Asian River

First thing, it’s not advertised but they do offer AYCE sushi! I’m only ever interested in the speciality rolls, which are unlimited, but there are limits on the Sashimi. I tried the following rolls, all of which earned positive results from my taste buds:
Dragon Roll
Savannah Roll
Diamond Roll
Hot Night Roll — Roll with cream cheese our waitress
Hard Rock Roll — one of their most popular rolls.
Asian River Roll — this one comes with a kick I wasn’t prepared for.
I’m not picky about what I need to have in my sushi rolls. If you are, they have a good selection of different rolls, probably about 2 dozen, and they also have what I consider to be the «plain» rolls.
I also ordered the Steam Pork Buns, which is not included in the AYCE price, but it is a must try. Very warm, fluffy, and meaty.
To end my meal, I had a lychee boba drink to-​go. They have a decent selection of flavors, to include honeydew, coconut, and early grey. The boba itself was not at all chewy and was hard in the center. The drink was a milky lychee which I had never tasted before. This boba drink did not blow my mind, but considering how good the meal was and that it satisfied my craving, it worked for me.
I hope I can fine more AYCE sushi places in town, otherwise I’m coming back for more.

Wife and I really enjoyed our time there. The bartender Derrek was very friendly, and a encyclopedia of the local scene. My wife got the blood orange martini, while i went with the old fashioned. Going back before we leave

I came here with my friends for dinner and because we came across a good deal on Groupon. The food was super delicious and everyone was satisfied. The only reason for the ⁴⁄₅ rating is because the employees there weren’t very engaging. And some of the items that I wanted to order were sold out. Regardless, I would most definitely return for the deal that they have via Groupon.

Ordered the bittermelon dish from grubhub. The meat was awful tasted a bit rancid, and the cut of pork was thick and very pungent-​tasting. The bittermelon is very thickly sliced, and everything was covered in this cornstarch sauce that was the consistency of snot.
I called grubhub to correct the issue and they helped me sort it out. Talked to the restaurant manager and asked for a different dish of the same price since I figured the pork there was bad.
They sent me the same bittermelon with pork again, and it was the exactly same quality. I guess the dish is always bad there. I couldn’t eat more than two bites and felt vey nauseous afterward.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. There are other places in Savannah who can do a much, much better job with Asian cuisine, especially for the price.

Sunday evening, we drove to one of my favorite sushi places in savannah «sushi time towa». They were closed. So trying to stay close to this side we chose to eat at «asian river». Destiny was our server and hostess. She took our drink order right away and was very prompt returning with them. She took our order and made sure to suggest «all you can eat sushi» we order about 5 rolls and it was an hour to closing time. Took about 20 min’s or so but we also had other dishes that had already came. Timing was okay, but Destiny was awesome, letting us know it should only take a few more minutes as well as making sure we had everything else before our sushi came. We enjoyed our evening. The restaurant was clean and is always clean when we go. Our server was pleasant and food was good. Sushi could still improve as far as the actual sashimi pieces being a little bit more fresh but really no complaints.

The food and wait staff are the best… if you want sushi I’ve found few places that compare… and all you can eat sushi for 21.99.you got to be kidding but it was true .and an 8.95 lunch sushi 2 premium rolls and a salad… very fresh… also the traditional Japanese fare is awesome… Great Place

I called to order delivery. The speaker is very impatient, and I wanted to change it to Togo order, she said «fuck» in the phone. So rude. Never see a speaker treat customer like that. And she is a vietnamese, just said to identify.

I recently moved to the area and I have been searching for places that deliver and there is not much near me. I tried Asian River because of the reviews I read, but I have no idea how the reviews are so good. Delivery took an hour and a half during a slow time (Placed my order at 2:45pm). When it finally arrived I was so hungry I just opened a container and took a bite. It was a ‘lettuce wrap’ with chicken. There was something I couldn’t bite through at all and spit t out. Turns out the chicken was so over cooked it was dehydrated and rock hard. There was some sort of strange sauce on the top that I still can’t identify, but isn’t listed in the ingredients on their menu. I called and told them the wraps were not edible. He offered a refund or a replacement so I asked for the refund since I ordered more to reach the minimum. I’m still waiting for the refund on those.
They had a minimum order for delivery, so in order to meet it, I also ordered Pad Thai and steamed vegetable dumplings. The dumplings were cold. Not even warm. I reheated them in the microwave, and I could tell that they may have once been good. But I don’t suggest you reheat dumplings… it didn’t work out too well. As for the Pad Thai? I have no words. I have never tasted anything quite like this, but I assure you, the flavor was not even in the same realm as Pad Thai. There was more Bok Choy than anything else in the container. I’ve never had Pad Thai with Bok Choy in it before. It wasn’t listed in the menu or else I would have asked them to omit it since I don’t care for it. Regardless, I had a container of Bok Choy with a spicy sauce that didn’t even taste of peanut or lime or anything that makes Pad Thai what it is. The few noodles that were in the container were over cooked and fell apart. I tried using chop sticks, but honestly a spoon would have been the only tool to scoop up the limp noodles. Fortunately the chicken was cooked well, not overdone or anything, there was just barely any chicken in it. It was nothing like what I expected.
I won’t be ordering again because I didn’t enjoy the food or the wait I had, however, every person I spoke to, including the driver was very nice, friendly, and courteous. That is why I added the extra star giving it a two star rating. But the food, for me at least, is only deserving of a single star.

This place is the best and all my friends agree. We come back over and over again for years now because its just that good. Great selections and I have never been disappointed. Very authentic Chinese and sushi plus a lot of menu options you will not find anywhere else in this region. LOVE IT!

