Love this place! It is close to my house, always open late, and the food is old school great tacos. The chicken tacos are my favorite, but wife digs their chicken burritos. We usually call in our orders and just pick them up but they have a very casual place to eat your food inside as well, although I don’t think i would go there on a date. LOL

It’s difficult to find this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant because there is no signage with their name. I had to ask two people across the street if they knew where to find this place. This place is located right in between Urth Coffee or Groundworks coffee or something and Bike Attack. Directly above the door is a real color wall without signage. Unilocal says they open at 11am but at 10:30am they were open and my food was ready to go not too long after ordering. Delicious and fresh, definitely something I would come back for!

My original rating gave this place 4 stars. After a couple of years of eating here and trying the tamales today, I have to update to 5 stars! Considering tamales are our favorite, I’m not sure why I had never ordered them before now. Delicious! Not too dry; not too moist. The veggie ones were just as, if not more, delicious than the chicken ones. On top of the food, the service is sweet. Local heroes.

This is a great spot! Its quick and delicious. I am a big fan of their burritos, the al pastor is my favorite. Its the perfect combination of flavors and has balance between the meat/rice/lettace/etc ratio. The staff is lovely as well. It knocks it out of the park.

Food is bland and lacks flavor. Fish tacos are good but dry due to no sauce to liven them up, unless you would like to use the house chip’s salsa or sriracha. Carne asada tacos are also lack luster… If I wanted mediocre tacos I’d stay in Las Vegas.

This place doesn’t have a sign we pretty much walked straight past it and had to come back to find it. The place is very small, so if you’re going with a lot of people you will not likely be able to fit, it’s not very comfortable. The menu is very simple with a smaller menu than most other Mexican places but they have your basic dishes like burritos and tacos. I think the prices are decent here around $ 7 for a burrito. They took longer than expected to make the burritos even though there weren’t that many people there. I had the carnitas burrito, it tasted like your typical burrito and I thought it was fine. I’d probably come back if it was convenient to come back and I wanted something quick and cheap to eat. Since it’s far from where I live, there are other Mexican places I prefer that are nearby and just as cheap.

Refreshingly straightforward. I ordered the veggie taco, no cheese, and one was enough to fill my tank. Next time I’ll request no chips, cause I tend to overeat greasy chippy things if they’re in front of me. Cheap, and you can get as many pickled carrots as you want ;). I do wish they used non-GMO tortillas, but that’s just me living in a fantasy world! Yummy.

I have eaten at Holy Guacamole at least 1 – 2 time a week for the last decade and cannot express in words how much I love this place. With all of the gentrification and wankery going on around, they have managed to remain true to the words you’ll see in neon on the window: «OPENTACOS.» The food is good, simple and tasty. Great for vegetarians and carnivores. You can’t go wrong with Holy Guacamole, and I hope that I can enjoy at least another 10 years of deliciousness before either they or I am forced out of the ‘hood.

Bean. And. Cheese. Burrito. I’ll eat it for breakfast, late snack, midnight dinner, supper, late lunch, early dinner, brunch, whatever. I don’t care — any way, any how, I’ll eat this delicious meal. I’ve tried other stuff here, and they don’t even come close to the BACB. It’s cheap, it’s tasty, and it fills my belly up. Plus they give you chips & salsa while you wait. Holy G is simple and not fussy. I like that. It feels like a little whole in the wall but all the employees are super friendly and the place is clean. Parking can be challenging if you’re driving there, and they don’t have a bathroom. Other than that — Bean and Cheese Burrito, baby.

I used to LOVE his place but the service this time was awful. They refused to give chips with a breakfast burrito. I literally just have to refund my entire order because they wouldn’t give a few chips on the side of a breakfast burrito even though I added guac. Where in LA do they not give a few chips with a $ 10 burrito? And the way they handled it was so insulting. Never going back.

