Went to Cornell’s for a reception dinner after a vow renewal ceremony on Super Bowl Sunday. The room was decorated very nicely and the wait staff was very attentive to the guest’s needs. The food was absolutely delicious! Even the leftovers I took home were phenomenal! I wish I could give them a straight 5 stars. I had notified the staff that the appetizers ran out and not everyone had gone up yet. It was cheese, crackers, veggie hors d’oeuvres display and it was tacky not to refill it. Now, I don’t know if it was a money thing that the couple didn’t pay for«refills» so to speak. But even the soda and tea pitchers weren’t refilled. It was a small group of about 30– 35 of us so it really was a bit of a faux pas to run out of food and drinks.

Nothing to brag about except the desserts. Husband and I both had different veal dishes, Marsala and saltimbocca. The Marsala sauce was ok but had better and the veal was tough and only three tiny pieces. The garlic and olive oil side pasta was tasteless. The veal saltimbocca was plentiful but tough. Not going back.

Really disappointed. New owners/management. Quality of food and service has gone way down hill. There’s plenty of other great Italian restaurants in town to take my friends.

We decided to try Cornell’s on the strength of online reviews and were not disappointed. The service was great and the food was wonderful. The menu items are very reasonably priced and with the entries including a dinner salad this makes it an even better deal. No question we will definitely be back.

Went here on New Years Eve with my fiancée to celebrate our new engagement. It was ridiculously over priced($ 200) for the service we got. Wine didn’t come out until after the first course. What kind of a place is this? Food was only ok… nothing to rave about. Lobster bisque was actually quite unappealing. Waitress was over worked and provided poor service. In my opinion they shouldn’t offer a New Years Eve — 5 course special($ 70 ++ per head) if they can’t deliver the goods. It was a joke. Should’ve gone to Applebee’s so we could’ve at least gotten what we expected and paid a fair price for it. Not likely ever going back.

I heard about Cornell’s at work, everybody raved how good the food was so we made it a point to come here the next time we were craving some beef braciole. We didn’t have a reservation of a Friday night and instead chose to fly by the seat of our pants. Luckily they were able to accommodate us, but I’d definitely recommend reservations as it got quite busy despite how large the establishment is. The inside looks exactly what you would expect an upscale neighborhood Italian restaurant to look like. Very clean and elegant. Our waitress Nadine was fantastic, she was gracious, friendly, and made sure that we had everything we wanted. We ordered an app off the specials menu. It had tortellini, sausage, and I think some sort of braised beef(but don’t quote me on that)! It was quite good, not too salty, Marinara was respectable. My husband ordered the beef braciole. It was a generous portion, the marinara was savory and the meat tender. I must admit it was as good as the beef braciole at Vinny’s in Somerville, MA. #FirstWorldProblems. I ordered the baked Haddock. It was served in a buttery white wine sauce. Quite delicious! It had a nice crisp to the outside but tender on the inside. Both entrees came with a large plate of pasta. I assume it was homemade because it tasted fresh. Highly recommend this place for a date night!

Went there last night, it was decent. expensive I thought for my average dish. I had the cavatelli with chicken and broccoli, I guess I’m not that kind of pasta fan. I would go again to try the stuffed steak that sounded good 28 $ for that. good service, nice patio area except for the Harley testing strip next to it… Harleys lol… expensive loud look at me toys.

By far the best Italian in the area! Cornell’s never fails with great food, service, and overall atmosphere. The frutti di mare is to die for! Highly recommend to all!

My family of six stopped here on our way North and were delighted. We were in travel garb and they told us, «it’s fine come in and enjoy yourselves.» And we did ! My kids loved their pasta(of choice) and meatballs. My sister-in-law thoroughly enjoyed the chicken Marsala and my husband and I had the best linguini with clams(he had the red sauce and I had the white.) The clams were in their opened shells– fresh!!! And the flavors delectable. Plus, the service was great: friendly, attentive, and responsive. If you can go to Cornell’s– go!

We have always enjoyed Cornell’s and if has become our main«go-to» restaurant for celebrations. It’s clean, friendly and the food is always consistently delicious. Though we haven’t gone back in a while, we certainly will be soon.

Ate here with family on a visit to Albany. Was very satisfied. The food was quite good, and the service was impeccable. Our waitress was very engaging, and they always made sure our water glasses were full. Although the prices are a little high, you get a lot of food for what you pay. Our dinners came with a small salad, a side of pasta, and our main dish. I ordered the Chicken Milanese, which was a huge portion, and tasty. We also got the tiramisu for dessert, which hit the spot. If you are in town and want a nice Italian dinner, definitely check out this place.

Went to Cornell’s with family and friends before a play at Proctor’s. This was my first visit and will not be my last. Everything from the service to the food was excellent. You do not feel rushed when dining here which is a big plus to me. I am looking forward to my next visit.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. My family started coming here when I was a child(they were still at their old location) and I have spent every birthday, recital, graduation, and home-coming at this place. Even as kids, my sister and I always had a great time. Since we have grown, we have stopped wearing the salad olives on our fingers and swapped it for appreciating the wine and food. We will always miss the accordion they used to serenade us with though. Every time we go here we have the wonderful Calamari Marinara. Seriously, try it. It is honestly the best anywhere, and I have lived in San Francisco for three years(master chefs of everything). I am also a sucker for the Chicken Parm, although I have heard that the Stuffed Steak and the Veal Alfredo is amazing. My mother SWEARS by the Chicken Arrosto. Don’t listen to anyone who has a less than epic review. They either have dietary restrictions or are trying to split the check 1,000 different ways which in no way reflects on this fine establishments food or service.

