We accidentally found this place driving around and the accident was good ! We ordered only two rolls because we didn’t want to be disappointed ! Walnuts in a roll? Oh yeah ! That was good and interesting ! We also loved the Bloody Mary roll ! Spicy and tasty! Walked away feeling full and will come back again !

I was going through the motions of what to have for lunch and I gave into my chirashi craving. Chirashi is fairly pricey so I can’t have this daily as well as sushi rice can be my achilles heal and trying to lose weight and having a ton of rice isn’t the best idea. Anyways, I decided I should try Senro Sushi’s chirashi and overall, a lot of food for the price you pay, but just felt okay overall. L O C A T I O N Senro is located in the same plaza as Safeway. It’s right near Frozen Café, Orient Express, and Fish on the Grill(or something like that). Parking here can be really crazy during lunch time and I lucked out finding a spot. S E R V I C E I called in my order and they quoted that I should pick up in 15 minutes and I came a little less than that and it was definitely all ready to go. They do ask for your phone number and name and double check that the location is San Ramon in Safeway. I guess they might have had folks order for the San Jose location. F O O D ~ Chirashi Bowl — $ 18.43(including tax) ~ For 16 pieces of sashimi, you’re basically paying $ 1 per piece which isn’t too shabby considering you get a nice layer of sushi rice, salad and miso soup. The slices felt small, but perhaps this is normal sized slices. One of the fishes didn’t feel fresh, but the rest did which isn’t that bad. The tamago was nice and sweet. the ginger didn’t feel fresh, but I still ate it. The salad had your standard sweet creamy mayo based salad dressing with iceberg lettuce. Miso soup was salty but that’s typical. O V E R A L L I feel like Yayume had better chirashi, but my memory might be incorrect. I’ll have to revisit it, but for the chirashi in the area, it’s definitely better than Sakura Japanese. If I’m ever craving chirashi I’ll either go here or Yayume.

We came into this parking lot while passing through this city because of the new poki restaurant that I happened to have bookmarked. We were tired, craving sushi, and the poki bowl place was completely busy, dirty, no room to sit, and not the usual sushi fine dining experience that we were looking for and so we came here and I’m quite happy that we did. I, used to Japanese restaurants, over-ordered, not realizing that the higher prices were for HUGE portions. That poki bowl, or even noodle plate was bigger than my head! Shoulda only ordered 1 thing, but the leftovers were awesome! We enjoyed every bite. My negative star is solely due to them not explaining their dishes. I ate a red & white semisoft meat whereas I couldn’t tell if it was really fatty snapper, or lean yellowtail. Where we go, that’s typically explained to us. Overall, would come back for the sashimi roll, if I was in town.

this restaurant is great great service for the price its one of the mid range price sushi places but your not getting bad food either so its a great place for people who is a first timer trying sushi because of the price and for sushi veterans i love it there. Go in and have a bite you love it.

I’m tempted to give this place one more chance. Been in once for takeout, once for a meal with my mother, but neither time was overwhelming. I think the fish is good quality, but their rolls lack originality and I was pretty offended by the brusque, perfunctory service I received when seated for a lunch. I’ll probably be back in once more, because I’d like to keep this as one of my neighborhood frequent flier locations, but if the service remains poor, I’ll update accordingly.

I actually came to this place before poke don opened across the way, and always had a good experience. I’d say I’ve been here about seven times now, And have never had anything short of a good meal. My standard order is the Chirashi bowl, and whoever I bring with me at the time as always ordered something along the same lines, whether it be a roll, or some sort of specialty item. I can’t recall a time when myself or he other party had any complaints, except perhaps that I wish the portions on the chirashi were larger. tThis is honestly a pretty solid sushi spot, but I will say that it’s on the pricier side for what you get.

4 stars overall rating, over 200 reviews… YES its must be good! Reading the reviews I felt safe to order my food to go even though I have never been to this establishment . I have to say if you come here just eat their rolls and sushi as that was the best part of our meal but STAYAWAY from their Bento Box item. My calamari entrée was basically fried rubber! Old, chewy and actually not really edible 2 piece of questionable things! Pour lots of tonkatsu sauce and you can enjoy it with your«salad»(which is more iceberg than anything else) one miso soup(which is literally water with miso). Voila that’s 14.99 $ worth of «food» you eat. Hubby’s bento box consisting with chicken katsu(fried dry chicken), gyoza(frozen gyoza you can buy at any grocery store) and beef teriyaki(beef dumped in teriyaki sauce). 19.99 $ for that! Their rolls are really the best choice and way to go! Stay away from everything else!