Main Street in Santa Monica has many sit down restaurants. However, if you want something fast without all the greasy mess, try Holy Guacamole. Right in the middle of Main Street is a hole in the wall Mexican place that’s pretty bare bones. This place serves food that you can eat with your hands. The menu is pretty simple, tacos, burritos and tamales. You can get the tacos and burritos with any meat you want: chicken, beef, pork, fish or even vegetarian. The tamales are either vegetarian or chicken. They also have side orders of beans, rice, chips, guacamole and salsa. The beans and rice are supposed to be fat and animal free, which is a surprise because both are very, very tasty. Every meal comes with chips and salsa, with your choice of green or red. They’ll ask you which you prefer, but if you ask for both, they will certainly give you one of each. The red salsa is better, but both are very good. If you get a table at the counter you can even watch them make the salsa which is home made, not out of a can or bottle. They also have an assortment of hot sauces to try out. As a free side, they have a container of pickled carrots and jalapeños to add to your meal. The tacos are very good, but the burritos are fantastic. The burrito will be more than enough food or two tacos will fill you up. The food here is very good and not greasy like your typical fast Mexican food. It’s a great quick meal before you head out to the beach of before a stroll along Main Street.

One of the worst burritos I’ve ever had.(Sucks, too, ‘cuz I was chatting with the cashier dude, and he was krazy nice. Plus, this joint is open late.) Sitch: Got the Cali Breakfast Burrito and it had maybe two small — I mean they were tiny — strips of bacon with practically zero quac plus undercooked-almost-raw hash browns. Thing had maybe one egg inside, but it was more like half an egg. The chef also added way too much sour cream — and this from someone who LOVES sour cream. Worst Part: There were so many big nasty chunks of ghetto white onions in this thing that it was literally impossible to eat. Big chunks o’ the nasty B.O. bits in the salsa as well. Princess Fact: White onions are tacky and taste terrible. Plus, they make you feel and smell like the grossest person in the world after consuming. Red onions or shallots, people. So simple. Really. Tacos Por Favor is just down the road… why didn’t I just keep walking?! Grrrrr.

Love his place. It’s kind of a hole in the wall, you technically can’t order and have them bring your food to the table, but the food itself is delicious and plentiful. I usually get the chicken burrito with guac and always have leftovers for later(mmmmmm). The hubs looooves the tacos too. It’s not gourmet food, y’all, but for what it is, it’s delish.

I’m a sucker for some greasy, Mexican food. Holy Guacamole never disappoints me. I’ve really only gotten their quesadilla… but it’s so delicious. The cheese is perfectly melted, and the chicken was tender without any toughness. The staff is insanely nice. The art on the ceiling is inspiring. Love this spot on Main if you’re looking for a quick, cheap bite.

We got flagged down by a dude standing in front who said the burritos here were Amazing! I shouldn’t of listened, should of realized he worked there. I’ll blame it on the alcohol. Im sorry but I have to be honest when I say that my food just did not taste good. I ordered the carne asada burrito. The big one with guacamole and everything and I’ll just say no next time! It was dry and the meat was over done. I cut it in half to share and only one side had the guac. And that side wasn’t mine :(. I’d rather have a sloppy burrito than a dry unevenly layered burrito. Heck and the sauce they gave didnt help either! Honestly after a few bites, I chucked the whole thing! Only decent item was the chips, but so what. Id rather have a good ass burrito and a bag of crappy chips than vice versa. Next time Ill hit up the food truck across the way cuz AINT nuthn Holy about this spots grub!

Absolutely terrible! I ordered the carne asada burrito and a fish taco. Fish taco: it’s a fried cod that taste like a frozen fish stick from the supermarket. The toppings they put on it do little to add to its flavor. It was disgusting, dry and had no flavor what so ever! Carne Asada Burrito: ugh!!! No flavor at all! It tasted as though I was eating air! I had to add lime to it just to stomach its taste. To top it all off, I watched one of the cooks clean the vent over the stove while he had food cooking on it! We asked for water and they give tap water from a ran down faucet. I seriously do not know how these people are in business! Perhaps the people who frequent this place are late night drunks leaving the local bars. STAYAWAY!!! SAVEYOURMONEYTHISPLACESUCKS!!!

Dry burritos and tacos. All you taste is the dry tortilla. You need some grease and some melted oily cheese to mesh all the ingredients together in a goopy taco but this taco is too dry. You taste all the ingredients separately. Interior is tiny. This restaurant was designed for party of two only. Anything more than that, you will block the aisles inside the restaurant. Food takes forever to come out.

If really their specialty is ‘al pastor’, then that’s why this joint is not special at all. I’m giving it two stars just for the great service.
