Went on a Sat night and place was kinda packed but we were seated right away. They gave us small bowl of edamame and miso soup(yay! Free stuff!) They have A LOT of rolls in their menu, a bit overwhelming. We ordered the sushi Blvd roll, Esther roll and California roll. The California roll had more crab meat than usual, which was nice, but the rice was a bit on the mushy side making it really soft. Both of the rolls that we got are decent in size and flavor. It seems like they aren’t too stingy with the meat. I was skeptical trying out this place since a lot of the reviews said that they were horrible but it wasn’t too bad. I can see why some people might say it’s bad, one of the waitress seems like she’s rushing and took our water before we were even ready to leave. It didn’t really bother us that much, since it was near closing time so they probably just want to get out. Overall decent sushi and price(especially with groupon)

This is my favorite sushi place. I love the happy hour special. The food is fresh and tasty. The price is reasonable. However, the place is small and sometimes we have to wait a little to get a table. My husband and I love the sushi for 2 dinner(8 pairs of sushi, 2 sushi rolls, and 8 pieces of sashimi plus salad, soup and ice cream) with Sapporo beer, best combination ever. Highly recommend.

Really good food, cute shop, friendly and helpful staff. I really love it. And there’s not a whole lot of restaurants I like in this area. I’m happy there’s such a nice place! They have a huge selection of rolls that are all really yummy and pretty pictures of almost all of them.

No real complaints about the sushi. We had the dragon roll, mammamiya roll, randy special, spicy tuna, mike’s roll, unagi roll, and salmon & habachi roll. All well made with fresh fish. Decent portions. This is really a solid 4-star place for the food. The interesting part is the service. We came here on a Tuesday evening and there were 2 sushi chefs working and one waitress. The waitress was presumably the owner, but she was mad busy trying to take orders, deliver food, and take care of requests. She just pointed to a bin by the cash register when we asked for napkins and chopsticks having us get them ourselves… She also had us carry our menus when she led us to our table. I wasn’t particularly in a rush with my group so we didn’t really care, but definitely not the place to take a date. The food did come super fast with 2 sushi chefs working though so that’s a plus! But for reals, she needs to hire a second person to help take orders or at least deliver food and clean tables around peak times. I can’t imagine what it must be like on the weekends. Try and snag one of the groupons if they’re still available for this place! I think it’s $ 25 for $ 50 worth of food! They also have happy hour from 5−7pm, I believe, for 20% off sushi rolls and 50% off beer and sake. Just going off my memory so you may have to call to confirm or check their website.

I’ve been to lunch here a couple of times with my coworker when I am working in this area. The sushi is okay at best(2.5 stars), there’s a little too much rice for me personally but the taste is edible. The service has been horrible recently… stinky attitude makes a place like this go into the dump. It’s always empty for a reason.

I am a regular at sushi blvd and I had the WORST experience today by a waitress named Jessica. I had asked her for salt and she said«there’s enough» and didn’t want to bring it. I checked Into Unilocal for a free drink and she refused to give it to us. She had a lot of attitude and we decided to leave the restaurant due to her attitude and we didn’t want her to spit in our food, as she was telling the cooks about us. After we tried leaving, she said we had to pay for the order that had not even been made yet and she told us we can’t leave and was yelling at us in front of everyone. Before this, we had another bad experience with a waitress. I decided not to tip due to bad service and attitude, and she ran out to my car and demanded I give her a tip. The sushi is decent but I will not be coming here again due to the multiple bad experiences with the workers.

Came here because of a Groupon deal and wasn’t expecting much of it. I was right not to. The restaurant was in a small strange plaza. Came in and it was pretty empty at the time for dinner. Was seated right away. The waiter here accepted my Groupon deal but did not accept my check in offer for the 1 free drink. Told me to use it next time. I didn’t know Groupon couldn’t be combined with Unilocal check in offers. My boyfriend and I got the Esther Roll, Sushi Blvd, Danny’s Roll, and the Lion King. It took kind of long for the sushi rolls to come out even though there was only 1 table there. But, the fish here did not taste fresh whatsoever. The rice was kinda of weird and did not stick to the sushi rolls very well. Once we picked up the sushi, everything fell apart. Don’t get me wrong, the sushi was ok. We got the miso soup with the order but it was basically half full. I didn’t really like any of the rolls. After a while, a couple of more customers came in but there was only 1 waiter serving about 6 tables. It took a while to get her attention to get a check. I don’t think I’ll be coming here again.

Came here on a Friday evening, ~7pm. Was a bit empty for a Friday evening. Ordered 3 rolls, Dragon, Hana, and Hamachi. Dragon and Hamachi came out first, although it took a while. About 10 minutes later, Hana roll came. I can’t understand why they don’t serve it all together. And for a not-so busy place, it took a bit long for the rolls to come out. The Dragon and Hamachi rolls were very small size. And worst of all, it was poorly rolled. Meaning that as soon as I picked it up with my chopsticks, it fell apart! The Hana roll was better. There are 2 wait staff working, not very nice. They gave miso soup with the order. But the bowl was less than half full. WHY!!! I have been coming here for years because I used to work near by, but maybe they changed ownership? Stay away!

