I’m back in the dealership today for a quick detail, and everybody I pass inquires to make sure I’m being helped. It’s been a great experience — both times I’ve purchased a car here.

Be aware if you bring your car for service here, they scheduled the warnings and put the sticker on my windshield saying that I should do the next maintenance in 4 months even though I drive about 3k miles a year. I just realized that the second time it happened, so ended up doing a maintenance 2 months prior to what was needed. When I called them about it, they explained that there are 2 schedules they recommend depending on how much you drive, and if you drive a lot, maintenance should be done every 4 months. But clearly it wasn’t my case and I didn’t buy it.

I stopped by University Mazda today because I couldn’t get my Virginia license plates off in order to put my new Washington plates on. A little embarrassing, but I thought it was better to see if they could help me vs getting a ticket. They were incredibly nice about it and I had my new plates on about 2 minutes later. While this could’ve been the end of my visit, the Service Consultant (Mark Rieke) then offered to take it over to the detail shop and have my car cleaned for me free of charge. My car was DIRTY, so I was thrilled. About 15 minutes later I left Mazda with my plates on, a very clean car and a big smile. I highly recommend University Mazda for going above and beyond with excellent customer service.

I never post reviews, but I will for this dealership. Purchasing a car is typically an unpleasant experience, but today that changed. My husband and I worked with Gary and would highly recommend him if you are looking for a pleasant experience. We couldn’t be happier with our new car and with the service we received. Thank you, University Mazda!

I purchased a 2016 Mazda3 gti in January from University Mazda and I can’t recommend them enough! I had done my research and found the car that I wanted and the price I wanted to pay. I saw that they had one available at University Mazda so I emailed their internet sales department for a quote. They quickly responded with a price below my target. I was cautiously optimistic because I had agreed on a «great price» before only to have the dealer jack it up with fees and options that weren’t included in their quote.
I went out to take a look and test drove a vehicle – not the exact model I wanted, but then they located an exact match (mica black, manual) at a nearby dealership and told me they could have it the next day. There was zero pressure to add on things I didn’t want and I was in and out in about two hours, financing and all, for the exact price we agreed on over the phone. I don’t generally purchase extended warranties but the price they offered if I did want it seemed reasonable compared to what I’ve been quoted in the past.
The next day I went to pick up my car and I absolutely love it, but I didn’t notice until a couple of days later when I saw it in the sunlight that there was a small crack in the front bumper. It looked like somebody had backed into it or maybe bumped into a curb. I called and let them know and they agreed to take care of it with zero pushback. A couple of days later it was as good as new. I couldn’t believe how cool everyone was during the whole process. A big thank you to Anthony in internet sales and Dave in service! Best car buying experience ever!

I have a 2013 Mazda 5, 6-​speed.
The repair tech team is top notch! Mark Rieke, service consultant, took very good care of me –I had just had body work done at the place up the street (A1 collision, another great place but that’s beside the point), but it came back with a funky thing going on in the transmission, and the body folks suggested to take it into Mazda just in case they might have bumped something accidentally during repair.
Even though they were booked, Mark saw that it was truly a safety hazard (it went into reverse way too easily) esp with my 3 kids in the car.
So he told me to leave my car with them, and set us up right away with a loaner that could hold all 3 of our car seats, which I had space to transfer right then & there. (Out of the rain!)
He was super professional, understood all the pieces of the story, and I could tell really knows what he is doing. They went above and beyond.
I also bought Mazda 3 from them a few years ago, it was similarly a great experience.
Then worked with them again when I had to replace that for a van with additional row for the (surprise!) twins that came along — another great transaction.

I bought my ‘94M Miata in 2001, and brought it to UMazda for most of its service needs in the 15 years I owned the car. Wally, Paul, and the rest of the service staff helped keep her in tip-​top running condition. I was planning another 15, 30, or more years with the car, but it was totaled this year by a kid running a red light. General Manager Chris Reeves responded almost instantaneously to an email inquiry about getting an honest appraisal by a Mazda dealer. My replacement vehicle will definitely be another Miata, and I will continue to have it serviced by UMazda (pity I’m loathe to buy a brand new car, as the new 2016 Miata looks like a sweet ride!).

