I’ve been picking up bagles toasted with cream cheese from here of late. Cheap and they have raisin bagels, which I love. I’ve been sticking with just the bagels. I’m not so happy with their sandwiches, flavorless for the most part and way too bready, but the bread’s fresh so there’s that. It’s a crazy, convoluted feeling I get about this place, because I also like their Italian chop salad where even the small size is a lot of salad(be careful opening the small container when there’s a salad inside of it, it may spring out and decapitate you or someone walking by). And the employees and owners are subdued and chill, easy to make special requests to without attitude.

Quite possibly the worst sandwich. Well, it was edible, but a very small portion of ham and two tiny tiny pieces of cheese. Plus they have a crap line system where if you get a salad you can cut in front of others. Also it was expensive for a really bad sandwich.

For some reason I thought Georgio’s was supposed to be the shizznit when it comes to subs. I mean hell, they have sourdough bread! Now dont get me wrong, and maybe this review is based on my preconceived high expectations, but I thought this was was… meh. I dont know if it is because of the way they warmed up the bread but it just seemed like it was lacking something. Also, the chicken was kind of small and didn’t fit the bread. The place was nice, clean, and had a lot of seating(which is a plus in downtown). The staff was very attentive and friendly which is nice. I would have no problem coming here again, but Subway is closer. Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

Every once in while, after a week of work, I like to treat myself for lunch. When that happens, I sometimes crave the best sub in the world. Since the nearest Port of Subs(Most fellow Renoites have the same obsession I do) is way the hell up near Exit 179, Georgio’s is an acceptable alternative– unless you go to the one in the Wells Fargo Building. I had a craving for a #8 on wheat– Port of Subs speak for a Turkey and Provolone, with lettuce, tomato, and thin sliced red onion(you know, the best sandwich in the world). I have been to this location a few times and and each time it’s the same story–«we’re out of wheat, we only have sourdough». I’m not usually one for the sourdough. My latest visit was an exception– this time they were out of red onion as well. Maybe I’m taking this hard, but I was really craving my precious #8 on wheat. And I’ve never had this problem at the one on Fourth and Pine. And this has happened each and every time I’ve gone to this location. I didn’t get what I wanted and when you’re really craving something in particular… well it’s disappointment on a different level. The store is very clean, the staff is friendly, and they have Diet Dr. Pepper on their self-serve soda fountain(a plus), assuming they haven’t run out. However, I can safely say that from here on out, I will walk the extra blocks, even when it’s freakin’ cold out, for the wheat.
