When I arrived, the person who ended up taking my order was sitting at a table eating. She didn’t was her hands, but did use tongs to grab a macaroon. She seemed very nice though. The display case was lacking. Everything looked home made… to a fault. They were either rushed or inexperienced. Perhaps I stopped in too late ~230pm. My macaroon was on the dry side. For those curious, it does look like this place is trying to evolve from being a bakery. There was a large sandwich menu, and the kids who came in after me ordered smoothies or bubble tea. I was expecting a bakery and got a café. What’s the difference? Some day semantics, I say the the full lunch menu and lack of baked goods. Who knows? Maybe they bake all of their sandwich bread…

Went back today to try out the Bubble Tea, this time with the Tapioca Pearls, which they had today. I wasn’t disappointed. Everyone was still kind and helpful and the tea was great! The pearls were an interesting mix, no real taste but had a gummy consistency.… Anyway, I’d recommend stopping in and getting a bubble tea if you haven’t had one. I’m not much for pastries and such, but the display case had a bunch of very tasty looking treats. So, Five for the continued pleasantness of the staff AND the tapioca pearls.

We came VERY early, like almost when they opened early. They had a few things out — the lady explained what they had and very thoughtfully. We tried the banana bread, cheesecake square and sugar cookie. The banana bread was cold? Probably because it was in their case. I definitely liked it cold. Homemade for sure and not too sweet at all. Definitely awesome The cheesecake square was a bit off on the cake to crust ratio. Should’ve had more cake. It was definitely homemade also and not sweet. Thumbs up! The sugar cookie however was hard and brittle. Great decoration but not something to return for. Service was great, kind and informative.

Great fresh baked bahn mi bread/sandwiches. Definitely a bright spot in the neighborhood for that alone. Very friendly staff. Never disappoints! If you haven’t had the bubble tea you should. Good maple bar too.

The folks that work here are great and the pork BBQ bahn-mis bring me in at least once a week. They’re SO delicious I swear I could probably est one a day if I let myself. They also offer a free for every 12 card for sandwiches and goodies.

My favorite banh mi in Seattle! Everything about it is great– the fresh bread and pickled daikon(both made in house) are always delicious. The baked goods are also excellent(I love the lemon bars and brownies). The employes are pleasant and friendly, too, so it’s definitely worth checking out.

SO Good. We came in to Lake City Bakery to get bubble tea because it’s one of the few places to get it in the area. The girl at the counter asked what we needed and mentioned that they also have breakfast all day. All day you say? We are the kind of girls who need bubble tea and a breakfast sandwhich at 3pm on a Sunday. The bubble tea was good, normal options. Also got a chai. They were out of 16oz cups so they made me a 20oz for the same price. The croissant breakast sandwhiches were delicious. The dirty chai they made me was also good. It tasted like Big Train chai which isn’t my favorite but it was still tasty. They have games to play, the football game was on the TV while we waited and there’s plenty of seating. I will definately be going back to try more of their menu.

My update with less stars is for the service. I think this place would benefit GREATLY by having two people working at all times. I don’t know about the weekdays, but I have been in on the weekends and have either personally waited for over a few minutes for someone to come out of the back, or witnessed another customer wait to order or wait to get additional things(water, cutlery). I believe the person in the back was making food. There should always be someone out at the front to take orders. Not only does it make for bad customer service, but the person who is waiting for their food will have to wait longer if the person making it has to come out in the middle of doing it to go to the front to take orders. This place is a nice place to sit and lounge, but sometimes you’re on the go and just want to grab something quick. The last time I went I wasn’t expecting it to take longer than a couple of minutes to get what I ordered, but it did. The new punch card thing is a really nice thing to do. Thumbs up for that! But please, get more staff in the your store.

