To add insult to injury that the Augustus closed, the establishment that took its place is called Always Happy Hour. How quickly things go from classy to tacky. Rob and Sarah of the Augustus never disappointed. Cocktails and service were always amazing. I’ll miss you!

Despite the fact that it took a really long time to get my food — and I was a starvin’ Marvin — I still give this place 5 stars for the following reasons: 1. PAPPY the ginormous, girthy, rottweiler that greeted me and kept me busy until my food came. 2. I can see this place becoming my neighborhood bar, with comfy seats, good lighting, and getting to visit the dog. 3. The food was worth the wait and totally delicious. Get The Texan sausage thing. SOGOOD. And did I mention the dog?!

Augustus makes killer cocktails! It’s amazing to have someone that is a master mixologist like Rob, and his beautiful counterpart Sarah that takes care of us. What a great find in Fremont… amazing good and drinks!

This bar is wonderful. Atmosphere is perfect, sepia lighting, great layout. Drinks are always perfect. Although I have always been hesitant about eating bar food, I ordered some food tonight, it was delicious. 5 out of 5, better than apps at a restaurant.

My first time at the Augustus. Ordered a non-alcoholic drink, though despite it being busy, it came fast. The place is clean. Impressed by that, maybe I’m easy, but it made me feel good. Atmosphere is dim, but I could see. Wasn’t quiet, but I could easily hear. Positive people talking on all sides. Ordered a burger for dinner. Hand-made patty very juicy and tasted GREAT. Unlike other Fremont establishments that cater to dog owners and those with no sense of value for their dining dollar; this place stood out. It was good. Left me thinking I will come back to try something else.

First time here(Disclaimer: Was dining on a coupon for 2 drink and 2 entrees for $ 20). What a well run neighborhood bar. Was greeted and seated as soon as we came in. The drinks — I am typically a beer and wine guy, so this was a departure from my usual drinks, being old school strong drinks(not mixed prissy drinks but rather 1950’s hard day at the office… hello alcohol!!). These drinks were skillfully crafted and intended to be your first and last drink of the meal. They were fantastic. The food — I enjoyed a burger and my wife enjoyed a sausage. Both were delicious. We’re jealous that we don’t have a place like The Augustus up in Edmonds. Here’s to dreaming… If there is one caution if eating here, it can be the parking… Fremont can be really problematic in this regard.

There are few bars around Seattle where you can get a great cocktail but you would also go there just for the food. You better put The Augustus on that short list. I am more than happy to trek to Fremont from Capitol Hill(I know, not really that far :) for a Juicy Lucy burger and an expertly made drink. The owners, Robb and Sarah, run a great little establishment tucked away from the main strip in Fremont. Robb, a seasoned bartender, can make all the good standards but also whips up unexpected great combinations, while Sarah will make you some of the best burgers and sausages in town. The Juicy Lucy burger is my personal favorite but everything I’ve had there has been excellent. The Portuguese Linguica with bacon onion gastrique is delicious as is The Pappy(so far my favorite of the sausage offerings). It’s a laid back unpretentious spot that is definitely worth checking out if you are in Fremont or if you are anywhere else in Seattle and looking for a great new place to add to your favorites.(Positive warning: Robb makes his drinks properly, so they are strong!)

Great place for talks, spirits and food. A simple menu that is made from an experienced person that knows the craft of mixology and dining. Rob and Sarah are welcoming and friendly hosts. I look forward to my next visit at The Augustus! –P.S. Get the Rocket burger. One of the best tasting patties in town.

Best bar in Seattle? Well… Is Catcher In the rye the best book ever written? Maybe not but it’s still my favorite. Nuff said.

First off, the bartenders are fantastic. They are so friendly and very attentive. I haven’t eaten here but I hear the food is great. They have a good selection of IPA beers(which are my favorite)! My only qualm, which really isn’t much of one, is the location. It is tucked away and kind of hard to find, but once found it is worth the stop. Thursday’s they have had free live music by a fantastic musician and I really think you can’t beat that! Especially when most bars in the area charge a cover for musicians that are only somewhat decent. My advice is to check this place out!

Great selection of spirits and cocktails. Great local beers on tap. The service was good and the atmosphere was chill. I couldn’t give it a 5 because I did not try the food.

Hidden in a corner, right next to Hunger,(where we were headed), we heard jazz, and we followed the music. Friend wanted a good burger and they had a few listed on the menu, so in we went. Quiet and dark, copper tones and a mature, chill vibe. I just had a cocktail but the smell of the Juicy Lucy cooking up(this would be the gouda and caramelized onion stuffed burger my friend ordered) almost got me to get one, however I abstained(on a harsh dairy free trial right now). I asked him how the burger was. He said«amazing.» Our other friend took a bite and said, «WOW, really amazing.» It’s been a while, maybe never, since I’ve heard that phrase uttered about a burger in Seattle. As for my cocktail, whisky with fresh squeezed orange juice and mint, no sugar added — well, it was amazing. I cannot wait to go back for another cocktail and a juicy burger. Friendly owners and great little spot. I want to attract more people here yet I want to keep it on the DL too! There are games you can play, and music you can listen to, and above all, stellar service, fantastic food, and classy cocktails. Go check it out! Hunger is great, yes, but Augustus has it going on.

