CLOSED! Pillager’s Pub has walked the plank… finally. This space is now«The House», a run-of-the-mill sports bar with a run-of-the-mill beer selection.

I’ve been to two«pirate» pubs in Seattle and I’m really stumped as to how this place averages 3 stars and the Jolly Rancher(slight name change) gets 4. I’ve read the bad reviews and have noticed the bulk of them comes from early 2011. Well, if the claims are true, then something must’ve changed because I have no issues whatsoever with this place. PARKING: Street parking. There are a couple of a nearby lots and it may be a good idea to know in advance where they are ahead of time if you’re planning to go on what may be a potentially busy night. PATIO: There is an outdoor patio on the NW corner on the street. SERVICE: This place used to get dinged for its service. Check out the dates on the prior reviews; that was long ago. The service has been good to me here each time. PIRATETHEME: Yeah, not quite what I’m looking for. But I’m all about themes and I can dig it here. The wall mural on the west wall is noteworthy. What I like about it is that it has this graffiti style quality to it, giving it an urban feel rather than something that used to hang on on your wall in the 70s. Speaking of… ART: The east wall above the pool table has paintings hanging on it. The wall is small so there aren’t many pieces on it, but it’s always good to see a venue promote local artists. FOOD: I haven’t tried it, so no comment here. BEER/BOOZE: The have their own and host others. The selection is well rounded. I’m in agreement that 3 Skulls and Baron beer brews aren’t the best, but they far from suck like, for example, the Maritime Pathetic(slight name change). I’ve been stuck on the Blood Orange Wit, and normally I’m an IPA drinker. There is a full bar, and they even do a Bloody Mary bar on Saturdays and Sundays. Pillager’s Pub, you got my vote. Too bad there wasn’t a stat on Unilocal to provide an average rating for only the past year.

Great local spot! The bartenders Toren and Jenny are the best! They both are nice sociable people and fun to talk to! My friends and I go there quite frequently because its close to home and we sincerely like the service that both Toren and Jenny provide. We also like going because of the pool table. I wish it was bigger its a small table top but fun regardless. Its not free its 75 cents a game, they also have darts, a juke box and have many board games there you can pick up and play. They have group style large tables which makes for a perfect place for 6+ people. Some nights its really packed and other nights its kind of dead. as many times as I’ve been there I havent been there on a seemingly consistent night or else i would better recommend a certain night to go. I would just say go when Toren and or Jenny are there. I havent tried the food there.

I love going to this bar, its a nice dive bar with great house beers. Really nice and entertaining staff and theres always quite a few characters every time i go in there which makes for some good converation or a story for later. Make a point of trying all the 3 skull beers at somepoint to, i have yet to find one i don’t like even when they tweak the recipe a bit… oh and for the adventurous/bacon nut in your life they have bacon beer on tap.

The food here has really improved. The panko-covered macaroni and cheese is rich and satisfying, and the new wraps and sandwiches are pretty darn great. I’ve been coming to this local watering hole, but wasn’t a fan of the kitchen in the past, but it’s made a huge leap in quality, and the cheesy goodness of the food helped me watch the cheesy badness of my favorite hockey team getting beat. Good beers, Good food, Good service and hockey on the tube. What can I say; I’m a man of simple tastes!

I had to create a Unilocal account just so I could review this place. Let’s start with the appetizer of the Mac & Cheese. We got the large bowl of Mac and cheese and decided to kick it up a notch with added bacon. When we got said bowl, it was hardly cheezy and the bacon was minimal. We couldn’t’ even see the bacon, there was so little. My guess was less than half of a slice of bacon in our dish. For that extra $ 1.50! Besides the exorbitant cost of the extra bacon. Where was the cheese in our mac and cheese? It tasted like pasta with an almost cheese powder taste. Onwards to the main meal. My friend got the pulled pork, which when it arrived we both stared in amazement. It was a perfectly formed scoop shape sitting on the bun. With a very(and I mean VERY) light drizzle of barbeque sauce over the top. The rest of the pulled pork was dry. He mentioned that the tater tots on the plate were the only good thing from his meal. I had the chicken parm sandwich. It was noting to write home about. Both of our sandwiches appeared to have buns from the safeway across the street. We left very disappointed, with the cost of the food compared to what we received.

Only went here once, so it is hard for me to judge. It was a Friday night and the place was slow. The beers tasted pretty good, and it seemed like it would be a chill atmosphere. They also had games you could play. Our service was not very good, which was interesting since it was very slow. Of course, this is just ONE experience we had. Overall, I haven’t been back, but I would not be opposed to trying it again.

My food was a bit more then i felt i should have paid(thats why i took off a star) but it was good. I love every person who works there, they have all been energetic and helpful. It makes me sad its never full, but I also kind of like grabbing a drink with out having to deal with drunken idiots. Im glad they took the bamboo down from the windows, the new cloth looks cleaner and a little classier.

I visited for the first time recently and will be back. We only went for drinks but they seemed to have a good variety on tap. I especially enjoyed the 3 skulls blood orange wit. The bar itself seemed like it belonged in Tampa. I especially enjoyed their happy hour special of $ 3 drafts. The service was great, the bartenders friendly and chatty. Arrgh’ll be back.