Car shopping… no one really wants to do it, and 99.9% of the time it’s a miserable experience. Happy to say this was NOT the case here.
We had been to the Subaru dealership to test drive a Crosstrek, but wanted to drive the Mazdas first before making a decision. The day after our Subaru drive we stopped here and we were immediately greeted by Duane who was the sales manager. We explained what we were looking for in a car — niceties, and definite needs, and he showed us two options — the CX-​3 and CX-​5. We asked to take a test drive of both, and he happily went and got us the keys to both, and said to take our time and have fun. Wait. What? We could just go without a sales guy in the car and really feel like it was ours? Well, ok! We took both out, driving around in traffic and around some hills to test how they handled. We were sold on the CX-​3 within a few minutes, but knew we still wanted to talk to our bank about financing. While talking about the out the door price, he took the car we were trading in for a drive, and offered more than the Subaru dealer. Even though we showed our cards about loving the car (yeah yeah, I know it’s a big ‘no no’, but whatever… we knew we were buying one) Duane never hassled us, or tried to get us in the car that night. Simply handed us his card, and asked to give him a call when we were ready.
The next afternoon I gave him a call to inquire about the Mazda financing options. An hour later he called back with better terms than our bank, and the deal was set. We went back in after work to sign the paperwork — usually the point in time where things get real annoying, but it wasn’t that way. While financing was working on our paperwork, one of the sales guys (I am blanking on his name, but I know he moved here from VA and was awesome!) helped us to set up all the computer features the car has, and how to really use it all to our benefit.
About 30 minutes later we went back inside to sign everything. Winnie was handling the paperwork, and she was great. As usual, and I know this is at EVERY dealership, she did try to add on more options regarding the warranties to make the payment go up. We declined on all but one that is actually really beneficial out here, and she was never pushy about it. After painlessly signing everything, we were good to go. It was seriously just that easy.
Seriously, this was such a breeze I still can’t believe it. If you are truly looking for hassle free car shopping, this is the place. Also, the car itself is awesome. Less than 12 hours after buying it we were up in the mountains, enjoying the AWD and finally no need for chains.

We suspected our 4 year old Mazda 5 had a coolant leak; it was smelled «hot» after driving and seemed to be leaking water. University Mazda took us in the next day with no appointment due to severity of problem. Much to our chagrin/​horror, they found no coolant leak– but that rats were living under the hood! Gross! We lucked out– no leak and the rats did not chew though any wire. Why five stars? 1. They took us in with no appointment. 2. They pressure tested the engine and found no problem. 3. They did NOT CHARGE us for the visit!!!

Our family just leased a car from University Mazda, and we had a great experience. Sales and Leasing Internet Manager Anthony helped us check out the car that interested us, answered our questions, then left us alone to sort out the finer details. We decided to sleep on the decision, and then I came back for a test drive the next day. Following the test drive, Anthony asked what he needed to do to make the financing work for us. I told him, and he made it happen. So far I am completely happy with our experience with Anthony and University Mazda.

I was very excited to take a look at the new Miata so I went to the dealership. Last Saturday, the salesman came and asked what car I was interested in and I asked about the Miata. He pointed at it and said: «Right there», which was about 50 feet from us. Then he didn’t even follow me to the car, nor tried to sell it. There were 2 other employees chatting and chuckling while I was checking out the car by myself. When I was done, I awkwardly walked out of the door with no human interaction other than other customers checking out cars.
If the sales team is like this, what would you expect from the service team? (Maintenance, etc.?)

Bought a Mazdaspeed from University Mazda in 2007. Very fair deal. Great car! Most importantly, I have had car serviced here since, and their service department is friendly, knowledgeable, efficient… Routine maintenance and a couple of the usual car problems, all handled well. Loaner car is handy, as well.
Great car, great dealer.

This particular location gives Mazda a bad reputation and that’s really a shame. I called this location looking for details about a car and was connected with Anthony. He seemed nice enough and offered to send me a credit application over the phone. After chatting with him about different cars I asked him if I could come in at 5:00, he said he would stay until that time. When I arrived he showed me two cars and said I had no choice but to get a brand new car or pay $ 2,000−3,000 down to be put into a used car. It didn’t make a lot of sense but he said it was the only way. He quickly rushed through the sales process, and did not even offer to let me test drive the car. He treated me like I was lucky to even be getting a new car. He was very condescending and made me feel stupid for asking questions. After signing financial paper work he walked me out to the car and asked if I knew how to turn it on. That was the only thing he did, he didn’t offer to show me how anything worked or Bluetooth connect my phone, nothing. I ended up finding out two days later that he had not even finalized the loan with the bank the night I took the car home. They were going to work it out at a later time. I ended up returning the car 2 days later due to some paperwork issues. When I arrived the staff was arguing with one another on the show room floor in front of me and two other customers about who should be greeting and not greeting customers. It was really awkward and kind of pathetic and the same time to see grown men argue. When I mentioned what I saw to the manager he followed me out to my car and told me he didn’t like that I returned my car and bought a Mazda at a different location. It was so strange and uncomfortable. Though the location is decent the lot is small but nice. However the staff he is extremely unprofessional and non customer oriented. I think they may need some new management, too bad I will be calling corporate Mazda about them.

