Greatest place to study if you don’t want to go to the library. It’s quiet so you get your work done. Free wifi with a purchase. My absolute favorite is the breakfast sandwich on a croissant. It’s soooo good! I’ve been coming here for years and it is by far my favorite place to study. There are many regulars who are super friendly and the baristas are awesome! Sad to say they’re are closing at the end of this month :((June 2014)

This place is great! I have only recently started drinking coffee and I’m still only on mochas, needless to say I have only ever ordered from Starbucks. We were looking for a place open late at night in the area and Starbucks was already closed so we went to grounded! First of all I had no idea how expensive Starbucks was for a mocha, either that or this place has amazing prices. Either way, I loved this place for many reasons. . 1. It’s open late. Great for after a late dinner:) 2. The coffee was amazing! 3. There are books on the tables in case you’re alone. 4. They have little pieces of paper and pens for you to make drawings and put it on the wall. 5. The guy that was working there on the evening was extremely personable. 6.They have whipped cream and caramel drizzle(some coffee places refuse to have that especially if they consider themselves high-end) I came back a few days later during the day and the service was just as great and the place was just as fun!

It’s open until 12a.m. and one of the few places that you can walk in and get serious about your work. I hardly see people talking and disrupting the work space. If anything, the music is a tad bit loud for those that like a more quiet atmosphere. It has somewhat of a «ghetto» feel, especially the bathroom and other desk area, but, it is what it is. The guy who works there was super friendly and nice. There was a community feel, and I could tell there are regulars. Chai tea latte was average. I still prefer the spice that I can taste from the one at Starbucks. The Americano iced coffee was definitely good… it kept me up till 7 a.m. the next day. I wouldn’t stop by here just for coffee or food. I think in the sherman oaks area, this is the best bet in terms of finding a seat and getting work done. Crave always seems jam packed, and more of a place to chat than get work done. And most of the starbucks on ventura are usually jam packed, too. This café is slightly away from the main strip of Sherman oaks.

I work right next door to Grounded. This is my go to place for my balanced breakfast that I skip out on from home. The owner, Miguel, is always there. He’s always really nice and friendly. No matter what every Friday me and my co-worker order a breakfast wrap. We modify it with egg whites and turkey instead of ham. We also add avocado which is extra, obviously, but makes it so good. It also comes with a side of salsa and sour cream. Its such a basic wrap but with the salsa and sour cream it just tastes so good. Not a fancy place but definitely clean and fresh. This place is great for anyone that needs to use the internet because it is also an internet café. You can go enjoy a cup of coffee and do whatever you need to do on your laptop/tablet. They also have lunch items and specials as well as pastries, all sorts of coffee and teas, fruit and more. Can’t go wrong with grounded café. Great little Gem. Great service and very convenient!

It’s kind of like the Island of Misfit Toys. And if you go enough times, you realize you’re one of them.

This is a perfect place to study because it is one of the few quiet cafes that I know of that are open till midnight. There is free wifi and public parking in the back so it is pretty ideal outside of going to a library. The drink are good, i usually order the vanilla chai latte iced or warm, depending on the weather. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend are the sandwiches. I ordered the turkey pesto panini and a grilled chicken pesto. For some reason both times they turned out really salty. The pastries are pretty good but the sandwiches are very mediocre. Overall I really like this place and suggest it to anyone who needs to stay up late to do work or wants to enjoy a good cup of latte and coffee.

Zero ambiance but great coffee. The staff is always friendly to myself and whomever is with me. It’s quiet, but has more of a «college library café» vibe than LA coffee shop. There’s a few places to plug in computers but they’re mostly always occupied. The food doesn’t look great in the ugly, neon-lit, glass case. Fruit looks soggy & the raw veggie plate looked browned.

This place is awesome! It’s so hard to find a decent study place that has food and drinks and is open late, in the valley… this one hits all of those points. Open until midnight! Yummy drinks. Relatively quiet, chill atmosphere, nice staff, free parking in the back… it’s great!

Perk: Free parking in the back!(: Environment: Pretty darn tootin’ happy about the feel of this place. Grounded Café has a great study ambience. I loved it. My bro and I stayed here for about 3 hours before we left. There were enough outlets for comp users and phone charger users. So don’t freak or hyperventilate if your electronics are dying — there are outlets! Seating varies from small tables and chairs to coffee tables with sofas and love seats — so have your pick! Lighting is sufficient. Clean bathroom! Open til late hours. Drinks: Pretty darn tootin’ disappointed. Mostly speaking from the iced white mocha and vanilla chai latte experience — Maybe it was an off day? I guess I’m used to the cafes that grind their own local coffee beans on the spot, and make their own almond milk. I haven’t quite found my café calling in the Valley yet :(One day this will happen! My bro is a coffee junkie and this def was not his cup. My vanilla chai latte with almond milk came from a powder and AlmondBreeze. :(For over $ 4 per drink I was definitely expecting my quality ingredients and care. Haven’t tried their other drinks like smoothies and such so can’t speak for that — but they do offer a variety including green smoothies(: Pretty cool! Service: The barista was very nice though! He gave us the wi-fi code upon request. Our drinks were brought to us soon after they were made. He struck up small conversations with anyone who ordered. Would recommend? If you’re in the area and need to study like craycray — yes! Great study environment with wifi, seating, and awesome hours. Very student friendly place! If you wanted a great cup of joe, according to my bro — try elsewhere.

