The Delta Cafe

I was not impressed with this place. I had the country died steak and it was okay but bland. The fried corn on the cob tasted like it was old. The mashed potatoes were bland also. I ordered sweet tea and it tasted like old or maybe burnt tea.
Our waitress was very nice though. The restaurant was clean but the windows were filthy. I would have rather went across the street and ate at Cracker Barrel.

My son contacted a friend that grew up in Shawnee to see where we should eat as we traveled through there. He’d never eaten there but had friends that liked it. Dining area & restroom were clean, very friendly staff, food had the home cooked appeal. My steak was lacking. Chicken fried steak was good. Our waitress seemed confused about menu options, maybe it was her first day. Rolls and jalapeño cornbread offered with butter & honey were great. Our appetizer sampler was a delicious platter of fried food heaven and dipping sauces.

I love this place. Its always great. Very consistent! I wish that they would serve turkey and dressing year round!!!
In my opinion, it’s the best and it should be put on the menu year round!

Went to Delta Café yesterday for lunch with my husband. I ordered the catfish fillets with Mac & cheese and fried okra… with sweet tea to drink. The fish was really good… But that was it! Mac & cheese was over done and mushy. The fried okra was not even luke warm. The sweet tea was not sweet at all (if it was sweet tea) I guess moving here from Georgia where the sweet tea is sweet, Mac & cheese isn’t over done and the okra is freshly fried when ordered makes me give this restaurant a 1 star… And the only reason for the 1 star is because of the fish fillets.
My husband ordered the patty melt with fries… The patty melt was awful… oil/​butter or whatever was running off the toasted bread and was literally coated in oily onions… The fries were cold too. So my husband gave you a 0 star because of the meal.
The restaurant itself needs to be cleaned! There was food on the blinds/​salt and pepper shakers were hideous and sticky to the touch (gross)… So the cleanliness gets a 0 star… Nasty… We spent $ 25 and some change on the meal… left a $ 5.00 tip… Because she was a pretty good waitress.
Since I can’t give this restaurant a combined score of 0… Based on the scoring module this restaurant gets a 1 star!
Needless to say, this is one restaurant we will never eat at again.

We come here often. Food is good, homemade cooking, something for everyone. Prices could be little better. Service always friendly.
Kids note: please bring me a jacket. Mac and cheese not like from box. I like to sit in ice cream bar

Maybe it’s the small town girl in me but I love places that make you forget you’re in a restaurant and make you feel more like you’re at a dear friends. My husband and I went for dinner during the week and the first detail we noticed was how spotless the place was. Not a single thing on the floor, all the tables cleaned as soon as they were emptied, chairs/​tables and booths spotless with everything in order; we were really impressed. In addition, the interior was so warm and inviting and the staff was so friendly. Everyone from the host to our waiter to the busboy were very polite, welcoming and always smiling. The food was delicious and down home style, which I love. The only reason I’m giving this place 4 stars is because I was really disappointed they didn’t have pies or cakes etc. I got the feeling sundaes are their thing but for lactose intolerant people like myself I always look for the pies or cakes and with the style of this place it just seems like homemade pies were missing.

The food tasted frozen. It was over seasoned and lacked enthusiasm. The mash potatoes were over cooked and lumpy. Looking through the menu I felt myself as having entered into a live episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The corn bread was made with half a jalapeño put into the middle rather than spread throughout.
Service was friendly. Staff great.

I just moved to Shawnee (temporarily) and my mother suggested we go to Delta Café for dinner. I don’t know why I don’t eat here more often. Sure I’m one of the younger customers but it’s actually a pretty neat place.
The hostesses were friendly and our server was very polite. I think one of the neatest aspects is they have an old time soda jerk bar you can sit at. You can eat your food and order drinks just like in the old days.
The last time I visited this restaurant I ordered the patty melt which was one of the best I have ever had. This time I ordered the light portion of the chicken fried steak which came with two sides. I chose fried okra and french fries. The steak was very flavorful and not gummy. The gravy had flavor and wasn’t too salty.
I will definitely go back.

We have been here more lately than ever before. They offer fanastic coupons in the paper. even without coupon though it is a great value. My wife enjoyed the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and i enjoyed chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes. The waiters and waitresses are so awesome. Our glasses stayed full and they stopped by often but not to much to see how we were doing. over all we always enjoy our experience!

I really like eating here. The food is really good and it comes to you fast. Not to mention the selection is amazing! They even have a cute little 50’s style ice cream parlor. Always very clean. If you haven’t ate here, I recommend doing so.

Stopped here for lunch after leaving Oklahoma City. I had the Chicken Tender Salad, which cost only $ 6.29. Not sure how this got in the $$$$ catergory, shoul only be $ or $$ at the most. Lunch was very good as well as the service. Clean bathrooms as well.

Very good Cajun catfish, service is good, prices good… Excellent place to eat

I’ve herd bad things about the resturant, But I have to say I have never had a bad time, bad food or service.
food is food service is food, its clean, restroom was clean.
So I wouldn’t beleave everything I hear or you may miss out on a good meal…
