This place won me over I absolutely love their pizza. We are really busy and always know we can order take out from here and it will be good. I wouldnt order their veggie burger again, but I highly recomend the roasted fig pizza!

Figs is a very popular restaurant in the middle of Sandy Hook’s business district. It has very interesting menu options, and has a really nice outside area which is great in good weather. The only thing I think prospective diners should be aware of is that the inside of Figs can get really loud when it is crowded. This makes relaxed dining really difficult. Also, on some nights the parking can be a real issue so people should be prepared for a little walk. Doing that in good weather is not an issue, because there is a nice bridge nearby over the Pootatuck River, but on a bad weather night it could be a problem. Overall, a great place but be prepared for the negatives.

This restaurant was very good. It is a solid four star but as you will see with a few disappointments that I will mention below they are just another three star restaurant around town. First… You can call ahead 30 minutes to put your name on the waiting list that way when you get to the restaurant it should only be a few minutes until a table is ready. NOPE! When we got to the restaurant the host told us another 45 minutes. I first thought she was joking but no. Once you get to the restaurant then your name is activated which is the same as walking in and putting your name down. Hence making call ahead use-less. Second… On a Saturday evening you have a host who is competent and knows their job standing at the front door at all times. While we were waiting for 45 minutes multiple people walked in and were very confused that there was no on to greet them at the door. They had to go look for her. If we didn’t have out of town guests who really wanted to eat here I would have walked out and never came back. Third… Very nice to have outdoor patio seating. You can make a few more bucks by pushing a few more tables through on a nice night. Who’s dumb idea was it to have your staff access those tables through he main front door where people are entering/exiting the restaurant and waiting for a table? Yes please carry my dinner through a crowd of people sneezing on my food. Fourth … Why is your hostess also busing tables? Dumb. Fifth — This is Newtown not Greenwich, why are drinks $ 12? They were delicious but not 1200 pennies worth of deliciousness when 90% of my glass is ice. Sixth — Your parking lot is terrible. Only enough spots for maybe half the tables in the restaurant on a good day? Maybe valet parking would be nice. Food is delicious but on the heavy side of pricing. Delicious pizza’s, calamari, etc. It would also be nice when you service a pizza pie to a table to give them a little triangle server spatula!!! How about your waiter/waitress also asks me how my food is in the middle of the meal and if I need a refill of water!!! I’m on the fence if I’d ever go back especially since I’ve had many great experiences are the Foundry right around the corner. If you have a manager on-site supervising your staff… I’d find a new one who pays attention to detail, not one who stands around.

Consistently good food and service with a diversified menu. We split the veggie burger and the arugula and fig pizza. Both were excellent. Brussel sprout app was solid, but not overwhelming. I also like the new digital billing system … Very progressive! We went a little later than normal this past Saturday and got a table in the bar quickly. Overall, we’ve had consistently positive experiences at figs … Atmosphere is always fun and the food is consistently good.

Dinner is always good. We’ve never had a bad meal. Service can be a little slow sometimes, so don’t go if you’re in a hurry.

Good food and good value. Service can be maddeningly slow at lunch. Tell the waitstaff that you’re on your lunch hour, and need to get your food quickly. Otherwise, you might wait, and wait, and wait.

This restaurant is hard to get into, especially on a weekend night, and reservations are available only for parties of eight or more. Oh, how I have considered making a large reservation and showing up with just my family, lying that others cancelled on us last minute. The fun atmosphere, great beer, wine, and drink offerings, and one of my favorite local menus makes Figs that good. Service has consistently been great, and the varied menu appeals to all sorts of evenings out. I’ve enjoyed burgers with perfectly cooked french fries, entrees, and wood-fires pizzas… all exceptionally well done(prepared, not burned!). It’s a little crowded when busy, a little noisy, too, but that is part of the scene.

I’ve been here twice and have had a good experience both times. The first time was at night and it was extremely busy. Yesterday we went for lunch and it wasn’t busy. The eggplant fries are good. I had the chicken and crab over risotto. Very good. Nice atmosphere and the people are nice. Give it a try.

We normally LOVE Fig’s. Sadly tonight, not so much. Our take out order included a «side» salad instead of fries with my Newtonian Chicken sandwich. There was maybe 10 pieces of lettuce. And the roll was so stale it just fell completely apart when I tried to eat it.

The only reason I’m giving this place 3 stars instead of 4 is not because of the quality of the food. It was really great and we would go back again perhaps on a less busy night, but honestly there are just too many other good restaurants to go to that you don’t have to wait that long! 3 stars because we went on a Saturday evening with reservations and still waited over an hour while standing elbow to elbow with other people. There was no where to sit in the bar to hang out while waiting. Our dinner was delicious though so if you go during hours that are not prime time you will be happy!

Yesterday was my third time dining at Figs. We visited them for another weekday lunch. Their food is always interesting and they offer a variety of nice vegetarian options. I’ve ordered different menu items at each visit and I’ve enjoyed it all. Their small plates make a nice portion for lunch and then you’ll have room for dessert. They recently started offering complimentary refills on iced tea and soda so that was a great change! We’ve had fantastic service during each of our visits. We’ll be returning; we’re fans.

