The only reason I come here is because my friends work at PA Networks and it is close to their work. The sashimi is not that great. The teryaki chicken is good, you at least can see that it is actually chicken as compared to some other spots. The wait is usually very long and the service is OK. If the fish were more fresh I’d give it more stars. Also very small and quite expensive for what you get.

I’ve never had such a horrible experience at a sushi restaurant before. First off its called sushi express but don’t expect it to be express. As I was trying to order the waitress was telling me everything I wanted to order will take 30 minutes. I wanted the seafood udon and tako sunomono. I don’t understand how it could take 30 minutes to cut up cucumbers and add vinegar with octopus but sure. I ended up ordering tako nigri and the rice was in a ball shape. I also got the dragon roll which was not good. The only reason I ate it was because I was starving. The waitress was rude and disrespectful. Wish I could get my time and money back.

Zero stars if I could… This place is horrible! They should change their name to super-slow sushi, it is NO express for sure. The chubby waitress with her up in bun had zero personality or customer service skills, period. We ordered two bento boxes and my other friend wanted to order seafood udon, but the waitress told her it would take a «very long time» to make and discourage her to get it, same with her next choice– tako sunomono, she said would be long too… so she ended up ordering tako nigiri and dragon rolls… which we thought would be faster. Nope! We waited for over 35 mins, we were almost ready to cancel our orders and walk out, but finally our food arrived. Seriously. We sat the entire time watching 1 sushi chef and 1 cook prep food in this entire restaurant at lunch hour. Ridiculous! I’ve been to smaller places that are better staffed than this! Overall — bad experience, customer service stinks, the food was mediocre at best, sashimi did not look fresh, and definitely not worth high prices! Definitely would not come back. Ever.

The service quality is pretty bad, the most of waiting time spending on is waiting for them to figure out things.

Was in town for copa America and needed a quick bite. Went in and there was def a weird vibe. Ordered– Donkatsu bento box that came on a small plate not bento box. I’ve never seen that first time for everything Edamame beans And poki salad with assorted fish. Here’s why for the two stars– Service was already below par. Whatever I don’t care. But they brought my mans food out and i told him to eat bc I was still on the edamame beans. I was still waiting for my food. They bring out my food when my man was done with his meal. And he’s a slow ass eater. So he had to wait for me. All in all, what we ordered wasn’t that bad. The donkatsu was such a small portion and on a plate. Ok I guess. Poki salad was good but I wouldn’t wait for it again. And the service def DOESNOT keep me coming back. Chef is awesome though bc of the poki salad.

This place has good tasting sushi. I ordered three rolls. The Dancing Ebi was delicious and would come back just to get it again. The place is pretty small and the dining tables are close together but I got a corner booth so it was really comfortable. I enjoyed my experience here.

Always Fresh and delicious, it’s close to home for us so it’s our main sushi joint. Some of my favorites are the seaweed salad, white mountain roll and the small America roll.

A group of us from work took a walk and decided to try Sushi Express for lunch. It is a small establishment(like the other restaurants in this strip of small places) and at first we thought that our group of 7 could not be accommodated. However, the hostess/waitress said that we could be seated in 5 to 10 minutes, so we decided to give it a try. She was able to seat 4 of us within 5 minutes, but the people at the table next to this table(which she was likely planning to be included with our group) was eating slower then she planned. So, she seated 3 of us at the sushi bar and said we can move to be with the rest of our group when the other table became available. This was OK with us. Halfway through our miso soup, the other table was free and she quickly prepared it and we moved to be with the rest of our group. I felt that this was good service, trying to accommodate the needs of customers, even though it was a very busy time with a full restaurant. Everyone in our group was pleased with the food. The individual sushi prices seem high, but the lunch specials are reasonably priced for what you get. I had the Lunch Bento Box(with choice of 1 meat and two items for $ 13.95). This is served with miso soup first, then the bento box is delivered containing the meat item(choice of chicken/beefsalmon teriyaki, or grilled mackerel) and the side items(choice of 2: Tempura, Gyoza, Egg Roll, Kappa Maki(cucumber maki sushi), Sashimi(4 assorted small pieces of sashimi), avocado roll, California roll). Additionally it comes with a bowl of rice and a salad. I chose the Salmon Teriyaki, Sashimi, and California Roll. It was all very tasty. The salmon was nicely cooked and very moist with just the right amount of teriyaki. The sashimi pieces were small, but good. The California roll was ordinary. The service was quick, once we were seated, and the food was delivered promptly. This is a good place for lunch and I recommend it.

Not too shabby. Came in for a lunch with two others. I wasn’t as hungry so I ordered one roll(Caterpillar Roll) and the others ordered Bento Boxes with Chicken Teriyaki and all the typical sides. The food was very good for the most part. My roll had good flavor, maybe a tab bit too much rice. My lunch mates enjoyed their Bento Box. I tried the chicken and it was very tasty. Loved the char, making it crispy. For dessert we had the deep fried ice green tea ice cream. Also pretty good. The service was a bit odd. We didn’t really get checked up on and they seemed annoyed when we ordered dessert. Prices were pretty typical for lunch. I would probably come back.

Korean mom and pop shop. Mom and daughter were waitresses, dad was chef with 1 sous-chef. Company cafeteria closed early since I was too busy at work, I ran across street hoping for a quick transaction so that I can go back to work. It is called Sushi-Express after all. I ordered take-out chirashi, thinking it would not take too long. Well, it took over 10 minutes to get my order and the people behind me got their orders first… Only 1 chef(husband) making the food, the sous-chef’s shift probably ended. Food: Fish was not that fresh at all and everything except the salmon had a sour/fishy taste. Mitsuwa supermarket has better quality sashimi grade fish. Salmon was decent but not as creamy as I would have liked. Rice was dry and hard, either old rice or was not prepared properly. Miso soup was well flavored and not too salty. Seaweed salad was good but a tad bit too sweet. Salad dressing was ok but had a lot of iceberg lettuce chunks with discoloration which is a sign of old age.