I’ve met three people who work there so far. The man I met wasn’t very talkative but very helpful and efficient. The women have been chatty in a conversational way and made me feel very welcome. I’ve been doing my best to sample a wide variety of their products. I’m not a cheese danish type of gal but for some reason, it was calling my name from the glass case. I was not disappointed. The pastry itself was golden brown and flaky. The center was tasty and there was just enough icing drizzled over the whole thing to complete the effect. I’ve also tried the BBQ pork hum bao. The bao bun itself is near perfect and the filling is savory and not overly sweet. The BBQ pork banh mi is good. I wasn’t expecting the cut of pork I was served(thinly sliced) seasoned with a light marinade. It was a subtle flavor that allowed me to taste the rest of the sandwich. The bahn mi had the usual things in it like jalapenos(optional), carrots, and cilantro. Overall, the bread was quite flaky, seasonings very complimentary, and sandwich was quite filling. I’ve tried a cream filled butterhorn that was not for me. The pastry was an off-white color, flaky, and a little bland. It did not go well with the cream and literally fell apart when you bit it(not in a good way but kind of an «OMG, I just got a lap full of crumbs and who knows what my face looks like kind of way»). I tried to get some bubble tea but the tapioca wasn’t ready. Unfortunately, I can’t drink bubble tea without tapioca so I’ll have to put that on my list for later. I love that the bakery uses Level Up, Square, and seems to be very open minded about a variety of payment options. I also like their punch card for coffee drinks and other items. It makes a lot of sense to build repeat customers. Overall, I’ll go back because I’m not done sampling the goods. It was a good find and I’m happy to have another place to chill out an have a good meal.

The staff/owners here are so very kind and friendly! If there is one thing that keeps me a loyal customer, it’s service! They have delicious vietnamese and american foods. My husband and I enjoy their custom breakfast sandwiches, the coconut buns, and my personal favorite; the vietnamese ice coffee a.k.a. CRACK! Smh how addicting it can get haha… I have yet to try the bahn mi, but that is next on my list! =) Also, the atmosphere of the place is very nice and chill. Quiet and relaxing. Never too busy and just an overall great choice if your craving some baked goods & coffee. Oh yeah, pretty inexpensive too. =)

I really like their smoothies and their sandwiches are ok. My husband really likes their sandwiches though(I may just be somewhat picky). They are very friendly.

LOVE this place. The owners are crazy friendly and will start to remember you after only a few visits. What do you want? Bahn mi, cinnamon rolls, cookies, smoothies? They’ve got that and it’s delicious! One of the best cinnamon rolls I’ve had… I’ll be changing my lunch plans today to include a stop by here just to get one. It’s pretty obvious that they take pride in their product and customer service. I was a bit sad when I didn’t think I had any sort of bakery action close to my work but then I discovered this little gem thanks to this app I have on my phone… called Unilocal. Now whenever I need a pastry or a fruit smoothie I have only to drive a few minutes down the road and my life is complete. It’s probably not good for my calorie intake but calories be damned! Put this delicious food in my face! STAT! Swing by luxurious Lake City Way and check this place out; it’s worth it! I’m a fan!

I had an amazing experience with this bakery yesterday. My husband and I wanted a small gender reveal cake to announce the sex of our baby. We went in around 11am with an envelope and had an amazing cake by 4pm the same day. The staff were all very helpful when taking the order to make sure they met our needs, and the owner even called once or twice afterwards. What made it really special was picking up the cake — the owner greeted my husband by name and was so excited for us, it made me just that much more excited. To top it off, the cake itself was beautiful and YUMMY! Great cake, fast turnaround, amazing customer service. I would definitely recommend!

I was battling insomnia last night and decided to do some searches on Unilocal. I stumbled upon Lake City Bakery as i was searching for top rated Banh Mi and Phở restaurants. I read all the previous reviews and made the decision that i was going to give this place a try today 4÷18÷2012. I worked through lunch today in an effort to «save» myself for the much raved upon Banh Mi. It nearly killed me. :) Chris and Jeanie(sp) were so very hospitable as i entered their place. I decided to try the pork banh mi. A few minutes laterJeanie provides me with a pretty hefty sandwich. Surely they mistakenly gave me a large sandwich instead of a regular sized one. But they only have one size and this was it for $ 4.75… The sandwich was so good. I mean damn good. I am originally from Houston, where there is a huge Vietnamese community, with exceptional food. The Banh Mi at Lake City Bakery was the best i’ve had since i lived in Houston.(15 years ago)