We just came in for a quick drink(well maybe more than one) before dinner. I was impressed and disappointed. I like the space they have big windows that let a lot of light(when available in Seattle) into a dark décor. The copper bar is very nice. The deck out back has plenty of seating and gets good afternoon sun. The drinks are very good. They are simple and well made. I found them to have a good balance of flavors and they were generously poured. The menu was odd. I did not eat anything, but that was not for trying. We were going to dinner, but I always have room for a bar snack. The menu was heavy on sausages(meal sized) and burgers. They had a very limited smaller bite menu. Being that this is a bar, I would like to see a more app heavy menu(eat less, drink more). The service was friendly and prompt. It is next to my favorite wine store, so I will swing back in for a drink.

A beautiful, well-maintained bar with great service, strong and delicious drinks and some OUTSTANDING food. 1. The place is lovely. A gorgeous, copper-laden bar on the left, a bank of comfortable bench seating and a few tall tables on the right, lounge-like couch seating in the back and a wide, open, very welcome patio with sturdy, comfy iron furniture. Little personal touches like pretty throw pillows, Edison-bulbed light fixtures, a television, books and board games by the couches and a purse/coat hook for each seat under the bar really just speak to how much thought went into this place. Even the music seemed to have been picked for a reason. When I went, it was rock covers of Motown hits — I could not have been more pleased. 2. The service was tremendous. Rob and Sarah are great people. 3. The drinks are deeeeeeelicious. I only order straight whiskey on the rocks, so mine was exactly as it should have been. But the mixed drinks my friends got were perfect. Any bar that uses freshly-squeezed juice is my kind of place. It really makes a difference. 4. The food. Oh my lord, the food. I hadn’t planned at all on eating, but I am super glad I did. The burger was perfect. Home-cured bacon in a thick, beautiful slab. An excellent bun. Sauteed mushrooms and the exact right amount of melty cheese. The house-made coleslaw was pretty good, but I found it to be a little too much mayo for my taste. You know how to solve that problem? Deliver a bunch of house-made condiments with the meals. I found that the edition of a little of The Augustus’ habanero-vinegar made the slaw perfect for me. Next time I’m getting a sausage. They looked awesome too but I was told that they are huge, and that the burgers were a little less huge. I find this hard to believe. I could only finish half of my burger and slaw. All in all — this place is great. I wish it had a little better location — it’s kind of tucked away in a corner of the front of the building, and could easily be passed up. It just makes me sad because now that I’ve been there I really want it to do well.

Such a great addition to the neighborhood! We’ve been waiting for a place like this. Super friendly owners, creative cocktail menu, great food(homemade sausages!!) and wonderful neighborhood bar vibe. Looking forward to summertime bourbon sippin’ on the patio!

One of the best Living Social deals yet. Went 8:30pm on a Wed night and the place was dead.(The only other two guys there turned out to be the music act for the night.) The server(proprietor) was wonderful and attentive with the water and refillable popcorn(we DID order other things too, btw). Never once made us feel bad about using a coupon. There was a separate menu for Living Socialites and I had the Champs Elysees cocktail(have a bottle of green Chartreuse at home and never know how to mix anything with it — this drink had it). It was just OK, but my date’s Rae was awesome. Clearly a swank martini cocktail up there with a good Vesper or gin martini. The food — I, the Portuguese Linguica; date, Juicy Lucy(he liked the name, maybe it was reminiscent of some ex?). Both were delicious. The burger was huge. Both are served with a helping of Tim’s Cascade chips. The condiments come out in the form of a Moose Drool six-pack carrier, and they were cold and inventive — Sirracha mayo, among others. After ordering all the food we had the some spicy popcorn, which is refillable(and the server graciously asked us several times whether we wanted a refill). This has the feel of a good neighborhood bar, but with better food and drinks. However, the prices were a bit higher for your local joint, which may be the reason why it’s so dead and needs to advertise with a coupon.

Awesome hole in the wall bar! Probably the best spot in the city to grab a real good cocktail made right. And food is great too! Nothing better than a sausage made with beef brisket and bacon! The chips are served with habanero vinegar. So bomb!

Cozy bar tucked next door to Hunger. Came here looking for a cocktail — friend and I ordered rye and bourbon drinks, which were okay. Fresh-squeezed juice ftw. Extensive sausage menu — might come back to try.

So I used to live within walking distance of this building before the Augustus was here. I found this bar while checking out the old neighborhood and I am so mad it wasn’t here when I lived here. They make a great pro cocktail in a D-bag free environment(read: other Fremont Bars I won’t name here). I always had to go downtown to get a good drink. This would have saved many a taxi fare. I walked in on a Thursday and they had a jazz duo with stand-up bass and they were really great. I guess it’s a weekly thing. It’s everything I ever wanted when I lived here a couple years ago. Good news for the neighborhood! I enjoyed the«Bastard Brother» cocktail a lot. All of the classic cocktails and class the Fremont bar scene has lacked for so long. It’s an honest 4 star experience but I give it 5 because of where it is.

A husband and wife own and operate this great new venue in Fremont. They are both very personable, friendly, and genuinely interested in getting to know each and every one of their regulars. Their goal is to create a quiet and relaxing place for the 30+ year old crowd. The Augustus is mainly a cocktail bar but they do have a few well selected beers on tap. The food is also outstanding. I ordered the«El Jefe» and I can honestly say it’s one of the best sausages I’ve had in a long time.