I am dropping a few stars due to the continued rude and annoying customer service I have received while at the restaurant and while picking up a to-go order. Don’t get me wrong, the sushi is good and I love to give my money and time to smaller restaurants to help them stay alive in this corporate driven society. However, the waitress/cashier has been so mean and rude the last few times that I am no longer going to spend my money and time at Sushi Blvd. The few last times I ate at the restaurant, the waitress did not refill our drinks(after we asked three times) and brought us our check after my last refill request. Honestly, I waited a few minutes between each request and 15 mins later was given my check. There was four tables being served too. I was not sure what the rush was but we were all serve our checks at the same time. My last time ordering from this restaurant is now my last. I placed an order online(which is really easy and convenient). The order confirmation said my order would be ready in 20 mins. I placed my order at 3:37. I received a phone call from the restaurant at 3:55 asking me if I was going to pick up my order. The woman said she needed to close out her register for lunch and wanted my credit card over the phone. I told her I was almost there and she hung up on me. I got there at 4:02. While I was paying for the food the woman repeated herself, FOUR times, that she was not able to close her lunch register because of me. SERIOUSLY! I was annoyed after she scolded me the first two times for picking up my food after her lunch register was shut down but four times, give me a break. I finally told her, «I understood you the first time and you should not allow people to order online if you need to switch registers between lunch and dinner.» She just glared at me with a dirty look. Sorry for the rant but I hate terrible employees who are rude and inconsiderate. I am a very generous Unilocaler and very rarely give 1 or 2 stars. However, I must be honest to my Unilocal friends and tell you to find another small sushi joint to visit. For example, I recommend Happy Sushi(on El Camino) which has better tasting fish and great customer service.

This place is alright, The sushi was really good. The quality was pretty good. I think the service coulda been better. They have pretty good dessert here. The Alaskan roll is pretty good. They name a lot of rolls after people. The restroom is really clean.

Sushi Blvd is so worth it! You really get a lot for what you pay for & the food quality & taste is amazing. ~I will say the only negative is that this hole in the wall is nestled on the left side of a super ghetto shopping strip in Sunnyvale. There are barely any street lights and it is not uncommon to see random hooded characters scattering from car to car~ Back to Sushi Blvd itself… *Great service, super friendly staff *So much variety of sushi rolls! & they were not overly packed with tons of rice *Reasonable prices *Big screen TV *Clean restaurant *Miso soup was NOT overly salty *Bento boxes are HUGE! They come with two main dishes, rice, potato pancake, orange, tempura, salad, miso, etc. Lastly, I know this is random… but their bento box comes with 2 shrimp tempuras, not just one! AND they have asparagus tempura! So unique and delicious. I definitely will be back to experience their HAPPYHOUR!

Meh. That’s all I can say for this place. This is a hilarious story. You must read! Soooo the place advertises 9:30 as the closing time. We arrived to a dead looking shopping center at 9 on the dot. We finally spotted a dimly lit restaurant with the open sign turned off. So I call the restaurant, «what time do you close?» «9:30» the lady replies. Sweet! Its only 9 I say to myself and we walk inside. Right away they say«we closed!!!» I laugh and say, «wow really? I just got off the phone with someone that said you close at 9:30». They look pisssed and then they start yelling back and forth in Vietnamese. Like they are deciding whether to serve us or not. Whatever, I was hungry and I was about to put up with this horrible customer service, until the waitress Vi tossed our menus on the table with no greeting. She then said, «ok, you order fast.» and walked away… Just… So so much no! I seriously got up and left. Horrible horrible horrible. But heeyyy I’m a reasonable gal! I came back in the daytime because I don’t let one crew, or one lady represent the whole restaurant. Thats not fair. So I came back and gave it a second try. The food was meh. The service was meh. I will not be coming back ever. ever. again.

Went there recently due to the Groupon that we bought. They took so long to take our order. One the order was placed it took forever to bring the food. We order bento box $ 17and Shrip roll and spicy tuna roll. $ 16. They forgot to give half the Order and brought is the bill. We were shocked and the lady was like oh we forgot. After 25 mins she got us the food. It took us 15 mins to eat but 2 hours for the whole dining due to their lateness. The quality of the tuna roll and shrimp roll combined in one placed was that. It wasn’t worth for the price and the food Quality was ok ok. We have gone to way better sushi places. Will not go again

With few options in a still-developing area of Sunnyvale, I was led to Sushi Blvd on a sunny weekday afternoon in August. Sushi Blvd is located in a cramped and most strangely arranged plaza that is almost as crusty and suspicious as the rice used in its rolls. As per others’ reviews and the identical menu, Sushi Blvd used to be TGI Sushi(one of my current favorite sushi joints). Needless to say, my expectations were duly quashed by my meal here. I came in with a friend to an empty dining room during lunch hour. We ordered Salmon Lover, Peter’s Special, and Kevin’s Special. The fish and the tempura shrimp and the various fresh items used in the rolls were plenty and delicious. What we found fault with, however, was the crazy crusty and dry rice and chewy nori used to wrap the rolls. Maybe it was an off day, or they were trying to make their rice and nori last longer than it should have. Anyways, it wasn’t good. When a sushi craving hits in Sunnyvale, do yourself a favor and don’t stop here.