My first time and last time I will be eating here. Why? The service was horrible. 1. Didn’t asked us if we needed a booster sit(we have a 1 year old baby with us) when we asked for it the old waitress give us a weird looks. Make me feel like I’m bothering her. 2. Didn’t bother to asked if we needed a spoon and a small bowl for our kid. We asked for it and the old waitress pionted to the table and say you have a plate. i then told her the bowl is for feeding my baby. She says no bowl. Then she just me me a small spoon. 3. I asked to keep the menu so I can other more food later the old waitress rolled her eyes at me. 4. The California rolls was a disappointment. It only have a pice of avocado and imitation crab. 5. The teriyaki chicken still raw. Lucky my husband saw that and we stop feeding it to our baby. He only eta 1 or 2 pieces. Hopefully nothing will happen to my baby. 5. The table was sticky so we have to used baby wipe to wipe it. So in general we didn’t have a good dinner. We left without tip. We will never come back to a place that have no hospitality and not a kid friendly place.

Their Miso Soup has alot flavor and their bbq short ribs was amazing. Only flaw to that is that they don’t serve you a big portion. . It’s unique and has a very homey feeling with the decorations on the sushi bar. I liked that it was close to the hotel I was staying at. It was an easy walking distance. I rate it an 3 because the hostess was just standing there. She brung us soup but forgot to bring us a spoon for it. Not only that she forget to refill my water and didn’t give us a straw. Probably never going back. I felt like their service could’ve been better.

This was the most disappointing sushi experience I’ve ever had. The waitresses were not friendly whatsoever and the sushi was a huge waste of money. I had a California roll which was just a chunk of brown avocado and a huge price of imitation crab. I also had a shrimp tempura roll which was fishy and the shrimp was dry. Save your money!

I’ve eaten here 3 times this week so I thought it’d be nice to write a review. This is for their takeout only since I’ve never sat down here and ate. Sushi Express is a Korean owned sushi restaurant located along Great America Parkway. The prices are a little higher than some other places, but it’s understandable since they’re nearby all the tech companies and Levi’s Stadium. Their sushi is mediocre; it’s not horrible but I’ve definitely had better. I usually get their hamachi or salmon sashimi and the fish doesn’t taste fresh. The salmon sashimi still tastes pretty good but their hamachi is lacking flavor. The rice that comes with the sashimi combo is usually really dry so I’m assuming they gave me old rice. I’ve only gotten new rice once. Their rolls are nothing special. I can never finish them because they get sickening real quickly. I only come here because I work across the street, otherwise I wouldn’t go out of my way to get sushi here.

I like restaurants that offers daily specials and Gombei offers this. The setting is more of a Japanese family– style restaurant conveniently located in Santa Clara The meals are all reasonably priced, ingredients fresh and portion plentiful. They don’t take reservations and no official waiting list. It’s based on first-come, first-serve honor system.

This place has decent sushi when it comes to someone craving it. When it comes to their customer service they are HORRIBLE. I suggest you find a better place than this because these people did NOT acknowledge the fact we were waiting. Did not come up to us to tell us to hold on a couple of minutes and take FOREVER to take our orders!

I’ve been here a couple of times. The food is mediocre. Nothing amazing, but there has been times where I am not too please with their service. They seems to be grumpy at times… I don’t know why. I just come here since it is close to my workplace. Warning: Their raw fish isn’t too fresh, go for their cooked or non-raw fish rolls instead. I always think that they’ll get better or I’m too lazy to drive far from work… my mistake.

Came here last week with my boyfriend since we were on a trip to Santa Clara and staying nearby at the Marriott, which was within walking distance luckily. I got the chicken katsu curry and the RockCal roll which tasted great! I loved the tempura flakes on the sushi. My bf got the teri chicken & tempura bento box, which he said was ok, but the chicken was a little dry. Prices were reasonable for a sit-down restaurant. They had a wide variety of sushi too. I’m knocking down 2 stars for their very poor service. There were about 5 other tables with customers and the 2 servers hardly came by. One table nearby us was still waiting for food which they might’ve forgot. Another table was stuck looking at the menu forever. Thankfully we got our food quickly, but had to wait long for a water refill. The younger server was just looking through a receipt book at the register. Then she went to straighten up a tall stack of menus one by one. The older server was stocking the fridge and putting cups on shelves in the back. All the customers were left waiting. If I ever was in the area, I’d only get take-out from here since the service was horrible.

Everything but. I’m not sure if it was the crowd on xmas eve eve lunch, but it was slow slow. I sat down at 1pm, ordered, and I did not get my hand roll(scallop, spicy) and my whatever-roll until 1:25pm. I thought that was way too long and abnormal for the valley. The hand roll was all right, and the roll had plenty of avocado, shrimps, and mayo, so it went down easy. Issuing the bill and getting it signed off, also took a long time. Took a good 10 minutes. Place is very small and there is very little parking. I can see why it would be jammed and tough to find a spot to park during peak lunchtime. My verdict: The name«sushi express»(at least this week) is a mis-nomer. I’ll have to come back again to see if it was really a season-to-be-slow thing… I’ll give them the benefit of doubt this time.
