Overall not a great experience. The clam chowder was watered down and we had multiple shell pieces in our clam chowder. Couldn’t eat it. We got a refund for one of the soups but it was horrible. Won’t be back. Peteys in Rye seems to be a lot better.

If I could give a lower raring I would. it’s a sin to throw away lobster like we did. we got the platter with lobster for 27 something and the clams were dirty the scallops were rubbery and the lobster and haddock was Un eatable. I grew up loving this place so this is hard for me. the help was rude. to busy hitting on each other to care about quality. food was bland and sad. I will never eat there again. for the price we paid it should be great. Sorry for the bad review. Peace. sea Crest out…

On the last day of October my wife and I came here. Her lobsters were great. However I had the combo of haddock and clams, and my stuff was way overdone. They didn’t care when I brought it to their attention. I guess this place has gone downhill. Will think about going across the street in the future.

We ended up at Markey’s because the place across the street was super busy, and we had a 6-week old baby in tow. We thought we made the right choice, it smelled great and was very clean. That’s where the good parts end… After ordering & spending $ 60+, we waited less than 10 minutes for our order, and looking at our tray was pretty evident why. All the food looked like it was thrown on, literally. My daughter & I had a lobster roll and clam roll($ 15+ & $ 13+), respectively~that’s all you get, no fries, no coleslaw. These are served on hot dog rolls, toasted, but for the price, esp. with no extras, it was disappointing to the point I asked a server about it. Though I had an overflow of clams, they were not at all tasty. My daughter’s lobster was shredded in the roll, prompting her to say, «Now we know why everyone’s across the street!» Dad’s clam plate, fries on the bottom with a few clams on top, and even looking at it, did NOT look like a $ 25 meal, nor did it taste it. He was still hungry after eating. The only reason we(mostly) finished our meals is because we were pretty hungry, and for what we paid, but vowed as we walked out the door, we will NEVER be back!!!

We’ve used to come here 3 or 4 times each summer. It is nothing special, a typical lobster in the rough joint. The place is more than a little worn — it could use a major updating. One our last visit our lobster was way undercooked. When we brought it back and showed the kid at the lobster station we were told that all they can do for us is to boil it some more — well once the shell is cracked open that won’t work!!! We will be having our lobster and steamers at Brown’s for now on.

Markey’s is the tradition in our family, and we go at least once a summer. Being gluten and dairy-free, it’s not easy to dine out for me. For the first time, I ordered the lobster salad plate($ 20.50) and was very happy. The meal consists of a LOT of lobster salad, cole slaw, French fries, and 3 slices of pink tomatoes. I didn’t eat the fries as I assumed they would have been fried in the same oil as gluten-coated chicken nuggets and onion rings. You can order without fries or get them on a separate plate for your friends if you’re GF. I think there’s a lobster and a half to two lobsters in this meal — no whole tails as they likely keep those for frying – but very good meat and a great option for GF people like me! Not much mayo which is why I like it.

Lobster Rolls It’s a seafood shack, plain and simple. They item to try is the lobster roll. A packed roll with claws and tail meat never too chopped up. No lettuce no very little mayo. Tip: Ask for a side of drawn butter. It’s cash only and the roll will set you back 15 bucks but it’s worth it. People like Brown’s but Markey’s is my choice. Try them both and make your decision. The lobster roll was pretty good, but it lacked flavor. Another person in my party agreed. The onion rings were disappointing. They had little flavor to them. Overall, this place wasn’t terrible, but nothing to write home about. Middle of the road place, 3 stars.

We tried the fisherman’s party with fried lobster and a lobster roll. The lobster roll was excellent with a few claws thrown in. The fisherman’s platter was also very good. The fried scallops were out of this world, but I didn’t think the fried lobster was good. It was very chewy and somewhat tasteless but I feel that had more to do with the preparation than the quality of the lobster. There’s two parking lots available, one is beyond the Tripoli Pizza next door. The bathrooms are not clean and the door gap in the stall is extremely wide so I’d try to do that business elsewhere. Cash only, but an ATM is on site.

I went to this establishment a few times when I was a kid so I have some fond memories of this place. Last weekend I went here for the first time in years with my wife. Markey’s is a decently large seafood joint with some outdoor seating. When you enter, there are 3 locations to order food. One location is for general food, another location is for ordering lobster, and the last location is ordering beer, mussels, and clams. I shared with my wife a fisherman’s platter with fried lobster and a lobster roll. Portions were good as the lobster roll was hearty and the platter was overflowing with excellent tasting fried seafood. This is a fun place to go with friends or family. They only take cash so be prepared. The parking lot fills up quickly, but there is a parking lot that is a small walk away from the restaurant.

Why is their clam chowder so runny? Is it that hard to throw some seasoning on the fried seafood? I like the atmosphere of Markey’s and their swiftness getting orders out. But their food needs help.

Not our first seafood rodeo and we weren’t impressed. Cash-only, like the neighbor across the street… but this place sells beer. The ordering process is unnecessarily confusing with three different counters, depending on what style of food you want. So your family potentially has to pay 3 different times before you’re even ready to sit down. The food just wasn’t good. They do a battered seafood as opposed to the neighbor’s cornmeal. Also without any seasoning. What’s with these places? A little pepper or Old Bay would go a LONG way. Most of the batter tasted under-cooked with a weird grainy feel while the seafood inside was overcooked. A lobster tail should never be abused that way. We could(literally) hardly chew them. The clams were overtly sandy and mealy. The employees were nice… so there’s that. Overall, not a great dining experience and less-than-mediocre food. We didn’t go back.

