A bear bar with solid goddamn pours, as all the others have said. Just like it says on the tin. What more could a man ask?

Awesome pours. Good company. Not bad for first gay bar I’ve been to in Capitol Hill. Apparently a bear bar. But I would say anyone is welcome. I’m not a bear but felt extremely welcomed!

This is a great place to go and have a great time! I call it the Man’s Bar and for good reason that is what it is a man’s bar real men and you will be mad to feel so welcome. The staff and owners are great people as well! If you have not gone then you should give it a try. Great place!

My first time in Seattle and the bar is awesome, the bartenders were amazing, the staff very welcoming and crowd very eclectic.

Diesel is one of my very favorite places in Seattle. The bartenders are super nice, the drinks are strong, and the vibe is as butch as it gets without ever being mean. There’s even an awesome hot dog stand down the street on the weekends. It’s the full package(pun intended.) I’m the furthest thing from a bear you will find and I always feel welcome. Also, I have met great people there – bears and the bear-adjacent, lesbians, new-to-town gays, once some random people from a conference who wandered in and were nonetheless awesome. Not to mention plenty of run-of-the-mill Seattle guys there for the scene or just out with their partners. I can think of no place I’d rather drink with strangers while watching screens full of hirsute men making out. And I say that without a trace of sarcasm. Diesel has SUCH a good vibe. With regards to the few reviews that were less-than-positive about the bartenders… I’ve noticed most were from out-of-towners. To you, I apologize because Seattle, in general, is not always the most friendly place. We can be a little… chilly. And there is a tendency in Seattle to bristle at anyone who seems rushed or aggressive.(Even a level of rushed and aggressive that is considered normal in New York or Chicago.) I promise you, it’s not the Diesel bartenders, it’s all Seattleites. I’m from New York, and I thought I was getting the cold shoulder the first three years I lived here. :) In terms of the Seattle scene, Diesel has all the awesome with none of the pretensions. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a mellow, fun time with great people. Cheers!

Fun place to hang and have a drink. Super crowded weekend evenings but fun & with the second bar open, you never have to wait long for a drink. LOVE Saturday happy hour 12−5pm so you can get your drink on all day then move to Madison & Pony to enjoy happy hour for 8 hours … smart! Didn’t eat there but the food looked really good too!

I revise my opinion of the cute cub daytime bartender. I think he’s a creepy little narcissist or else he has mental health problems. You’re not THAT hot, honey. I watch him treat people like s**t while chatting it up with the regular drunks who tip well. Two weeks ago I walked in, said hi, how are you. He just stared at me with a scowl on his face and spilled my drink as he pushed it toward me. Bad mood? Get over it. You’re a bartender. I observed him for the next 20 minutes and saw the same thing with others, while he was all smiles with some of the regulars I recognize from the Mad Pub. Kind of had it with the attitude.

Love this place. Bear or not, this is a welcoming and comfortable place to be. Drinks are beyond generous. There’s hardly ever any room for a mixer once they’re done pouring the alcohol. Bartenders are the nicest people in the world.

Diesel is what I would characterize as a Bear bar. That being said, as a non-bear I’ve always felt welcome. The drinks are strong and they have a limited menu if you are hungry. They do have a pool table but it can get pretty cramped when it’s busy making it difficult to play. They also have a little patio out front if you want to stand outside. If you are looking for a no attitude crowd and strong drinks Diesel is a safe bet.

Diesel is turning out to be a nice surprise. Good luck with parking, however. Staff is nice. There’s hardly any pretension here.

Whoever says that the bartenders aren’t friendly at diesel. You are a fool. All of these guys are awesome! Some aren’t quite as talkative as others, but you’ll find if you actually MAKETHEEFFORT to engage with them they will treat you like a king. I identify with the bear community, but I myself am more of a small otter. The guy that said don’t come here unless you are a bear or they will hurt you is an idiot… I’ve been here countless times and have seen all walks of life come through. That being said, it IS a bear bar. So expect to see a lot of bears. The owners are awesome guys that have been active members in the gay/bear community for a long time. Stop in and you’ll have a great time.

Diesel is the shit. It doesn’t matter if you’re bearish(but it helps) the bartenders make you feel welcome, they definitely have the routine down, and pour drinks quickly, it’s just crazy in here some weekends because people know that this is one of the better/best bars in Seattle. I’m 31, so I don’t remember the glory days of Seattle nightlife, but I’ve been going out in Seattle since midnight on the day I turned 21, and Diesel is exceptional. Bar food, random free appetizers and snacks on week nights, the owners are super friendly, hospitable, and hilarious. Reis is also a great dancer and is not afraid to bust a move from behind the bar. My friend Tyler and I have been going to Diesel since it opened, and we love it, I’m really sad that Piecora’s across the street is going to become more condos, but I hope Diesel gets extra business because of it. GIVETHESEPEOPLEMONEYFORALCOHOL. They deserve it more than any other bar in Seattle.

Great atmosphere, drinks and food. A very welcoming place with plenty of seating. The menu is surprisingly large for a bar and the food is consistently good. The line gets a bit long at the station near the front door, so try the one in the back by the atm for quick service.

It’s amazing that these people open bars and expect the money to flow in with no concept how to treat patrons. If you don’t even have the concept of basic customer service, how do you expect to build a clientele? When I sat to order my drink, the bartender didn’t smile or greet me with any salutation. I greeted him and asked how he was doing, and he responded with tossing a coaster in front of me and waiting for me to order my drink. Wow! I couldn’t have felt more unwelcome. Yet I observed him chatting away with other patrons, people I assumed he knew. Of course I only had the one drink and promptly left. I was at C.C.‘s two days before and the bartender was a hell of a lot more friendly there. If you can’t figure out that you need to treat everyone equally when they walk through the door, then you shouldn’t be in a customer service industry. I’m certainly recommending all my traveling friends avoid this establishment. There are other gay bars in Capitol Hill who treat their customers better. I’ll come back to Diesel the day it closes and under new ownership.

Seattle’s One and ONLY bear bar. You will find me here at least a couple times a week. The food is great, the atmosphere is fun, the men are HOT! Strong drinks… WHEW! very strong drinks. Pool table, game machines, and an ATM. The only thing this bar needs is YOU!