Went into University Mazda to test drive a CX-​5 about a week ago. I was looking at buying a new car for the first time and was helped by Eric Deter throughout the process. Eric made it a relatively simple and no pressure process. Got to test drive the exact model we were looking for and had all our questions answered. Eric worked to get us exactly what we wanted and made sure the buying process was pleasant. We got our car at a great price and left happy.

I first inquired about a Mazda3 towards the end of summer 2015 and went here for a test drive since I lived nearby. Anthony greeted me and was more than happy to take me out with the exact make and model that I was interested in. Nothing much to say about this part of the car buying process. There was no pressure to buy from him and I was on my way. Things didn’t work out the way I had hoped at the time so I decided it wasn’t the right time to buy a car.
Fast forward to the end of December 2015, I reached out once again to Anthony and told me to come in when I could. I was looking into a 2016 Mazda3 i Touring sedan. On our second test drive together, he remembered me from the summer (and my major in school!). We got back to the dealership and started talking numbers. The negotiations was not as intense or nerve-​wrecking as I believed it to be but since I was doing this all by myself, I needed some advice from friends and family before moving forward. Anthony was very patient and understanding, giving me privacy and time whenever I asked. He never pushed me or tried to sell me additional things I did not want because I think he knew that I was an informed and educated shopper so he respected my wishes (this is SO important to prevent anyone from taking advantage of you).
I worked with Anthony over the course of 3 – 4 days I think as there were some issues that came up (not his or the dealership’s fault). I decided on a WHITE Mazda3 and Anthony informed me that he could get the car by trading with the guys at Lee Johnson. I already had a bad experience with them but I figured it would be fine. I unfortunately had to work New Year’s Eve and Anthony was able to get the car that evening and that it would be ready New Year’s Day (can’t believe they work on a National Holiday!). Of course, Lee Johnson gave University Mazda the wrong car altogether and Anthony apologized extensively for the mishap. Since they were not open on New Year’s Day, I would have to wait till Saturday, which wasn’t a huge deal to me.
I decided to work on my portion of all the paperwork. Winnie the finance lady was very sweet and easy to work with! She was able to answer my questions and never pressured me in buying additional things with the car.
Anthony informed me that he would get the car as early as he could Saturday morning and would text me letting me know when it was all ready to go. I worked on Saturday as well and Anthony was more than willing to stay past closing until I got off work at 6 PM. I decided to take a long lunch break instead and finalized everything with my insurance (go see the guys at Secord Insurance Agency!!!). It was time for me to get the car and the moment felt so surreal… that it was FINALLY over.
Anthony was able to empathize with me and my feelings of hesitation and uneasiness because it is a big commitment. The fact that he understood my perspective as a buyer and as a person made the process more pleasant than I could ever imagine. I felt that he was always on my side and helped to get me the best deal possible. Anthony was very responsive and easily accessible with phone calls, texts, and emails compared to other salesmen I was in contact with. He never harassed me and accused me of lying as others did (looking at you Lee Johnson!), which made me want to work with Anthony and University Mazda even more. I for one, want to work with people who will not only help get the car I want but respect me as an individual, and provide excellent customer service, which is why I decided to buy a car from here.
Overall, a great experience in my book so I highly recommend coming here and working with Anthony if you want to purchase a Mazda!

I had been thinking about buying a car for months and contacted several dealerships to get a price quote. University Mazda (originally I talked with Duane over the phone) was the only one that didn’t harass me. It took me quite a while to get around to actually making the ginormous decision to sink down thousands of dollars and they were patient with me/​gave me space. Zero pressure.
Once I finally made it to the dealership to take a test drive, I worked with Anthony Wilson. I HIGHLY recommend him. He was GREAT. At no point did I feel any pressure or feel like I was getting scammed. He didn’t get scared when I tested the accelerating capabilities of the CX 5, let me go home and think about it for a few days, conducted all negotiations over email (my choice — seemed easier), got me a fair price for my trade in, and we ended up negotiating a super fair deal for my new Mazda, which I LOVE by the way. He didn’t try to add on any extras that I didn’t ask for… great guy. And the finance dept was great too.

First time ever buying a new car and Dennis made it easy. No strong arming, just competent customer service and salesmanship. Had I known it was this painless I would’ve bought a new car sooner.

I have now leased two Mazda 3s from the wonderful people at University Mazda. The car leasing experience here is actually pleasant. Yes, you read that correctly: pleasant! I have gone to Sonny for both of my experiences. He is sweet, kind, a great communicator, honest and helpful. I can’t recommend him enough! Winnie in finance is also awesome! I actually enjoy talking with these folks! Sonny will patiently help you through the process and make sure that you are super happy with your purchase. He is so low-​stress as to be no-​stress-​no pressure, no rush, answers your questions, etc. I love the cars and the experience. I totally recommend this place and Sonny!

