Great food, everything we tried was so tasty and reasonably priced. awesome place and service. Outdoor seating is dog friendly. Will definitely go back– even for drinks on the patio.

Great fresh food. Everything is so fresh and delicious! Lunch can get a little backed up!!! But it’s because they make everything to order!!! Service was great and their cocktails are great!!! Also awesome happy hour and outdoor seating.

Kayak is great. We love that we live pretty close to both locations, and they have a variety of options for someone who cannot consume gluten. They are always very mindful of how things should be prepared, and I feel well taken care of by the knowledgable staff. Not everything you order will be as tasty. I’m not a fan of the sandwiches, and wish I could trust that anything I ordered would be up to the quality standards of their tacos. Thankfully, I have never gotten sick here, so we will be loyal customers!

This place is super cute and hippie. :) I ordered the Lime chicken & goat cheese enchiladas. I REALLY enjoyed them. Super flavorful and so fresh. A little on the spicy side. I would def recommend this place & will go back.

I went to the Broughton Street location and left a bit unsure of what to think. I’ve read some reviews on here about bad service and I’m inclined to agree. Wait staff is a bit neglectful and the food takes an awfully long time for what your getting. There are places with better, cheaper food that take half the time. My biggest gripe is the menu. Personally, I think cilantro tastes like soap. I’m one of those. Some things on the menu specifically state cilantro as an ingredient while others do not. After ordering a quesadilla and a side, I found both covered in cilantro. Maybe this won’t bother some, but trying to avoid cilantro like the plague, I found it frustrating that it wasn’t stated as an ingredient. Yes, there are people who really can’t stand this herb. Anyway, they took the side off the bill and made my quesadilla again. However, once all the salsa is gone you realize how little your actually getting: 1 small slice of avocado, 2 small pieces of shrimp usually seen in salads, and 3 black beans. Not making up the latter. For a place this pricy you’d hope you would get your money’s worth. My last complaint is that I was charged for a bottle of cold brewed coffee I brought in myself. I got a nice tasty Perc cold brew at the farmers market and decided to take it on the road to drink with family. The restaurant decided to add it to the bill, and was pretty passive aggressive when I asked it be taken off. Perhaps some consider it rude to bring an outside bottle, but I had no idea they sold said coffee, and I paid an awful lot for food to be met with such condescension. Anyway, the salads look great. They certain have the vegetarian side down pat. I would say, if you avoid certain menu items, ask about cilantro beforehand, and can handle the wait and the attitude of the waitstaff, give it a go. With the vast array of restaurants in Savannah, however, why bother.

By far the worst costumer service I’ve been to. 2 hours for lunch for a tuna melt and Cesar salad was not worth it. Taylor the server had me pass the receipt books to the table. Food was great but the service was the worst.

The food is always good, but taking 2 hours to have a meal is pathetic. The service was very awful and very slow.

Good Cuban sandwich. Wait staff were nice. Took a little long for food to arrive. I will go back but not if I’m in a hurry.

Kayak is consistent. Always fresh, good food. Underrated brunch on Saturdays. Moroccan poached egg and the blackeyed pea cake dishes are unique brunch offerings. Would be nice to see some variety in the dinner specials– pretty much the same thing every time. But it’s still a great place to eat and easy to find a good healthy option, no matter what day part.

Great lunch spot with good outdoor seating. Host sat us quickly and the waiter delivered water promptly. I had the tacos which were great and just be right proportion. Great healthy alternatives as well which is always a plus.

I’m giving this location a 1 star review completely based on service. I’ve only eaten at the broughton st location(and enjoyed the food) because I ended up walking out at this location. Came in well before the lunch rush with my 15 month old son and a girlfriend for a quick lunch. Stood at the door while the numerous female bartenders just stared at us from the bar. No hello, no «someone will be right with you,» no assistance what so ever. Just kept chatting it up with their male military patrons at the bar. Alrighty then, strike one. Continued to stand there for quite a while with a wiggly toddler in my arms getting increasingly irked. Again, there is hardly any patrons yet but lots of employees milling about in what I can only assume is prep for the lunch rush. Finally a very young hostess saunters up and asks how many in our party. We had decided that based on the inattentiveness so far that we would get our food to go since we just needed a quick lunch. She told us that we would have to order at the bar and proceeded to WALKAWAY. Okie dokie, strikes two and three. Annoyed, we walked over to the bar to order and once again nobody looks at us or gives us the time of day. That was the last straw and we walked out. By then hostess was back at her perch by the door and didn’t say a word as we walked out. TOTHEKAYAKMANAGERATTHEPAULSENSTLOCATION… GETYOURSTAFFSACTTOGETHER! Completely unacceptable and will not be returning unless I somehow acquire the patience of a monk.

Wow! Was this place hoppin’!! Friday lunch and the place is filled with the trendy over 40 crowd. For being a packed as it was I give my compliments to the kitchen. Hot, tasty food kept coming from the kitchen. No one seemed to be waiting. Waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. Tomato Basil soup is slightly spicy. Jumbo turkey burger was moist, tasty and slightly sweet. I’m not really a fan of sweet potato fries but these were actually pretty good.

I eat at the midtown location at least once a week. I have yet to have a bad meal from here. I love their West Indian trader salad(w/garlic ginger dressing) and their wings are delicious! Don’t forget a homemade chocolate chip oatmeal cookie on your way out! The service is great and the décor is clean and simple.

When friends ask me a for a quick, kid-friendly, light, veggie-friendly, reliable lunch in Savannah, I often recommend Kayak Café. It’s noisy, casual, inexpensive and the food is always tasty. It’s hard to find a vegan or vegetarian friendly place in the South; thankfully Kayak Café knows how to provide more than a salad for non-meat eaters. I eat meat though and love their pork dishes. The pineapple pork combination is fabulous: sweet, savory, and nicely balanced. The pineapple really complements the very moist pork. The fish tacos are also very good: the white fish is very mild, but moist. It’s a nice light meal and not at all fishy. The Mexican-inspired menu is inspired but not spicy. I, personally, like my food spicy, so I give everything a good slather of their homemade habanero dressing which is thick, hot, and lightly sweet. It’s wonderful. The slaw and cilantro sauce are also very very good. Service is fast and friendly.

Kayak Café has 2 locations; I am reviewing the one in Midtown at 5002 Paulsen. Enjoyed sitting outdoors for dinner and listening to a live blue-grass duo. I enjoyed a black-eyed-pea veggie burger; it was fine but not memorable. I appreciate restaurants that have many vegan options. I wish the desserts were more to my linking; since I didn’t order dessert, I guess all the desserts must have been either dairy or chocolate.

The midtown location was great so we didn’t have to go downtown(Broughton St) to the original location. Our waitress mixed up a special habanero dressing for my husband’s salad when he asked for hot sauce, which he LOVED and then more to take home with wings. My spicy jerk chicken panini was as advertised, nice and spicy too. Great food, fast service, friendly wait staff who go the extra mile, full bar. What more can you ask for? Only thing I would say, is it is on the noisy side and it wasn’t overly busy. Will definitely come again!
