7th & Pike Garage – Grand Hyatt Self Parking

Parking was $ 8 flat as advertised. We parked in the hours allowed for this rate.
No theft occured to our car; however, parking lot is very dark in many areas. This encourages theft.

Car was broken into, window smashed in, shattered glass everywhere. Attendant on duty was apathetic. Never sent anyone to clean up the glass everywhere. We sat there for 40 minutes to wait for police to file a report, not one maintenance member came to clean up glass, so we had to walk around in it, to see how much of our stuff was stolen. Manager, Peter, showed up later, offered to reimburse half the the parking fee ($ 60 out of $ 120) to try and help us make up for the cost of the window replacement $ 220, and the stolen luggage, that was later found, but some clothes missing. They were strewn about in a dirty stairwell. Hotel security said they found glass and rocks in my clothes that were all over the ground. If you’re going to let the drug addicted vagrants wander in and out of the garage, at least put cameras or have a security guard watching over people’s cars, properties, and personal belongings. After they smashed the window in, they climbed in and rummaged through all my things, flipped things over, and left foot prints on the dash board. It’s a sense of violation. I understand one garage attendant cannot watch several floors, but if you’re charging people for a service, and you knowingly let criminals wander in and out. at least pay more attention… for your customer’s sake. And when they are vandalized… pretend to care, and keep your word!

Weird that I’m writing a review on a parking garage, but I think the reason behind it was because I was jammed inside late at night. And I pushed the button and someone came out to my rescue within like 60 seconds. The pricing is still outrageous, but realistically where in Seattle is pricing for parking ever cheap?

I’ve parked here about 5 times before. 3 times out of that 5, I’ve had a fairly good experience. That prevents me from giving them a flat 1.
One time I did encounter the false price advertisement that others have stated, where they ended up charging me $ 30 instead of $ 8. The fine print on the sign later informed me that it was my fault, but not before I got really annoyed. Lesson learned, but I’ve gotten the $ 8 deals 3 other times before without bothering to read the details.
The REAL reason I am giving this lot a low review is due to my recent safety concern. My car (2006 Audi A4) had its front window smashed in and some of my stuff stolen while parked here. This occurred between 8 and 11pm on a Saturday, 4^th floor.
The parking lot attendant was VERY unhelpful, and didn’t seem at all concerned that a theft happened in their lot. They told me they didn’t have any cameras anywhere but on the 2^nd floor, and didn’t offer any help with my police report. His lack of reaction makes me feel like this type of incident occurs a lot here, so I’ll pretty much never want to return now.
The attendant also didn’t offer to help me clean up any of the broken glass, so I moved some of the bigger chunks myself since I didn’t want to accidentally hurt someone else.
To top it off my annoyance, they offered to let me move my car MYSELF to their second floor so «it’ll be safer». Thanks, but no thanks. I think I’ll just go home.
When I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor about my incident and safety concerns at their lot, the attendant told me he was the supervisor. Shady.
I’ll definitely be calling them again tomorrow morning and finding the real boss.
All in all I’m very disappointed in this lot. I really wanted to love it, with its low price and great hours, but I really can’t recommend it anymore. An unsafe atmosphere, terrible attendants, and some shady business practices sum up why.
At 3 out of my 5 experiences being alright, your experience here will probably be fine. Probably.
But now whenever I see its $ 8 price, a little voice in my head says «you get what you pay for».

I was compelled to write a review sort of as a response to Jeff M.‘s review about how this place is a ripoff/​scam/​false advertisement. No way! He must have parked outside the hours advertised and then blamed it on the garage. We parked on a Saturday after 5AM and were out before midnight and were only charged the advertised $ 8. During the week you need to park between 3PM-​midnight to get the same deal.
This garage is a super convenient location and a great deal!

I stored my bicycle here this summer in August. I can’t believe it was stolen, under their surveillance. Though I know I didn’t pay them so I couldn’t expect any compensation, bike being stolen itself was enough for a worst comment. Also, what they did to fix it up is nothing but explaining what the suspect looks like and how strange he behaved (yes their staff saw him) and sent me to the police. They said it was the first bicycle having been stolen ever. Eh!