I still can’t believe how easy University Mazda in Seattle made buying my new CX-​3 on Nov. 22, 2015. I contacted Chris Reeves, the General Manager, by email a few days earlier, asking him to see what the availability of the exact model/​color/​accessories I wanted. Chris got back to me immediately by phone and email, letting me know he could have the exact car there in a day or two.
I live in Issaquah, and could have gone to closer Mazda dealership where I looked at the CX-​3 and test drove it. However, after reading the Unilocal reviews and getting one «bait and switch» response from that dealer I had visited, I decided to work with University.
I used Edmunds and True Car websites to assess the current market value the CX-​3 and my trade-in’s value. Negotiations could not have gone smoother. Chris is an experienced professional, who treated me with openness and respect. Chris met with me when I picked up the car and went through all of the electronics, making sure I understood, as well as giving me helpful tips. University’s Finance Director, Winnie, also is a real pro who made understanding the final paperwork very easy. Thanks, Chris and Winnie, for taking what could have been a stressful experience and making it a pleasurable one!
My advice is to do your homework on the car, read Edmunds articles on car buying, and read these Unilocal reviews. Then, contact Chris at University Mazda for a great buying experience!

Gotta knock off a star. My friends tease me about how my horn sounds like sick goose half the time. These guys couldn’t find the problem, which granted is intermittent, but when I got the tech to hear it by holding the horn down for 2 seconds he said ‘ok I hear but it wasn’t designed for that.’ Designed for what, use? Also, I won’t be buying a new Mazda in the future due to the car starting to fall apart just as the warrantee expired and Mazda refusing to support their product.
No comparison between where I bought my Mazda, Walker’s Renton Mazda, and this place. Unlike Walker’s these guys are responsive, organized, and professional. Couldn’t even get a callback from Walker’s when problems came up with my car just after warranty expired so called u-​Mazda. Glad I did. I’ll be buying my next Mazda from them!

WOW– whoever was taking calls in the service department this morning must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed!
He was very rude and combative and all I asked was what was the first available Saturday appointment! Decided to take my business elsewhere, which was quite disappointing since the sales and the rest of the staff are quite nice in the dealership. Service department. not so much.

They well and truly took care of me here. They responded within 30 minutes to my website inquiry with the information I asked for, and had the car ready for a test drive when I showed up. Dennis was a great low pressure salesman, and knowledgeable about the product. They got me through the paperwork quickly and with no fuss, and I was there only 2.5 hours from arrival to departure with my car. It was a terrific experience!

I test drove the car I wanted 3 weeks before coming in to buy. That one sold, so within a minute Duane found one that was the same, except it had a couple small additional features. There was no «well, this one is pretty much the same, but not the same color, features, etc.» talk I’ve gotten at other places in the past.
Winnie, their head of Finance struck the prefect balance between humor and professionalism while going through the paperwork.
Overall great experience. So great my husband said «that sounds nothing like where I bought my Kia.» Yup, winning!

After about 5 years of running my pre-​owned, pre-​crashed yellow Lancer into the ground, I decided it was time to look into a new car – brand new.
Being my first real non-Craig’s List car buying experience, I was pretty clueless as to the whole process went. Didn’t even know what APR or financing meant until asking my friend and dad several times and watching videos on YouTube.
When I made the decision to go with the Mazda 3, I checked out several dealers in the area. University Mazda was one of the first to respond, and since they were also the closest, I decided to ask if they had the model I wanted in stock. Joseph (the salesman I was speaking with) was extremely helpful with answering all of my initial questions, and did not constantly contact me as other dealers continued to do.
When I came in for my first test drive, it was very quick. I met with Joe and he let me drive the car right away – just me and my friend cruising around the U-​District for about 15 minutes. I loved the car, but wasn’t ready to buy yet and when we got back to the dealer, he didn’t make me feel pressured or anything. Simply asked how I liked it and told me to call or email him if I chose to move forward.
After a couple weeks, I sent him an email and we scheduled a time to go through all the paperwork. It went fairly quick and he got me a better deal than I had asked for (woot woot!). I was told it might take a few days after signing for my car to get to the dealer from the port, but it was there the next day.
I’ve had Blue (my Mazda hatch) for about 4 months now and I couldn’t be happier with the car and the whole purchasing experience.

I’ve heard a lot of bad things about car dealerships. But my experience buying a car here was excellent! Sonny was really easy to work with and he seemed as honest as can be.
I am not sure about their service department as I’ve never brought a car in, but their sales department is as good as it can get.
