A talent brought us two boxes of pastries from Pascaline Patisserie last Thursday, January 28th. The boxes were filled with croissants, buns and other baked goodies. Since I didn’t have breakfast, I ended up splitting what I think is their version of a kouign amann(or morning bun) with a coworker. Theirs was sugary and sticky, but a little more cakey than flaky.(My favorite morning buns are the flaky ones with buttery layers.) Even though was a little denser than I expected, it managed to stay light and wasn’t overly sweet. And it’s not too big, so I didn’t feel like I was overindulging by eating half of one. My coworkers seemed to enjoy all the croissants as those went first.(This is the reason I don’t have pix.) My boss liked the buns so much, he ate two of them! As you can tell, my office likes their baked goods. I never really get to Sebastopol, so it’s great we have talent all over the Bay. It gives us a chance to try new places when they come into the office.

Wonderful food. Didier and Celine are fantastic cooks. All the baked goods are amazing including the dog biscuits which Pinot our dog loves. The Tuna salad I had one lunch time was the best ever.

My husband is a croissant connoisseur. Pascaline’s croissants are to die for. Every time he bites into one he is transported somewhere else, I can see it in his eyes. And it isnt just the croissants here, it is every single baked good… you will have to try them all. And then besides the bakery portion, the catering by this duo(Didier and Celine) is exquisite. I have had the pleasure of eating a few meals prepared by Didier and cant wait for an opportunity to hire him myself. And lastly, our son loves the ice cream sandwiches which feature Three Twins ice cream in between Celine’s freshly baked cookies. You must stop by if you are in the area.

Today for lunch my husband had the special Korean BBQ served with whipped turnips, it was amazing! I had the tastiest and creamiest ever cauliflower soup. The savory food is so flavorful and carefully prepared and the pastry case is always amazing — if it has been busy there is slim pickings because they are truly the best pastries around! Now they are making hot chocolate that really should come with a warning sign! The most amazing I’ve ever had. I can not drink the whole thing so save some to add to coffee later. What a jewel of a place with friendly staff. The space is a little odd for sure but it’s worth it!

Between Pascaline and Nightingale Breads, Forestville has become the bakery Mecca of West County. Pascaline has wonderful buttery crisp, light, flaky, deliciously flavorful pastries that bespeak a French sensibility for rich balanced flavors and textures that remain layered and distinct but blend so beautifully in your mouth that you will not be able to finish your first bite without saying«Oh my god». There are also deliciously conceived sandwiches and salads that reflect the same scrupulous attention to elegant simplicity, freshness, quality of components, texture, flavor integration and beauty of presentation. I warn you, if you try the ham and cheese sandwich, you will never be satisfied with any other ham and cheese again. Skillfully rendered in a deceptively small package, this rich, buttery beautiful little sandwich has the most flavorful ham and cheese wrapped in perfectly toasted brioche with cheese inside and out that has the perfect level of melted softness on the inside and a crusty outside that is lightly carmelized to extract a second subtly different flavor from the cheese. Seriously my friends, if you are lucky enough to live near by, then take the beautiful ride to Forestville and experience the palate of France without pretension and put yourself into the friendly hands of a welcoming staff that delivers food that is made with such care, skill and art that you will agree that this bakery has quietly become the destination for the discriminating palate that wants to take a trip to France by car in the unpretentious surroundings of a Sonoma County roadside café.

Dear owner, please please pretty please get a screen to protect your pastries from the flies! They were flying all over the croissants and other offerings when we came in. Utterly disconcerting when it comes to basic hygiene and food safety.

I’m not sure what ‘Bill H’ is talking about(butter and jam?) — the confections coming out of this little shop are spun from gold and require zero tweaking! Be sure to come in early on the weekends — word is out & pastry selection will be sparse by late morning! Didier & Celine are immensely talented & I am so happy that this business is thriving in our backyard!

