These Goldbergs are big winners in the category of Quick Sandwiches at Convention Centers. I came by when the Seattle Convention Center was empty and didn’t have to wait in line at all. You can imagine, however, that there are long lines when several thousand people have converged on the center for a meeting. I ordered a corn beef sandwich with a can of Dr. Brown’s cream soda. My sandwich was a plausible imitation of the Real Thing but wouldn’t pass muster(yellow, spicy or dijon) in Brooklyn or even Santa Monica. I’ll have no problem coming back, however. Even when it’s convention time, you gotta eat!

I was working during a recent convention and didn’t have the chance to leave our booth. My co-worker ran down to grab us sandwiches from Goldbergs and we were very pleased at the quality of our lunch. My BLT had plump tomato slices, thick-cut bacon, and fresh crusty bread. I savored the hell out of that sandwich and would definitely return during another convention. I’ve had better pickles though. During the rest of the convention, I noticed the queues were always long for this place. Attendees are usually a captive audience but if the food’s not good, the folks won’t return.

Hoping I don’t become ill… grilled hot dog was too gross to eat… knish was MICROWAVED, heated unevenly and served with lumpy, tepid gravy. Overall, a huge disappointment.

This place used to make a good sandwich, but they have changed hands and they don’t make sandwiches any more. The website said they are open till 5 pm, but when I walked 6 blocks to get there and walked in at 2:03 pm, they said they were closed and refused to serve me. The snarky woman behind the counter made several lame excuses why I go no service. So Goldbergs, thanks for the bracing 12 block walk, but not for anything else. Try the NYC Deli at 15207th Ave, just around the corner.

Went in during Sakura-con for dinner. Huge corned beef sandwich, grilled, thick with plenty of meat and sauerkraut. Sarah had a half turkey and it was enough to fill her up. Delicious! The staff was really friendly and super fast. Great food, will go back again.

We were working at the Northwest Flower & Garden Show this week, and on Monday after the show we were there to finish tearing down our garden display. We had a break and I went down to Goldberg’s and grabbed a pastrami on rye for lunch. It came with a serving of coleslaw and a half a pickle. Tasty and juicy — both the pickle, and the sandwich. When I got back upstairs someone asked me about the food. I told them that truthfully, it was not the best pastrami I’d ever had, but that it was probably the best pastrami sandwich I’d ever had here in Seattle.(I grew up and lived in NY — the last time I lived there I was about 6 blocks from ‘Pastrami King’ on Queens Boulevard, where they made their own pastrami & corned beef in the basement, so I have a pretty high bar to clear.) If 5-stars is a NY pastrami, heaped too high to bite properly, this is a solid 4. The sandwich I got from Goldberg’s was excellent. The rye was a little softer than I usually like(it started falling apart while I ate), and the pastrami could have had a little more seasoning, but overall I was happy with the product, service, and price. I’d definitely eat there again the next time we’re near the Convention Center.

Sandwiches are decent, really big but the roast beef can be a little stale tasting at times. Almost like it’s overcooked or has been sitting in the fridge for a little to long. Normally I would think the price was to expensive for a sandwich but these are big so I get it. Not a lot of side options… just coleslaw and potato salad but the potato salad is pretty good. I like the people a lot but the owner is scary. Whenever he is there he looks really angry and not friendly at all and he hovers over the employees like he thinks they’re going to steal something right in front of him. I get a really creepy feeling from him. If I see him there I don’t go in. The old manager James was a rock star but he has since left… hopefully for greener pastures.

SOOOOOGOOOOOD!!! A previous reviewer mentioned a Seinfeld-esque vibe to the place and I completely agree! Babka… chocolate babka, cinnamon babka, and don’t forget the perfect dessert of the black and white cookie… I digress… They have the friendliest service! I’ve been several times now, and I’m always greeted in a friendly manner. I’ve gotten the chicken salad sandwich and it’s really good — even better than Potbelly’s. For a half sandwich, chips, drink it was around $ 10. So not bad for the amount of food you get — they also give you a choice of coleslaw or potato salad with your sandwich and they give you a pickle. The only reason I took off a star is because my potato salad was room temperature the last time I went which is concerning. Their service is quick, friendly, and they give you a lot of food for the price. I definitely have a new go to lunch spot!

If you are a fan of Seinfeld you would love this place! The black and white cookies. THe chocolate and cinnamon babkas… That aside the sandwiches were delicious. Good serving size and tons of fillings. The breakfast burrito is good too.

I recently had a monster of a Reuben sandwich in downtown Seattle. I had training at the WA State Convention Center and while I was trying to find the meeting room I passed by Goldberg’s. The gal at the counter was very friendly and I got my food in a timely manner. My sandwich was giant! I couldn’t finish all of it. I’m glad that I grabbed a couple of napkins because it got a little messy. $ 14.22 is what I paid for the sandwich, pickle, and potato salad. I normally wouldn’t pay this much for a quick lunch but it was really good. I was a little leery about eating the potato salad since the pre-portioned containers were just sitting out in the open instead of the refrigerator. Luckily I didn’t get food poisoning. The downtown retail core lacks a good sandwich spot and this place makes up for it. It wasn’t that busy when I was there and I think it’s because not a lot of downtown workers know about it. I think when people find out that it’s there, the line will be long just like Tat’s, Calozzi’s, and Delicatus. It’s nice that they distinguish that it’s a to-go place because the convention center’s dining area is kind of stale. There’s always the Chase Tower on the 17th floor for an Elliott Bay view or the Westlake Mall food court. Enter the Convention Center from 7th& Pike. Walk up to the concierge and they can literally point to the restaurant from where they’re standing.

OMG, So Good. Goldbergs’ 2 Go, inside the Washington State Convention Center(First Level, Suite 13), is a satellite location of Goldbergs’ Famous Delicatessen, at the Factorial Mall, in Bellevue. I had the Hot Reuben Combo,(Corned Beef and THEBEST Pastrami I have had in the Northwest, hot Sauerkraut, Swiss Cheese and Russian Dressing on grilled Rye Bread), Coleslaw and Dill Pickles /$ 12.99. Delicious! My Better-half had a classic Hot Pastrami Sandwich(she says THEBEST Pastrami She has had in the Northwest, Havarti Cheese on Rye Bread), Potato Salad and Dill Pickles /$ 11.95. She says the Potato Salad is wonderful, and the Pastrami is phenomenal! We had bookmarked the original Goldbergs’ Deli in Bellevue in Unilocal as a place we wanted to try — must have seen it on some food program — when she noticed Goldbergs’ 2 Go was a block from our timeshare. We went by to check it out. The store(actually, the entire Convention Center) is super clean, and the service was fast, friendly, and the cashier offered to make our sandwiches any way we liked. Great service. As the name says, Goldbergs’ 2 Go, the food was packaged appropriately for travel, with a separate paper boat for the sandwich, closed containers for the salad and slaw, the pickles separately bagged, all inside a clear hinged clamshell. Great attention to detail, very respectful of the customer. One cautionary note: the hours posted online and in their brochure do not jive. I checked with James, who said their hours are 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday, EXCEPT when there is Convention activity, and they have extended hours. So call and confirm. Five Stars.
