Irish in name only. Really just a crappy dive with overpriced drinks. Places like this are popular in Savannah for some reason, I don’t get it.

Great spot! Karaōke was so much fun! The singers were animated and entertaining. One bartender for both side of the bar and handled it like a boss!

Fun atmosphere, great beer! Hanging with the owner certainly added to our experience.

Awesome fish and chips and wings! Fish was lightly battered and fried to perfection. The fish was so light and airy that it was like a cloud in my mouth. Drinks were great as well!

Great hole in the wall! Ran across this place while wondering around Savannah. The drinks were great and their fish and chips were amazing! It was like eating a fluffy light cloud made out of fish!

For the food I would give this place two-stars, however, for the nightlife/game watching I would pump that up to four-stars. Pretty much anything you order on the menu is fried, and all of it is average at best. Overall I just wouldn’t recommend eating here unless you were drunk and starving. However, at night and on Sundays during games this turns into a fun, crowded spot. The bartenders are quick to get your drinks out and the drinks are all a very fair price. There are TVs everywhere if you’re looking for a good spot to watch Sunday football, however a lot of them are outdated/a bit fuzzy, not the biggest problem when there are so many though. Karaōke is also big here, a plus in my book!

Great hole in the wall that is literally ALWAYS open. I stumbled upon this bar as a starting point for a ghost tour. I noticed it was on my way from home to some more populated bar-hopping areas. I make sure to stop here whenever I am traveling to Congress, Market Square, or Broughton from the southern historic district. It is just PERFECT to make a little pit stop in. The location is really central and a good place to start your night, especially if you are trying to catch a game or gather the troops! Another time, my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to watch an early football game when we were without cable. They were open for us way earlier than expected, had plenty of TVs, and were very accommodating. The food is typical bar fare so this is NOT the place to go if you are looking for a foodie-gastropub bar experience. Excellent beer selection, and quick and fast I am rating McDonough’s SOLELY on its merits and what it is. A great place to grab a drink, with plenty of places to sit, watch sporting events, and grab a bite without the crown/noise/wait of other places downtown.

One of my favorite bars. Good for starting your day with breakfast and bloody Mary’s and good for ending your night with karaōke. Always a good time and the bartenders are awesome

The nighttime bartender is an absolute tool. My big toe has more sense. High school is over ego boy. Be careful what you say when this clown is around. Sarcasm he does not know.

Solid locals only dive bar. Great karaōke every night! Awesome wings and other fried foods although the fish and chips need a little work. great«real people» bar staff. Every time we roll the Motorhome through Savannah we stop in.

I wasn’t overly impressed with one of the bartenders and was surprised to find put they didn’t have Irish Cream. I hope it was just that they were out. It’s not a bad local bar, has a decent crowd and probably deserves a second chance

Overpriced drinks with shitty service. The food is disgusting and the atmosphere sucks. You’ve been warned. Make sure you check your bill. They try to charge you for things you didn’t order and overcharge you for things you did order. It seems that most of the staff has an attitude and couldn’t care less for your business. Buyer beware.

Went to this restaurant in hopes of a good, quick place for lunch. It had been raining all day, so we were happy to find a place to get out of the rain for a bit. There was only one waitress who was also bartending, which meant service was pretty slow even through there weren’t a ton of people there. I ordered the caesar wrap and Mac and cheese(thinking it would me a good home made mac and cheese), however, what came out was a watery version of Kraft Mac and cheese. Overall this place was okay, but service was slow, and there a probably a lot better places to eat in Savannah than here.

We found this place as a result of our Slo-ride bike tour. We walked in and were greeted with friendly bartenders and told to order the bar favorite, the irish breakfast or the breakfast of champions shot, depending what you call it. I could not have been happier to hear those words come out of the bartenders mouth as I love a good breakfast of champions! Added bonus: they serve it with a huge piece of bacon. Later that night we returned to have a few more drinks and found karaōke had taken over the bar. I’m not a huge fan but the entire place seemed to love it. Go check this place out on any trip to Savannah, definitely worth the stop in!

Go here for breakfast! One of the locals at the hotel pointed us towards here and I have to say I was hesitate. We sat down in the bar and ordered. The staff was friendly and the food was hot. But most of all it was delicious! Simple eggs, potatoes, great toast and pancakes. We eat breakfast out alot and this is by far one of the best we’ve had. A local hole in the wall with great food!

At first glance, you wouldn’t assume that McDonugh’s attracts the diverse group that it does. I’ve been in during the day for a bite to eat, but until recently, I didn’t know this was one of the«It» spots in Savannah when it comes to karaōke. Well, if you’re looking for a good time and a friendly crowd, come on out. I had a blast singing – albeit a little tone deaf – to some modern hits as well as the oldie goldies. And – the drinks are alright too! Friendly staff, big space: oh what a night.

Savannah has one of the best Irish bars scene in the country, and my streak of excellent bars continues with McDonough. Another great local Irish dive, this time a little bigger with a full-fledged karaōke night and, of course, a haunting. Don’t expect gourmet food or high class drinks here — they were having a sale on PBR, they had Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy on draft(which the bartender didn’t know how to pronounce), and people were drunk at 9PM. It was a great time.

Was in town on a long weekend and heard this place has karaōke every night. Well, we had to go. There is not enough liquor in world to get me on stage but my trophy wife turns into a contender on the«voice» after a her 2nd beer. I totally enjoy watching average people destroy music we all know and there is always a handful of people who can sing(my trophy wife but I’m a little bias) plus a few others. People watching was good. College art students are plentiful as are the professors arguing at the table next to us. I can’t make it up!!! Food was fried. Service was good. Prices were fair. I’d go back in a second when I return to town. I also hear the gas station across the street is a neat stop but I needed to save my energy for the walk back to the room.

McDonough’s was OK. Set your expectations correctly and you won’t be disappointed. It’s a bit divey, but has some good beers on tap and nice simple food. Service was very good and the menu priced right. I’d stop in again, but only if I’m looking for a burger and a beer.

Didn’t blow my kilt up. My friend is still pissed because she ordered a girly drink and the bartender was a douchetool about it. He came over later and tried the non-apology bit, but she was having none of it. She’s super high maintenance though, so there’s probably another side to the story. I don’t know, I was only halfway listening. Beyond that, they made Wifey a super strong LIT. She was unmanageable for a couple hours after that. So that’s a one-star upgrade from the one-star rating this place deserves. And, I was glad one bartender sort of talked me out of the house energy drink thing… so I walked over to the odd«not a 7 – 11, but very similar name» convenience store next door. This whole block is just weird. It’s like 8pm on a Friday night. Half Full of middle aged people who seemed to be friendly and well-lubricated. We had to kill a minute here. Because Wifey and Mrs. High Maintenance said so. This is why I don’t leave them in charge! You do that, and you can end up at McDonoughs,(cue the music) and you don’t want THAT! Ok, adding a star because they are open at 8 am. Annnnd the Bloody Mary is an instant Top 25 of my all-time BMs.