Sushi is really great — the place gets exceptionally crowded though, and they are always understaffed. Last three times we went, it took over a half hour just to get waters to our table. A huge downside(and why they only got three stars) is that despite having what I would call an in-depth menu, they do not state all ingredients in their rolls. This oversight is not disclosed and unfortunately, a roll that I was told had no flour or deep fry came out with tiny bits of deep fried something inside. The menu didn’t state this, nor did the waitress when I asked. By the time it was realized it was way too late. As a celiac, this destroyed my evening and left me in excruciating pain. This will likely not be a place we revisit anytime soon.

I was going to get a Poki Don Bowl but the line was too long so I walked across the parking lot to Senro Sushi and to get a Chirashi bowl. Got seated right away the place was about half full but when I left there were people waiting for a table. I ordered the Chirashi bowl since seeing the the pics on Unilocal. The chirashi bowl is $ 17 and is served with miso soup and salad. The bowl came out and looked a lot bigger in the picture. However there were three cuts of snapper, tuna, yellowtail, albacore and two pcs of tamgo. It was satisfying and good. This was the first time i tried Senro Sushi. The menu is very traditional Japanese with you basic fish, however the assembly line sushi bar makes it fast. Good option if you want to sit down and don’t want to wait in line across the center. Service is fast and efficient. Plenty of parking in the large Safeway center.

So, my hubby and I ate at this restaurant by accident because Poke Don(which is in the same shopping area) was closed until their grand opening this Thursday, 3÷10÷16. Well, like that old saying goes, «When one door closes, another one opens» and boy were we in for a treat! This Japanese restaurant is delicious. We started with the warm garlic edamame and it was different compared to other edamame’s we’ve had because this one had a zest to it like a lemon favor or something and it was yum! I wanted to try something new so I got the Unagi Fried Rice and that was OK. It’s your typical fried rice, but just add Unagi to it. We also ordered two rolls. One of the rolls was the REALCRAB California Roll and that’s right folks, it had real crab in it and by golly, did it make me look at California Rolls in such a better way! The second roll, The Baked Scallop Roll, was also a flavorful treat. The Chicken Karage was delicious as well and I believe that was fried in a tempura batter. I ordered a spicy mayo on the side to compliment the Karage and to me, it made it all the better. So, would I come back here… HECKYEAH!

Senro Sushi was perfect for lunch. The ShrimpTempura was lightly battered with a delicious Ponzu Dipping Sauce. The Sashimi Assortment was sliced nicely and very fresh. The Titantic Roll was so flavorful and the Cheesecake Dessert balanced out the savory and sweet flavors. The Sake Sampler also paired well with the dishes and added the right touch to cleanse the palate. Will definitely return again in the future.

Prompt service! Seriously fast, I swear our server was practically teleporting around the room, it was quite impressive. The food is really good too, except for the Ninja roll, that one should be left off the order unless you like a mouth full of cream cheese, or whatever is on there. Overall, I definitely recommend the place. Great service even during a busy hour.

Updating review for Senro Sushi, and keeping my 4-star rating. We still come here quite a bit, since its convenient to both Safeway and CVS. The opening of Sharetea and Frozen nearby also opens up dessert options to end a meal when the feeing strikes. The nigiri deluxe combo with California rolls has been pretty consistent here — it’s at least in the same league as Yayume down the street. Where I think Senro does shine is their 3-item combo dinners! For dinner yesterday I went for tempura(2 shrimp, brocolli, zucchini, carrots), teriyaki salmon, and grilled saba(mackerel). All this plus miso soup and a salad for just under $ 20. The wife normally gets the seafood udon — the noodles look thick but its actually pretty light and easy to digest. There broth is excellent and full of umami.