My friends have been telling me about Figs for months and last night, they finally brought me. When we got there, the hostess told us there was a 45 minute wait, but she took our phone number to send us a text when our table was ready. Yes, that’s a bit of a long wait, but it was Friday night and the text option was convenient. When we sat down I asked our server, Jordan, if I could taste a wine before choosing and he was nice enough to bring me a small pour. His service throughout the evening was on point. We sat at a table in the bar area which was surrounded by glass doors on two sides, facing out onto a pretty patio. My friends told me these doors are opened in the summer, which looks like it would be lovely. The menu was very diverse and had both tried and true favorites, like chicken parmesan and unique dishes, like an apple pizza. We ended up choosing three pizzas to share, which were all excellent. The chicken and pesto pizza with roasted tomatoes and fresh mozzarella was good, definitely comfort food for me. The pear tree pizza was an unexpected combination of pears, brie, bacon and honey mustard and it was fantastic. My favorite, though, was the savory apple pizza. I would never think to put apple on a pizza, but it certainly works in this case. The pizzas were also of a good size, so that between the three of us, we each had a slice of each pizza to take home. At my friends’ recommendation(and Jordan’s) I took home a slice of the peanut butter cheesecake. I didn’t expect anything too special, as I’ve had chocolate peanut butter cheesecakes before, but Figs was actually different. What I love about it is that while it definitely has the peanut butter flavor,(and the chocolate ganache on top) I can still taste the tang of cheesecake, which I normally don’t get when I order this elsewhere. I can’t wait to go back and try some more of the food at Figs. Great job to the kitchen staff and to Jordan!

I keep hoping they are going to get better but they’re mired in mediocrity. It’s been a year since we’d been there so we thought we’ve give them another shot. Here how it went: Drinks — good Salad — fair — got the seasonal harvest salad with squash, apples, walnuts, cheeses. It was a big plate of icy romaine with sparse cold squash and apple bits. I had to ask for extra dressing — there was very little on it and so little other pieces it was like eating a plate of wet ice cold romaine. The cold squash was unappealing also. Lobster crab ciabatta — ok — was supposed to be served with Old Bay fries and it came out with plain fries. I was clear when I ordered I wanted the Old Bay when the waiter offered sweet potato fries as an option. It was sent back to the kitchen and my wife ate alone until they brought it back with the seasoning 5 minutes later — by which time the fries were cold. The sandwich was as expected, nothing special. Salmon — good. My wife enjoyed her salmon mostly, but one end was overloaded with salty glaze and inedible. The restaurant wasn’t crowded on a Thursday night — it still took 40 minutes or so for us to get our entrees. I suspect the kitchen is too small. The salad was obviously pre-made and almost frozen. There’s better options in the area.

Came here for dinner last night with 3 other people on the recommendation of my sister who lives in town and had been here before. We sat in the bar area, comfortable seating. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed some craft beer. Fairly good selection. We shared 2 appetizers-a Quesadilla Special that was delicious and Guacamole with Plantains, also delicious. Complimentary bread, very nice. My husband and I shared 2 pizzas– the Potato Pie and a special, The Ugly Tomato. Both were very good, however they were not hot at all when served to us which was very disappointing since the menu boasted a 900 degree wood-fire oven. We asked the waiter to heat up one of the pizzas, but it really didn’t help. I’m sure they would have been much tastier if they had been served right from the oven. My sister had the Cheddar Apple Pastrami Grilled Cheese which she said was very good. She chose a salad for her side which was very large. Her husband had Lobster Macaroni and Cheese with a side Caesar Salad. He ate it all. They also shared a Brownie Sundae which quickly disappeared! The bathrooms are clean and I love the atmosphere. I will definitely try Figs again and hope for a piping hot pizza next time!

Its been an hour and ten minutes and we are still waiting for our food. The table next to us aent her steak back because it smelt like dog poop. The guys across from us could not eat their pizza because it was burnt so bad. Daughters pat thai was uneddible now that we were finally served. Where did they get that much chili pepper? Next table said that this place was really good a year ago but changed when they expanded. Too bad because it looks nice. Just dont eat here.

I tried Figs for the first time last week. I had tried going there a year ago, but the place was packed, and I dont like to wait too long for a table. There was no wait the weeknight I went. I ordered the burger. It was delicious. Cooked perfectly. Flavorful and juicy. My only complaint is they dont take reservations or call-ahead seating for parties under 8. I would expect a restaurant of this caliper to offer this service to its patrons.

My wife, another couple and I went to dinner here again on Saturday 01÷24÷15. We were seated promptly and the service was good throughout dinner. The waitress took our drink menu and started us off with strips of warm bread and olive oil. I ordered a dinner salad and meatloaf and my wife ordered the pear salad and the short ribs in a pomegranate sauce. The other couple had the same entrées. My dinner salad was good. The dressing was a vinaigrette and was tasty. My wife’s salad was good as well. Just when you were wondering where the entrées were they came out. My meatloaf was tasty and the portion size average. I could have used more sauce, and mashed potatoes. The vegetables were slivers of carrots and zucchini, kind of blah. At $ 17 I think it was over priced after all it’s meatloaf. My wife’s short ribs were extremely dry like they were either cooking for way too long or frozen and thawed out. It was over $ 20 for short ribs and not worth it. Every time I come here it gets worse and I expect better.

They do great pork chops for dinner and a lunch menu with perfect portions for lunches. I generally order the salad, or a burger or a pizza and always have some left over. I think they are a small family run establishment though I can never be sure. The waiting staff is always friendly and kind. I love them all. They have always been superb! They were busy all of the nights we went there and as well as have a great outdoor patio to sit in during the summer days when the weather is bright and sunny. If I could think of one thing to complain about, their quality of food is not consistent. Some nights it’s on, and some nights, it’s off!
