So I really don’t see why this place has such bad reviews. I came in was immediately greeted by the waitress. Her name was Fabiola(I looked at the receipt) She was very helpful in helping me place an order. I’m extremely indecisive and wanted something healthy so I could workout and help a clean mind for my test. I decided to go with a fit skillet and add some bacon(my vice). My skillet came on time and looked like the picture. I should have read it more clearly because I wanted to get over medium eggs. Yum. Overall I had a good experience and Service was nice. So why a four stars and not a 5 you ask. 1. I came in and had to choose two tables down because the two other tables didn’t look clean at all. You could still see the grease even though there were new settings on the table. Gross. 2. The chef in the back, although good at his job and has every right to enjoy himself while at work was playing his music and singing very loudly. Not sure if he wanted others to hear him but I could clearly hear him sing and talk to the waitress in Spanish. But to each his own. Just a little distracting when you’re trying to enjoy breakfast in a nice ambience. Then again it’s Denny’s and could get busy and keep in kind I was only maybe two to three tables away from the chef. 3. When I asked the waitress about the eggs on my skillet she told me they automatically come with egg whites and I would have to request otherwise and that is totally fine. My only complaint is that my eggs were a tint of yellow. This tells me either I am color blind or they made my skillet with regular eggs. Lucky for them I am not picky and didn’t care if I got egg whites. Either way. Great all around.

I rarely eat at Denny’s, but I came because I had a coupon for a free grand slam in your birthday. I first have to thank Denny’s for offering this. I do a lot of birthday freebies and I appreciate companies that offer valuable coupons(no additional purchase necessary, etc.) I was seated right away and asked my beverage order. I just got water, which was never refilled, so that was a bummer. I got the build your own slam and ordered grits, pancakes, bacon and hash browns-well done. Props to the cook for actually cooking my hash browns well done. They were tasty and just how I like them-brown! The bacon and pancakes were fine. The grits, however… They came and had a «skin» on them. I stirred them up with the butter on top and took a bite-lukewarm at best. I sent them back and they brought me a fresh bowl but this time, no butter! I asked for more butter but the grits needed copious amounts of salt. They were kinda watery yet crunchy. My family is from the South, so I know me some grits. Oh well, they were free. Overall, the experience was fine. All the employees I encountered were friendly and helpful, the restaurant itself was clean and busy and parking was no problem.

The food is hit or miss, not the greatest. Most Denny’s restaurant know how to make an awesome breakfast but at this location sometimes the hash browns are soggy and undercooked or they forget items. The manager and most of the waitstaff are wonderful, they are very nice and try and correct any issues. No matter how busy they are they deliver with a smile. We mostly return due to the great customer service. They’re renovation looks great, I’m glad they switched from carpet to laminate.

I wish I could leave no stars to be quite honest. Me and two people came and waited at least half an hour but everyone after us came and we’re leaving by the time we got our order taken. The waitress could seat a few couples and a group of three before us? Ok. As nice as the waitress was, she 1– forgot my boyfriends two pancakes out of the four he ordered. 2– forgot his bacon. Which wasn’t even that good. It looked like the kind you toss in the microwave for a couple minutes. 3– forgot my BBQ sauce after I asked multiple times. Not just that, but the hostess was a tad rude too. We even saw the same thing that happened to us, happen to a family of three right after us. Oh well. I know what Denny’s I won’t come to again.

Props to my server who knew sign language. I thinks it’s pretty cool that you were able to help the couple next to us.

I come to Denny’s to get the 390-calorie Fit Slam. I can’t complain about that meal set, mostly it’s been pretty good when I go to Denny’s when traveling all over the country. But for some reason at this particular location, they can’t get it quite right. The tomato is off or the English muffin is burned. But I’ll keep coming back because its one of the newer Denny’s in San Diego. Also located in a very nice part of town, unlike many of the Denny’s in SD. The staff is some of the nicest people you’ll meet. However, all I have seen is mostly apologizing for not quite getting the job done right the first time. Still, they work earnestly hard. This restaurant always seem to be understaffed. Recommend to sit in the bar if your party is two or less, much better than the booth experience at this location. The cash register is located in a very crowded area of the entrance. It makes you feel like you want to get out of there quickly after eating.

Paid $ 13 for a sourdough club with cold fries. No thanks even with a revamp of the location, the quality of the food am just sucks. I’ve tried to give this very location a few chances but time after time they provide crappy food. I’m done!

The last two times I’ve gone into Dennys after 10pm, my favorite waitress, LORI, was not there. I was very disappointed because I’ve been going there for years and look forward to having LORI be my server. It is not the same without her. Not sure I will continue to come in if she will not be there her normal times and shifts.

Rude waitress, cold food, bad vibes. I get that you’re busy but that’s no reason to be gruff. I’ve waitressed before, I know it can be stressful, but at least try to smile. You were rather sour and sullen to us complaining about your job and straight up harsh and sassy(not in a good way) to your coworkers. But at least the food that actually was warm was good.

I don’t always go to Denny’s, but when I do I want all my servers to be exactly like Donovan. Went last night with a friend for a last minute cheap dinner. We were seated promptly, didn’t have to wait long at all for coffee, water or our food order. Donovan is the reason for the 4 stars, as most Denny’s are really only about 2 – 3. At least I know what I’m getting there. But Donovan was attentive, sharp, polite, timely and just very sweet/nice. We made sure the manager knew how much we liked the service and to keep Donovan at all costs. A nice change in excellent service for once at a Denny’s. I hope it stays this way!

