Second visit. Had the lump crab Benedict. Real crab and perfect poached eggs. Really enjoy this place. A must go to in this area.

I went here for breakfast on a week day morning and it was a great experience. The establishment presented as clean and bright with sunshine from the big windows. The staff appeared to be happy and enjoyed working here. My coffee never reached half empty, as they diligently filled my mug often. This was my first visit and kept it simple with the breakfast order. I went with eggs over easy, hash browns, sausage, and wheat toast. It was all very good. The Union Café will be a my go to breakfast spot in the Nisky area moving forward.

What a great little place. It’s almost diner-esque mixed with a café. Warning it can get pretty crowded on the weekends so you may have to wait a little. They are extremely accommodating while you are waiting and offer you hot coffee. The service is also very good everyone is attentive and never keeps you waiting. In my most recent trip I tried a make your own omelette with sausage, onions, spinach and American cheese. This comes with a side of home fries and toast. It is a great portion size and the omelette was delicious the perfect amount of every component. Just the right amount of cheese which is often hard to do. The only thing I have to say is that I like my home fries more well done and these seemed to be more like just cooked potatoes with a dash of seasoning. Overall, great prices and a great place!

Union café is a cute little place on one of the busiest streets in schenectady(Union street). There’s parking on the street and in the back of the café. One great thing about this place is they have OUTDOORSEATING during the warmer months overlooking Union street. Outdoor seating is always a plus. We arrived around noon on Monday. First impressions as I walked in: It’s SO clean inside!!! Very casual & comfortable, and the waitresses are all bubbly and friendly!!! Only a few booths were full, our waitress came right over, coffee girls? Yep! Read my mind. She came back in the blink of an eye with freshly brewed coffee. I’m not a big coffee drinker but their coffee is great! Very impressed with the menu! Ive been to many diners in the area and the menus are so big it’s overwhelming to look through… And the food ends up being mediocre at best. Union café does it perfectly. They offer classic items such as wraps, burgers, triple decker sandwiches and salads but they also have«union café favorites» and Greek specialties. Also, they have a kids corner menu(for kids 12 and under). Meals such as chicken fingers and cheeseburger sliders that include french fries or apple sauce + soda or milk(ALLFOR $ 4.99)!!!(take a look at the pictures, I posted the entire menu for y’all). I went straight for the breakfast menu and ordered the cinnamon raisin French toast– they have both table syrup and real maple syrup(for an extra charge). My cousin ordered Greek salad with spanakopita(spinach pie) that they make HOMEMADE(you would be surprised the amount of «Greek style diners» sell FROZEN/BOXED spinach pie). Three THICK pieces of cinnamon raisin French toast drizzled with syrup and powdered sugar sure can make anyone happy AND in a food coma. It was so worth it. Our waitress came over frequently to fill up our coffee. All of the food was excellent. This is my new favorite breakfast(and potential lunch spot) considering it’s a two minute walk from my place. WINNNERWINNER!

This place is a one of a kind. Busy small brunch spot on Union Street close to the other shops, and businesses on Union. My husband had the steak and eggs special(13.99) his food looked and tasted great, eggs a bit bland and looked like maybe one scrambled egg but he enjoyed it. I had the short stack with house syrup, now the syrup is the sad kind the one you find in Smuckers plastic containers that’s usually left on the table, for any other upgraded syrup there’s an additional charge, which is kind of annoying for 2 pancakes you don’t get any fresh whipped butter or proper syrup, it was all in plastic… so my breakfast was a disappointment. Annette was really really nice. These four stars are for the excellent table service and she was happy to explain the menu and welcomed us to the neighborhood. Would I rush to come eat here, nope. Have I had better breakfast at diners in the Capitol region yes, several in Albany and Colonie. I liked the cozy feel and we got there before the Sunday Crowd, we came at 8:30 am and were seated immediately at a booth. Coffee comes with some of their house specials and they do have a limited lunch menu from what I saw.

Great place, very friendly. The Vito sausage is tasty, well worth the drive from Clifton Park.

Havent been back to this actual location since it used to be a Pizza Hut, but was pleasantly suprised to be welcomed to a cozy café that I had no idea existed. Nice vibe with a large selection of food(breakfast is served all day is always a plus!) and had a notable selection of Greek cuisine — to which we had the Spanakopita(excellent!) and a Souvlaki platter. Everything we ordered was satisfying and would definitely go back!

We live close by and this is our go-to breakfast spot. The eggs are always perfectly cooked and the hash is very well seasoned. We are always greeted at the door with a smile and seated as quickly as possible(can get busy on the weekends). I have not had anything on the lunch menu so I can’t comment about that. Overall, this is a great neighborhood spot that I highly recommend.

I recently went to Union Café for breakfast. While me and my boyfriend were eating breakfast he noticed a piece of hair underneath his toast. We decided not to say anything and continued eating. As he continued to eat he noticed another piece of hair on his eggs. We were totally grossed out and will not be returning back to the resturant again.

This café is never a disappointment. We live near by so we go here often for breakfast. On the weekends is quite busy but the wait is worth it. The staff is always friendly and attentive . Anything off the menu is going to be delicious. You will enjoy every bite. There are always breakfast specials as well. My favorite is the Irish Benedict. You must come here and try it!

The food here is ok. The portions are rather small and the food doesn’t seem too authentic. The good thing about this place is the salad as they aren’t cheap with the Feta Cheese and the dressing is quite good.

This is one of my favorite spots to take my kids. They love the Mickey Mouse pancakes. The food is great and the service is terrific. The owner is always figuring out where help is needed to make things flow smoothly and ensure guests are taken care of. We’ll be back again, and again.

I’m not an expert on greek food. I like greek food. But that’s as much as I know. My wife and I went for lunch recently, I ordered the gyro(lamb and beef aka two meats in one sandwich aka my kind of sandwich) and my wife had the souvlaki(hope I didn’t get that wrong). A gyro is most definitely a wrap in a pita, not a sandwich, and it was amazing. Meat was tender, juicy, not greasy, and had incredible flavor. The pita also had red onion and tomato with spices along with a tzatziki dressing which was like a garlicky amazing sauce perfect for the gyro. I loved it. My wife loves her souvlaki and also had eggplant fries. They were delicious. I had onion rings, and while I don’t think they were made in house, they were generous with the portion and they still were very good, cooked right. Most places skimp when you pay an extra 3 bucks for onion rings; not the case here. Also, I’m not a fan of outdoor eating(sad, I know). But Union Café’s patio has some appropriate shade from a nearby tree and they pay as much attention to indoor diners as outdoor diners; this is rare and deserves commending. I’d sit outside here again to tan up my pale skin. We liked it so much we ordered take out the following day. My wife got a greek salad with souvlaki, I repeated my gyro. Her salad was fresh, all ingredients were delicious and there was no brown lettuce. My gyro, once again, was awesome. On top of that, they said 25 – 30 minutes for the order to be ready. I arrived at like 22 minutes, and seriously 4 minutes later the food came out, hot(salad cold) and fresh. I appreciate when a restaurant has a handle on how long the food actually takes(I hate when someone says ’30 minutes’ and you get there and it has clearly been sitting). We will be back. We will eat more. Despite my current love of their gyro, I will expand and try more. I highly recommend Union Café.

Friendly waitstaff, clean place, quick service, good portions, and great use of technology. Very nice owner who clearly was trying to clear tables and sit people quickly so they were not waiting. Cannot wait to return to this restaurant again in the future, and Schenectady because it is truly a nicely settled area that you should visit!