Well she did it, my girlfriend finally got me to go to Pillager’s Pub. And while I didn’t hate it, they had Sleighr on tap, it will not be a place I will come to often. They seem to have some decent guest breweries on tap like Ninkasi Sleighr and Hopworks Abominable Winter Ale. Not a huge fan of Three Skulls(I could only handle a sample of their bacon beer). I am sorry, I just can’t get over the pirate theme. Why can’t the people who work there dress up like pirates? An idea to make it a 5 star: tap bud light and if anyone orders it they have to walk the plank into a pool full of live great white sharks. Anyways, though I am not opposed to going there it will not be my first choice when we have Naked City, Baranof, the Yard, and Chuck’s Hop Shop in our lovely neighborhood. Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

Nachos made with tater tots and bananagrams? A good selection of beer on tap and more than one cider? What more could I want in a place! There’s some outside seating but there’s usually too much traffic on Greenwood for that to be enjoyable. Service can be hit and miss but overall, friendly. I’ve had a consistent good time here and would definitely return.

I love this little bar. It’s usually pretty quiet except for a few people hanging at the bar. I love the food and the fact that they have cider! They also have quite a selection of beer on tap… if you’re into that sort of thing. Also a full stock of various liquor. I’ve always had a great experience with the people that work here. They are friendly and fun to just sit and chat with. My only complaint is that it is too new to have that lived in dive bar feel, too bad we can’t smoke inside anymore… right?

I can’t express enough how much I love this place. Not too big, not too loud, not too busy. I’m a sucker for anything«pirate» and well, this is definitely my kind of place. I come in every week, usually with a large group in tow, and we’re always able to sit together and hear one another. There’s a great atmosphere, amazing staff and stiff drinks! I recommend going on Friday nights, because that’s the night Lena and Kayla are kicking ass and taking names. Those two truly are a power duo — they’re funny, friendly, more awesome than you can handle, and keep the drinks flowing! Definitely my favorite bar in town!

The idea of the place is cool – a pirate themed pub – but it was kind of empty and dull. 1. Cool mural on the back wall of a pirate ship. 2. Cool wooden plank tables and benches. 3. Yummy pretzels and dipping sauces. 4. Kind of rude waitress who made us all go up to the bar to order b/c she didn’t want to deal with our large group. 5. Empty, which could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Updating my review, not to add any stars, but to re-iterate that Lena is a rad and funky homosapien who sometimes has nightmares about Scott Stapp and rowdy LA tourists like myself. Here’s to Pillagers, modest expectations, and most of all cheap beer. If nothing else, it beats the Baranoff, drinking box wine at home, or that seedy Chinese karaōke noodle place across the street.

What? I…don’t even… Uh… After finding Naked City full to the brim we popped in here for a pint and perhaps some pirate themed fun. No real fun was to be had though… The place was sparsely populated(everyone was next door). Im not sure what to say about the décor — it’s like they went halfsies on a boat/pirate theme and just got tired and gave up towards the end. You have picnic tables to sit at and my bench was dangerously wobbly. The waiter/bar-tender was appropriately surly — and not in a rude way. He just seemed to fit in well with the joint. Nothing on the menu really interested me. Something about naming your items«parrot wings» puts me off. Isn’t a parrot a pirate’s most faithful companion?! We opted for chips & salsa. $ 3 for something so obviously dumped out of a bag seemed a little steep. Beers are 3 Skulls Brewery. Which, I will admit I have never been too impressed with. It probably doesn’t help that the first time I tried them out it was their bacon beer which made me want to cry and get sick all at the same time. Avoiding that option I choose the blood orange wit. Not orangey. Not beery. Not impressed. My company’s IPA was much better/drinkable — but you have to be a sorry sort of brewery to screw up an IPA in my opinion. At anyrate — wait it out over at Naked City for a table.

I found this place sorta boring. We went on their 2 year anniversary night to grab a quick drink before dinner and it was rather boring. The pirate theme is ok, but could be executed a lot better. They gave us raffle tickets for each beer we bought… after being there an hour or so we couldn’t wait all night to see if we won anything. We asked the waitress what to do if we don’t stay all night and she said«oh just pass your tickets off to someone else»… this was sorta annoying since we paid to play. Would of been better to have a jar you drop your tickets into since we paid for them.

I’m writing this review based on atmosphere. We had a nice visit with friends, and it wasn’t so loud that you had to scream in order to have a conversation. I enjoyed people-watching, and even engaged in a great conversation with a person I’d never met until that night. The food was very good — which included an artichoke dip and some chili-cheese tots. My friend had a bratwurst that looked outstanding. I would definitely return and dive into more of their culinary delights. Oh yeah, and I almost forgot, there is a small area where you can bring children. However, parental discretion is advised due to the sometimes profane language of the drunk people.

Yup it’s a pub. Nothing to entirely exciting about this place except for the outdoor seating which is a lovely breath of fresh air(excuse the punn) in a neighborhood that seems to be completely anti outdoor seating. They have ok food but there’s better in the area, not to mention a nice tap list and some lovely liquors to wet your whistle with. The main reason to go here is the people watching. Occaisionally you will get the harley gang of some of the local brewers that will show up clad in leather cussing and swearing up a storm. Really it’s not a bad place to get a quick beer before grabbing a bite to eat somewhere else.
