So I’ve been in numerous times for breakfast and enjoyed it very much … But today absolutely disgusting! When you enjoy a spot you like then they kill it ! Waste of money rather had a croissant !

We had lunch here today. Pulled pork sandwich and a burger. The pulled pork was just ok. The coleslaw overpowered the barbeque flavor of the pork. The accompanying sweet potato fries were overdone. The burger, on the other hand was very good. The meat was tasty, tender and juicy. I requested some poblano aioli for the burger, and that added a marvelous flavor. The only knock was that the burger was requested medium rare and came out medium. It was still very juicy, however. We plan on going back for breakfast.

In a thriving farm community there’s the little town of Sebastopol. Here we discovered the cozy Gypsy Café, modern comfort food. Sunday morning it’s packed wall-to-wall for breakfast or lunch. Looks like a great place. We ordered one of the signature plates, pork and heirloom beans. It’s braised pork shoulder, garlic greens, Rancho Gordo yellow eye beans and Parmesan Reggiano. And a prime rib sandwich with hand cut fries. Both were amazing! As a matter fact everything I saw servers carry to other tables, I wanted. Delicious, hearty size for any hard working farm boy or girl. I feel satisfied and like I could hop on the tractor and plow a field right now! Good job handling large crowd. From kitchen to server to my table was as quick and smooth an operation as raking a hay field out on the farm.

I had a wonderful experience this past Sunday morning at the Gypsy Café. Our eggs Benedict was the best I have ever had in my life! Superb!!! I ordered the«veggie» served on a hash– brown like patty. I absolutely loved it and ate every last crumb! The greens and tomato served with it are delicious. They were very quick with the service, and very nice. I met the owners who were both working during my visit and tending to the tables. They also made my 3 year old son a rice bowl and brought him a special side of tamari sauce(very accommodating!) Thank you, I will be back soon!

The Gypsy Café is a great place and it deserves its success! Probably the best place to eat in Sebastopol for tasty, filling, affordable easy-going comfort food made with a creative vision. Their menu reads great breakfasts, yum sandwiches, a pile of signature plates and salads. Service has been fabulous lately, with kudos going to Julie! If you order one of their salads that have chicken, i recommend requesting that the chicken be cooked ‘tender’ as it can be overdone… but all in all, this is definitely the place to go on a rainy cold winter’s day. It’s quite popular, so be prepared to wait a little bit but then settle in and have a satisfying meal!

Update from my 2014 review: My family and I have made it as much of a tradition as our schedules will allow to take the drive to Sebastopol every weekend for breakfast/lunch. The House Stack has become a favorite of mine. I half-wish they served it in a half order. It’s ridiculously good, but oh so filling! I’ve tried the Sebastobowl and, while I liked it, it was too heavy on the greens. The dish needed some balance. But I’d order it again and ask them to be a little lighter on the greens, or just take them home and repurpose them. I still stand by the mac and cheese. It’s perfect. Their clam chowder is still delicious. My daughter’s faves are the Caramel Pecan French Toast(hold the pecans, and put the sauces on the side). Their homemade caramel sauce is almost too good to eat. I’m a huge fan of caramel, and this sauce is the best i have ever tasted. She still stands by the grilled cheese. They do it up good. The service is excellent. ALWAYS. If you get there before 9:30, you might just not have to wait 15 minutes, but it is so worth the wait. Every time. One of these Fridays, we’ll make it to their dinner and live music. I look really forward to that! ********************************

Found this place on Unilocal, and we weren’t disappointed. Being fairly local, we aren’t too sure how this place was under our radar but we are glad we came in. Everything we ordered was great. French toast, Bleu burger and tostadas. Orange juice was off the hook. Caution, sandos come with lots of aioli(aka MAYO) and French toast comes with LOTS of butter. Consider asking for either on the side. We’ll be back…

It is so hard to find a clean, fresh food breakfast in Sonoma County. Here at Gypsy’s, I found a Mushroom Gravy instead of pork! The Biscuits & Gravy(mushroom) were so light and healthy! My girlfriend had the Huevos Rancheros. A crispy tortilla, poached egg and perfecto salsa! Again, really clean, light and tasty. Even the coffee was remarkable!

