Disappointing dinner tonight. Waited 20 minutes to give a drink order or to even get water. My husband and I both ordered the prime rib which came undercooked. The hostess came to apologize after the waitress informed her we were displeased(which we didn’t express until pressed as to why we didn’t finish our dinner), and she told us if we had said something it could have been corrected. Ok, a bit of an attitude. This has been a favorite restaurant on the Cape. It won’t be our first choice in the future.

Environment is very good. Lovely interior. Located in a inn surrounded by trees and all nature feeling. Food is 4⁄5.

Can’t say enough good things about the Dan’l Webster! The tavern and conservatory are fabulous! Sunday brunch is a tasty treat! If you are visiting Cape Cod this is one of your«must try» restaurants. Rich with history– a stroll through downtown after your meal is well worth the drive.

We went here for dinner while staying at the Daniel Webster. I had the Salmon and my daughter had the lobster soup and both were wonderful. The décor in the green room is beautiful and it is nice to see outside when eating. The natural sunlight was great! The only issue we had was more service oriented. Water glasses were not filled, bread was not brought over promptly and we had to wait some time for our check. Overall though, we would return, it was a nice dinner!

food is just mediocre. good enough to go for a «oh we want a dinner out» but definitely not a «we are having a romantic evening» dinner. Waiters are boorish. Dining Rooms are bad — Definitely touristy

We were seated very promptly in the Tavern for a our 6PM reservation to celebrate our anniversary. Our waitress Joanne greeted us and we ordered a drink and began looking at the menu. I was disappointed to see that sirloin tips were no longer on the menu, but I chose the pork tenderloin. My salad and my husband’s lobster chowder was very good, but it went down hill from there. When I was served the pork tenderloin and the waitress had left, and I noticed that my small«oven roasted» potatoes were charred and blackened. Not wanting to cause a scene, I ate most of my pork tenderloin but left the potatoes after attempting to eat a few. There were some peas on a bed of parsnip purée which were palatable to say the least. Everything tasted burnt. When Joanne came back to the table, I had picked off four of the small potatoes and told her to take everything back to the kitchen, as I was very disappointed with my meal. She removed the plate and went back to the kitchen. She came back a short while after to try and appease me by offering me a free dessert, but by that time I was disgusted. My husband finished his dinner, and we left shortly after that. She again offered me a dessert to go, but I refused. The total bill was $ 86.14, the pork tenderloin was $ 27.00.The bill was paid with two gift certificates that I had received, so thankfully I wasn’t out any money, but believe me, we will not be back. This is unfortunate because it is a beautiful Inn, but the meal was awful.

The good news about yesterday’s lunch at the Daniel Webster Inn: we were seated at a favorite window table in the beautiful atrium, enjoyed an outstanding Cosmopolitan, delicious garden salad and lobster chowder along with yummy warm crusty rolls. Now the very bad news: the smoked salmon and lobster cakes topped with baked stuffed shrimp and hollandaise sauce offered as a special luncheon entrée sounded good, so we ordered… big mistake! The dish was accompanied by a not very good rice pilaf and mixed vegetables(just okay), but the cakes were burnt black, top and bottom, mounted with a small, overstuffed shrimp, drizzled with barely a teaspoon of hollandaise sauce. I noticed as we were leaving that nearby diners who had ordered the same entrees were served the same(blackened!) version. As a concession the restaurant removed the cocktail from our bill. Our server was excellent; but someone in the kitchen was not doing their job — to allow those meals to be served was a disgrace and disappointing for a restaurant of that caliber.

I’ve had a good experience in their Tavern, but this review is for the main restaurant. We went for dinner last night and they were serving a special Valentine’s Day menu. Selection was small and prices here are high(not surprising, we knew this ahead of time). However, for the prices the portion and quality of the food doesn’t come anywhere near worth the expense. My date ordered the lobster soup, and at $ 8 it was a tiny cup, not the bowl size you would expect. We had the fried calamari, which was good, but again, for the price, it was nothing special and a small portion. I had the lobster crusted cod which came with a vegetable and their«house rice quinoa pilaf.» Again, portion was extremely small, a small cut of fish, 3 asparagus and a tiny scoop of rice(didn’t notice any quinoa btw). The cod wasn’t warm enough and the lobster portion was almost non existent. All around, very disappointing and not cheap! My first drink was good(dirty martini) but second drink tasted like there wasn’t a drop of vodka in it. Overall I would not recommend their main dining area at all. Things are bland, under seasoned, predictable and doesn’t come close to living up to their prices. There are many other places on the Cape where you can get a much more imaginative, tasty dinner for less. Extremely disappointing, they haven’t escaped their reputation as an «senior restaurant.»