Pretty good Strip Mall Sushi! Sashimi says a lot about a sushi place, and I have never been dissapointed by their salmon. Fresh, large portions, 6 pieces for $ 12.99. Large selection of rolls if thats your thing, and the staff keeps the tea & hot water flowing.

I was surprised to find a decent sushi place in San Ramon. The fish is pretty good quality(for what you would expect in the tri-valley), the rice is nicely flavored, and the price isn’t crazy. I usually order the nigiri deluxe, but I’ve tried a few rolls and they’re good too! The service is alright, nothing spectacular. Also, definitely a 4-star for having quality uni!

I am not a sushi snob but I can tell when it was way above average. This is exactly the case here at Senro. My small sashimi was very generously cut. Each slice of fish was twice the size of your average sushi joint. It was so large that I had to half it with my chop sticks. And the fish meat was so soft and delicate that I could cut it in half with great ease. My mango crunch roll featured really recognizable slices of mango and each roll had macadamia nut inside. I am not easily surprised and rather lazy when writing reviews. This one I felt compelled to write, well deserved!

Great Sushi place! Ordered the 3 item bento(Chicken Katsu, Gyosa, & Tempura). My friend ordered a Dragon Roll. Both were equally as tasteful and satisfying. I like their customer service and politeness of the staff. The restaurant itself was clean and well maintained, the ambiance was nice as well. Will be coming back here!

Best sushi in the area for me! A few years ago before I left SR for Houston for a work assignment, I remember seeing Senro being built. At the time, I was the foodie that I am today and never really bother to eat there. I always enjoyed sushi but I ventured further to Dublin cause I thought I’d get better sushi. After this is San Ramon and most of the food here is just good but not great. Fast forward 3 years and here I am back in SR and graving sushi. So I Unilocal for Sushi and to my surprise, Senro Sushi showed up with its 4 Unilocal Stars. I was like I remember this place, I guess I’ll try it. The setting: overall, the place is nice but really nothing to write about. it’s located by the Safeway on San Ramon Valley Blvd. There’s plenty of seats for 50 or so people. When I got there on a Sunday night(around 9 pm) there were hardly anyone. But this was great cause it made the prep time much faster. in terms of variety, Senro really hits a homerun. there’s plenty of entrees and appetizers to choose from. There are over 20+ nigiri to choose from, and over 60 rolls!!! If you don’t peak at the menu ahead of time, you’ll be going over the menu a few times. We ordered the Shelby Roll, Carnaval, and the o-toro nigiri(just had to get it). To my surprise the rolls were delicious mainly for the following reasons: 1. The fish was fresh 2. They used real crab meat and it really does make a difference. 3. The rice was at the right temperature. 4. There wasn’t an overwhelming amount of sauce on the rolls. I gobbled them quickly!!! the nigiri o-toro itself were good but not great. the tuna didn’t feel as fatty as i’d like and the fish itself was a little too cold to my taste. this probably contributed to the non melting effect. Still for $ 14 for a couple of pieces I wasn’t offended at all by it. This leads me to my last point, the prices are great for the area. Their more expensive rolls aren’t over $ 15 with most of them in teh 12 – 13 range. To me that’s a steal. In conclusion, Senro will definitely be my go to sushi place when I have guest or when i need a quick dinner!!! really good place to eat!!!

It’s unfortunate that I am downgrading my review. The three stars still represent my complete satisfaction with my orders ie: tempura udon which I order frequently as well as the sashimi plate with hamachi and maguro. The unagi fried rice is very good as well as chirashi bowl. So what brings it down two stars? The service and the servers. Same ladies, there are three that I notice each time, and its unfortunate that their facial expressions and demeanor reflect someone who doesn’t seem happy to be there or enjoy providing good customer service.

Came here with my friends ordered a ton of sushi. The food is good but the service can use a little more attention. No one refilled my water and I had to ask twice for them to bring me something. I’ve only been here for lunch but when they get busy, I feel like they forget about you and just do a half decent job. As for the food, the rolls actually aren’t bad. The fish tastes pretty fresh and the portions seem to be just right. Usually order three rolls between two people. It’s not cheap sushi but it’s not overly expensive either. Out of all the sushi places in the work area I definitely would come here over the others if I am looking for a not as pricey one like Amakura.
