Appetizers is the name of the game. Very authentic and traditional dishes but is it worth it? Probably not.

Great cheeses in the salad. Crunchy, creamy croquets, salty paella, and good flan were reason enough to eat here. I will not be returning; I do not support this business.

Breaking the threshold into a 3 star restaurant, this place is a pretty cool place to eat at! Our waiter sat us down and did a great job explaining the menu and gave us some awesome suggestions. We ordered 5 tapas(Check photos) The beef stew was alright. Moist but not as flavorful as I would have liked. The enpenads was fried nicely however the sauces that it was paired with wasn’t the best pairing. It is served with some lemon and chipotle sauce. The fried fish was probably one of the best tapas. The fish taste great but the blue and white sauce that it came with wasn’t so great. Overall: definitely worth trying.

The meat plate tastes just like the tapas I had in Barcelona, except the server was prompt and friendly. There is seating on the sidewalk in front. A very enjoyable lunch, great for reminiscing. about Spain.

In the South Bay, there are very few authentic Spanish restaurants. TapaOlé is one and is a delightful place for lunch and tapas. The selection is genuinely good and Pedro(the owner) is happy to engage. Delicious food with the shrimp croquetas, sherry mushrooms and gambas al ajillo being standouts… Tumaka — jamón iberico on garlic bread — was tasty too and worth a try if you are not familiar with cured ham from Spain(it is distinct from Italian prosciutto). I will go back for some more dishes from Andalucía. Hopefully, next time I will go for dinner and sample their paella(especially the arroz negro) and other plates. I did not notice if TapaOlé served dessert but I was pleasantly full and did not want to overdo it. Next time I will look. However, I did notice that they sold Valor melting chocolate in their little store… I will pick some up to Christmas to make a hot cup of pure chocolate goodness!

BOMB! I felt like I was in Madrid… or Sevilla all over again and we will definitely be coming back. You’d never know it being that the restaurant is in a strip mall but once you’re in… and you take that first bite, fogettaboutit, you are transported from a strip mall in Saratoga to a tiny street in your favorite city in Spain.

The staff was friend and helpful when picking out dishes to order. This was my first time here with my boyfriend who has some spanish heritage. He and I enjoyed all the foods we ordered. :)

I made an effort to make a reservation on a Friday night because well, my hubby and I decided on a spontaneous dinner date. Upon arriving(after getting lost) on time, we told the server and manager that we had a reservation. They were totally clueless and told us that there’s only a table outside that can sit us. O-kay…whatever; after ordering, we got our dishes within 5 minutes(pretty fast right?!?) which means a lot of their food are stew-like and didn’t need to be freshly prepared. The beef dishes were good, skip the fish – it was over cooked and chewy, it was like eating fish fillet cubes with the vinegar already inside – interesting but eat the entire dish like that and it’s not good. The bread pudding was so bland, so tasteless, and dense, there was nothing good about it. Service was alright, water guy was nice and always refilled us when needed and he cleared our table soon after we were done. Our main server did forget 1 of our dishes and we had to order from someone else. Overall, this was a let down and definitely not worth the drive.

My girls and I met up for dinner here and it was such a cute little place. There are a few open tables outside but since it was a little breezy and we had a little one with us, we waited a few minutes before we could be seated inside. It took us a while to decide on what to order, but we all knew one thing for sure: We were going to order a glass of sangria. And mmm it was delicious! After spending a little too much time talking and not enough time looking and deciding on the menu, a server came by to take our order and I just asked him what he recommended on the tapas menu. He had quite a few favorites and we chose a few of those as well as a couple of our own. What we had: * Bienmasabe– Deep Fried Fish w/Adobo: these were little nuggets of fish that were marinated in an adobo flavoring and then breaded and deep fried. * Cadifornia– Deep Fried Squid/Calamari– who doesn’t like calamari? * Peineta– Fried Egg over Potatoes– came in such a cute presentation with the fried egg on top and a little canopy of ham * Ali-Olé– Potatoes with Garlic Mayo: Not what we expected it to be, it looked like potato salad * Bacon Wrapped Dates– these were yummy(one order comes with 4 only) * Te’ Moruno — Moorish cooked chicken kebab: If you like Mediterranean/Indian style chicken, you might like this. I didn’t think it was bad. * San Ferin– Beef Stew w/Potatoes: Braised beef was tender and reminded me of Filipino comfort food. * Banderillas– Flame-cooked chorizo: our skillet did not come out sizzling like I’ve seen some other Unilocalers post it. But it was still good. The service was super friendly and everyone was quite taken with my handsome neph ;) We were all super full after our meal. Especially because the free bread paired so well with most of the dishes :) Thanks TapaOle!