We stopped here as we tooled around New England — to bring my spouse up to 50 states visited. That said, we LOVE lobster, and had to pick between Markey’s and Brown’s. My wife had cherry stone clams for the very first. time. Delicious! The odd? We wanted female lobsters, hoping to get the roe. They asked if wanted the eggs«washed out» — we said HUH? Seems the locals don’t like the eggs? We said, keep the eggs for sure, they even wrote it on the receipt. In asking — they said — well, you have to cook the lobster longer to make sure the eggs are«cooked», and the meat gets tough. We said, cook the female lobster just as you would the male! The reply — well, some of the eggs may still be black. — hmmm — we love caviar — go for it. And yes, we had eggs, and some were black and some were red — and ALL were delicious — the meat was perfect, the eggs were perfect, and the cherrystone clams were great as well. We just had to make sure they knew what we wanted. Oh — and bring CASH.

A trip to Hampton, Exeter or Salisbury is not complete without making a stop at Markey’s or Brown’s. Literally. You pass by it on your way to the beach and you pass by it on your way home! Markey’s has a lot in front and to the side of the establishment and also a little lot a way’s a way by a dairy counter(like a 2 min walk). When you walk into the left most door, you’ll be situated before the indoor counter where you’re able to order your food. Over the past few years, there have been many upgrades– one of these includes its menu plastered all over these huge flat screen TVs. Honestly, it makes ordering so much easier! The seeing impaired are able to view the menu from all over. Therefore, this cuts down your wait time in line and makes getting your food faster. Wait time for food is always dependent on what you order, but I’ve never waited more than 15 – 20 min for deliciously fried decadence. Unlike Brown’s, Markey’s is NOTBYOB. Markey’s has a little bar where you’re able to order glasses, cups or pitchers of beer. ** THISPLACEISCASHONLY! For whatever reason, I always forget… At least there’s an ATM right by the ordering counter.

After a visit to both Brown’s and Markey’s, I have to say that my preference is to Markey’s, hands down. The staff is much friendlier. The atmosphere is a bit nicer(although still very casual). I also felt the prices were much better. I got a twin lobster combo for around $ 26 and that’s what I paid for one lobster at Browns(similar size being 1 ¼−1 ½lb). The butter at Markey’s is a salted butter whereas at Brown’s it seems to be unsalted and a bit plain. We are officially a Markey’s family and will definitely be returning!

My favorite thing about business trips to other utilities is finding awesome places to go for lunch. Since I was near the coast I new I had to find some seafood, Seriously this place and Browns is right next to each other and I decided on Markey’s because the prices were marginally cheaper(gotta pinch them pennies). My buddy and I split their lobster roll, and a fried clam/scallop platter with fries. The lobster roll was definitely the favorite here, the sweetness of the meat coupled with the buttery toasted bun made for one delicious mouthful. The clams and scallops were also very tasty. They were lightly breaded and packed with flavor. The only reason this wasn’t a five is because a few things seemed like an afterthought. It isn’t hard to make fresh fries and when everything else on the plate is phenomenal, its shocking to eat fries I could buy at the grocery store. If I pay $ 14 for a lobster roll, I would expect it to come with fries. The tartar sauce needed a little more punch, you really had to douse your fried food with some sauce to get that flavor to come through. Also put out some lemon wedges, who doesn’t like to squeeze some lemon juice on their fried seafood. If I’m ever in the area I would definitely go again, this place is really good with the potential to be great. If they treated all items on the menu with the same respect as the seafood they would hit it out of the park.

After doing some research on some good fresh lobster with a nice view in the New England area, we ended up coming here on our way to Maine. Was really happy we made the decision to come here! Parking wise, their main parking lot is pretty tight, we didn’t realize it until later that they have a larger parking lot if you drive a little past the restaurant. Next time we go there we will definitely park over there. The restaurant is pretty large with lots of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the water. Ordering wise, since it was our first time was kind of confusing. Basically there are 3 ordering stations: one for fried foods, one for lobsters, and one for beer and steamers. We ended up trying the fresh lobsters, steamers, corn, chowder, and fried oysters. The lobster’s were cooked and tasted perfect! The shell’s here are pretty soft compared to other lobster’s we tried in the boston area. My other half also got really lucky as her lobster had eggs. Price wise, couldn’t go wrong as it was 20 dollars for 2 medium lobsters. As for the corn on the cob, it goes perfect with the lobster. The steamers were very fresh, like most folks have probably said, the steamers included that outer skin part so you would have to remove that before eating. Also you will occasionally get a sandy taste in some of the clams. The fried oysters were one of the best i’ve tasted, so crispy and no fishy taste at all. I only wished i ordered the larger order of this! The clam chowder unfortunately was too watery for me. Not sure if that’s their style or not, but I guess we prefer the creamy and thicker style. Would of given this place 5 stars if not for the clam chowder. Overall we were happy to come to this restaurant for the reasons mentioned above.(food, price, view) Definitely will come back next time were up here, well worth the drive!

Catching up on reviews… was here last August 12th during vacation to east coast. They had 2 whole lobsters(1−¼−1-½ lbs) for $ 21.99 only! What a bargain! compared to the fine dining. A very casual restaurant, you order and pick up and find seats. Ordered corn with our lobsters and oh boy! can’t get enough of it! Therefore on our last day, we had to go back to Markey’s for last lobster treat! This time we had 2 orders — 4 lobsters total!!! YUMMMMMMMM!!! We also tried the clam strips and it was good too. Next time we’ll try the lobster and crab roll. We drove 30 minutes from our hotel in Tewksbury, MA to Seabrook, NH! :) it was so worth it!
