Dave’s Appliance Rebuild

We have an old 1940s stove/​oven and Dave’s was the only place that would even attempt to fix. He was able to replace a burner, fix the oven, and the oven door — all for a reasonable price. We were very satisfied with the work and customer service. It helped prolong the life of a trusty old appliance.

Yes, very pleased with Dave’s service. Dave repaired my (1973) G. E. Electric double oven stove. The problems were, non-​working lower oven, one of the surface burners was out, got the fan working and lights in both ovens. Yes, I am very pleased as I just am not read to let go of my 1973 not quite Vintage stove. I felt his charges were very reasonable.

Quick, pleasant and very reasonable oven repair – couldn’t ask for better than that! We have a vintage 1940s range with a thermostat that needed to be replaced, and we wanted an accessible gas shutoff valve installed since the stove weighs a ton and once it’s wedged into cabinetry, pulling it out would be a nightmare. Dave himself called ahead, came on time, clearly knew what he was doing, and finished the job quickly and efficiently, and I thought the charge was more than reasonable. Enjoyed a brief chat about old stoves too.

Terrible customer service. Would NOT come back here. Dude is grouchy and seemed totally inconvenienced (even though the place was empty) by having a customer with questions. He was almost mean. I wanted to like this place because it’s super close to my home, local and they have a few cute vintage appliances but NO. Not coming back here. No, never.

This is a RAVE about Dave’s. For less than $ 175, Dave replaced the switch in my clothes washer and it’s as good as new. (I’ve had it since 2002.)

Do not do business here. The worst customer service ever. Nobody will call you back. They do not want to make it right for you. They will blame you for their mistakes.

I have been a landlord since the 80s, back when this place was known as «Reasonably Honest Dave’s.» I have worked with them on several occasions and in general I felt that I got what I paid for. If you buy a refurbished appliance, there is some risk, but that is why it is so cheap. I suggest dealing directly with the owner; it sounds like it is hard to find good staff in this business.

I bought a rebuilt dryer from Dave’s in early fall. I waited to write a review to see how the dryer did, and it’s been great: quiet, dries clothes quickly, clean (not rusty). Delivery was simple and they were on time. Overall, I had a great experience with them. Price is negotiable, so be sure to try to haggle with them.

Another «if I could give them zero stars I would» review.
Looking for a simple lid switch. They’re anywhere from $ 2.50 to $ 8 online. But I’m trying to do the right thing and go local. I get a guy on the phone, sounds like he’s baked, takes him five minutes to tell me, «Yeah, uh, okay, I’ve got ‘em, they’re uh, about $ 60.» About? $ 60? I told him they’re less than $ 10 online.
Pffft.

I really wanted to like Dave’s. They’re in my neighborhood and stopping in once, they seemed really friendly and knowledgeable. So when our refrigerator started acting a fool and my girlfriend wanted to call somebody in Redmond, I said, «Let’s give the local guys a shot.» My bad. Dave’s bad. Here’s what happened:
I call Dave’s on Friday. Give my info. He says he might be able to get out that day.
No show, no call from Dave’s. I call Saturday AM. Guy says if I called friday he couldn’t make it and would be out or call on Monday. I call monday to confirm I’m in queue. Guy doesn’t even have my info. Takes it again. Monday afternoon, I get a call. Guy says earliest he can be out is 10 days from now. Lame. And I’m less than a half mile from these guys.
If you can’t make it, no sweat. You’re busy. But you didn’t take my info and you didn’t put me on any sort of list. You could also call and let me know you’re not going to be there.

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I set up an appointment to have an oven repaired with three different guys. I made my booking a week in advance because they said that «was the earliest they could promise». Went all the way through gave the address to the building and everything. So the day before my appointment arrives and I call to make sure everything was in order. Whichever meat answered the phone proceeds to tell me he has no record of my booking and that «the earliest he could promise» was friday. As a landlord who cares about our tenants this company is completely unreliable. I will never do business with these guys again and you should follow suit. Completely unreliable and unprofessional.

My stove konked out and Dave’s sent a repairman right out and fixed it pronto. Whew! It never fails that your stove goes out when you have guests coming over for dinner.
I also needed to purchase a new stove for a rental property and I found a nice one at Dave’s for half as much as anywhere else.
Yeah!

Never again.
I called Daves based on reputation, recommendation and reviews. I had a washing machine that was broken. I scheduled a week in advance, explained that I was staying home from work in the AM so they said they would make me their first call of the day. This clearly was not the case when the repair guy strolled in at 10:30.
The guy who answers the phone sounds like he is completely baked and is rude.
Repair guy quoted me $ 300 for the fix. I gave him my credit card info and left for work (later than I anticipated or had approved with my boss). When I got home there was no receipt or any paperwork saying what he had done or how much it cost. I had to call the store, track the guy down and have them mail me a receipt. When I got the receipt the total was $ 375.
A few days later I go to do laundry. Everything is rinsing in hot water. Again scheduled with them 4 – 5 days in advance. This time left instructions with my building management to let him in. I get home the night of the repair and nothing had been touched. I called the store and stoned boy tracks down the repairman who says the office was closed so he left.
He finally came out the following day and seems to have fixed the water mix up. But, again, no note, receipt or anything.
Next time I am calling Sears.

Dave can do anything.
I wish I could be that vague and leave just a 4 word review but it would be doing Dave a great disservice. Whether you need a stove fixed, a vacuum or you need to order some weird part, Dave has your back. I was super impressed with this help and if I ever need it again, I’ll be back ASAP.

Dave’s is one of the few places in town that works on old vintage stoves. We had to schedule a couple weeks out, but Dave came over (being flexible with his day) and did a great job checking out our old Wedgewood gas stove. Was very friendly and knowledgeable, replacing the main gas line and checking out all the burners/​oven etc. He tested it on propane, but he was right about everything as we discovered when we had the stove brought in and hooked up to natural gas. It works great. Watching him do his work helped me understand how the stove works and we were able to do any final adjustments ourselves.
