We also go almost every Saturday and have for many years. Our experiences have been uniformly positive. My daughter has the chocolate chip pancake w/bacon and I have the Yahoo, which is an open faced omelet w/vegetables. They bring a pot of coffee — and milk to go w/it — quickly. That’s fundamental for a breakfast place to me and they do it well. They are more than friendly. They have long time waiters and waitresses who get to know the clientele over the years. Bay Watch is one of the things I love about San Mateo.

Happy Mother’s Day! I ordered a single meal To Go from the nice hostess at the register. I was told 10mins it would be ready, and to wait in there lobby and they will let me know when it is ready. I checked back 15mins later and was told by a waiter, «it is Mother’s Day, we are real busy», understandable. I could see a to go meal at the back counter, figured it was someone else’s. 30mins later asked again and the same waiter told me the same thing that it’s real busy and it would be a bit. At this point I’n getting a little frustrated. 40mins after my ordered, asked once more, which happen to be another waiter, he promptly turned around went to the back counter picked up the to go meal that I saw 30mins prior and brought it to me. I let him know that this meal was on the counter for 30 mins and he told me «you should have told us you were waiting this long for your meal». I have come here routinely for 2 years and never had such bad service. I wish I new the name of the gentleman waiter that did not have the decency to walk back and check the first time I asked. So, if you want good service and not a cold omelette and soggy bread, do not order to go.

So much better than ur typical ihop/Denny’s breakfast restaurant. A downer is that they only open til 2pm ! My always go to is the San Franciscan crêpe omelette. it’s so light and fluffy! Very delicious but I am willing to try other things from here everything looks so good. Everything taste fresh like a homecooked meal. House potatoes is on deckBTW large portions of food. & very close to home.

I’ve been to Bay Watch at least 100 times. I think I’ve gotten all of 5⁄6 items here. Why venture out, after all, when you know what you like? My husband and I get the same thing everytime: cajun chicken ommie(mine w egg whites and house salad). Sometimes we get crazzzzy and order one pancake(the crunchy one with coconut). Ridiculous. Just gluttony. Out of all the times I’ve been here, I’ve been disappointed once(watery omelette from the onions). Once in 100 times? That’s pretty damn consistent. Pretty awesome. Thanks and I’ll see you guys again soon!

Lovely American breakfast diner. Good food, cozy atmosphere and just the right price points =) We ordered a Hungry Jack consisting of 2 pancakes(banana oatmeal) and 2 eggs(5⁄5), and an Eggs Benedict which came with hash browns and fruits(3.5÷5). Total came about 30, which is pretty alright for the portion and service. The portions are huge by the way! Check out my pic to see how huge the pancakes are. We have walked past this restaurant gazillion times and never knew its existence! I had always thought it was an office, nothing by the window suggest it’s a diner. Also, whenever we walked past they were closed! Because they only open in the morning(DUH!) We waited approx 15mins before we were seated. Which is fairly ok and efficient compared to other brunch places. Once you walk in, you feel like you entered a different world. It’s gives a very homely, personable vibe — the atmosphere and servers too. Which is really nice. Overall, we enjoyed our time and our stomach were pleased too. Remember to visit with an empty stomach!

Solid brunch place. The portions are quite large — especially the pancakes! The pancakes are literally the size of a dinner plate. When you order a coffee, you get a whole pot of coffee on your table. The food is average, but satisfying. The place definitely feels more classic than any of the more hip brunch places down the street. Come here for a cozy brunch with the family.

Came here for brunch during prime time on a Saturday(11:30am), and every table was full but my wait was still just 10 minutes for a table. Granted, I was eating alone. Nice menu with all the classic brunch fare at reasonable prices. Food is not top quality(they didn’t have fresh squeezed orange juice) but it’s definitely passable. I got the tropical french toast and it was yummy but the fruit wasn’t super fresh. Biggest complaint here is that they don’t offer WiFi. Come on, you’re located in Silicon Valley people!

We love this place! Always friendly service and great menu selection. Lots of healthy options so there is something for everyone. My kids know many of the staff by name:) I love how a side salad is included with most dishes so you get your veggies and your yummy diner food. We will always be regulars here.

Good classic diner with big menu selection, and generally no wait! Bright a friend here for a quick breakfast before heading to the beach, and she says it’s the best waffle she’s ever had! :) I usually stick with a basic eggs toast and sausage and can’t complain. ;)

Friend wanted to grab food after working out so we came here after I consulted my bookmarks. I ordered the avocado, bacon, and tomato skillet with less cheese. It’s a pretty filling meal and comes with toast and fruit. Stole a bite of the eggs Benedict and the hollandaise tasted a tad too salty. Service was quick and friendly. Would I return? I no longer partake in waiting in lines for brunch so definitely not on a weekend. But I wouldn’t mind a quick bite here if there’s no wait.

One of my favorite breakfast spots! I used to frequent the one in Burlingame Plaza and lately I have been coming to this location. They don’t seem to get super busy where the wait is ever more than 15 – 20 minutes. Servers here are pretty friendly. Some of my favorites are the banana, coconut, macadamia pancakes; veggie omelette; and the veggie burger here is great if you come for a later breakfast/brunch.