Great Banh Mi «Vietnamese Sandwiches» in Lake City. I couldn’t believe my luck today. Heading towards another sandwich location, I noticed a small business establishment that has changed a number of times, with a sign in the window that read, «Banh Mi.» I went in and the owner looked up from his Ipad which doubles as a credit card machine, greeted me with a smile and friendly«hello». Seems like a small thing, but if you have ever frequented some of the deli’s, your order can seem as if it is an imposition. The owner at the Lake City Bakery had a nice friendly attitude. You get good, fast service, a nice conversation and a fantastic Vietnamese sandwich. The atmosphere was pleasant, nice upbeat and modern café style furniture. I normally drive many miles south in Seattle to get a decent Banh Mi. I will no longer have to take the long drive again, nor will I have to push my way to the front of the line, hoping the cashier decides to take my order. I never take the unfriendly service personally because they are just trying to get you a fresh sandwich quick, no matter who you are. There is not much about Vietnamese food that I don’t like, but I really like the sandwiches. The Lake City Bakery past my initial test. The Viet/French baguette was fresh(crackly crust and light), pork was seasoned well, the shredded pickled carrots and daikon, fresh cucumber, jalapeño and cilantro were perfect. I will certainly become a regular at the Lake City Bakery. If the sandwiches stay fresh, reasonably priced and the service remains good I am confident this business will stay!

Popped in on a lazy Sunday for a cup of tea and ended up getting a sandwich and pastry along with my drink. Great little café. Love the sitting area. They went with a really simple contemporary look which is a break from the Starbucks-esqe look nearly every other coffee shop goes for. Super friendly staff. A nice little menu that offers really good pastries and a selection of soups and sandwiches, smoothies and bubble tea, and coffee shop stand-byes. The sandwich was outstanding. Excellent flavor, the delicious crusty french bun I love, and fresh abundant toppings. Their pastry selection includes European, American, and Asian choices. I went for the croissant and wasn’t disappointed. I forgot to ask if all the pastries were made in-house but judging by the mixing equipment visible in the back room I suspect that they are . I hope this place sticks around, I might just have to make it a regular stop on my lazy Sunday afternoon wanderings.

Oh Yum Yum! SITREP I love when a good«bakery» and«coffee shop» come together, and I have to say BRAVO for the good people at Lake City Bakery for adding significant deliciousness to our Lake City community. SETUP Almost around for a year, this bakery makes some of the best fusion and eclectic offerings that I’ve seen. From sandwiches to specialty breads to pastries, you are not going to find a bad item in the lot. My mom — an avid blue cheese fan ever since I can remember — was pleasantly surprised when I picked her up a loaf of their Blue Cheese bread. Like Asiago bread, cheese breads seem to be coming out in abundant varieties –whether at this bakery or others — and for me that is an OUTSTANDING culinary treat! COFFEESTOP And though not really known for it’s coffee, this can still be a great stop now to get a java dose — I love the espresso — and chill for a bit, while munching on some cake or pastries. THELOWDOWN Lake City Bakery is a most pleasant stop for baked good deliciousness!

This establishment finally re-opened just shy of two weeks ago and it has made me happy in so many ways. I’ve had the opportunity of already getting to taste their selection twice(shamelessly I’ll admit both trips were on consecutive days) and both experiences yielded a bag of scrumptious treats to take home, rich conversation with friendly staff, and a giddy sense of anticipation to sample the next delectable-looking thing in the pastry case(or chomp into an already tried favorite) on my next visit. So far, I’ve had their danishes(apple and apricot) in addition to the apple turnover — popped them in the microwave for just a bit with rewarding results. The key trend in their product here seems to be in prioritizing the natural flavor in both the fruit and bread; it doesn’t seem that they rely on extra additives to enhance or create any artificial flavors, the general freshness of the pastries is undeniable(even at 5PM), and just oh-so-tasty. They also feature an array of yummy-looking flaky croissants, muffins, cookies, to Banh Mi(roughly $ 4 each)– all of which are on my growing checklist to eventually devour, of course. Before I forget, the bakery is under new management and, more importantly, they’ve definitely have started to really utilize the space to make it look much more inviting and well, actually open for business, in comparison to their predecessors. From talking to the owners(it seems like a couple-run establishment), it also sounds like they have some pretty exciting plans for the place: an upcoming bubble tea menu and a line-up of Chinese pastries. At this level of quality so close to home, I’m looking forward to a future where I may no longer have to travel to the ID for my taro or red bean fix. And a little tickle-me treat for gadget-lovers: card transactions are conjured via a quick swipe through a card reader attached to the cashier’s iPhone with the option to have the receipt e-mailed to your inbox. Very green and very nifty. I highly recommend patronizing their business and give these folks damn well reason to stay.

Great carrot cake. Blue cheese bread? It’s as good as it sounds(which is awesome incase you didn’t like the sound of it). You can tell the place is new when you walk in, but you gotta start somewhere, right? Besides, it’s the food you are eating, not the design. Welcome to the neighborhood.