Looking for a hardy breakfast /brunch? Stop in before you head out to the door. Situated right on Main Street you can’t miss the door. There’s street parking or big FREE parking public lot on back. Good for groups, 2 and 4 tops. Or share a table meet some locals. Live music at nights. Serves breakfast all day ! Made from scratch!

Located on a Main Street in Sebastapol. Very cute interior. We had breakfast on a Sunday morning and we waited about 40 minutes for a table. Plan to put your name in and check out the shops.(There’s a great indie art store and gallery next door.) The Mushroom Leek Gravy and Home Made Biscuits were divine! Really delicious. The toast they serve is brioche-esque and so good. I was surprised they didn’t have homemade jams. The potato offering is sort of like a stacked hash and had terrific flavor. Two other adults had the Huevos Ranchero and the chorizo was spicy and flavorful. The salsa was great and fresh. The other meal was a French Toast… Maybe Salted Carmel? I can’t remember. He LOVED it. The coffee was good and strong. One of the owners was also our server and was super helpful talking about all of the items. I look forward to visiting again. Yum!

I’m shocked I have not reviewed this spot yet. What a great addition to Sebastopol! This is home grown at its best. I come for breakfast and lunch, I have yet to experience dinner. They make a lot of their items in house as much as possible. One of my go-to items at the moment is their house stack with house-made chorizo, avocado, eggs, on a potato pancake. The combination of flavors is delicious! The chorizo is well made without grizzle and slightly spicy, cool notes are balanced out from the avocados, and of course the perfectly cooked over medium egg. A really stunning dish. Their combination breakfast is another winner. You literally get the best of all worlds with this dish. French toast, bacon or sausage, eggs, and their house made potato pancake, and choice of toast. They make a mean bloody mary that is tangy and spicy. Well crafted and can even be too spicy for me sometimes, and that is saying a lot! Their royal kerr is from a house elderberry juice, another winner. They also make a candied bacon blt. DELICIOUS! Everything I have tried here has been delicious. I’ve yet to be disappointed and hope this track record continues. Service is good, attentive. Coffee service can falter a little, but nothing that ruins the experience. I have a food allergy and the restaurant is incredibly accommodating and offers excellent GF toast. Highly suggest spot for a delicious and mellow meal. Price point is decent and you get what you pay for here.

Ok, I am absolutely in LOVE with this café! From the décor to the food, from the staff to the ambiance… I am in love with it all!!! This place is an experience and I literally can’t wait for another, I’m thinking about dining here alone for lunch today! Thats how good it is! I can’t even remember the last time I took myself out to lunch. Sunday was my very first time, thanks to a beautiful friend insisting on me trying it out! Thank you friend! :) All the food is made from scratch and definitely with love. :) A perfect spot for Sunday brunch and a lovely variety on the menu. Vegan and gluten free options, along with the meat and potatoe dishes, so everyone can find something they love! I can’t rave enough about how incredibly delicious everything was! I ordered the veggie benedict special… yessss! Just yesss! My mouth is starting to water! The homemade hollandaise was the best I can remember in my lifetime. Yes… it was that good! They used a shaved potato patty instead of a English muffin, major creativity points added! The avocado was perfectly ripe. It was the perfect portion for me, I just about finished it and was satisfied for over 6 hours! Perfection! One of my friends ordered their french toast… yes, I stole a bite and almost the whole dish! Then I stole a bite of the coconut brown rice veggie bowl… yessss! That’s what I am ordering next! Our server was a delight, it was an extremely busy and gorgeous day in downtown sebastopol, the small 15 minute wait for a table for 3 was understandable. The small wait gave us a chance to do some window shopping and discuss where we were going to venture next, while we ate. :) Bonus points to our amazingly competent and swift server! She was a sweetheart too! Definitely one of my new faves in sebastopol! Buy local and support your community! :) I seriously wish there were more than 5 stars right now! Yummmmmm! Mimosas for brunch if you are over 21 ;) Bring the kids… bring your family… bring everyone! ;)