I’ve been coming to Cornell’s since I was a child, back when they weren’t on Jay St(can’t think of the old street). Get three things: 1) Utica greens appetizer. It’s not on the menu, but order it. 2) Cavatelli 3) Tiramisu You’ll have leftovers to enjoy the next day. One of the greats!

Food was tolerable except for the steak which looked and tasted like they dumped an entire bottle of A-1 steak sauce on it. I didn’t eat more than a few bites and didn’t want it wrapped. But I will never go back– even at gun-point — because the waitress was rude, cold– made a joke in front of my family becasue I was eating bread from my salad plate. She kept mechanically saying– pardon the reach– as she made long grabs across our table. We had a nice view of Jay street and all the other family restaurants who survived because good service and the customers satisfaction were important at one time.

Overall the food was good and very tasteful. The portions were good size. The cold antipasto was limited in the selection and nothing too special. I ordered the veal parm with a side of ziti. The breading for the veal parm was different then I am used too. Cornell’s sauce is delicious and I would get the veal parm again. The service was very attentive and asked us up front if we were attending the show at Proctors. I’ve been here a half a dozen times and I would continue to visit and try new menu items.

This is THE place. Seriously, food is always consistently excellent and the service is top notch. We go here for any reason, but tonight we went to Cornell’s for our one year wedding anniversary. After we ate our meal we had a woman(perhaps the owner?) come over and ask us how our food was. Of course we said it was amazing(it was!) and told her it was our one year wedding anniversary. Shortly thereafter our waitress appeared with a slice of chocolate mouse cake on the house for us. It was a sweet surprise. Thank you for all that you do!

It was good. My parents took me here for dinner while were in Schenectady for my annual pilgrimage to the Electric City. My parents love this place. Usually they are pretty good with picking restaurants, but I wasn’t thrilled. They were able to accommodate my celiac diet requirements and I had the Chicken Romani(chicken with RRP, prosciutto, white wine butter and garlic) and the vegetables were broccoli or butternut squash(the purée type with brown sugar… which i love), which the latter I thought was an odd choice… which means I ordered that as my vegetable. The chicken was very tasty, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back to Schenectady to have it again. My dad says their pasta fagioli is the best he has ever had… even better than my mom’s(who despite being Irish, learned to cook with her Italian and Jewish neighbors as a kid… not joking). He also says that they make the best Manhattan in Schenectady County. The salad was unremarkable(I hate iceberg lettuce) It was a good meal. A-Okay in my book

Cornell’s is an upgraded red sauce place that’s become quite the scene for the locals in Sch’dy. We were there as a party of 4 on a Saturday night at 7 and the place was packed with folks already well into their dinners including a huge private party in a separate room. By the time we left 2 ½ hours later we nearly had the place to ourselves. I ordered a veal chop which was a special of the day and it was tender and not overdone but I’m sorry I had not gone for a sentimental breaded veal scallopini on my first visit. A tablemate shared her zuppa di pesce, varied seafood swimming in a delicious winey, buttery light red sauce atop some handmade pasta ribbons, and it was delicious. Other apps and a dessert were fine but unexceptional. We had a terrific server who was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive to our tastes, and appeared at just the right time to keep us progressing through the meal without being intrusive. As a transplant to this area, I had somehow formed the impression of Cornell’s as being somewhat dowdy old school place run by crotchety old Italian ladies(not that there’s anything wrong with that per se) charging high prices for mediocre food. Maybe that was true at one time, but certainly not now. The décor has been recently updated and it’s a sleek, pleasant dining destination. I shall return.

When I saw a deal for here on Living Social I was a little hesitant to buy because I’ve heard mixed reviews and specifically one of my friends had gone and disliked it. But $ 25 for $ 50 worth of food, I decided to take the risk. Going in with lowered expectations I was blown away. We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation but were still easily accommodated. The restaurant is much bigger than I expected so there were still plenty of tables open. The menu has a good selection of dishes that are original creations. The one thing that disappointed me was they were out of their homemade Cavatelli. That is what they are supposedly known for! How are you out at 7pm on a Friday night. So instead I ordered the Clams Bianco for an appetizer and the Veal Alfredo for dinner. The clams were steamed perfectly. Very tender and flavorful and sitting in a broth of white wine and garlic butter. There were about 15 large clams in the order, so it was well worth the $ 11. The Veal cutlet was enormous; pounded out nice and thin and fried crisp then topped with 2 Jumbo shrimp and covered in a buttery rich alfredo sauce. My gf ordered the stuffed steak which came with spinach and au gratin potatoes. It was huge and she said it was one of the better steaks she’s had. Overall, it was a great experience. One of the owners(I assume) was circulating throughout the restaurant to make sure everything was good. She was very friendly and made you feel welcome. Prices are a little on the high side if you don’t have a deal but the food is worth it and I would definitely return to try something else.
