I honestly so sad! I love café rio! But i have never experienced such awful service! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else

Busy, dirty, employees are all angry, pork was burned and dry, no scanners for the mobile app and they even seemed angry at me for trying to use it. I will not be returning to this location. Been to café Rios across the country and this is by far the worst one Ive been to.

Please avoid this location. I’ve tried take-out(phone order) now twice at this location and both times they got my orders wrong. Last night my wife and I phoned in our orders and upon picking them up everything seemed correct that is until we arrived home(5 min) away and found our orders to be backwards. Not only that my pork salad was completely missing pork and the steak on my wife’s salad was cold(I remember it being hot but maybe that’s changed I don’t know). Do yourself a favor when your craving Café Rio in Sandy and go to the Midvale/Cottonwood Heights location — they at least act like they care about their customers.

Do yourself a favor and visit a different location. It’s clear to me that the management is the problem. Unmotivated employees. Lack of pride in cleanliness, food quality and customer service. Very unfortunate!

Man oh man has Café Rio gone downhill. Coming into this one after their pork burrito sounded just fantastic, I now have to promise myself that I won’t fall for that trick again. The line moved faster than usual this time and that was welcome, but when I ordered my burrito, I asked for the pork that drew me in. I proceeded to get steak instead. I said that I ordered pork and they opened up my burrito and said«Steak». Didn’t offer to remake it, or even an apology. Checking out was a nightmare too, they just assumed that I was spending $ 40 on all the food behind me and tried to ring me out for it. Again, don’t be too shocked, no apology. I finally get to eat and it’s fine per usual and then I notice the table is discolored. I wipe a napkin on it and it comes up black. Just black. Filthy. Café Rio as a whole has completely lost it and I will never go back to one.

My boyfriend I have been to this location several times, and each visit is worse than the last. The line cooks speak over you and are incredibly rude and dismissive. I understand it’s a busy place with many different orders being prepared at once, but the experience is completely unpersonable; you feel like you’re in trouble for even being there. The establishment itself is also filthy. When I used a clean napkin to wipe up a bit of water I’d spilled on the table, the napkin came up black. To make sure it wasn’t just the spot where I was sitting, my boyfriend wiped his spot with a dry napkin, which also came up black. Who knows the last time the tables have been washed. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Once again Café Rio proves they don’t care about customers. The people don’t listen to you as they make your order, if they make a mistake they treat you like crap when you ask them to fix it. The portions are getting smaller, their prices are going up and their attitude is crap. When I called to ask to a manager, I could barely understand what the assistant manager was saying, and he told me if I don’t like it I can call corporate and he hung up. I was a die hard Café Rio fan, but it seems they are trying to piss off their loyal fan base!

I would normally go directly to a business and keep it private, but these guys didn’t care when i did. Im pretty disappointed with this particular Café Rio. The sandy location is the closest to me. They mess up my order way to often. the last 3 to go orders have been ridiculously off. The very last time i went about a month ago to get my son who was home with the flu lunch. I ordered it running errands. I was in a hurry so i called it in. I made sure i was very thorough and repeated my order SEVERALTIMES. what i ordered was a sweet pork enchilada style burrito with the green mild sauce. What i got when i got home was an a burrito smothered in «cilantro ranch» with no enchilada sauce. WTF? Yes, i failed to double check it. my bad. but really is it MY responsibility to make sure my order is right or is it there’s to deliver the order i asked for? That is part of excellent customer service which i often do not receive at this café rio! I called the manager immediately i was so mad. My son was hungry and i had no time to return or fix him lunch as i was working. The manager who was a man, gets on the phone and tries to brush me off super quick, which i did not let him. i preceded to continue letting him know how unacceptable the service has been the last few times i went. i told him he needed to train his employees better and to have them LISTEN better, especially on to go orders because customers are in a hurry and are not WATCHING their order made. He still kept trying to brush me off, and was aggressively rude. He finally asked me what i wanted from him and i said be a better manager so your employees aren’t quitting all the time and you having to train people on the fly so your service isn’t so bad! He offered me a free meal since i was so mad, and said he would put my name on the board for one. and i said i will take the free meal since you do owe me better service. he quickly wanted to brush me off still and so i confirmed once again what he said and he said yeah no problem just stop by anytime. So today i was running errands finally had time to stop by and grab the meal owed to me. I called to make sure i could pick it up and the lady who was manager on duty today was hesitant. she asked if i had my receipt. I said im sorry i wasn’t asked to keep my receipt. had i known i needed it i would’ve kept it. my name wasn’t on a board. i was not given a a time limit either. since the service has been so bad that is why i double checked. but now i can see why, because the managers arent’ trained well either and don’t know their own procedures or how to talk to their customers as well as take care of them. they make your food as fast as they can and they rush you out. My cooking is better than theirs, i only go there because my kids like it once in awhile. honestly id rather drive to another further away. When i ordered i grabbed the manager and told her it was me that called to redeem my order. I thought it was rude of her to continue to tell me «I NEEDTOCHECKMYORDERSOTHISDOESN“T HAPPENAGAIN!» first of all no apology, no i hope we can make this right for you, sorry about the hassle. NOTHING. IT was my fault i didn’t check my order! I didn’t know it was MY responsibility to make sure YOUKNEW how to make your food! WOOOOW! i not only felt insulted as a customer, i definitely think that corporate has no idea how to run their chains and have customer service skills. BIGLACK on CAFERIO to attend to customers. YOU should have a sign saying«WEDON’T CAREIFOURCUSTOMERSAREHAPPY!» the truth is café rio is certainly not the best. speedy yeah, ill give them that. Speedy and sloppy! Here’s the thing, you can tell a lot about a business and UPPER management when their turn over is soooo high on employees that the inside customer service witht heir own team sucks and so if they can’t take care of their in house theres no possible way to take care of their CUSTOMERS! Its common business sense! Your employees are happy they are loyal and so are your customers! BIGTHUMBSDOWN! CAFERIO before opening up more stores… take care of the ones YOUHAVE already! Greedy freaks! mediocre service is not acceptable if your winning awards for good food, that doesn’t bypass the fact that customers are important. I attempted to contact them via email directly but there feedback is disabled. go figure! And they say they care what customers have to say. wow!