Went here today for the first time in need of a late night study sesh. If you enjoy a nice cup of coffee and a relatively quiet place to study… This is your place. Came here with a friend to get our study on. We were greeted by a staff member who seemed very friendly. I noticed him having various convos with customers so he seems like a pretty cool dude. Anyways, I ordered the white mocha — which I really enjoyed. My usual drink at Starbucks is a white mocha, but the white mocha here completely beats any other one I’ve had. My friend had the vanilla chai which she claimed to also enjoy. Although I mentioned that this was a quiet place to study, they played some pretty reggae cool jams throughout the night. It’s not blasting loud or anything. It’s loud enough to hear, but soft enough to distract you from studying. Also. There’s free parking located in the back! This is a major plus considering it’s located on Ventura Blvd. You’ll never find free parking anywhere else. Lol! I only have one«con», which isn’t enough for me to take away a star. The tables aren’t really too big, so the table space is really limited, especially if you’re studying with a buddy. But it’s OK! That’s not even a big deal. I will definitely be back here for the great coffee, friendly staff, and late night hours. Happy to have stumbled upon this place.

My new favorite place to be. GREAT study spot, it’s really quiet here especially for a café. They always play good music and the staff is awesome! The customer base seems to consist of loyal regulars of all ages and styles. Their baked goods are to die for, their kitchen food is fresh and delicious, their drinks are solid, they’re open late, super fast wifi and there’s free parking in the back!!! Much love for Grounded Café.

Great coffee, good food, free parking and the friendliest staff in town. What more could you want from a neighborhood coffee shop.

PROS: Nice chill place. Always seating and plenty of outlets. It also has a sidewalk patio. It’s open late, until midnight, which is hard to find in LA. Good coffee, organic! Decent pastries and cookies too and a food menu. CONS: they don’t know how to make an Americano! They pull shots over the water and that ruins the crema! …am I coffee snob or what? Otherwise, I recommend this place for sure!

Latte was great but had croissant ham and cheese sandwich and was extremely dry and not pleasant. Cheese wasn’t even melted :-(

Superfast WiFi, cheap coffee served by a barista in a band shirt, enough tables and plug outlets, open until midnight, small menu written on a chalk board, not freezing – Grounded Café is coffee shop designed for people rushing to get something done on the Sunday before the Monday it is due. It’s situated on a dull stretch of Ventura – I’m looking at a liquor store right now, a questionable law office, a hardware store, and a motel – but the bathroom is gorgeous!

I love this little place. I come here almost every morning to get a cup of joe from Miguel. This place is super quaint and small, but has great food, great beans and great attitude! I order an iced latte with vanilla, the spinach smoothie and the vanilla chai. All are very delicious but the spinach smoothies can be bitter at times. I also order the breakfast sandwich every now and then(its definitely a treat for me). it’s a flaky croissant with egg, cheese, tomatoes and a little mayo. Their salsa is AMAZING. Gotta try it especially with the sammich. I love that they have art every month to support local artists. Always new and interesting things. The staff is always really nice and always friendly. They have great access to the internet with about 5 computers available on the wall, and wifi connection if you have your own machine. Comfy chairs, nice outside seating(there’s parking in the BACK as well) and easy meter parking in the front. I can’t think of anything I don’t like about this coffee shop. Except for the fact that I forget my punch card.

I don’t know how I feel about this café. I like it, but I just can’t figure out how much. PROS: 1. Close-ish to where I live. It takes about 20 minutes to get here without traffic. That’s nothing for L.A. driving! 2. There’s PLENTY of FREE parking behind the café, this is true. And miraculous. 3. My friend from UCLA and I can meet up here ’cause it’s a pretty good midpoint. 4. It’s generally pretty quiet, filled with people being super focused in their work. 5. The orange julius wasn’t bad. 6. Free and unlimited wifi with a minimum $ 3 purchase. CONS: 1. The round tables are TINY. I like to spread out my stuff when I work. The bigger square tables were occupied by people who looked like they’ve been there for hours and will continue to be there for hours. 2. This is hard to find when you’re driving by. I can see myself coming back here whenever me and my friend want to have a study date. The two cons that I listed are very minor, and a great study place like this is hard to come by.

This is my favorite local café and come here quite often. The question is not why you should come here, but why shouldn’t you come here? It has a homey feel on a busy street, super friendly staff, free wifi without any stupid time limits(just ask for the password they change every 2 weeks), and free parking. For me I just walk here because it’s 5 minutes away from home. It’s my home away from home when I need peace and quiet from my loud roommates. It’s where I send job applications, study for tests, and watch Netflix. As an added bonus, according to the legend of the staff, some A-Class actors have been seen here on a 1-time occasion. Every nine drinks here gets you a freebie — I’ve had three freebies so far in the last six months and would have more if they were a franchise.

Free wifi with a purchase. Couches are a plus. I ordered a wrap which was made when I ordered it and was actually decent. A pretty quiet place to work in… but not private so it won’t be so quiet if there are people that are inconsiderate, like when I was there. Some lady and a dude were intent on making everyone in the café aware that they work for the entertainment industry. But it’s on them, not the café itself.
