Knowledgeable staff. Reasonable prices. Good selection. If that’s what you want, that’s what you get.

I grew up here. This place helped form my idea of what an independent small business looks like. It has character, fewer straight lines, it looks and smells and feels lived in, it bears the foot and hand worn paths of the feet and hands that have worn them rather than the predetermined, sterile routes of maximum commercial efficiency. The value of the business is between its owner’s and employees’ ears as much as it is on its shelves. If Yoda were a cinemaphile, this would be his video store. Please stay open, Video Library. You are one of the best things still left alive in my old home town.

It’s a cultural experience, folks, and they know you by name at the Video Library. Nothing perks me up more than strolling in, chatting in line, and strolling on out. Okay, maybe some things do perk me up more… but in all seriousness, the staff is kind, compassionate, and fun. At Video Library, they care. They deeply care. As for the movies, yeah, you know. You could go to Netflix or Hulu or wherever wherever, but then you’d be missing the cultural experience! Go local, Santa Fe! Don’t let this one phase out. Ample parking and an abundance of smiles. Oh, and to the reviewer who called out the owner by name… she is so the opposite of a b***h! Sorry you brought your movies in super late and got reprimanded, but I highly doubt she yelled… especially if she knew you were caring for a dying friend. I’m sure the VL gang is glad you never returned… and we patrons are, too.

We’ve been customers of this store for decades and it has never disappointed us. The owner and staff are friendly, laid back and knowledgeable. The selection is sophisticated, current, and classic. The ambiance of the store is very pleasant, with interesting music playing and a super dog friendly attitude.

The owner, Linda Harris, yelled at me for bringing movies back in different cases and being late after I had spent two weeks taking acre of a dying friend. I wouldn’t care about late fees except she was such a bitch about it. I used to give them a ton of business, but based on her shitty attitude I will just rent from Netflix and Itunes.

So far, so great. We just moved to Santa Fe from San Francisco, where most of the video stores are closing. Before we came I researched to see if there was one here. Not only is there a video store here but a seemingly great one. They have been in business for 33 years and are hanging in there in spite of Netflix and on-demand video probably because of their selection and staff, not to mention that they are less expensive than on-demand. I will be a regular here for as long as they are around which I hope is for many years to come.

Where can you rent a zombie movie, Casablanca and the latest in pop culture teen horror romance slasher comedy flicks? That’s right, it isn’t Blockbuster. We both know that when you walk into a Blockbuster you’re thinking, will they have it, and what will I get if they don’t?! Well, if you live, or are visiting Santa Fe, your woes are over! The Video Library is independant video rental stores, which like my favorite book stores, is as varied as it gets. They have almost every movie I can name off the top of my head and the staff is really good about helping you expand your knowledge. They are super knowledgeable about all movies and are really friendly when making suggestions. Also, they aren’t afraid to warn you that a movie might really suck. They won’t tell you not to rent it, but before you do, they’ll tell you the downfalls. Video Library looses one star for archaic filing. There is no computer database for either the movies or the members. It’s all written down on little pieces of paper which the staff members constantly loose or misplace. For some it may be quirky and cute, an old fashioned rebellion against the dangers of the techno era. For me? I think they could use a little bit of a program I like to call excel.
