This is just another typical subpar Japanese restaurant serving mediocre sushi. The restaurant is located in a more outdated strip mall, and the exterior appearance is not so pleasing for a restaurant that offers raw fish on the menu. This is a Chinese owned/operated restaurant, with a Korean guy that was recently hired as a server. The staff of this restaurant is actually stellar. They always have a smile, and always willing to go through the menu and serve you in a friendly manner whenever it’s needed. Since it is a Chinese owned restaurant, you will find your typical Chinese-Japanese style teriyaki, hibachi menu items. Nothing too grand or mouth-watering to write about however. The quality of the food is a B-(minus) at best, and if you’re used to the legit Japanese fare from the bigger cities, you will most likely be disappointed here. As a sushi fanatic Asian, this place is just an O-K, with decent prices for mediocre Japanese cuisine.

I ordered California roll and shrimp tempura udon. The roll and the shrimp tempura are fine but the udon was very blend. The cook is not Japanese.

Very average sushi. The wasabi had no heat at all. The best thing about this place is the wait staff and the ginger salad dressing. Would not go back.

This place rocks. I’ve been going here since 2005 and never had a bad meal yet. I love the sunset roll. And the owner introduced me to a really great mango dessert that is really refreshing. The bourbon chicken and the sesame chicken is the best I’ve ever had. Great staff always happy to serve your needs

We go to Sakura at least once a week… sometimes twice. The staff is great and friendly and they always welcome us as if we’re family. My wife either gets the Teriyaki Chicken or the Chicken Box. I either order Sushi or Sesame Chicken. There is better Sushi in Savannah, but I like the prices here. The Dragon Roll is good. I like ordering Salmon Nigiri. Stay away from the Hamachi Nigiri, they don’t cut it right and I’ve had bones in it more than once. The Hamachi(Yellow Tail Tuna) roll is good as is the Salmon roll. We generally spend about $ 30 including tip and soft drinks. Very affordable.

I have been coming to Sakura for years. Everything I’ve ever had here has been delicious. The service has always been fast and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend the tempura udon and/or the shrimp bowl, which are both amazing and very filling.

Always an enjoyable experience, we have been coming here for 10 years. There is a wide variety of sushi to choose from and meals to accommodate all eating needs. We are treated like family which makes it very welcoming

Very bad location. Priced well but not a pleasing atmosphere at all. Great parking but the inside is less an ideal. Food is ok at best.

Oh my god, this place rocks! They have a huge variety of sushi and nigri, everything is fresh fresh fresh. They have the best plumb wine I’ve ever tasted, oh and $ 50 for enough sushi to stuff 3 people! What more do you need in life?

I’m a college student who sometime work with an eating budget. Sakura has the best options for everything. Serving proportions are generous, so i am able to eat there and have plenty for later. Sushi was good and fresh as well.

I’m going to be straight forward. When you’re in the mood for some Japanese, this is the place! Service was good and so was the food, especially the sushi.

The food is good, the prices are good and our family enjoys eating at this restaurant. It is small, practical and not fancy but is a good value. I usually order the shrimp bowl. Yum!

I have boycotted this location because of how horrible the one on Broughton street has repeatedly been over the years. That location is the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to my entire life. But this location IS better than Broughton. Service here is great though the food is still lacking. There are much better options for sushi and Japanese food in this town. Today I was the worst food I’ve gotten there to date. Completely warm bowl of somewhat brown iceberg lettuce with some ginger dressing.

Not a bad spot if you are looking for a night out on the cheap. The sushi is marginal at best but the entrees are tasty!

They get 3 stars for the great food & service. The last star is for the amazingly good sashimi! It was great & also lots of it especially for the price. The sushi wasn’t bad, I just preferred the taste of the rolls downtown. But the sashimi was great & will be back!

You all have to excuse me… I’m from L.A. and still getting used to the way food is served here in Savannah. When I walked in, I didn’t expect to automatically take a seat, I thought someone was supposed to bumrush me with a menu. A pleasant surprise. Also, the food was fantastic! I had a combination bowl, with chicken and shrimp. I’m new to shrimp sauce, must be a southern thing as well, but it was also good, though I ate most of my meal without it. Super cheap food… my meal was about $ 10… would have been $ 7 if I didn’t ask for combination meat. A nice array of veggies in the bowl as well, and it’s not 75% white rice, like some asian bowls tend to be. Y’all know what I’m talking about. It’s recommended if you want decent Japanese-like food for a cheap price. Yes, I did say Japanese-like… I’ve been on the hunt for something truly ethnically authentic here in Savannah, and I keep coming up short. The«Mexican» sushi roll tastes good, though, based on the ingredients, there wasn’t much that was«Mexican» about it… yet another ethnic stretch. Nonetheless, it was tasty.

I found this place by mistake while exploring one day. I recently relocated to Savannah and I’ve been trying to find a good place to get Sushi. It is definitely a great place to get Sushi with friends. It is very unassuming but it gets the job done. I’ve tried a couple of Sushi places around Savannah and continue to find myself coming back. The service is quick and friendly as well. Everyone should atleast try it once. I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

I simply have to say: Gosh, I really like this place! First of all, Sakura is not a fancy sushi bar that focuses more on the décor than on the menu, and it does not have any ambitions to be Savannah’s answer to Nobu. Sakura is a small, clean, 8-table Japanese restaurant tucked away in an unassuming strip mall on the south side of Savannah that also hosts a low-rent beauty/nail parlor, a dry cleaner, and a Save-a-Lot grocery store. However, don’t let the location fool you –quality of service and food go a long way in my book, making this restaurant the«go to» recommendation for inexpensive sushi in this town. This is a «real» Japanese restaurant, not one of those ubiquitous hibachi/teppanyaki joints that serve glorified fried rice with mayonnaise posing as «shrimp sauce.» Sakura serves traditional fare such as Yaki Udon and Tamago Don that are without parallel in the Hostess City, unless you wish to fight for the very limited parking and absorb the high rent prices of places like Sushi Zen and Wasabi’s in the downtown historic district. Every meal starts out with their house salad, which is iceberg lettuce coated with a watery, highly addictive sesame-citrus-ginger-soy dressing. We invariably order the tempura for an appetizer every time we go, and are never disappointed with the fresh vegetables encased in a light, crispy shell. The sushi is fresh and tasty, and they will even entertain personal requests if you don’t see what you are looking for on the list of maki and hand rolls. Entrée portions are large without compromising on quality. Again, great place for really great food. I almost regret writing this review for fear that our little strip mall secret will get out, and the wait for a seat would be insufferable.