Super yummy. There was no wait in line. Guy sat me down at a booth very nice even though I was eating alone. Not from San Mateo, the waitress was very friendly told me a few places to check out. Will definitely come again. I got the chocolate chip pancakes. Fresh and very yummy

5 stars for the«Greek Salad,» which is just short of nirvana. Really, amazing and generous combination of ingredients that somehow equal the perfect delicious meal. And I miss this type of seating and pace in San Francisco, so another 5 stars just for the perfect space. Service is hit or miss sometimes, but that’s because I think they are trying too hard to multitask. Now I said they have an outstanding Greek salad. Please do not extrapolate that to mean I(thus far) endorse anything else, because I felt lucky once and got the oriental salad and it was TERRIBLE! To my tastebuds, I had to give it several scoops because I couldn’t believe what I was tasting, bleh! But they were nice enough to listen to my criticism and praise for the Greek one, maybe they altered their recipe by now but I’m sticking with a winner– the Greek!

I just really like diners. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and the fact I go here often for lunch tells you that, I mean it. I like the basic breakfast here — which includes 2 eggs, country potatoes and toast. Sometimes, I change it up and get some pancakes or an omelette. Either way, always breakfast. I order an iced tea for the mid day pick me up and enjoy reading my kindle in a booth while the chatter of others enjoying their lunch goes on around me. I love diners. I don’t know why but they feel so warm and inviting. The servers are always so nice and attentive.

Breakfast food for the win! How can anyone not like this place? This place is the BOMB yo! Inside you will find a lot of seats, and a lot of very friendly and very attentive wait staff. The place is usually packed! You can tell the place is very well-run and very organized – food keeps coming onto the kitchen counter and the servers keep taking them away, but the counter is always full, with freshly cooked plates that are ready to be taken to customers. The menu is huge, with lots of options, but fear not – always go for the traditional breakfast! I got the scrambled egg with sausage patty, which was amazing. The sausage patty was served warm, and he eggs were just the right amount of softness. I even got the apple juice, which clearly was real apple juice – you can tell just from looking at it. They definitely serve the real stuff here The portions are pretty big – definitely enough to make you full. The price is also pretty reasonable. The place is definitely the place to go for real breakfast food. If you’re craving breakfast food, look no further – Bay Watch is here!

One of my favorite brunch places in San Mateo. I like the coffee you can have while you are waiting for a table. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with spinach, tomato and avocado. I’ve had eggs benedict at many other places, and this one doesn’t disappoint. My husband ordered the bacon hungry jack. The service is good. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey. But still, it’s the only real diner-like brunch place in the city so I would definitely come back!

Probably the only true diner in the 3rd/4th street area of San Mateo. It’s open until about 3pm so you can have breakfast late! They bring a thermos of coffee and a pitcher of water if you order them, which I love. The food is consistently good, they always have specials and the portions are large. They also serve lunch and it’s a great place to get a big salad. There’s plenty to choose from — I really liked the chicken, pecan, bacon salad. My only complaint is that with the prices being so reasonable, I’m sure it’s all commercially sourced food. No free range eggs, organic veggies or nitrate free bacon here. The service is top-notch. We’ve always been taken care of here, no matter the time of day. And they never pressure you to leave. You pay at the front so you leave when you’re ready. Great experience, good food, fantastic service. It’s one of our local favorites.

Yum! Do you enjoy a good breakfast in the morning? I know I do! I always like coming here when I’m back home to visit. I remember coming here when I was younger with my grandparents and family, so this place has a special place in my heart. My favorite thing on the menu is definitely the wheat germ pancakes. I always have to order at least a short stack to go along with whatever else I want to eat here. My most recent visit, I came with my mom and we ended up splitting a short stack of wheat germ pancakes and a special eggs benedict. The eggs benedict was by far one of the best I had ever had(please see my picture!). I don’t remember the specifics, but I know there was spinach, bacon, I think some avocado, plus some other stuff. My mom and I don’t eat a whole lot, so splitting the short stack and the benny was more than enough for us. The waitstaff here is always kind and friendly, which is a plus during meals. There are new specials all the time, so you can go any time! I’ll be back and you should come try it too!

We got the recommendation from a nice old lady at Dragers when we asked for a nice breakfast spot nearby. Came here with some coworkers for a late breakfast. Surprisingly the restaurant wasn’t empty on a weekday morning. Coffee was good and service was great. I would recommend this for anyone in the downtown San Mateo area to stop by for breakfast/brunch.

I came here with my friend for breakfast before heading to the airport. We were seated right away and given the menu. They have a pretty extensive menu here, but my friend had come here before so we already knew that we were going to order the pumpkin pancakes. I ended up ordering the mushroom bay cap, and my friend had the italian frittata special. The coffee here is delish and a must order, it had a rich and robust taste without a single hint of acidity. The coffee is also fair trade certified which is a huge incentive to drink it. The food came out in 10 or 15 minutes, and was served on huge platters, talk about portion control. The mushroom bay cap special was not how I imagined it all, it was a baked mushroom dish with cheese on top. I was thinking that it would have been a mushroom omelet with all sorts of toppings. The mushrooms were very tasty though, so I didn’t mind that it wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be. The Italian frittata special was a smörgåsbord of food. It consisted of a 3 egg frittata on top of a huge pita bread. The frittata had pesto, chicken, cheese, tomatoes, and olives on top. We also had a choice of hash browns or home fries. The home fries were super crispy, they taste so good dipped into the Santa Fe chicken salad dressing. Pumpkin pancakes was the best way to finish off our gluttonous breakfast. The pancakes are made TOORDER. This was evident by how chewy and fluffy the pancake was. Total was $ 40 with tax and tip ! We had enough leftovers for lunch so I’d say this place is a must go.