DW is back to being my favorite restaurant on the Cape. The food is great, the service is wonderful, and I luv the bartenders. A lot. I became vegan, and had some trouble initially, but no longer. I love the Miso stir fry. And my family loves the variety and creativity of the rest of the menu. The atmosphere of the tavern is comfy and warm.

I love the character of the Daniel Webster Tavern, a traditional restaurant that feels more like a large home during the civil war period. They have one of the best brunch buffets around and I’m eager to go back. All staff on deck, they were able to serve our large party of 10 on a crazy busy Sunday. Of course, we had a reservation, it’s a must.

My family and I stopped in yesterday afternoon for beverages and a snack around 3:00 pm. We(all 6 of us including 2 children 8&10) sat at the bar in the Tavern. The kids had something off the kids menu while the adults had either a salad, or French onion soup. We all loved what we ordered, and our server David took great care of us. We have been here before and we will return again to this landmark establishment in Sandwich.

This is a really cool spot! So olde and New England-y… In fact this ancient Inn and Tavern is complete with stocks out front for hilarious pictures mocking early american history, where public shaming for such crimes as «wandering from place to place» instead of «frequenting the publique worship of god.» — Seriously though, the service was great, and the food was delicious. My love, Susan, also said the drinks were stiff, really strong. So, maybe that’s a good thing too.

Very good and well-priced, with pleasant and attentive service. Pretty dining room, with view of the garden. Very convenient if staying at the inn/hotel(which I would certainly highly-recommend).

Took a ride to Cape Cod and stopped in for lunch. I got a pear martini and Abner got a coffee with Bailey’s. Drinks were extremely strong(not that we’re complaining). Abner got the Lobster Chowder and I dunked my roll into it. Nice flavor and lots of chunks of lobster. He also got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which he liked very much. I got the Turkey BLT. Real turkey. My only issue was the toasted bread that seemed a little too hard. Took away from the tastiness of the sandwich.(My gums are still sore from biting into it). It was a beautiful Fall day and I loved looking out the window at the waterfall and the fish in the koi pond. Stopped in the gift shop and bought some Christmas gifts too. Worth a visit if you are headed to the Cape.

Outstanding food and outstanding ambiance! I was searching for a special place to celebrate my birthday and decided to try the Daniel Webster Inn restaurant. I was delighted that it surpassed all my expectations: gourmet food at reasonable prices; gorgeous ambiance; beautiful hotel! It has become my go-to restaurant whenever I have guests visiting. I haven’t visited their Inn as I live on Cape Cod but I’m sure it’s every bit as good as the restaurant. I was so impressed(and I’m not easily impressed!)

I can only grade this place on Sunday brunch, but what a brunch! I can’t remember ever going to a buffet where I liked everything, but I really did like everything. Bananas foster French toast, seafood crepes, omelets, waffles, fruit, cheese, salmon, bacon, sausage, all of it was amazing. Truly superior. Worth the trip from wherever it is that you are. Two suggestions: one, make a reservation. This isn’t a hidden gem, people already know how good it is. Two, budget for it. You won’t walk out of there for less than $ 70 with two people including tax and drinks(not included). Definitely worth it though.

A very lovely, classy restaurant. This place is quite impressive. Very comfortable and cozy I cannot get enough of Daniel Webster’s restaurant, especially the Beef Crabioli and the duck breast and the crème brûlée and the burgers and the lobster grilled cheese and the lobster chowder and the cannolis and the mud pie… what happened? I blacked out for a second there but i’m better now. The food is quality and the staff is quite friendly I highly recommend the Daniel Webster Inn.

Have been here for weddings and for the Sunday brunch buffet; nothing less than fabulous. Pricey but worth it on special occasions. Wedding spaces are gorgeous, quaint and I think even more beautiful during the winter. The dining room is also gorgeous. I would suggest the brunch buffet. I think it’s only on Sunday.
