Tuesday where large hot sakes are $ 2.50. The boys got 2 large saporros and 2 large hot sakes and did a good amount of sake bombs throughout our dinner. I ordered the peach soju. It was sweet and came in a glass bottle with a cute shot glass. I think I paid $ 13 for the whole bottle which was a little on the pricey side and I barely felt a buzz from it. For the rolls — they say they are 50% off but it’s 50% off $ 17 rolls so you’re pretty much paying for a regular roll. We tried the midori, pinkus, red dragon, girls night and sweet crunch rolls. All tasted really good but had a lot of rice and imitation crab/spicy tuna in the middle and really small pieces of fish on top(which you can see in my pictures). They didn’t bring out any wasabi or ginger with our rolls so we had to ask for it and each plate barely had any wasabi on it. They also don’t serve or offer you water unless you ask for it. I’ll probably only come back since we can drink, get my sushi fix, and walk home but I wouldn’t recommend it for the«best» sushi in town.

If you’re into a trendy place with loud, bad music, over-priced, over-sauced, and over-sized rolls that don’t stay together, and rude waitstaff and sushi chefs, this is the place for you. It’s sad really. This has been mine and my whole neighborhood’s(we live in the houses right down the street from it) favorite sushi place for the last several years, since they opened in just the first half of the restaurant, but after the recent ownership/management changes, we will not be returning. The fish no longer tastes as fresh as it used to and the sushi chefs seem as though they couldn’t care less about you being there. Every roll is so drenched in sauces that they don’t stay together. Or, and I never thought this would be an issue, they are so overstuffed that they fall apart before you can get them to your mouth. The prices are all raised. I ordered togo food a few months ago and received a light in my box for decoration. If I’m paying extra for the light, I don’t want it. I occasionally dine in with friends and family, but mostly get food togo, feeding my addiction one to two time a month. The last time I went in, I stood there for a minute before flagging down one of the servers I knew to have been there for awhile. As she greeted me and walked towards me, another girl, one I had not seen before, came flying out from the kitchen, stepped in front of the first server, taking the menu out of her hands and telling her that she will take care of me. What a rude way to take over. The first girl looked floored by what had occurred and the second sat their smiling at me, completely ignorant of how absolutely rude and inappropriate she had acted. I’m sure they’ll do well, as Len and Judy really built a following with this place. But the true lovers of Umai are likely to not return. We miss our hole in the wall Sushi Bar and the food and people that made it what it was. They still have some of the old stuff! And they’re sure to tell you quickly, but some of it is different, priced steeply, or made so large you can barely eat it.

What the heck happened to this place. Menu has changed. Len is gone. None of the rolls taste like they used to. Very dissapointed

This place is amazing. Their sushi is always consistent and delicious. You really can’t get better sushi… Maybe unless you actually went out and started fishing for it and ate it five seconds later… Then maybe you can have better sushi. But until then go here. The service leaves much to be desired, but the sushi totally makes up for it. it’s probably my favorite sushi place ever

the sushi here is a little more on the pricey side but really good. My some and I had the uni shooters with quail egg on top last time we were here. they were amazing. the sushi chef made us a special roll not on the menu and that was perfect after we polished off a protein roll and some other roll I cant remember. We will be coming back he for sure.

I’ve been coming here for years and it’s always been my favorite sushi place in my area up until recently. Service seems slow most of the time(even on the mellow nights) but sometimes service is great. Fortunately, tonight’s visit was much more enjoyable than the last. The last visit was also my first one since the menu changed quite a bit. They now do some 5 piece rolls for about $ 5 which I have decided I actually like better since now I can try more rolls.