My reviews, which in the past have constantly referenced what«my girlfriend» ordered, will now be referring to her as «my wife,» and Pascaline was the caterer at our wedding. Both my wife and I take food very seriously, and all anyone wanted to talk to us about leading up to our wedding was«how amazing» they were sure the food would be. It was a lot of pressure, especially on something of a budget, and Pascaline delivered for us in every way. Chef Didier is amazing. Unlike the other caterers we looked at in Sonoma, if you book with Pascaline, you don’t get some sous chef underling showing up at your wedding after having this incredible meal prepared for you at your tasting. No. You get a legitimate, top of the line, renowned, personal French Chef overseeing the entire meal. And it was phenomenal. A fresh seasonal salad, braised shortribs, pan roasted duck breast, and the best wedding cake I have ever eaten. Anne Marie and Chef Didier knew we were on a budget and worked with us to make every dollar count. People have been raving about the food for weeks now, and we couldn’t be happier. I’ll give you the advice every non-caterer we spoke to in the Sonoma area gave us while we were still shopping around for one: If you can get Didier, get Didier. They were right. You will not be disappointed.

I came specifically to try the Kouign Amann and it was every bit what I hoped for. There are a variety of subtly different textures and tastes within, Some bites are so crisp they shatter, other bites are chewy. Some bites are very sweet, others more like a croissant. Utterly satisfying.

I had a pork sandwich here and it was delicious. The salad that came with is was just as good. The prices seemed competitive. My kids are pretty picky, so since they don’t appreciate good food as much as their parents, there is still a nice patio they were able to walk around on.

Wow. Just wow. FIrst: Pascaline opens at 7am! Yay! Second: their pastry is delicious. My favorite is the cannelés(which I can only describe as a baked custard with a caramelized crust and eggy, creamy interior). All of the pastries are just the right amount of sweet(«not too» for my taste) and perfectly flaky. Celine usually does both a savory and a sweet muffin each day, and I love her croissants. We had lunch one day and it was also very good; roast beef sando(on Nightingale bread!) with a garlicky pesto and a Cobb salad, plenty for both of us to share. I thought Pascaline might be taking a risk, opening so close to Forestville’s Nightingale Bakery, but menu of the two bakeries is so different that I think they’ll complement each other rather than compete.

I highly recommend their Canneles de Bourdeaux(baked goods): they were SO delicious – the best we’ve ever had. We also had a blueberry muffin, which was also delicious – way tastier, lighter, and fresher than the run-of-the-mill muffins you get at most other places. Great atmosphere too; nice outdoor seating. Looking forward to coming back to try more things! They have salads and sandwiches, as well as pastries, scones, coffee, etc.

My husband and I just devoured a memorable lunch at Pascaline. He had the day’s special steak salad, I had the Cobb… both of them absolutely flawless with fresh greens(without a drop of moisture to distract) and just barely touched with a subtle vinaigrette that let the natural flavors of all the other bits and gobbets shine through. His slices of steak had a bright note of chimichurri swooshed across them; my chicken breast was perfectly poached in an aromatic broth. Being lunchtime, the baked goods had been reduced to a couple of trays of delicious cookies; if you want Celine’s astonishing pastries, it’s best to get there before 10 am or between 2 and 3 pm. This place brings to mind Chez Panisse nearly 40 years ago, where we were introduced to the concept of simple, fresh ingredients perfectly chosen and presented. We’re delighted to have this new treasure in our neighborhood!

A friend and I went out to Pascaline from Santa Rosa at 9:00 Am and were very disappointed. They had very few pastries on display to choose from only regular coffee. No espresso. The pastry was OK, but no butter or jam was offered along with them. The counter person was a little confused, she may have been brand new and was having trouble with the transaction screen on her tablet. Had a coffee and pastry and you have to pay for refills. The layout is really weird, Workers were constantly walking back and forth with boxes, sheetpans and other kitchen stuff. Sorry, but I won’t drive out there again, didn’t impress me at all.

I came in here after wine tasting. I ordered a Strawberry Smiley Face and a Cloud Chocolate. They were incredible!!! The Smiley face had strawberry jam made from local strawberries. It was amazing!!! The Cloud Chocolate is worth a trip back!!! Meringue as big as a jumbo cookie filled with chocolate– it melted in my mouth. I am salivating as I write this review. I might just have to come back tomorrow to get more pastries before they sell out!