Came in on a Friday evening, there was no wait. We started with a pitcher of the sangria. $ 32 is a little steep for what we got. Very very sweet, and it tasted like something that came out of a pre made store bought jug. We had a variety of tapas including the patatas bravas, tortilla espanola. Our favorite was the braised beef sandwich. We had the seafood paella, not very authentic and very greasy. Overall, wouldn’t come back. 3 stars for the attentive service and cute ambiance.

A pleasant little restaurant. Arrived on sat noon to a half filled restaurant, greeted by really friendly staff, ordered marinero seafood soup, tortilla espanola, salad w/tomato & avocado mousse, flamenco, piquillo pepper stuffed with fish, garlic shrimp, fried calamari… Everything tasted good, not too overwhelming but very pleasant subtle flavours, everything was served hot, and the marinero seafood soup was great. Garlic shrimp was nice too. The only disappointment being the deep fried calamari which was a little overdone. And did i mention? Service was very warm too.

We went here on Saturday thanks to all of these glowing Unilocal reviews… We even got the shrimp croquettes because they were recommended. Our overall experience truly was«meh» and one of the more sub-par meals in recent memory. It really was too bad, because we wanted to like this cute neighborhood place, and hoped to have a new food option for when we head up to concerts on the hill. The wine we chose was delicious. My friend wrote it down but I don’t have it with me. It paired great with the meal, and was great on its own. That is about the only thing that wasn’t a disappointment. The rest of the meal was meh, starting with our entrance into the restaurant. We see mostly empty tables but are told we should have made a reservation, but they decided to put two tables together for us four so we could eat. We at that point were considering trying elsewhere but stayed the course. There should be a little chart or something that they can look at and know within seconds if they have room or not. Or, just have a restaurant that is reservations only with incremented seating times. This was awkward. All the food we had was bland. We had: fried potatoes(bland), shrimp croquettes, a frittata sort of thing, olive dish(one of the types tasted off), pork«chop»(tiny cutlet) with potatoes and Roquefort, bacon wrapped dates, and probably something else that I’m forgetting. I was so stoked to try all the potato dishes, because I love potatoes, but they were all bland, and too expensive for the small portions. We left hungry.

At first I was unsure as the food was different than I am used to. But the gentleman waiter was patient and showed me pictures of all the food on his iPad. How cool is that? Very! He made a few suggestions and I ended up going with the Empanadas and mushrooms. Both very tasty. I will be back.

TapaOle was great! I came here for a family dinner with my parents, my sister and her husband and we really enjoyed the food. Some favorites were the bacon wrapped dates, shrimp with garlic, octopus, and calamari(it was really light and not heavy). I thought the paella was pretty good but not the best I’ve ever had. My family really liked it though. The chocolate mousse dessert we had was excellent and so was the service. The owner was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. My family and I will definitely be coming back here. Oh, and it was a pretty good deal for the amount of food we ordered. I think it ended up being about $ 25 per person for the dinner and we had plenty of leftover paella for lunch the next day! Really reasonably priced and good food! A definite recommend!

Tapa olé excelente restaurantes español, atendido por sus propios dueños, les recomiendo todas las tapas, y la sangría es algo fuera de lo normal. Llamen para reservar su silla para el flamenco.

This place is perfect for nice ambience and good Spanish food. Loved my meat filled empanada and it was the best empanada I’ve had. Also had my best sangria here too. Can’t wait to come back.

Perhaps it’s because I live in NYC, but I don’t expect to find such a shockingly delicious, traditional tapas joint in a strip mall. From the moment the chorizo banderillas came out sizzling, I knew we were in for a treat. Each dish was tastier than the last, from the deliciously fried bienmesabe, to the fluffiest shrimp croquetas ever, to the San Fermin beef stew with its hint of tarragon, to the Flamenca stew topped with a perfectly runny egg, to the empanada special unlike any empanadas I’ve ever seen… we loved it all. The prices were right, the day was sunny, and the chef singing along to the music in Spanish as he cooked made it feel more like a Catalan vacation than a joint that might share a wall with a dollar store.

