A Violin Shop – Marchitto Violins

I happened to be in Schenectady the other day and wanted to have my violin tuned since I haven’t played it in several years. I called first to see if I could stop by and Frank and his son were really nice and encouraged me to come in to tune my violin and see if it needed to be oiled or restrung. Frank was nice enough to tune and clean it (for free!) and provide a few referrals for lessons since I told him I was new to the area. He shared some useful info about my strings and bow. He even gave me some tips about where to stop down the street in «Little Italy» once he found out I was part Sicilian. And finally, he encouraged me to come back in the future if I needed any repairs. I definitely felt welcome here and was more than happy that I found his shop!

Although I am fairly new to the strings world, I’m fairly experienced in the music world. Prior to entering the shop I was in contact with Frank concerning a violin upgrade. I found him to be warm and extremely receptive online.
When entering his shop, his warmth of personality and non-​aggressive manner was certainly inspiring! He let me try numerous instruments, which I’ve never had the opportunity previous to this. In the same regard he let me borrow a bow for trial, which I ended up purchasing.
I am currently trying out an old violin. I will certainly be back to shop and I foresee much business from me coming his way! Go there and support local music shops!!!

My violin sounds BEAUTIFUL! Frank Marchitto is knowledgable, helpful and competent. He did not reccomend anything superfluous and worked within my budget
He re-​haired my bow and built a new bridge for me. He re-​wired my bow grip and even put my new strings on for me while it was in the shop. I bought new Thomastik Dominant strings here.
He is easy to contact and resonably priced.