You can put a bow on shit and it’s still a pile of shit! We heard the place was remodeled and had new management or owner so we thought we would give it another try. Everyone deserves a 29474647th try right? We waited a few minutes for drinks but not bad; server was friendly so we didn’t mind a little wait. Got our drinks and we placed our order and waited… And waited … And waited … And waited … Our food finally comes but we have no silverware. We asked for silverware in which the server said«oh I’m sorry let me get that for you» so we waited … And waited … I guess I should be thankful for the waiting because I might not have noticed the hair cooked into my eggs … He returns with the silverware and I hand him the plate back and said there is hair in the eggs. He again apologies and promptly takes it back and returns saying«they are making you a new plate» which is ok so I wait And wait(do you see the pattern yet?) My «fresh» plate is returned with room temperature hash browns and cold sausage and hot eggs. I am no chef or great cook but it was pretty obvious they scrapped the eggs off and just replaced them and re-served the same plate. Anyway We start to eat and I have cut up my sons pan-a-cakes(as he calls them) and have to use a super sticky bottle(seems to be an olive oil type bottle) which the syrup ssllloooowwwwwlllyyyyy came out so I held the bottle up and … Waited And waited Had to use same bottle for my pancakes so you guessed it more waiting. Bottom line? Don’t waster your time.

May I just say I hate giving a one star review. As somebody who works in the customer service industry I feel like it’s a very rare when I feel like I have to give a one star review but unfortunately I have gotten sick off of the food here more than once and that to me can’t to be overlooked. Let me start off by saying I know it’s a Denny’s and I’m not exactly expecting gourmet food and anybody who is is just kidding themselves. It should be affordable decent food and that’s all anyone should expect from a Denny’s. I’ve ordered several different things from pancakes to skillet meals and have gotten sick on a lot of them. Like I said I really don’t like to give bad reviews but the last time I ordered pancakes from here they literally tasted like onions. Also I got really sick off of just a short stack of pancakes. That really should not happen ever. Needless to say I’ve learned my lesson even though it probably should’ve been learned a long time ago and just don’t come here anymore.

You don’t go to Denny’s for great service, you go for pancakes… anyone who doesn’t enjoy breakfast food for dinner is a nasty and bitter person I don’t want to know. One request; please make the pumpkin spice pancakes year round, that is all. Ron Swanson

I am a big fan of Denny’s but the one in santee is absolute favorite!!! The waitresses are so nice and always fast. They never let me down when it comes to my food, never burnt or late on my orders! I just moved out to east county so this place was one I needed to go to and I wasn’t let down!

One of the very few late night alternatives in San Diego, that is not a taco shop. Service is slow at best… There was not too many customers. 18 minutes for 2 waters, and 2 sodas. Another 20 minutes for your food after you have FINALLY placed your order. Don’t count on what’s on the menu, or how you would like your food… This location will make it the way THEY want you to have it! OPEN24HOURS… because this is how long it will take them to get your food and beverage!

I’ve always liked Denny’s for a breakfast spot whenever I’m on vacation. It’s a good staple. My breakfast of choice is always Moons over my Hammy. I love all my food mashed together in one giant bite, how can you go wrong with this? Scrambled eggs, ham, American and Swiss cheese with buttered sourdough. The only thing missing in it is the hash browns, which are on the side. Yummy! The second thing that is always a staple is the chicken noodle soup. It’s not your Jewish penicillin, but it’s still really good. I was running a few errands in Santee, and I needed to get some chicken soup before going home. It was nice to see this location still had that small diner homey feel. The parking right up close is small, about 10 spaces. You can see the staff was busy at this location but still happy and friendly. There was this sweet kid that helped me out. He was new, and he never had to place a soup order to go and no one was around to help him out. He didn’t get frustrated or anything. He just took his time, apologized, and got through it… smiling. I went home with a lot of saltines with my soup. Lol, Thanks! Denny’s is also my go to spot whenever I’m home catching up with friends since they never close! :)

The first time I came in was the day I went to Disneyland for my birthday. We were trying to find a place that was still open since we were staying here in Santee. The server Amber was one of the coolest servers we’ve ever had. She gave us what we wanted at a good time. Last week, we went back since we recently moved here and she was still there! She even remembered us and our orders. I love coming here now.

Everything about my visit to this particular Denny’s was A-Okay, from the service, to the grilled cobb chicken salad, with out the egg, with the side if garlic ciabatta bread, which in truth, was a lot better then the rest. The salad was of average size and came with a modest amount of grilled chicken breast, crispy bacon, and a small amount of avocado slices( ). The chicken was tender, juicy, and had a mild seasoning and flavor( ). The bacon was pretty good with good flavor and some crispiness, but the avocado was a little water under ripe with only a few slices which was a little disappointing; an area I think they should improve on, on this salad( ). The salad had a good amount of cheddar cheese and I liked the Thousand Island dressing. All the greens were fresh and crisp, but believe it or not, what I liked best about the salad, was the side of ciabatta bread that I did not even know came with the salad( ). The garlic ciabatta toast had just the right amount of melted butter and garlic flavor to make it enjoyable, and it the bread it self, had a nice chewy texture. Also, I forget to mention that the salad also came with some crispy crunchy potato strings that added a great crunchiness to the salad( ). Well done with that addition… For the most part, service was good. It was little relax at first, but then it picked up as I engaged my server in conversation regarding the menu, ingredients, and such.