Service sucked, slow or no refills, and I am used to authentic chinese food, this was not it…

Amazing food! The seafood is always very fresh and the flavors are very authentic. The staff and service here has always been great; my dad lives really close by so we frequent this restaurant. I tried their boba last time and their milk tea was delicious! Probably one of the best milk teas I’ve ever had. The restaurant is pretty big so it’s very spacious, and there are plenty of private banquet rooms if you want to have a party here.

I was so happy to find this restaurant. I had been looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant in Savannah and while this place serves more than just Chinese food and is labeled «asian fusion», I was happy with the huge menu. My husband was craving Thai and I’m always looking for Chinese so this was a great middle ground.
I ordered the beef brisket noodle and the flavor was great and the meat was tender. Only downside was that the noodles were lo mein noodles and not the flat rice noodles I’m used to. My husband got the Pad Thai and he was happy with it– «nothing to write home about». I also got a sauted veggie dish and it was huge. I had leftovers for a few days afterwards.
The only thing we were disappointed in were the pan fried dumplings. They tasted like it came from the freezer section at a grocery store… and not even a decent kind.

I am writing this from my hotel room as I eat my delivery from Asian River — this way I won’t forget any details. My husband and I are just passing through on our way back to Northern Virginia. We eat a lot of Asian food up there so I think we might be qualified to give an accurate assessment of what we had.
Pork Fried Rice — it’s literally white and does not look fried. There are huge pieces of pork, which is not preferable for fried rice, as well as a very small amount of cooked onions, scallions, and egg. The texture is nice and it’s salty so I can’t stop eating it, but that probably means it has loads of MSG (or maybe I’m just really hungry since delivery took 1hr).
Dumplings — shrimp dumplings have about one (super small) shrimp in each. The pork buns and the pork dumplings have the same filling, which is odd because pork buns usually have a barbecue flavor. Also, we got three orders of dumplings but only one cup of sauce filled ¹⁄₃ of the way. Really?
Wonton Soup — devoid of flavor and the wonton wrappers are thicker than pasta. Pretty sure if I could get through one of the wontons, the filling would be the same as the dumplings and buns.

** when this order arrived It was not correct and I contacted the company and let them know that I was so unsatisfied. Considering I had already paid for the meal they offered to comp my next order. The manager Alex was quick to apologize and explained there were multiple new people training and I later received a call from the owner to inquire about true service I received. I will order again considering they were quick to try to make the situation right!
I am currently waiting on my second and probably last order from Asian River. I placed an online order over and hour and 15 minutes ago… I called multiple times to try to figure out what was happening and the phone would ring and ring and then just disconnect. When I was finally able to get through the lady who answered was very short with me and ended the conversation very abruptly.
«The driver just left, your order will be there soon, k» and just hung up. Didn’t ask if that was all I needed or offer any degree of customer service.
I was unimpressed with how long the delivery took last time but they have a dish that I’m currently craving (4 months pregnant) and gave it another shot. The food is decent but is not really worth the money they charge, especially considering the customer service is non existent.

We used a groupon here while we were in Savannah on vacation. We got pork dumplings, sushi, coconut shrimp, brown rice. Everything was really good!

Food was a 5. My hubby has spent months in China and says the style of serving (family style) as while as the food was just like it was in China. They have authentic and American chinese food. Crab ragoon was awesome. Salt and pepper frog legs were great. Honey and walnut shrimp and chicken was good. Shrimp was much better than the chicken. Shrimp had a coconut sauce on it that great. Egg rolls were great.
Weird thing was that all the decorations had price tags.

I had been here around a year ago and it was an 8 out of 10 then went a few nights ago and holy moly! Their food is outstanding! Try the garlic chicken and eggplant. All sushi is a green light. I have a sensitive stomach and no problems to report. The staff was very helpful and we had a very personal experience. Thank you we will be coming back as regulars for sure.

I ordered the chicken & mango lettuce wraps, the fried dumplings, and the fried salmon skin & avocado salad. Nothing disappointed… and no issues with the level of service.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with the salmon skin salad but it consisted of very flavorful chunks of fried salmon pieces w/​skin, some sliced fresh avocado, on top of a bed of chopped lettuce. It comes with a side of spicy sauce, which I didn’t use very much of because it’s kinda over powering. Tasty!
The lettuce wraps were fresh, super juicy, and packed full. The chicken was pulled, not just hunks of random chicken parts. Filling and pretty darn healthy (i think??). I would order this again in a heartbeat.
The dumplings were not lacking in meat, which is great. Nice flavor. Wrapping a little on the thick side, but not enough to deter me. As in, I didn’t need to remove any to enjoy.
Definitely worth checking this place out if you like Asian foods.

I feel that some of these positive reviews must be from people paid to write good reviews.
We made a large order last night. I was excited to find a place to deliver to HAAF, I should have been more careful. This is the most over priced food I have ever had! I can’t believe how much they charge for sub par food.
Not only was the food over priced, it was awful! All the sauces had a sour after taste. The only thing that had tasted even slightly good were the dumplings. And those came fried even though I ordered steamed. The sweet and sour sauce was off. It was spicy. The egg rolls were fine, but I would be seriously upset for someone to really mess up an egg roll. We were also charged for extra sweet and sour sauce that we did not receive. The fact that they charge for extra anything is laughable considering their ridiculous prices to begin with.
Be wary of this place! I am not the only one who hated this place, just seems I am the only one writing about it.