I’ve checked-in on Unilocal at this specific café Rio location three different times. I guess you’re wondering what keeps me coming back. Well, there are three primary reasons why we’ve been dining here. The first reason is, I enjoy the variety of flavored iced teas they offer. The second reason is, the kids quesadilla is free and the third reason is, I like the outdoor seating at this location. Now for the service and the food. There is usually a long line at dinner time and they are slow and somewhat disorganized. I find the orders are mixed up and you are under pressure to make a decision on your burrito ingredients. I find it hard to swallow the fact that they charge extra for«smothering» your burrito. If you want a side order of chips, the quantity is enormous, however, of the price is pretty steep too. In total, I think the food is average for a quick serve restaurant, QSR. I’ll patronize this restaurant again — but not my first choice. Salute!

STAYAWAY from this place. It had been hit and miss for the past year and wanted to try again today. The employees don’t listen to your order and when we reminded them that we didn’t want it «enchilda» style, they took the burrito and just shook out the contents into another tortilla(sauce and all). They do everything they can to make sure you automatically get your burritos«enchilada» style so they can make the extra $ 1.50. BAD service and food quality has gone down the drain.

I have to say, I have always enjoyed Café Rio’s salads and Burittos but today I ordered their nachos. It will be the last time I make that mistake. All they did was take chips put them in the foil bowl, sprinkle ‘some’ shredded cheese on, and add some chicken. There was no layering and when it came out of the oven it looked just like it did when it went in. Honestly the worst I have ever experienced.

I live in Washington and sadly, our Café Rio choices are super limited so while on a road trip, my husband and I just HAD to stop here for lunch because CR is normally one of our favorite stops. Sadly, as far as Café Rio’s go — this one was not my favorite. Line: Getting the food is kind of complicated. They really rush you in the beginning then it gets a little backed up so you’re not really sure who they’re talking to as you go down the line(not to mention, food gets cold while you wait to talk to the person doing the toppings). Food: — Chips and queso are one of my all time fav food combos and the queso here was too runny. Chips were okay — needed salt. — Chicken Enchilada w/beans(pinto) and rice: corn tortilla tasted stale, beans and rice under-cooked. Was luke warm at best. — Chicken tacos: these got an okay review from my lunch date — his fav part was the flour tortillas Cleanliness: so /so. A bunch of tables hadn’t been wiped down so seat selection was limited. They use a TON of cinnamon air freshener though in the bathrooms. The smell gets in the main part of the restaurant which is not what I want to be smelling when I am eating Mexican food

Why do I feel like a physically abused wife every time I patronize this place? It doesn’t matter whether the help is rude, the dish they prepare is sloppy or, like tonight, they tell me at 8:00 that grilled chicken will take 15 minutes if I want to wait. Black and blue, missing a tooth and flinching whenever I notice rapid movement from my periphery, I return again and again. But not nearly as often as I once did. Search«Mexican» with«current location» only 2 miles from this place and it doesn’t come up. That’s a good thing. This place is more Mexican’t than Mexican.

This place really seems to have gone downhill lately. The food is still pretty good, but not as fresh & great as it used to consistently be. The service is slower & less friendly, steak is lower quality, the restaurant is less clean … Overall it’s just lost its mojo. Seems like the management must’ve recently changed and they’re trying to cut corners. It really shows. I’ll probably still come back, but it’s gone from 4.5 stars to 2.5 stars in my mind.

DON’T ORDERONLINE and watch your food so it doesn’t get mixed up. The last 5 online orders have come home all WRONG, further we stood in line for about 30 minutes waiting for them(after waiting 45 minutes at home!). When I actually went in and stood inline they had one cashier for a huge huge line of people and all of the burritos got mixed up. I give Café Rio 4 stars on taste-really their food and flavor a are amazing!, Zero stars on their capability to read printed to-go orders, and 2 stars on service because they mix up orders. I’ve learned my lesson. UNLESS I go in the restaurant and watch it closely as its prepared I can guarantee my food will get messed up somehow. Guaranteed! Try the pork salad, pork burrito enchilada style, & tree leches cake you won’t be disappointed –in flavor that is.

Unfortunately, when we came they were out of medium sauce, mild sauce, and their special Fideo. It was also disappointing because they skimped on the meat and sauces for both of our meals. When we tried asking for chips and guacamole, the manager ignored us and we had to repeat it three times. He only filled up our tub halfway and naturally, we asked for a little bit more but he refused and said that it would be extra. Shoddy customer service.