False advertising — the ad said $ 8.00 flat rate for parking If you exit by midnight. We were charged $ 30.00 tonight! I am very disappointed! We went to the Hyatt hotel and they agreed it was false advertising, but they said they did not own the parking lot although it is connected to the hotel.
I tried to call the phone number on the card, but it said the voicemail has not been setup.
I guess I need to dispute the charge with my bank…

Weird to review a parking lot, I mean all it does is sit there. However, if you’re staying at the Grand Hyatt, this place offers less expensive parking than the hotel valet (although at $ 28 bucks a day it’s certainly not cheap).
You can get in and out privileges although it’s not entirely clear from the signage or from the information at the front desk. Let the attendant know that you’ll be coming back.

I had to drive around for a long time before finding a spot. BUT— this garage’s «early bird special» is good until 10 a.m., whereas most garages and lots downtown end at 9 am or 9:30.
$ 14 for 12 hours is not bad either, given the prime location…

If you must drive into downtown Seattle and pay for parking, This is a fairly good option. It’s a short walk to Pike Place Market, and even closer to many other downtown landmarks. Pacific Place and Westlake Center (where you can eat sweet and sour chicken at one of its food court’s 17 asian restaurants… or catch the super awesome monorail to Seattle Center), the Seattle Public Library, and the Convention Center are all very close by. As an added bonus, it is located on top of the Cheesecake Factory – which is only really useful if you ever get trapped inside of the structure in an earthquake or some other natural disaster. In such a case, if you can manage to make it to the Cheesecake Factory, you’ll be able to eat for YEARS. of course, you won’t last a week without suffering some sort of coronary blockage and your obesity will only complicate any sort of rescue effort.
It’s not the cheapest parking, but if you get in before 10AM, it’s only $ 14 for the day. This is comparable to many other local garages, but 7^th and Pike has one of the nicest layouts – it’s simple, doesn’t have a lot of tight, blind corners and the spaces are the widest I’ve seen in the city. The Ceiling height is average; I’ve seen a lot of standard SUVs in there, but if you drive a large pickup with unnecessarily large tires, jacked up with chrome naked lady silhouette mud flaps and douchey bumper stickers, you’ll want to find somewhere else to park. Spokane, maybe.
You can enter and exit the garage from either 7^th or 8^th Ave and when you pull your ticket from the entry gate, they remind you not to leave your laptop in your car. I know it’s not a lot, but really, think about how often you’ve been getting some work done on your morning commute and accidentally left your computer open, sitting on your passenger seat. I know, right?
The elevators are slow, so give yourself an extra 20-​or-​so seconds in the morning. I usually find it faster to take the stairs down when exiting, although the doors are locked, so don’t try to take them back up. Each floor is marked with both a uniquely colored number and a hand displaying the number with its fingers. I like to park on the fifth floor, so I can high-​five the hand on the wall. I suggest you do the same.
Parking attendants are nice, attractive and rather efficient, make paying for parking a little easier.
Beyond that, I’d suggest you just take the bus into town. Or better yet, ride your bike.

Welcome to the best garage downtown. Exits/​Entrances on both 7^th and 8^th streets, providing easy access to I-​5. Elevators located on both Pike Street and 7^th Street, inside the Grand Hyatt entrance. The rows and slots are wider than most, and it’s oh so warm in the winter. While it’s continually being patroled by security, it has its share of break-​ins during the holiday season. I’ve witness employees wiping down the inside of the elevators as well as mopping up spots on the concrete. It’s very clean and cared for. The worst thing is that there are no stairs to take up, and the two elevators on the Pike Street side are slower than molasses and are rarely running at the same time.
If you park before 10 a.m., you can stay all day for $ 13. Not bad! But if you’re planning to shop or run into the Cheesecake Factory for a quick bite, it will cost you at least $ 7 (ouch!). Check for validation. If you’re a monthly customer (as I am), the garage is open to you 24-​hours.