Decided to come here because Donostia was closed for a private party. It was very empty when we arrived, but a few more people came in afterwards. Service was friendly and fast. Food was ok. The only thing I liked was the tripe out of the fried potatoes., meat from the stew, and pork sirloin. Not a big selection of wine. We went with a white wine.

Hurts me to write a review like this: I came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend. Lot of parking spaces available. Only a couple tables were filled, so we were seated immediately. The waiter greeted us the second we sat down and brought us water. We wanted to try out some tapas in addition to a main course. Unsure as to which tapas to select, I asked the waiter to recommend a couple dishes. We settled on the pork empañadas and the Te’ Moruno for our tapas and the seafood paella. Pork Empañadas(special that night): The dish consisted of 2 non-traditional looking pork empañadas. Honestly, it looked like they had taken some Pillsbury dough, flattened it out, and stuffed it with some pork. However, I’ll admit that it tasted better than it looked. The sauces on the side were flavorful but be aware of the white garlic sauce! EXTREMELYPUNGENT! PRICE: $ 6 Te’ Moruno: A SINGLE moorish chicken kabob with some cold french fries, the same white garlic sauce that was in the empañada dish, toasted piece of bread and a small shooter of mint tea? The chicken was tender and tasted pretty decent. Not a fan of the fries, but I ate them anyway. Tea was okay too. PRICE: $ 6 Seafood Paella: I’m getting nauseated just thinking about this dish. First off, a minimum of 2 people must order the paella, and the seafood paella, in particular, costs $ 22 per person. Second, it took them about ~25 minutes to prepare this dish, so if you’re extremely hungry, I wouldn’t recommend ordering this dish. My boyfriend and I waited patiently knowing that paella is not easy to make. Now remember that time I told you it cost $ 22 per person? Yeah. Not worth it. The dish shows up, it’s smaller than we expected. The seafood looks far from fresh. Well maybe it’ll taste better than it looks? Wrong. The shrimp was tasteless, the mussels + clams were definitely not fresh, and the rice tasted like something you would get from a Chef Boyardee can. Paella needs saffron. Where’s the saffron? After finishing about a 1⁄5th of the dish, I started feeling sick. No… no. NONO. NO. Please tell me it’s not food poisoning. I’m pretty sure I ate a bad clam, because within minutes, I felt so nauseated that I told my boyfriend that I needed to go take a walk outside. He mentioned that he felt a little off as well. We finished less than half the dish, asked for the check, and quickly left. The only reason why I’m giving this place a 2⁄5 is because our waiter was nice and the tapas were semi-decent. However, I won’t be returning to TapaOlé any time soon.

I’m feeling slightly led astray by some of the Unilocal reviews here, especially the highly recommended paella which … I don’t know. I’ve had way more flavorful paella from places that are far less well rated and more generic than here. Came here on a Saturday night only to find it to be fairly quiet. Not busy at all, got a seat right away. Most of their seating is near the window, so you can expect it to be a little on the chilly side. The staff is very friendly but they tend to be eager when clearing your table. You sometimes haven’t even taken the last bite before they try to come and take away your plate. It makes the whole experience rather rushed. Their paella was deeply disappointing. The rice wasn’t cooked all the way through and the flavor just wasn’t there. The seafood was mediocre at best. I did have some of their other tapas, the stewed /braised beef was most definitely good. But that out of 6 tapas is kind of a low score. Overall — I probably wouldn’t come back again because there are way better places for Spanish tapas, but it was a cute experience?

First time trying but the ambience is nice. between dressy and causal. We had calamari for appetizer and seafood paella(expected 30min) I judged wrong on Paella. Although rice is in rich sauce curry style, it was not smashes at all, pretty individual and nice enough for all. It tasted the same as I tasted in Madrid. Very prompt service & noice.

Not bad for the price. If you like traditional Spanish tapas you will like this. Were got the lunch special for two. It was pretty good, though I would say two of the dishes we ordered had too much potato. Are for the chorizo(not bad, had better), the deep fried fish in adobo(ok) pork sirloin(good, would be happier with less potato) beef stew(good but potato again) jamon croquettes(good but could not feel the meat in the dish) chicken(Moroccan taste, with mint tea and fried potato not bad) Service and ambience were fine!