Sushi Blvd is not located on a glitzy boulevard of Asian restaurants in Sunnyvale. It is in a low rent shopping center alongside a few shady establishments catering to the locals on the rough side of town. A place where you want to be able to see your car while you eat! Now despite it’s location, this can be the place for a first date or a hot date. Depends on whether the date is into Sushi, as hole in the wall appearances can be deceiving –remember the old saying you can’t tell a book by its cover! I would not have known of the place, if not for the Groupon coupon, as it is on the boondocks side of the railroad tracks. The Groupon coupon costs $ 15, and allows $ 25 worth of purchases. However, it may not be combined with the weekday 430pm-7pm 20% off sushi rolls and 50% off beer. So don’t bring in the coupon expecting a double dipping, get turned down, and whine about it in your reviews. The wife and I drop in on a Saturday at 630pm with a Groupon coupon, and all the tables are filled, with about 26 people seated. We sit at the bar, with a view of the NBA game on the overhead TV. A Samurai warrior design is on a drape, covering the entrance to the very clean restrooms, to remind you that this is more than a sports bar, but a sushi bar. We each order our entrees, with the standard miso soup and small side salad coming promptly. The miso soup has small bits of tofu floating on the bottom –small enough to drink straight down with the soup –don’t want to mess around with the chopsticks trying to get a hold of them! . Now the entrees take a good 20 minutes to prepare, while we have that starving look with tongues hanging out like a dog, watching the neighbors eat their delicious looking sushi. The wife gets the $ 1910 piece assorted sushi, while I get the $ 17 bento box of salmon and beef. The wife is an old hand at sushi, and knows how to lather on the ginger and musabi, onto the rice cakes with fish on top. Raw salmon, eel, shrimp, tuna, and various white fish adorn the delicate mounds of rice. I’m not a true sushi fan, and the only raw fish I like on my sushi is crab, so the wife is on her own to eat this meal –no having hubby eat what you don’t like this time! The $ 17 bento box comes with an assortment of salmon teriyaki, beef teriyaki, a potato paddy, 2 shrimp tempura, and 6 vegetable tempura. Sliced melon, orange, and a potsticker round out the serving. The 3 ounce salmon not of sushi quality, but tastes OK for a frozen farmed raised salmon, drenched in sweet teriyaki sauce. The beef is a large serving and tender. The tempura are cooked just right –not too mushy, and just crunchy enough. Fried food –diabetes in a box! The wife’s dish is too small, and she finishes that and eats my salmon teriyaki. I can’t remember this happening before, as it is always me who finishes first, and eats her leftovers! Service is spotty, with 2 ladies on duty for cleaning, taking orders, and removing dirty dishes –only after you are all done. We return on a Friday at 545pm to find only 3 of the 8 tables filled with couples. Weekdays 430−7pm 20% off sushi, and 50% off beer. Now since I don’t drink beer, you know why we are here. The menu is both in English with descriptions, and in pictures –for those who want a picture of their food before they order. Some 60 bright colorful pictures of different sushi rolls, many with names made up to match their description. And yes, there is a 49er roll, and a Sunday football roll! My wife tries the $ 4 hot sake served in whiskey shot glass –it would be a waste to try it on me, as I don’t drink alcohol, except mild margaretas. The miso soup is flavorful with tofu and spinach swirling around. First to arrive is the $ 14 ‘Brian roll’ and shrimp tempura with 7 types of raw fish, salmon, and yellow tail tuna. That’s for the wife. Next comes the $ 11 ‘shrimp lovers’ roll, shrimp inside and out, avocado, with tobiko, Very tasty, especially as the shrimp is cooked, with fresh ingredients. Last to arrive, after some 20 minutes after ordering is the $ 12 ‘Lion J’ with baked salmon and spicy mayo, covering shrimp. Superb dish, with cooked fish –not a real sushi dish my wife would say! Both sushi dishes I tried had a tendency to fall apart once picked up –need a knife and fork to eat sushi?! Or else eat like my cat, Big Bubba, and scarf it up in pieces, with mouth to the plate! We get out of there for $ 40 after tip, tax, and the 20% sushi roll discount. This time service is excellent. Both the waitress and the bartender bow to me on my way out! Apparently they know a restaurant reviewer when they see one, with camera on my neck, and all but the words ‘yelp elite reviewer’ written on my forehead! My 1998 Honda Civic sedan, one of the most stolen vehicles in America, in the land of low riders, is still there!
